My One X is constantly switching between 3g and 4g/H+. Is that normal? I'm in a pretty well covered area and shouldn't be switching back and forth. I was wondering if there was a better baseband/radio that I could try.

You can't flash radios until we have S-Off.
I'm also having the same issue. Has anyone figured out how to fix the issue with the constant 3g to H switching?
Any help is appreciated.
Some of the people who own a the S3 on Verizon are reporting issues with reception between 3G and LTE especially the handoff between CDMA and lte. Is anyone who has this phone on AT&T experiencing similar issues?
I'm not having any issues using the LTE apn (default).

Sprint Galaxy S3 network connection issues
Good day everyone. I just recently purchased a New Galaxy S3 from a local Spint store. I have been a loyal Sprint customer for 15 years. I have owned many different phones (Star-Tac, Sony, Touch-pro 1-2, Evo, EVO 4G) Over the past 2 weeks since buying the S3, I've noticed a SERIOUS drop in network connectivity, both Data & Cell for absolutely no reason. Now, stop me if I'm wrong, but on my Evo 4G, I could connect to the internet EVEN if I didn't have a 3g signal... As long as I had Cell bars, I could access the web no problem. So the S3 is giving me some headaches and I've seen on other forums that others are too. These people are on diffferent carriers too.
So here's my issue. When I'm in a GOOD STRONG Sprint network, I've been attempting to access the web (Google Store or You-Tube) and have seen the 3g or 4G icon on the bar show data up/downloading then WINK, they dissappear and I get a "No connection RETRY" window. I've made many changes, selected CDMA instead of CDMA/LTE, vice-cersa. I've updated PRL, Profile, Firmware and even have the new Jelly Bean 4.1.1
I've contacted Samsung and "Chatted" with a technician, but this person had NO clue of this issue... I gave them the links to this and other Android forums...
So do I take it back? Revert back to my Evo? I have to say, the speed and versatility on the S3 when it's good, is GREAT, but I'm not one to have some half good, especially one so expensive...
Any imput is appreciated... :fingers-crossed:

I get stellar reception and speeds in major cities and highways throughout the state. Honestly I've never seen my phone drop to 3G but I'm not in rural areas often. I have see speedtests as high as 65mb down in Austin.
Nope nope nope.. All well n good

Out in a 4G area here in Minneapolis, MN. It might have been a fluke with CM10, but my signal would cut in and out every 30 minutes or so. Flashed AOKP and it works fine, but it was weird.
Hi i have Galaxy s3 ATT i747 unlocked and every ROM i install give me 3G.. If i leave stock ROM it gives me 4G with know problems.. Is there any fix i can do that will give me 4G and modem i can install. Im on tmobile network
Can you see your IMEI number? I lost mine while flashing roms and the network couldn't recognize my phone, so it booted me down to 3g (but I'm on ATT).

Do your roms have the correct apn's?
I'm having connectivity challenges when trying 4.2.2 roms on Rogers w/ my i747m.
Tried most of the recommended modems on for i747m (complete modem list) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831898
with CM10.1 and AOKP Task650.
The result, at worst little to no connectivity, at best intermittent connectivity. It doesn't seem to want to switch between towers and getting connectivity better than gprs or edge is pretty much non-existent
When I burn the rooted Rogers ROM - root66_RWC_I747MVLDLK4.tar.md5 I get good connectivity switching and 3G. I haven't seen LTE yet but it was only officially rolled out here 9 days ago so it's still crap and only partially out.
I'm about to roll back to the rooted ROM and apply the latest Canadian patch via KIES and give up on S3 mods. If some kind canadian has the time or inclination a faq/step by step on a S3 rogers install that actually works would be very appreciated. I've tried most of the recipes on XDA, task650, cyanomodgen and can't seem to come up with a working combination that gives me data/phone service that is at least as good as stock.
thanks,
rf

This may be correct. Do other ROMs switch between 3G and H+? Do you see 4G vice 4G LTE on stock rom? What download speeds are you getting on stock and other ROMs? With AT&T, HSPA was labeled 4G instead of H or H+. They had to add LTE to the 4G after LTE went online for them in order to differentiate a difference. The majority of places have HSPA labeled as H or H+ and LTE is considered true 4G. I have noticed that many ROMs will show 3G until data is received/sent and it switches to H+.
I flashed my stock rom to hyperdrive rom. My stock s3 got 4G all day at my house. After i flashed it to a different rom, I mainly get 3G, sometimes it will get 4g (says h+). All my phones i owned previously i would have 4G all day at my house. My mom's and sisters S3 (which are stock) have 4G ALL DAY. My question is what did i screw up when i flashed this new rom?
also I have t-mobile and i live near SF california

Its normal, it goes from 3G and H+ on stock too but T-Mobile put a 4G icon instead for both 3G and H+

It's false advertising. No problem on your end.

H+ = Tmo's version of 4G. Do know its misleading carrier crap that makes you confuse between 4G, 4G LTE and other BS.
Do a speed test and then see for yourself. I have as a matter of fact better speed on AOSP than Stock.
ok thanks guys, i will do a speed test on my phone and my sisters phone when she comes back.
Hello all!
I have a new Motorola G8 play, using AT&T....
Currently I don't have 4g LTE at this point. It has an H by the cell signal icon.
I do have data, but it seems a little slower than I was expecting.
I tried a couple different APN settings based on web results, but they weren't the solution.
Any idea what I can do before I go to the AT&T store?
It can this phone get 4g LTE? I am in the US.
Can't go till tomorrow, so just curious.
Thanks in advance!
Yes this phone has compatibility with 4G LTE. Maybe your area doesn't have good reception for LTE? If so it switches to a lower quality but more stable ( because slower but stable is better than a stuttering connection)
