Been an eternity since I used HTC devices in this way.
I have a demo HTC One M8, and have S-Off and changed the CID from HTC__002 ot HTC__001 in order to stop the demo content from installing itself. I then installed the latest Lollipop RUU.
As I have changed the CID, will this device now receive OTA updates as a standard device would? The RUU I flashed is the one the HTC__001 models would have received.
Yes it will

Hi,
I hope this is the correct forum now for the Question.
I followed guides to get Radio S-Off and SuperCID. This appearently worked and asking gives the SuperCID:
Code:
# AT(at)CID?
(at)CID: 11111111
But the Bootloader (SHIP) still passes androidboot.cid=VODAP120 to the kernel (Previous A1 Austria Branding). And therefore the DHD still sends this cid during the OTA update check for example (which results in not showing the 1.72 update).
Is there any way to fix this? (Do I have to install another bootloader?)
Any Ideas where the DHD still remembers VODAP120?
CIDs
After some Additional Testing: There seems to be something wrong with SuperCID.
If I change the CID to something other than 11111111 with Easy Radio Tool, this CID (HTC__102) gets used by the bootloader and also the DHD then shows HTC__102 on getprop ro.cid.
If I set it back to 11111111 the ro.cid again displays the original VODAP120.
So, what is wrong with superCID - and what exactly is the benefit of superCID anyway?
SuperCID appearently is not necessary for downgrading a HTC Stock ROM. So I am fine for the moment with cid HTC__102 and SW 1.72.405.3
anyway I am still confused about all of that.
Htc_102 is an unlocked/unbranded wwe phone so I guess super cid doesn't matter in this case since that code amounts top the same thing - being able to use any sim card.

Yup. That is why I set it with the Easy Radio Tool.
Still somewhere in in the depth of the DHD it still remembers the VODAP120. But now it does not cause any probs any more.
It is a bug in gfree, the core app that my tool uses. Devs are working on it, but your device does still have real SuperCID. It is just the software side that thinks otherwise.
Hey there!
I installed the GPE RUU last week and i just noticed that graffixnyc said that my CID must be the same of GPE CID or the OTA updates will fail.
My question is do i have to make my CID like GPE CID even if its a SuperCID? or SuperCID is enough to get an OTA update without failing?
GOOGL1 or whatever it is or you won't get ota's. It is easy to change in fast boot mode and easy to check and change back. Provided you are s-off of course.

Thx bro! So I have to change it to GOOGL1 right?
GOOGL001 is the correct CID, for the OTA updates to work.
OK if I change my present cid vodap001 to an international one will I get the update without waiting for vodaphone to roll it out as my handset is unlocked and on Giff gaff but it appears that I still have to wait to get updates from Vodafone and will I have to install all Vodafone's bloatware if I get Voda's update and if I can change my cid to achieve this does anyone know what cid I should change it to thanks in advance
SuperCID (11111111) (S-Off NEEDED!) first, then flash international RUU when done change CID HTC__001
back your phone up RUU will wipe clean
[**Solved** ]
Hi, I've been on xda forum for a couple of years.
Since HTC Desire HD way back in day of Android Froyo.
Owned a few HTC phones, Nexus 5 plus Samsung Note 3 & Note 4.
Plenty experience of rooting and flashing.
Including changing MID (Model id) and CID back and forth
EG changed M7 WWE to Google phone edition.
My problem is I own M9 hima WWE
Model is 0PJA10000
CID HTC__001
I am S off and unlocked.
I changed to hima att by changing mid to 0PJA11000
CID changed to 11111111
I did this to allow mm to be installed via USA developer ruu.
Now WWE version 3.35.401.12 is available I was trying to change back to original mid 0PJA10000 & CID back to HTC__001
using usual command
Fastboot (HTC_fast boot) oem writeMID 0PJA10000
& fastboot oem writeCID HTC__001
It appears to execute commands but doesn't change mid and cid
Any help appreciated
PS I have previously changed my M9 mid and cid to developer edition and back to WWE (.401)
If you change the mid and cid wouldn't that bork the software currently on it seeing as the software is locked?.

No the intention is to change mid and cid back to wwe then flash .401 firmware then rom based on WWE version of marshmallow
Hello dear friends,
I bought a HTC One M8 from China. The phone is originally made for USA T-Mobile but it comes with a changed RUU with Android 5.0.1 which can not be updated. The MID is 0P6B13000 and CID is changed to supercid already (111111111). I would like to install on it a European RUU (latest version) originaly made for MID 0P6B10000. I don't know if there is any actual difference between 0P6B10000 and 0P6B13000 or if their RUUs can be exchanged with one another. Can I already download a European RUU and directly install it? Should I not do it? Should I change MID and CID as those of an European version? Or should I restore the factory CID and leave the MID as it already is? I have also read that before installing a last version RUU I have to update the firmware, is that correct? If anyone with good experience can give me good advice and if possible usefull links of tutorials and downloads I would much appreciate it.
Thank you in all advance!

To flash an RUU, you need to pass CID check and MID check. SuperCID means you will pass any CID check. But you still need to pass the MID check. That means, if you want to flash the Euro RUU, you need to change the MID to 0P6B10000.
Guide on changing the MID is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581

That is a slightly complicated question. Euro version is probably desirable for most folks, since it removed the T-Mobile branding (exception might be if you are actually using T-Mob US as your carrier, and want WiFi calling).
The other issue would be, what bands does your carrier use, and which version supports those bands (as flashing the RUU will change band support). Again, for many folks Euro RUU is probably better. But it depends on you carrier (what bands they use for 3G and LTE).

If you want to flash an RUU to update from LP to MM, then yes that is true that you need to flash the MM firmware before the MM RUU. Otherwise, the RUU will fail with Error 155.
Don't you have to s-on before using the RUU also?
You also don't need to change your mid, just change it in the android-info.txt unless you plan to use international roms to get the full benefits (some Roms setup based on mid)
