So I have a rather strange problem, and have found no help in other threads, so I'll start on here. I have the white G3 on T-mo (obviously) and have been trying to upgrade it to LP. I have tried both Autoprime's stock ROM as well as the stock ROM posted today extracted from the KDZ. Both were flashed through TWRP and have the exact same problem. Any time the wifi gets shut off for any reason, whether to send an MMS or because I leave the house, when it turns back on, it will not route to the internet. I can access anything on the local network, but somehow the route to the modem and the world at large is just gone, and will not come back with anything short of a reboot. I have also noticed that after a few hours of relative stability, the wifi will just randomly stop working. One other aside that may or may not be related, people have been complaining of text messages being sent 10 to 15 times when using the wifi calling since upgrading. Honestly, I'm pretty tech savvy and have followed all the flashing instructions, but am at a complete loss here. I am sure the problem is with my phone, since the identical symptoms have occurred with 2 ROMs now, both were clean flashes. Does anyone have any insight to this issue at all?
My girl has this same issue on her G3 but hers was updated through the OTA. Its running stock ROM, rooted & stock recovery and after updating to lollipop, she's having WiFi issues and battery issues and other stuff like freezing & stuff.

So, obviously there is no idea among the community regarding what is causing these wifi issues. However, T-Mo has pulled the 20b update for unannounced reasons, but stating that they seek to provide the best software experience. There are obviously multiple issues with the update, from battery to wifi calling, etc. I'm just going to assume that the wifi issues I am experiencing are part of the issues that got the update pulled. Short version: if you are wanting to use wifi calling and keep the phone as stock as possible, stay on KK for a while.

I have just spent an absolute age with HTC tech support, and the answer to the few that have been suffering with no data via wifi is................send your handset in for repair.
I honestly have completely lost the will to live, no matter what i say to try and convince them the issue is software related as i can use 2.2.1 absolutely fine, it seems to completely be over everyones head, i even spoke to a manager, who after listening to everything i said, who then spent 3 minutes in silence came back with "broken wifi module"
Arghh, they now want to book my handset in for repair, which i am reluctant to do as they quote a turn around of 20 days currently, i dont want to be without a handset that long.
all i want is gingerbread on my handset and be able to use WiFi, 3G works perfectly
Has anyone had any luck in solving this? its not a router issue, i have tried 4 different routers, its not a signal issue (i have a full signal, and its not dropping the signal), i have tried every 2.3.3 custom rom and stock rom out there and still no data Via WiFi, tried different radio's, and different kernels,
If i go back to using the Android revolution 2.3.2 beta, it works fine, so its defo since the 2.3.3 update.
any help from anyone would be so gratefully recieved i will buy you a pint!
Hi there,
Have you flashed the matching RIL's for your radios? A similar issue affected me but it was only with CM7 and ARHD. I flashed the radio in my signature (good WiFi performance for signal and battery life) and the corresponding RIL and all was working after a couple of reboots.
Hope this helps.
i have indeed pal, really really struggling with this.
A work colleague has just completed his OTA update at work, same issue,
at least i know its not just mine
im wondering if its something to do with the wifi driver in the ota,
Actually its not just the ota, tried the RUU just now, same issue
any Dev's got any clues?
Mate,
I´ve downgraded the ROM as per this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003), and now it is working perfectly. No need of gingerbread, I noticed that I do not need it anyway. Instead of that, my baby is alive and kicking againg.
Cheers.

im back on LeeDroid 2.2.1 custom rom and everything works like a charm, there isnt anything on gingerbread i need, but i want the option, i prefare the menu, but i can not be without WiFi. I have just sent HTC a humerous letter/email, i have spent hours on the phone with them today.
Sent LeeDroid a pm, see if he has any idea why this is, or if there is anyway to sort it
hopefully someone soon can come up with something, there are only a few of us with the problems, but even so HTC should release a patch or something to rectify it. A guy who has a T-Mobile branded device at work has updated fine, but myself and another colleague (both unlocked sim free devices from the carphonewarehouse) have the no data issue via wifi
i am losing the will to live
Hello,
I've searched around the Epic 4G Touch forums as best I could, but sadly I couldn't find anything that was exactly this problem (although I found some interesting articles about wifi sleep time but they don't seem to apply). I'm experiencing an annoying issue where I can connect Wifi just fine, but if the phone is left for a small period of time (~10 minutes), wifi appears as if it's still connected, however it cannot send/receive data. When this happens, the wifi status says it's "connected", but there is no data connection. The only way to to get the data back is to turn off wifi, wait for 3/4G connection to initialize, then turn Wifi back on to refresh it...then it's fine again until I set the phone down again.
I had this problem on stock EL29, so I rooted and flashed Phantom Blazer ROM (very cool ROM, but I'm still experiencing the same issue). After reading the threads on here about wifi sleep times (apparently they're backwards with ICS roms), I've experimented with every setting, yet I still have the same issue--Wifi is fine as long as I'm using the phone, I set it down, after about 10 minutes pick it back up, says it's still connected, but no data connection.
has anybody experienced this problem with this phone? I'm about to unroot my phone/go back to factory so I can take it in to a Sprint store, the problem is they (trying not to be offensive) don't seem to know very much about this device. I thought I'd ask the pros before I return it, get an iPhone, and have to eat my words about how cool Android is vs. iPhone in front of all my friends. I'm hoping there's a reliable ROM or app that can resolve this vs. having to just replace the device!
Thanks for your help!
I'm not the only one
I'm not the only one with this problem:
edit: I can't post links to androidforums.com or anywhere else, but this same problem is all over the interwebs and nobody has a solution.
I'm sure it's not my router as my ASUS tablet/laptops/girlfriend's iPhone experiences no connectivity problems. I'm thinking this is a hardware problem with some of these devices. I will unroot/reset to factory tonight and let you know what happens.
What channel is your router on? And what type is it A/B/G/N?
This is s known TW ICS bug, most likely kernel related. Almost everyone is having this issue and there is no fix until Samsung decides to repair it. There are quite a few posts similar to this one. If you're using XDA's search function, it's not very good. Try using Google next time and search XDA that way.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
Hey guys, thanks for the response. Just before I unrooted/reset to factory I tried one last solution--download an app called "Wifi Fixer". It has resolved a lot of these problems. It's not 100%, but after testing it for a day so far, I've only had to manually refresh the connection once or twice. It's a lot better, even liveable, and I won't be resetting to factory afterall, at least not until Samsung provides an update. So if anyone is having the same problem, try Wifi Fixer, hopefully it gives you a similar level of success...I'm not super happy about having to run another background process all the time, but it doesn't seem to affect battery, and the fix it provides is worth it to me.
Cheers!
Huh - a couple of things. Noticed this problem crept back in FF18 and didn't know why until I went back and checked the wpa_supplicant.conf that I'm using. The line ap_scan=2 was missing; after adding it back in the signal strength is back to full and stable.
I'll bump the thread but it appears the config changes here still hold after all:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569348
This should also avoid having the WiFi fixer there as you can specify the country in wpa_supplicant.conf manually.
Thanks for looking in to this! A couple questions from a noob like me though:
When you say the problem crept back in FF18 ... what does that mean? Is that something that exists in the "stock" version of the Epic 4G touch from Sprint?
The manual config file tweaks you're describing ... is that something I can perform myself?
Basically I'm wondering if it's "safe" to revert to stock in order to get consistent wifi signal, or if it's something I'm experiencing because of the ROM I'm using.
Thanks!
So, I figured I'd share since I couldn't find much information on the forums about this.
I recently, within last few weeks, started having issues with the modem on my GNex.
I had been running a ROM derived from AOSP Jelly Bean without issue, except the modem seemed to get poor signal quality.
I tried to upgrade the modem once the official Sprint JB release of FH05 started spreading.
At some point afterwards it seemed the modem would inexplicably start to die periodically... (By die I mean the status would change to searching and/or not connected and the status icon would change to no service icon). I could sometimes trigger life back in at times by toggling CDMA/LTE or CDMA Only options or the data enabled options or rebooting...
I went through a period of continually trying to reflash the various radios FD02, FC12, FH05... all in an attempt to get stability.
I had persistent issues even trying to flash the radios. The LTE radio would always flash fine, but the CDMA radio would often hang in flashboot forcing me to sever connection and restart.
This never seemed to fix the issue and I began to think I might either have bad flash memory on the radio partition or there was a problem with the radio hardware causing this issue.
I then remembered I had dropped the phone on concrete and it landed on the modem side of the phone... phone seemed fine besides a few new dings, but operated ok. I considered maybe this had something to do with the state of things.
Last night I took my phone back off using these instructions: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Teardown/7182/1
I basically just jostled the internals a bit hoping to fix maybe a simple misalignment...
It has been a solid 12 hours and everything seems to be running strong.
This is purely speculation, but given that I haven't been able to consistently replicate any scenario other than it not working... I am hoping this is the fix.
I hope it might help someone else, or someone else with a similar problem can confirm or provide alternate conclusion.
I am currently running:

Tried to sell phone on ebay because the wifi adapter was showing issues with range... I bought another and it was clear that the range of the older phone was having issues...
Tried to sell on ebay and buyer couldn't activate... just sent back and I can't get it to accept a flash at all... maybe trying the taking apart trick again...
Crazy
Hi all, from what I've read this is a documented problem, but I haven't really found a satisfactory answer for it yet.
I live in a college town with various areas of bad receptions (such as buildings). When I lose connectivity in an area of bad reception, occasionally I will not regain reception once I move back into an area where I should. I then have to toggle Airplane mode to get reception again.
I also have a history of failing to receive texts from people sometimes, and it's starting to really annoy me.
I've flashed many roms, updated firmwares from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4, including bootloader, radio, and more, and it still happens. Has anyone else experienced this problem and managed to fix it, before I move to another phone as a last resort?

I have a similar problem as well. Radio drops out, need to restart my phone constantly. If I recycle the radio (turn airplane mode on/off), the phone locks up and reboots.
Having trouble finding ANY guidance on firmware for this issue :/
More info needs to be posted like current rom/firmware, past roms/flashes or processes used , custom or stock recovery. All this will help others help you.

Found this post, seems to be what I was looking for: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59443804&postcount=158
For background, I'm running the latest Dirty Unicorns 5.0.2 release. Went to that from 5.0.2 GPE official. Device version is TMO M919.
What modem are you currently on?
You can flash the latest nk2 modem using Odin and try it out , if that doesn't work you can try NH7.

This may have been posted, If so, sorry, I could not find it.
Now that that I have installed the T-mo Lollipoop update, my phone is a paperweight. As I don't suppose T-mo will replace it....
Is there anyway to roll the LG-G3 back to KitKat or whatever version it was on WHEN IT WORKED PERFECTLY?
Any help would be appreciated, it is useless as it is.

I ask this when fixing computers, why is it a paper weight lol.. whats wrong with the phone ? we need moar nfo ...
Paperweight
No or Spotty Wi/Fi
Cell signal has almost vanished (it I stand next to a T-mo tower I can get 5 bars for a minute)
Cell signal keeps dropping so the phone is constantly searching for a signal
Due to constantly searching for signals, the battery drain is actually watchable on the notification screen, about 1% a minute.
Phone will not stay connected long enough to complete a call.
All of these Issues happened after Lollipoop.
Hence, is there a way do "Upgrade" it back to Kit Kat.
I could not find anything on her about it. I did find a video on Youtube, but it was for a Verizon unit, not sure if it would be the same or not
I have two phones, same issue on both phones.

Unfortunately from my experiences and other people's experiences downgrading to Kitkat after Lollipop with data issues, you will still have those data issues when you go back to Kitkat. It seems going back to Kitkat via KDZ or TOT does not restore the modem or it does but the modem still does not function correctly. The only way to fix LTE and data issues was to flash Blisspop 2.3 and determining that data sticks on that rom. If it does, your data and modem issues should be resolved and you can use stock lollipop again. If you want to try this route here is my thread on how to fix it. Make sure you are rooted with twrp

Once I do that I will lose WiFi calling won't I?
It is my understanding once you over write T-mo's Rom you lose that.

Yes and No flashing blisspop rom will just fixed your data and LTE issues, I'm not telling you to keep the rom, that is entirely up to you. Yes keeping custom roms that are not stock will lose wifi calling and all the tmobile stuff. After you can confirm that LTE and data works you can then flash back to stock or restore to stock. That way you can still have Wifi calling and have a stock rom.
