Hi,
I'm trying to use the SIM Toolkit (STK) in my brand new Zenfone 2 ZE551ML but I cannot make it work. The app is in the app manager but there is now apparent way to open it (the app is not in the apps desktop/menu).
Could it be caused because I haven't rooted the phone?
I've noticed this too. I also find that SIM2 often refuses to work

I found the solution. You need to know that what the STK is doing is executing code in the SIM card so if the SIM card you are using does not have code to be executed with STK it won't work.
Make sure that the SIM you want to configure is in the SIM slot 1. Download a shortcut creator app like Qickshortcut Maker.
Use the app to open the STK and you are done.
You might need to restart the phone I don't remember what I did exactly was a while ago.

Is there any way to get the Contacts apk to show SIM contacts? I already tried to use the KH3 apk but it just gave me force closes... Can anyone mod it or somehow help me get it to show my SIM contacts?

Can you put it in flight mode and then enable Wifi? That works on some devices.

it works just find without airplane mode.
is there any specific instructions that can be provided for this phone or possible apk or maybe having this added to the toolkit?
bump... how?
Is it safe to remove SIM Toolkit app from system/app folder? In task manager it seems to use a lot of memory even though I don't even use it.
I don't find this app in many custom Roms and I assume its useless.
Also many threads here listing "junk apps" also mention SIM Toolkit as junk.
Just wanted to makes sure its safe to get rid of it. Any one have any idea about this ?

Yes for as long you are not on carrier that needs that for refresh sim card
Just save uninsall and if you ever needed again you can mount to system
To not go to high on what is purpose what else this used for. ...
Remove if you like. ..
Another Service mode app
USSD tool is for engineering mode where you can enter commands for troubleshooting changes and etc. ....don't play with this if you are not very familiar with....
Hope I helped

Hi, I downgraded from cm 10.1 yesterday and flashed xperia ultimate hd 5.0.1. Works fine but the problem is there is no sim toolkit available which is very useful in checking credit and topping up, and mobile money transfers in this country. Who knows how to install, tried other xda suggested methods like copying to system/app and reinstalling but doesn't work.
It should be installed by default after you let the phone boot up. Check with your service provider if the problem persists since it is related to SIM card.

I believe he is looking for the SimToolKit.apk file (I am not sure, what it is named).

I also have it, but mine is carrier based. Only appears when I insert the correct SIM card.

Finally found a way to install the sim toolkit
I found a way to.
1. Got the ics stk.apk.
2. Copied it to system/app
3. Edited permissions using root explorer.
4. Installed it using systems apps installer by traber software (google play)
5. Put a sim pin.
6. Rebooted.
Then it was there.
It's not called sim toolkit though, it goes by the name of your service provider, in my case safaricom. But the same icon.
Thanks guys
If you need the stk.apk or help, request

This step is not necessary actually. A normal reboot would have already done that
Okey

Followed exactly what you did im using ACIP custom rom and I cant use my Bank Mobile ID cant even activate it in my online bank because it doesn't connect to the phone number. So I really need this to work did you ever click install on apk? Or did you just transfer it to system apps with permissions and reboot and voila there it was ?
I am using the phone on non sprint network which is working fine. But I am unable to disable the sprint activation screen which comes on every reboot.
Earlier,by deleting the sprint related apk from the system problem, the activation goes away. But I am unable to do that on G2.
Appreciate any help.

First you need to be fully rooted.
use root browser to navigate to the system/app folder
rename OmaDmClient.APK to OmaDmClient.Bak
save and reboot and no more HAnds free on every boot
thats good
