Hi, I'm a complete noob and I just used Hasoon2000's kit to root my phone. I accidentally flashed the stock kernel because i thought that was a part of the rooting process. Now my One X is stuck on the logo screen. I'm a complete noob and I would really appreciate help without sarcasm.

Which rom are you using currently, you just need the kernel from that rom which you can flash from fastboot.

We need to know which stock system version you had to get the right kernel ideally or if you have a custom recovery you could go and flash a new rom which will have a kernel to go with it (depending on your hboot version).

I've got 4.1.1
I've also got ClockworkMod. I wanted to install cyanogenmod. Can I do that? Also if the battery is low can it recharge while stuck on the logo screen since only then I can see the red led indicating charging. Oh and I have hboot 1.36.0000
Then go ahead and install the latest CM. Your hboot is compatible !

um, How? I understand you're supposed to place the .zip file on the sd card. My phone is stuck on the htc logo and the storage device doesn't show up on my pc, It's only registered as My HTC in the device manager.

I could be wrong but I think it charges when in custom recovery but not at the bootloader? Also you can mount the internal storage to your pc from custom recovery to copy a zip onto the phone.

Can you give me a link? I've been trying to find one for the past hour. All of them require the sd card.
Oke here we go :
1: what recovery do you have, type and version number ?
2: have you downloaded the cm rom + gapps ?
3: do you know fastboot commands ?

Flash this recovery, your battery does NOT charge in that old recovery
http://db.tt/SPXdFfPw
Then flash the boot.img from the cm10 rom. Its inside the zip
Then you make a full wipe in the recovery and install cm10 and right after that the gapps file (all can be downloaded from the cm10 thread)
Reboot and done
Edit :
All flashing can be done with the toolkit

Right, Thanks. But do I place the downloaded recovery in the recovery folder in the kit files? I did that and i don't see new recovery in the toolkit. But I'm assuming that's not what we're supposed to do anyway...

You can put files into the storage by booting into cwm recovery, selecting mount USB storage, and connecting it to your computer.
For how to flash ROMs, look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069904 second post.
Battery too low ?
Oke put this file inside the fastboot folder on the pc (you have the fastboot.exe file, should be in one of the folders in the toolkit dir)
http://db.tt/aLqeTpPO
Execute this file with the phone in the bootloader ! It will continuing to loop your bootloader and charge it little by little. Let it run for about 30 min and then flash again the recovery. The recovery name must be just "recovery.img" so rename it if needed

So after I've done that, How would I flash the rom, I can't mount sd storage through cwm because it says " uns error, no such file or directory" I formatted the usb earlier, could it have something to do with that? Is there any other way?
Thats because i told you to flash the new recovery first from the link i gave you. That one is able to mount the sdcard so you can copy the rom + gapps to it
SOLVED
So today I decided I would try to install a custom OS/ROM whatever it's called on my HTC One X. I unlocked the bootloader successfully without any problems. Then I went on to root the phone, and this is where it all went wrong. I found a tutorial and followed it to the tiniest detail. I am unable to link to it because I am a new user. When my phone rebooted it went to the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" boot screen. I left it there for 30 minutes and it still didn't move on. What do I do now? I am a super noob at this, and I admit that I am an idiot for not reading more up on it first, it just all seems so super complicated.
Thanks in advance for any help and guidance.

No, no error, it said "Daemon launched successfully" or something along those lines, my phone turned off and turned back on to the HTC boot screen.
Ok, try this: if the phone is still on keep the power button pressed till it restarts and press also vol down button until you arenin the bootloader; if the device is off, enter bootloader keeping power and vol down button pressed... Now my suggestion is to flash a custom recovery and a custom rom, you will get root privileges and the phone will work again...
Sent from Somewhere Over The Rainbow...
If you are unlocked (you see it in bootloader) you can flash a custom recovery and a custom rom. Look up for your favorite Recovery and flash it.
Download the img File to directory where you have the fastboot files and run this code in command prompt
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
After it you can boot into Bootloader and turn to recovery to get access to phone and SD Card/flash Rom
Did you flash boot.img and erased the cache?

Okay, so I successfully flashed TWRP and launched into recovery mode with it. How I get the custom ROM files on my SD card, when I plug my phone into my computer with USB it doesn't show up in the drives section, so I can't open up the SD card.
Another thing is that with the latest version of TWRP for my phone touch doesn't work in the recovery mode. There's a version that does, but it says it doesn't have USB mount or something like that. What's the next step?
You need to mount sd card via recovery, and having the touchscreen working is better as it will be easier to move inside aroma installer... Use philz recovery (if you want a sense rom use 5.15.9, if you want kitkat use the last version), enter the recovery, plug the phone into pc, mount sdcard via recovery, copy the zip over it and follow the instructions to install rom... You can find the instructions in every rom thread op... Ask if you need more help

remember that first boot can take a while (in some cases up to ten minutes)

Title says everything I cant get get to phone storage when I mount USB storage, i installed latest version of CWM 6.0.4.8.
Or try to update the drivers, or flash philz 5.15. Mount the sdcard and wait literally minutes to let it pop up.
I've found this problem too.
I've tried to use CWM 6.0.4.8, TWRP 2.7.1.0 (Unofficial), Philz 6.19.3.
It doesn't have any recovery can mount USB storage. :crying:

My last HTC device was a Desire HD, but I imagine that the newer devices have the same approach. To flash a kernel, you need to use both recovery and a PC, first to flash the boot.img with fastboot from the PC, and then flash the .zip from the recovery.

I use an android phone with twrp custom recovery and when i flashed a rom before i restarted my phone i wipe cache and dalvik cache then i flash the kernel zip separately from the rom and then restart phone. Make a nandroid backup before doing any thing like this and you can backup your stock kernel if you haven't changed it yet. Flashify for root users, app can backup your current kernel and current recovery. I only flash roms and kernels through recovery. I have used that app to flash my recovery but some people have bricked their devices using it. Soft bricked i think

This isn't normally required on the M8, unless its some quirk specific to MIUI (which is a ROM I don't a have much knowledge of).
Make sure your TWRP version is up to date.
Make sure your hboot is up to date.
Wipe user data and cache (default wipe in TWRP) before flashing the ROM.
Those are the most common reasons for no boot after flashing multiple ROMs.
I dont use TWRP. I use Philz Touch recovery.
Where can i download latest TWRP ?

That may be the issue right there. I know some folks are still using it, but Philz hasn't been updated in a long time. And since some newer ROMs have issues with older TWRP builds, I would assume the same would be true with Philz.
You can get TWRP here: https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
