[Q] [q] Failed RUU - black screen with /!\ issue - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear All,
I am digging through the forum for couple of hours but after reading number of tutorials and threads I stuck with no answer to my problem.
Here is the issue:
I have HTC Desire (Bravo) PVT3 with S-Off and Alpha Rev CM7 r2.
I Tried to Flash original ROM RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed. The process failed and I have ended up with black screen and /!\ in every corner. I tried to solve the problem with with THIS tutorial (POINT 4) but I did not succeed.
I cannot flash Bravo Stock with Android Flasher (version 2.0.0) as it freezes. Links to newer version of the flasher seems to be dead - so are links to number of other utilities on the forum .
Could anyone help me bring the phone to life, please? I probably (!) even have got a goldcard (it was created long time ago, never used even not sure if it was ever working). I want to flash any rom to make the phone usable, not necessarily stock one.
After unplugging usb from the PC, the phone is in ruu mode and displays following info:
Alpha Rev CM7 r2
Bravo PVT3 Ship S-OFF
HBOOT-6. 93. 1002
Microp-051d
Touch Panel -SYNW0101
Radio-4. 06. 00. 02_2
Date, time
Many thanks for any ideas....

I assume that you're after reading HTC Desire (Bravo) Troubleshooting Guide, Chapter [4]: RUU PROBLEMS.
Try another flasher, e.g. Universal Android Flasher v1.40 b.

Just use fastboot commands to flash stock hboot then run the ruu.
The command is -
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img
The reason the ruu failed is because the system partition in the cm7r2 hboot is too small for the ruu.

I have read the tutorial. I am trying to flash "bravo_alphaspl.img" with BOOT option of Universal Android Flasher v1.40 but it doesn't work. -FAILED (remote: image error! (BootMagic check fail))
finished. total time: 0.089s

In the same way that you read in bortak's quide.
First you need to be sure that you have the IMG for hboot and that through adb you have connection to the device.

OK, I have downloaded "Bravo Stock" from Alpharev but I cannot boot to fastbood mode (back and power don't work).
How to check adb connection or how to establish it? While trying to flash with adb flasher from the tool you have provided there is error: phone not found

Pull the battery out then put back in, then press and hold back + power Or vol down + power. /!\ in each corner is the same as fastboot mode. So when u get that screen, plug in ur phone and type the fastboot command
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl.img
Then type
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then run the ruu.

It seems I don't have adb connection.
I installed new Android SDk Tools as is in here [Tutorial] How to install Android SDK tool & HTC's drivers [BEGINNERS FRIENDLY], new HTC drivers "HTCDriver_4.2.0.001.exe" from [DRIVERS] Latest HTC Drivers [4.2.0.001] and Java.
When I type in command line adb devices there is none listed. When I try adb reboot command it says no device connected. Phone is in fastboot mode (black htc screen with /!\ in corners)

OK, It works! Sorry. I loaded hboot image. Many thanks for all of you!
Two more questions: in case I load stock RUU will I S-ON the phone? Can I load now any other rom (aplplicabe for stock hboot) using fastboot and how? Or should I better load ruu and than try to load rom from .zip file using bootloader?

try using RUU manually:
extract rom.zip from the RUU* and stick it in your C:\
boot into fastboot mode, plug your phone in and open command prompt and type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flashzip C:\rom.zip
fastboot reboot
*to extract the rom.zip run the RUU (but do not proceed with the process, just open it, do NOT click next, don't even plug in your phone for that matter lol), select "run" from the start menu, then type in %temp%, This will opened a folder with a bunch of files and folders, use the "sort by date" feature, and select "today". there should only be 2 folders left, search inside them and the rom.zip should be in one of them, amongst many other androidy files

does anyone think i got stuck in the loop because i was s-on with leedroid?

--UPDATE--
After much faffing around, i used the revolution beta one click s-off, and have now managed to get back too Standard Tmobile RUU.
Being the sucker that I am, I retried the Leedroid HD rom with no luck (hang on logo)
Using correct recommended radio, ext3 partitioned sd. cwm 2.7.0.5 (or is it 2.5.0.7?) rooted s-off.
Its a shame, I really wanted Sense 3

hey, yesterday i had same problem. just wanted to go to stock rom and i stucked on same screen. and windows didn't see my sd card. so what i did:
booted to linux ubuntu, somehow linux saw my sd card, with gparted i deleted all partitions and reformated sd card. when i downloaded android flasher 2.2 i gues and flashed original bootloader from alpharev.nl, and flashed rocovery img. when i started official ruu 2.3 and everything went fine. now i am on original rom and have working phone . but i think that main problem was cm7r2 hboot. so i think you just need to flash original hboot and run ruu rom. ruu rom you can get from second or third thread in development section. good luck.

im not smart in the phone world Sorry
Assuming you are an HTC Desire HD or Inspire 4G user, are S-On, have an unlocked bootloader, and are stuck on the boot splash after flashing a ROM, you need to fastboot flash the ROM zip's boot.img as follows.
1. Get the boot.img: unzip the ROM zip on your PC and navigate into the folder from the file manager. You should see a boot.img file. Open a terminal there (in Windows, shift-rightclick in the folder; if using Linux or Mac, I expect you to know how to do this).
2. Put your phone in fastboot mode: connect your phone to the computer, reboot into hboot by holding power + volume-down, navigate to "fastboot" with the volume buttons, and select it with the power button.
3. Fastboot flash the boot.img: from the command window,
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
4. Reboot.
Note: you will need to do this each time you flash a ROM, but not each time you restore a nandroid.

I don't use this phone anymore, but look around the Development forums. The most active ROM threads float to the top. The OPs will give you a good idea of what each ROM is like.

Flash boot.img is only necessary for s-on. If you have s-off device, just flashing rom in recovery is enough.

If you unlocked your bootloader you are S-On. Make sure by rebooting into the bootloader (hold power and volume-down). Read my signature for the boot.img thing.

You are S-Off with no recovery. Just flash one from fastboot and flash a ROM from there. Instructions in the Ace Think Tank thread linked in my signature.

No. glevitan's guide in post #7 has a section about being S-Off with no recovery.
sorry I read all in that post but I can't find .... please help :|
I try to flash the recovery img (using adb) but don't work (no allowed)...... Soo, what i have to do ?
Is not my first root but this is different :|
The linked PDF guide...? There's a section around page 8 or 9 that talks about being S-Off with no recovery.
I see this:
But in step 5 the mirror is deleted and i can't download it and in steps 6 and 7 i don't understand .. :| give me a good steps exactly for me ( remember i don't have acces the root, only $), i remain indebted.
Code:
S-OFF with no custom recovery : you need to reflash a custom recovery to be able to flash a custom room again. Follow this steps:
1) Boot in hboot and choose fastboot.
2) Plug the phone to the pc ( you have to see fastboot in red in the phone )
3) Open cmdas admin or terminal as root in the pc.
4) type ( case sensitive ) :
5) wget "link" -no- check certificate
6) Fastboot oem rebootRUU ( that will put your phone in RUU mode, witch black screen with silver HTC )
7) Fastboot flash zip cwm-5.0.2.7-ace.zip (it will send the firt and then flash it)
8) When you see OKAY. Finished (ner the button in the cmd session even if the green bar in the phone is at half way).
9) Fastboot reboot-bootloader.
10) Voila..check and you should have CWM again.

Certainly, your highness. Download a recovery image. Flash it from fastboot. Flash a ROM from recovery. If you want more detail you need to search. The answers are all available.
i try man , when i try to flash a recovery.img (using adb) says "no allowed".... :|

Like I've already said, from fastboot. Not ADB.

are you even in hboot??? maybe you should do some research...that is a step by step detailed way on flashing a recovery. Device 101 is your homework.
BTW, MissB is not a Man...at least is what her signature says...
the same i try to fastboot :|
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
sending 'recovery' <6092 KB>...
OKAY [ 1.018s ]
writing 'recovery' ...
FAILED <remote: not allowed>
finished. total time: 1.021s
Is your phone in fastboot mode?? Select it from hboot.
EDIT: I'm done here. Good luck.

what can i do to solve this problem???
help me step by step
LOL I did this too.
If your desire loads an OS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1460035
Connect to your PC with debugging
Run nexus blackrose on your PC
run from command prompt with command 'blackrose skip'
you should get menu
select disable hboot protection
- You should get message about be careful and phone restarts to fastboot
Flash alpharevs bravo_alphaspl.img and you should be good to go
You MAY be able to flash bravo_alphaspl.img over the blackrose hboot without running the PC end of blackrose - but I ended up disabling blackrose hboot protection using the nexus PC blackrose frontend
You MAY find its partly trashed your recovery - so you may need to re-install whatever you have for recovery.
I believe to run ruu you need to have full htc sync installed (and probably goldcard) the opposite of everything else.
no os installed!

"Run nexus blackrose on your PC" where is link download blackrose files???
Then i doubt you can do anything about changing your hboot until you have
Just concentrate on getting a working rom installed, i would suggest cm-7.2.0.1-bravo
To do that you may need to get a working recovery I couldn't get fastboot to install pretty much anything in that state.
See my recent posts on this including an older 'working' but faulty 4ext via PB99IMG.zip (dont clear any sd partitions with this - just use it to load a rom then update via 4ext app)
First step try the 'clear storage' (with no sd-card in) option from bootloader
If after that still nothing, and you have no recovery,
try the following which ended up the omly way I could get a working recovery installed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29427407&postcount=17
to get a working recoverr installed but DONT clear the ext partitions using this, just use it to load a rom then update the 4ext version using the 4ext updater apk

I couldn't do anything. So i research in xda and learn some fastboot command. I used this command to go to the recovery:
"fastboot boot recovery.img"
And then i flashed cm-7.2.0.1-bravo. After flashed, i rebooted to system but i faced ruu mode stuck again!!!!
So i type this command:
"fastboot boot boot.img"
Device Loads system and now:
When i try to open blackrose.exe, i face with this error: (Attached screenshot)
"Failed to check device model"
What should i do now????
