Hey guys, here's another Feed for the Galaxy S6 Edge--MusicPlayer! This is shown when you do the back and forth touch motion on the edge while the screen is off. It allows you to control your music, from any(?) music-playing app.
PLEASE READ!
You MUST do this before the Feed will work! Go to Settings->Lock screen and security->Other security settings->(Advanced) Notification access-> *Enable* MusicPlayer Cocktail Feed

Once installed and rebooted the listener is spot on and updates the feed instantly. If you do that and it's still updating slowly let me know.

This is the most useful thing for my edge screen so far. I'm always on the subway and buses and this sure beats turning on the whole screen just to change songs every time. Great job!

+1 to what graffixnyc said; thus far the most useful notification on my Edge. Works beautifully with Spotify in terms of showing what song is playing, but wouldn't mind the ability to change track, pause and play songs from the Edge screen (not sure if the limitation is Spotify specific as I don't use any other applications for songs).

I use Spotify and I'm able to change tracks, play and pause

I just downloaded Spotify, although I've never used it a day in my life, and it worked perfectly straight away. If after a restart it's still causing issues, send me a logcat of you hitting the buttons, first, separately, then one of you changing the song within the app. I've added a lot of behind the scenes debugging info for situations like that, so just send it my way and I'll see what I can do. For example I just downloaded Pandora, and noticed it doesn't work quite right, so I'll debug that some tomorrow!

Hmm, odd. I've just tried disabling all other feeds I had active and now it won't recognise Spotify at all (just the headphones icon).
Uninstalled/reinstalled it, same thing. Rebooted phone before and after, also same thing. Spotify plays fine, but the feed doesn't recognise it.
I also occasionally get 'Unfortunately, MusicPlayer Cocktail Feed has stopped'.
Which variant S6 Edge do you have graffixnyc? I have the SM-G925I model.

You may not need to, although it will still be appreciated if done-- after some usage I experienced similar symptoms, so I might be able to debug myself when I have an opportunity to!

I did, but it still wouldn't allow changes to the audio tracks. It is hit and miss (managed to fluke it working once. After the screen blacked out I swiped back and forth for notifications and it disappeared again).
Seems like trailblazer101 may have found something, so we'll see how he gets on. I'll still try and get the logcat though, when I'm able to.
Great job on this. It works great with rocket player. Only issue I have seen so far has something to do with beyond pod. Everytime I open this app to listen to a podcast I get "Unfortunately, MusicPlayer Cocktail Feed has stopped."

it supposedly tells you the city name of the caller, and my understanding it's a trial app.

I didn't replace it with anything. Att Address book simply adds list of ATT phone numbers to your address book

i've set-up all of 6 my email accounts in gmail and use only gmail on the phone. i can change reply froms/to all that, works well for me but i run everything i can through gmail/google crap

the only issue with this setup is that you are not in control how often google checks your 6 other accounts, it could be 5 minutes, could be 50.
I prefer push mail, which Nitro lacks of by default unless it's exchange mail.

yup, any close contacts and emergency issues/etc. get my gmail addy for a speedy update! the rest can wait,it's usually in the 20 minute range.

It's probably the stock Launcher. Which means it is ONLY safe to freeze IF you have another launcher installed that is stable. Otherwise on boot you're going to be in a lot of trouble.

A word of warning about freezing att address book. If you freeze it, you may not be able to add contacts from the phone (i am speaking from my personal experience, if someone could confirm that would be great), even if you do even have any contacts with att address book. I think it is integrated in and breaks something in the stock contacts app that freezes the whole process because when I try to add contacts it freezes on a gray screen. When I unfreeze the app, adding contacts works again.
figured i'd bump this with an update.
IMO, freezing all this shiz has done more for perf and batt life than Juice Defender or Ram manager.

That's in addition to deleting all the available apps ATT lets us delete. family finder, etc.
Sorry guys, noob here, but I thought I should add my feedback to this list - I froze nearly every app listed here, (except for a few that I use, like calculator) had setCPU installed, and my phone is now acting really laggy. I'm not really sure what to attribute this to. The root? Frozen apps? I uninstalled SetCPU and tried to defrost the apps I had frozen (both with a batch and individually), but it won't let me. I tried making a copy of the frozen app, then deleting, then re-installing the copied version (suggested on another XDA thread), but that does not work. It just hangs when deleting as well. Can someone else verify that Titanium Backup is defrosting / deleting / restoring as expected on the Nitro?
Another weird side effect is that my internal storage says its almost full, which is crazy considering I never installed a new app after freezing those apps, and last time I checked I had plenty of space. Is it possible for Titanium Backup to be caching somewhere other than the SD? It's pretty weird. I really don't have many apps installed. Also (and perhaps this is due to the low system space, or specifically attributed to a frozen app) But my video playback is crazy laggy now.
Just thought I would post this to see if anyone else is getting weirdness after freezing apps.

I just factory reset (which I never did after root) and reinstalled setCPU and its working great. I even tested the HD videos again and they are now running smooth. Still a bit scared to start freezing apps again. For now I've just hidden them in launcher pro. Out of sight, out of mind I guess.

I had issues unfreezing Address Book which I did initially without thinking. After I froze it and realized you couldn't add contacts I tried unfreezing it. However, it wasn't on my list of frozen apps or backed up apps. I had to to a factory reset to bring it all back.
So far I haven't had any problems freezing/unfreezing, yet I did not play with many unfreezing apps. However I did notice on some backups (especially if they came from different phone), TB would freeze during restore, but in most cases it turned out to be due to dev mode disabled in the settings (thanks LG for disabling it for us each time we use any options other then "PC connect" when phone connected to PC). So as long as I have dev mode enabled, I don't recall having any problems with TB.
Speaking of SetCPU, I also noticed lagginess with default settings, but it mostly only visible right after reboot. After phone been used for a while it's smooth as iPhone (ok, almost...ok, not really, but close).
This also make me think, that Nitro by default keeps CPU at 1.5ghz at all times, it would explain lagginess if it has to jump from 192mhz to 1.5ghz as per SetCPU default. Maybe if you set min and max to 1.5ghz will it still be more laggy then with no SetCPU?
I've had this phone for a week now and loving the screen, form-factor, games and general ICS+Sense 4 functionality. I think I may have been lucky with mine as I haven't had any screen jitters, ripple effects, yellow blocks, loose glass or issues in general.
Having said that, I have a few gripes and wondering if other people feel the same way or know if there is a workaround to fix these little niggling issues... In particular:
Changing a music track when browsing the web (or doing anything else for that matter)
I cue up a bunch of songs on shuffle, then start browsing the web. A song comes on that I don't like. I have to either switch to the home page or the music app to skip the current track. Why aren't there "next" or "previous" buttons in the status pulldown menu? I can pause... but nothing else... frustrating that I have to switch apps just to change tracks.
Bringing the phone out of standby
So the size of the phone is great an all but the power button is a little frustrating to push. It's angled toward the front, and normally my hand will be behind the phone, making it an effort to try to hit the button. It's also not very pronounced making this even harder. It would be great if there was an easier way to bring it out of standby like with the capacitive home button or the volume rocker somehow...
Useless included apps can't be uninstalled
There are a few apps that HTC have included in their stock ROM. Why can I not uninstall these?! All these apps do at the moment is make it more difficult for me to locate the icons of the actual apps I want to use in the apps menu.
Anyone else feel the same way about any/all of the above?
That's it from me for now, VERY happy with the phone and can't wait to see what the XDA Devs can do with this beast!
1) Try a different music player, Poweramp or such.
2) Should be available on custom roms
3) Go into apps in settings then from there you can disable unwanted items. Alternatively root and delete using Titanium or Root explorer.

I haven't got my phone yet but whenever I see a screenshot of the apps I see Crappy Birds and Amazon mp3.
I sure hope that crappy crap game isn't in the ROM by default...
No but there's another annoying game along other stuff called "Teeter" on the phone. They better get paid a crapload of money for this bloatware to be installed on their devices.
Noticed the power button to wake myself: Angle is really not that well placed.
I don't like another thing: Being able to change volume without unlocking the screen always causes me to do just that: The volume rocker is too big to miss it when holding the phone in the hand normally.
Apart from that: Incredible phone!

Teeter is an HTC game and has been included on just about everyone of their phones for the last five years.

SPH-D710 unrooted work phone. I dont want to root it.
I like to stream the live local news on my phone occasionally. Since my ICS 4.0.4 update I have been unable to watch the news. I have Adobe Air fully updated and my 2 news apps are updated. I get no error messages, just a blank box where the video normally plays. It will play Videos from Youtube and other typical flash video sites. It just wont stream live content.
I contacted Samsung live chat and they were worthless. Typical suggestions like hard reset and update apps etc all of which I have done..
Any ideas?

What news apps are you trying to use?
my local news app. fox29 news and 6abc. the live feed only runs when the news is airing. I used to watch it all the time, but I cant anymore.
Try using a different flash player app such as swflasher (I think) or media player such as mxplayer. I've had problems with the adobe flash player

I am unrooted. I installed the Adobe Flash player from your link. I thought it fixed the problem. Now there is video, but after 10-15 seconds the video freezes then the audio skips all over the place then that freezes too..I uninstalled the previous flash player I had except Adobe Air.. Do you think they are in conflict?

Could be. Without testing to your particular stream, it would be difficult for me to narrow down the issue. You could go to an older flash and test. One distributed around the time you first used it.

nope, update the google play music app and it will give you the chance to subscribe and it gives you details

Well, signed up for the trial. I'll see how it goes. I love the simplicity and functionality of Rhapsody, because I listen to offline albums all the time. If the trial goes well, I'm all over it. 10 devices?! That rocks!

if you sign up before the end of june it will be 7.99 for life. there is a little pin on the artists, albums. its called "pin" thats basically making tracks/albums/artists available offline.
this thing works AMAZING. ive tried spotify, pandora, and loved rhapsody. but this is truly innovative.
if you swipe left from the right of the screen when your streaming a "radio" it lets you peek at the next song. and if you click on the top icon "a list with a music note" it lets you see the entire radio playlist ahead of you. you can delete songs you dont want, and even rearrange the order of songs. you can also replay, and rewind songs your listening to. pandora, rhapsody. bye bye
Really loving this app update. Play Music sucked hard before this; album art and the little progress circle would disappear anytime you closed out the app, crashed for me, just generally not something I'd expect from Google. Now we've got $7.99 a month unlimited streaming with no ads that works on my phone AND through any browser, very nice looking new UI (even if some people aren't feeling the orange), I'm very happy! Spotify Premium might soon be cancelled!
Now if I can get gapless playback to actually work, it'll get that five star rating.
A weird thing I've noticed a couple times is that I'll choose a song to stream, and it'll work, but the audio quality is pretty crappy. To fix, I choose another song and then back to the first one, and voila, good quality. Not sure if it's my gloriously slow Sprint connection or an issue with the app.
I'm on the trial too... Searched for different artist and built a playlist with around 65 songs and now All Access added around 20 more automatically to my queue based on the artist and songs I was listening to.
I was swtiching between Slacker, Spotify and Grooveshark (locked in $3mo introductory)... Can't compare paid services with the first two since the free one gave what I was looking for. But this is basically Grooveshark on steriods! It's a bit tricky to get used to the UI and add songs to queue, tap on the wrong area and it plays that song and deletes your current queue creating a new station based on that artist.
What I don't like so far is the "dancing" album art when in app "listening now", flips side to side although looking at better it seems that the album art is too big and its doing a scroll to show all of it. Find it a bit annoying, but it could be just me :silly: It's missing the Android share feature, apparently it only shares on Google+ and apparenlty you only have that feature if you have the G+ app installed. I don't and the share option is missing, a friend has G+ installed and the option appears for him. Might need further confirmation... I really don't use G+ so I haven't seen the need to install it, barely use FB anyhow.
Would be nice to have the ability to change the theme of the UI, have different options. The orange/white layout is ok, but it's a bit too shocking. Bet some themers are already decompiling this thing and seeing if its possible to change it around :fingers-crossed:
I tested it with my car radio, Pioneer DEH-X9500BHS, with BT and sound output is really good. The display shows artist and track but it didn't show the track time, maybe in the next update.
So far, this is a keeper and good for the $9.99 but even better for the $7.99 introductory fee
Edit - Widget should have dislike or thumbs down button, only has thumbs up...
But all in all this is a great for a new service launch!
Only downside so far is the lack of sd card ability. No problem on my GS3, bit on my kids' Conquers, not so great.

Okay, spoke a little too soon. The ui and functionality for one wanting music "pinned" for off-line listening is not very intuitive. The download speeds are atrocious, which I see has been a Play Music issue for a while. No way to cancel pinning/downloading, and apart from clearing app data, I don't see a way to remove tracks from the phone.
I love the sound quality and the equalizer over Rhapsody. I love having the ability to download to more than 3 devices. I hope that they do some improving during this trial phase, because I like the sound and the principle. Even Rhapsody responding to the competition and improving would be terrific.

Black Pandora is totally free. No commercials and unlimited skips. Just sign in w ur normal Pandora account n all ur channels are there. Pm me for a link.

I'm downloading a few pinned songs now, very slow indeed!
As for deleting them, there is a clear cache option in settings but my assumption is that it'll delete all the songs you've downloaded or cached during playback. There is an unpin option if you tap the bottom left of the song tile (horizontal ...), try that and see if it removed that particular track. I'll give all that a shot when it finishes downloading, at this rate it'll be tomorrow morning
Nothing but f/c's for me. And it's atrociously ugly. Google effed this app up. Back to the previous version for me... orange and white, what is google thinking? The new gtalk- hangouts is even worse...

2 looks way better imo with it FULLSCREEN and the pictures nice and big
3 finally figured out how to stop auto updating.
I went as far as disabling play store to test if it was play store... Still updated..
So I've used app cloner with a few tweaked settings and she's now done updating finally!!!!
I was testing some modded apps but they all broke the stories button to add a story.
This works 100 as it should!
If anyone is interested let me know I will do a step by step!
One issue.. No notifications. I'm still on it will update later
if you need some additional users let us know. Whoever designed the apps for foldables was definitely smoking something lol

Please share a step by step method to optimise Instagram, thanks in advance.
I've been working nonstop to try and figure this out.
Facebook:
Option A
For Facebook, I can lock it from updating with a step by step guide the only issues are
1. I doesn't push notifications but does retrieve them
2. If a marketplace listing or Facebook link is sent to you through messenger it opens in the browser not the app, cannot get this fixed..
Option B
Install a certain version of Facebook and don't ever close the app out (this way all links open and messenger and Facebook read each other as they should) found the right app that keeps stories intact!
Guide; install 376.0.0.12.108 (arm64-v8a) (nodpi) (Android 10+) login force close once it will update once then leave it alone no closing it out. (App or phone restart will call for a reinstall)
Option c
I found an older modded Facebook app that will auto update after the first close to a current version without forcing the app to tablet mode
(This app blocks ads reals and stories but breaks connection to messenger completely, meaning if you click the top right messenger button in Facebook it will prompt you to install which it already is..
Instagram:
Download version 253.x.x.x.x and block auto updates
Messenger:
Found an ad blocked version that works but completely breaks connection to all fb apps.
Instagram is flawless
Facebook is silently updating every night at 12.. it's NOT play store, I disabled to test.
My current setup is option B for Facebook. I'm sure I will have to reinstall every now and then but it's worth having the full screen
I've been fighting this hard as I feel they really wasted some space and cut a bunch of all the pictures to make it work..
I've tried cloning the apk with messing with Android version, play store ids, everything
Option B is the best option with everything working nothing broke

After trying to get Verizon on esim I had to restart and lost my Facebook and it has been fighting hard since....
Facebook setting, search media, device settings, media and contacts and shut off auto update app. I finally found it! Was hidden deep in the settings
Last reply. Updates turned off and I can finally restart my phone and do whatever without it silently updating.
Finally have won this battle !

I don't, it's not fully utilized to me, it cuts a lot of pics off on the sides

Interesting, I guess I don't notice pictures being cut off. I thought the new layout was better optimized for the fold screen. To each there own though.
