Sunshine app. Google it..
The sunshine at will unlock the boot loader on the desire 612.
It's my understanding that "s-off" is a different story.

Can anyone confirm that the Sunshine app works for the sim unlock mentioned by the OP?
Their website only talks about S-Off and bootloader unlock.
Also, how can you contact the dev? Is he active on xda?
Did anyone find a way to Sim unlock this phone?
Please post it!!
The SunShine app unlocks the bootloader and also unlock the GSM capability of the phone. I used the app on my Sprint HTC One M8 and it unlocked the bootloader and the SIM card as well.

I just confirmed from the developers of SunShine via TheRootNinja Support and the response was that "I don't believe we can simunlock that device." Also, the developers of the app here says "No sorry we do not sim unlock that phone".

Hello
First off, I'm sorry if this question has already been asked, or is in the wrong section, but i couldn't figure it out yet.
I'm not able to use my Orange UK based HTC One X with my European provider. It is rooted and unlocked, I've put custom firmware on it (CM10) but my CID is still ORANG001.
Could this be the cause? And am I able to change this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Jens
You can't change cid or remove carrier lock without s-off.

Assuming that there is no way to get s-off, I'm never going to be able to use my phone?
You could try this: http://www.cellunlocker.net/unlock-htc-one-x.php
You might also get the unlock code if you ask orange kindly enough.

Unless your device is S-OFF, you won't be able to remove the tampered flag.

Linking you all to the thread in the main HTC One M9 section. The script seemed to work fine for mine.

T-Mobile can unlock using HTC dev and then run sunshine. Vzw is still waiting for sunshine to update it. Other option for the vzw m9 is send it to someone with a javacard.
I second the above. Mailed mine to somebody with a java card. Fortunately I had the Nexus 6 to hold me over while that was being done. If needed, I am sure you can find somebody in the java card thread.
I am sure this was clarified somewhere, but I read this thread and the one linked;
I have a Verizon M9 with S-Off from a Java card, locked bootloader and no root.
Assuming I root and then do this method, will my data be wiped?

Hah. I decided I'd do it anyway before I saw your reply.
It was a coworker, and I had only asked for S-Off, rather than the whole deal.

Gotta have a java card to s-off, and I assume you gotta be s-off before you can unlock the bootloader and root. Check out the Java Card thread to find somebody with a java card and send your phone to them, or if they're close enough, meet up with them. Stand up guys, all of them are. Many many multiple success stories from people sending their devices and having it back within the week all ready to flash.. for just the cost of shipping and a donation..
You must be S-OFF to unlock your bootloader.

Very well could be, but not a definite. If you tell people that I would make that clear. Sunshine took a year for the M9 without using HTCdev or a Javacard. The same method might work on the HTC 10, things have changed it might but no one knows for sure yet. On top of that sunshine is s-0ff not just root and unlocked bootloader. All 3 things are different. All I can say is do your research.
I know that the bootloader does not come unlocked for any of the US variants of the HTC 10. However, does this mean that the bootloader cannot be unlocked for these variants through HTCDev after buying it either? I googled to figure out an answer to this question but I kept getting articles that advertised how HTC will support unlocking of the bootloader of the international version with no mention of the Sprint version.
I am looking to buy a Sprint HTC 10 but will only do so if I can get the bootloader unlocked. If not, I'd rather get a GS7 if I am going to have to get a phone with a locked bootloader.
Yes, the bootloader can be unlocked.

Can it be done through the HTCDev method or do you have to do it in an unofficial way? Thank you!

It can be done with HTC Dev, yes. I believe Sunshine will also unlock the bootloader, as well.
