[Guide][Solution] How To Downgrade Windows 8.1 to 8.0 - Windows RT General

First of all, I not responsable for lost of keys and Data!
Stuff necessary:
2 Pen drive ( one for backup windows 8.1, and the other for windows 8.0)
Surface RT (LOL)
Use your surface to create a recovery USB stick with Windows 8.1
Download Windows RT 8.0 recovery image from Microsoft
Copy the file "install.wim" (located under "sources" from your downloaded 8.0 recovery image to your 8.1 recovery USB stick
Boot your surface with the 8.1 recovery USB
Start a cmd session (after choosing "Troubleshoot" -> "Advanced options" ...)
Use diskpart to delete both recovery partitions and the system partition
Create a new partition and format it with NTFS
Make it active and assign this partition a drive letter (for example G
Close diskpart
Use dism to install the Windows 8.0 image to your drive (if you saved the "install.wim" from the Windows RT 8.0 image to your USB sticks root dir, use this command: dism /apply-image /imagefile:\install.wim /index:1 /applydir:G:\
I Will update more step and most important
UPDATE
After follow all step your Surface will be bricked.
Use USB sick with WIN8.0 recovery to restore all partition, and DONE you have WIN8.0

your method is very very complicated mate.. it's actually MUCH easier than that:
1- get a 8gb usb
2- format it as fat32
3- extract the surface RT 8.0 zip into the flash. (get it from the piratebay link)
4- stick the flash disk in the surface.
5- go to: charms bar -> settings -> change pc settings -> last option -> advanced startup
6- select the USB then follow the rest of the steps here: https://thepiratebay.mn/torrent/9196163/Surface_RT_Downgrade_Image_8.0_Direct_from_Microsoft
Attach the USB recovery drive to Surface.
Hold the volume-down (-) rocker.
Press and release the power button.
When the Surface logo appears, release the volume rocker.
Choose your language options.
Choose your keyboard layout.
From the BitLocker screen, tap or click Skip This Drive.
The keyboard might appear so tap the non-text area of the screen to dismiss it so you can see the Skip This Drive link.
Tap or click Troubleshoot.
Tap or click Reset your PC.
Tap or click Next.
This is actually a button that says “Windows 8.1 Preview”. This kinda threw me. Select this button, it will give you Windows 8.0. You will have to wait a bit for the next screen to appear.
Surface Pro only: Tap or click No, keep the existing partitions.
I saw this on my Surface RT. I selected “No” like this says.
Tap or click Just remove my files.
When Surface displays All ready to go, tap or click Reset."
Click to collapse
you'll get windows 8.0 very easily.

[X51V] The great upgrade guide

Here is a guide on upgrading an Axim X51v to WM 6.1, or WM 6.5.
This was originally posted on Mobilism.
NEEDED: Axim X51v (duh), PC (I don't have a mac and I am clueless about them) spare SD card (Min. 128 MB), SD card reader, charger (connected to cradle or via port, doesn't matter), and PATIENCE.
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if you brick your Axim. Use caution.
1. Get a ROM. Links are attached to this post (because the forum will not let me put links in my post >.<)
2. Extract the ROM to the Desktop. You will need to install WinRar, which I've posted a link to. Drag the 2 files in the box that show up after clicking on the RAR file.
3. Now, put the SD card into the reader and plug it in.
4. Go to My Computer, (Computer in Vista and 7), find Removable Disk (or whatever you named it) right click it and click Format.
5. When you get a box that is labeled: "Format Removable Disk" (or whatever you named it), under "File system", select "FAT32".
6. Click 'Start" (on the box), then click "OK" again.
7. Wait.
8. When you get the box that says "Format Complete", Click "OK".
9. Go to My Computer, (Computer in Vista and 7), find Removable Disk (or whatever you named it) and open it.
10. Find the .nb0 and nb0_.crc files on your Desktop (that you extracted earlier) and drag them to the SD card.
11. Eject the drive. (Right click on the drive in Computer and click Eject)
12. Place the SD card into the Axim and do a Hard Reset. (Hard Reset by holding the Power button. While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to push the reset hole and then release BOTH. Then, press the Contacts button.)
13. Go into the SD Bootloader by holding down the Power button and the Wireless button. While doing that, use the stylus to push the reset hole. After pushing the reset hole, keep the Power and Wireless buttons pressed.
14. You should get a blue bar at the top of your screen that says "SD Image Update A10_G*" (* for any number.) If you do, go on to the next step, if not, go back to step 13.
15. When the black bar with white letters show up, press the button in the center of the D-Pad twice.
16. Wait.
17. When it says "Update Complete, please do hard reset", do a hard reset. (Hard Reset by holding the Power button. While holding down the Power button, use the stylus to push the reset hole and then release BOTH. Then, press the Contacts button.)
18. Enjoy WM 6.1 goodness!!!
Oh yes, and if for some reason you don't like WM 6.1, I've made an A12 ROM (Original Dell).
This looks very similar to my X50 unbricking guides sticky over at Aximsite. I would like to inform you that this is not new information.
Anyway, you forgot to mention the part about checking the crc address in the nb0 file before you transfer the files to the SD card. For that, you just download the crc calculator and run it with the nb0, and then check to see if what the crc calculator spits out is the same as what's in the crc file. If not, than copy the value from the crc calculator to the crc file and save the crc file.
I would also like to mention that this process can be done on MAC OS X, but you have to mess with a partitioner to do it.

[GUIDE] win 8 bootable from usb disk

hello everyone,
I'm not used to post here but I thought i could share what i've done.
(excuse my english, i'm french)
i tried to install the win 8 dev preview on my packardbell OneTwo M3770, that is to say, a pc with a touch screen. I tried the virtualbox method, both with 32B and 64B editions but it didn't work. i just obtained a black screen displaying en error code and asking to reboot.
so i managed to plug a USB disk to install it.
I found a method to use an usb stick (i installed myself on an usb HD 140Go)
just type "developper preview boot vhd" in Google and take the first link.
there is descritpions with command lines using diskpart
it's in french but easy to understand i think
you just have to mind the drive letters in the different command line and it's all done. (my H: drive in win7 became an E: in win 8)
now i can use the metro interface with a 23" touchscreen and it's awesome.
some bugs in the metro IE10 (especially with xda dev! )
need time to get used to commands, it took me a few minutes to uderstand how it works.
Using a win phone 7 too i found my way.
Now i can say that the touchscreen is usefull, that was not the case with win7, too many "finger inviting" program existing.
i hope this can be usefull for someone.

You guys might not know that Microsoft USB DVD Tool from MS can also get the ISO of Windows 8 to USB easily.
fuyooo... wanna try this...
thank
Easy way to install windows 8 to a usb device :
You need imagex from waik for this to work.
Extract the windows 8 developer preview iso to c:\win8
Plug a usb device in, either a mem stick of 16 gig or higher, or a usb hd.
Lets assume usb drive is h:\
Open cmd as administrator.
If you installed waik, you have imagex.
Use following cmd :-
Imagex /apply c:\win8\sources\install.wim 1 h:
Wait for the image to apply.
When done, install the boot files.
Bcdboot h:\windows /s h:
Once completed, select your boot device at bios boot menu, and watch windows 8 continue installation.
Once installed, it should also boot on other pcs too.
If imagex didnt work, be sure to be in folder where imagex file is located when u run the command.
Hope this helps some people. Sorry, its a pretty concise post, as im on my galaxy cheers.

Agreed!!!!!!
I use a 8gig sdcard and it works a charm on my asus n i can now dual boot only thing is can't load any of the apps
EDIT: Blue poison 2.2 takes care of everything. Loving it Looks like will be booting into 8 instead of 7 for the time being n c how it goes for daily tasks.
Method without the need of an extra tool:
run cmd as admin
type "list disk" - lookup the number of your stick
type "select disk [nr]" - replace [nr]
type "clean"
type "create partition primary"
type "active"
type "format fs=fat32 quick"
type "assign"
type "exit"
Now mount image and simply copy all files from image to the stick.. You could also use WinRAR to extract the image to the stick..
Oh I just noticed that you also need third party tools like Daemon Tools or WinRAR but imho everyone has to have them installed already You can also use this method when you have a physical medium..
after this I will be able to boot windows 8 from usb stick right leaving host os of my laptop untouched?
thanks
when i get my slate 7, i think i might try to make it boot windows 8 from microSD card.

ANDROID ON INTEL ARCHITECTURE
AboutProject summary
Android on Intel® Architecture (Android-IA) is an open source project based on the*Android Open Source Project*(AOSP). Intel is a contributor to the AOSP and provides code for enabling Android on Intel Architecture platforms. (read more: About A-IA )
this is a thread for installing, exploring, discussing dual boot Win 8-8.1 and Android for XE700T1C, and I have XE700T1C-A01AE which is one of many variants of XE700T1C, in the official site of A-IA only XE700T ( for installation see These instructions )is supported which is a whole different model, the XE700T1C comes with a keyboard dock that transfer it to laptop style, so the installation will be much easier because we don't need USB hub and USB keuboard.
I tried this on my own risk on both Windows 8 and 8.1 preview. so by doing so you accept any risk from this procedure ... be patient and read carefully before you start
Update: XE700T1C-A01US confirmed working ... Thanks to p0k3y...
Update: Also See another great guide by @Adrian DC

Before you Start ...
It is highly recommended that you download and install the latest BIOS firmware from Samsung while you still have windows on the device. The installer requires windows to run, and recent versions provide significant improvements.
Full Back up your PC using the Samsung recovery ( if it is pre installed ) or any back up program. And you should create recovery USB drive
HOW TO MAKE RECOVERY USB DRIVE: ------>>> Microsoft Windows 8 Support
What you need ...
1- USB thumb drive 1 Gb at least.
2- Download the latest build for Samsung XE700T installer from A-IA site ( https://01.org/android-ia/downloads )
3- Download "Image Writer for Windows" from https://launchpad.net/win32-image-writer/
4- A space on your PC for Android (more details in the installation)
Preparing the USB thumb drive
1- Back up the content in the USB drive because it will be erased ...
2- Extract Samsung XE700T installer
3- Extract windows image writer tool and run Win32DiskImager.exe
4- Browse for the image you extracted from the Samsung XE700T installer
5- Select your USB drive letter and hit "Write"
6- Done
Installing .....
1- Restart your PC with the USB drive inserted and as soon as it start press "F2" or you can follow the other way which is:
A- swipe from right and enter settings from the charm bar and choose "change PC settings
B- go to general and scroll down to advance start up and press restart now
C- after restart choose "Troubleshoot"
D- then "Advance options"
E- then "UEFI firmware"
F- then "Settings"
2- After going into settings ... go to " Boot " and set " Secure boot to OFF "
3- Then from the first option select Boot device priority and put your USB in the first place.
4- Choose "Save"
5- After restart the installer begin you will get five options. select run interactive installer
6- It will ask you " do you want to reserve windows and dual boot " Type: Y
7- Then " Do you want to resize windows to make more space " Type: Y
8- You will be asked " Enter the size in Mib for Windows " and the installer calculate the minimum and maximum size and it recommends the maximum size ... if you choose that value you will get about 350 MiB internal memory for android and it is too small if you want to install large apps. so the trick is to subtract the amount you need from the maximum value for ex: if you have 116000 Mib maximum then if you type 110000 you will have a 6000 MiB for the internal memory for Android.
9- After that you will be asked " Install GummiBoot bootloader " Type: Y
10- Then set the boot menu timeout ...
11- After the installation is completed remove your USB drive and press any key to restart.
12- Done.
Note:
1- When the PC start you got options, use down key or volume down to navigate. up key or volume up key to select.
2- After the first boot of windows you may be asked to do disc check...
Things you may need in Android:
Google services framework and Google Play store. Download and extract (Zip in the attachment)
And this how to install it
After connecting to Wi-Fi, open the browser and download a file manager with root capability for ex: search for ES File manager, download, install, open the file manager and then root explorer then Mount R/W and set all the options to RW.
copy Google services and play store to: system/app ... then change their permission to rw- r-- r--
image
Exit the file manager and pull the quick setting toggles area from the upper right corner and select power off " this is how to turn off Android "
Turn on the PC again and enter android and open play store and enter your user name and password .... because adding account from setting will not work and force close it...
In play store there are many apps that set to be not compatible but it may work and if I remember for example angry birds space free is working fine after I transfer and install it. so you can try...
Another thing you must try ... Is the Xposed framework by @rovo89 thanks to him for x86 support...
Link to original post ...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401
Xposed installer 2.3.1 in the attachments... And scrennshots in the second post ...
Known Bugs:
1- Auto brightness is working by default even if disabled
2- If you want to use the on screen keyboard you have to disable the hardware keyboard after each reboot.(shortcut found in the notification area)
3- Battery left percentage is ok at start up ... but then it is not updating ...
4- Tell me to add if i forget something
Useful info
keyboard shortcuts:
ESC = Back
Windows home = Android Home
Alt+Tab =switch between opened background applications
Ctrl+P = settings
Ctrl+M = settings/all applications
Ctrl+N = Nova launcher settings (if installed)
Ctrl+S = play store (in Nova launcher if installed)
Ctrl+W = select wallpaper for home screen
Ctrl+Alt+Delete = kill android and restart ( don't do it because you may lose data )
Fn + (F6 or F7 or F8) = mute, volume down , volume up ---- respectively
Fn+ F4 =home ( so pressing windows home button is easier )
In home screen , typing any letter will trigger search
i will add more if i find or remember
Screenshots
With Xposed framework installed...
Added benchmark screenshots... In the attachments
Will add videos as soon as I can...

How many times does it have to be said, it wont work.
AndroidIA is custom tailored for intel core series processors not atom. Clovertrail as in the xe500t is also hardware locked to windows 8 (no idea why).

Sharing files
I just wanted to know if android is installed will it be able to access files such as documents pdf pics etc from windows 8
if not how can we make this work
That would require NTFS drivers installed in Android; I know how to do it in "normal" Linux but have never attempted with Android.
I use the micro SD card slot as a shared storage... So everything there can be accessed from both operating systems...

How can i uninstall this and return back to just windows
This looks very cool and I want to try it on my XE700T. But don't want to screw it up and brick the thing. Has anyone else tried it successfully? Also, will this affect the ability to apply Samsung updates or Windows upgrades later?

Its a regular x86 machine, you can't just brick them. You can seriously bugger up windows, but get a fresh windows install USB (can buy them I think, or you can make one from an install DVD) and you can reinstall windows from scratch, but it will cost you. Or you could be logical and make a recovery USB for your system first which would then allow you to restore anyway, if you own a windows 8 system you should make a recovery USB anyway.
Having android wont effect your windows partition at all. Presuming you dont just go over-writing your windows partition, which would be a dumb idea, and is also why you dont try this guide unless you know what your doing.

Thanks. I just made a recovery USB. Am going to try out the recovery feature and make sure I know what to do before taking the plunge. So I take it you got this installed? Do you like it? Other than the bugs listed on OP, are there any other issues? Does it perform well? I hope so with the all-powerful Core i5...

@p0k3y ... if you have XE700T ... not the XE700T1C then follow these instructions from A-IA site:
Android on Intel ArchitectureSamsung XE700T
The Samsung XE700T Slate is a PC-compatible SandyBridge platform with touch-screen, USB host port, world facing camera, and Wi-Fi. The device also includes orientation and acceleration sensors, but they are non-functional in Android-IA due to the fact that they communicate using a proprietary protocol.
BIOS Update
It is highly recommended that you download and install the latest BIOS firmware from Samsung while you still have windows on the device. The installer requires windows to run, and recent versions provide significant improvements.
Setting the device to boot from USB thumb drive:
1.Grab an USB keyboard and plug it into a device USB port
2.Power on the device
3.After the power led is on, press the Home button and keep it pressed until the BIOS screen appears
4.Go to Boot menu using right/left arrow keys
5.Select Boot Device Priority using the Enter key
6.Go to USB KEY and press F6 until it becomes the top-most list item
7.Exit the Boot menu using the ESC key
8.Go to the Exit menu and select Save Changes and Reset using Enter
9.Power off the device and then power it on again
10.After the power led is on, press the Home button and keep it pressed until the BIOS screen appears (we need to enter the BIOS again to check the Legacy USB Support, sometimes it is disabled, after the first change in the BIOS)
11.Go to the Advanced menu using the right/left arrows
12.If the UEFI Boot Support is Disabled, change it to Enabled
13.Exit BIOS with Save Changes and Reset, as described above
14.Power off the device
15.Unplug the USB keyboard
Samsung XE700T Machine Check Error
Several users ran into a situation (when experimenting with a different kernel) that the machine would just get a "Machine Check Error" when trying to boot, either with or without the USB stick. This occurred after booting from the USB stick both with and without install-to-disk. Recovery procedure:
1.Power-on the machine while holding down the upper volume button on the left-hand side. This goes into the the Windows Boot Manager as in the "Gotcha" section above.
2.Let it go ahead and attempt to boot. This fails, however the failure mode is different because it is now trying to boot off of hard-disk, and gets a "Boot error" in the upper-left corner of the screen, instead of "machine check error".
3.Reset the system and power-on while holding the "windows" button at middle-bottom. This enters BIOS setup screen.
4.Re-enable "legacy USB", if needed.
5.Change boot-order to boot from the USB-stick first, hard-disk second.
6.Reboot from the USB stick.
7.Re-install a working OS to hard-disk.
Samsung XE700T touchscreen anomalies
Occasional users find that the touchscreen is not working with a Samsung device. This can be caused by some unknown compatibility issues with some USB hubs. If you run into this, a workaround is to unplug all USB device including the hub and just plug in the keyboard directly. Similar issues have been seen with oddball USB network adapters.
Samsung XE700T Restore Procedure
As mentioned in the Quick Start, it is important to back up any user data on the device before erasing it and over-writing it with Android. In addition, it is important to retain the original OS installation media, in case you want to restore the originally installed OS. These are referenced in the following restoration procedure.
To restore the Samsung XE700T to its factory default state you will need the following items:
•USB hub with at least three ports available
•USB keyboard
•USB mouse
•Samsung System Recovery Media (shipped with your slate PC)
•Samsung System Software Media (shipped with your slate PC)
•If restoring directly from a DVD ◦USB DVD-ROM Optical Drive (if restoring directly from DVD)
•If restoring from USB thumb drive ◦DVD-ROM Optical Drive on a separate PC (instructions provided for Windows and Ubuntu)
◦USB thumb drive -- 8GB or larger
System Recovery Media Prep -- USB thumb drive (Ubuntu Linux)
1.Install gettext (sudo apt-get install gettext).
2.Install gparted (sudo apt-get install gparted), it's a GUI tool that we'll use to format the thumb drive.
3.Download the latest stable version of ms-sys from http://ms-sys.sourceforge.net/#Download
4.Unpack the ms-sys***.tar.gz, cd to it in the terminal, then execute the following commands:
5.make
6.sudo make install
7.Launch gparted, select your thumb drive in the upper right corner.
8.Delete all partitions on the thumb drive, if any are present.
9.Go to Device -> Create Partition Table , in the dialog that appears click "Advanced" and select ms-dos partition table.
10.Go to Partition -> New and select NTFS, select all available drive space.
11.After the formatting is over, go to Partition -> Manage flags and check the "boot" flag.
12.Copy all files and folders from the Samsung recovery DVD to the thumb drive.
13.Open your terminal and create Win 7 MBR by executing the following command(replace /dev/sdX with your thumb drive's path):
14.ms-sys -7 /dev/sdX
System Recovery Media Prep -- USB thumb drive (Windows)
Note: These steps are not necessary if you plan to use a USB optical drive and the System Recovery Media DVD for the restore.
1.If necessary, download and install a program that will rip DVD discs to an ISO file. We use LC ISOCreator, which can be found at http://lc-iso-creator.en.softonic.com/.
2.If necessary, download and install a program that will burn ISO images to the thumb drive. We use the tool at http://www.isotousb.com/.
3.Format your thumb drive with a FAT32 file system.
4.Rip the Samsung Recovery Media DVD into an ISO file with ISOCreator.
5.Burn the Samsung Recovery Media ISO onto the thumb drive with isotousb.
Restore Steps
1.Power down the XE700T.
2.Connect the USB hub to the USB port on the XE700T.
3.Connect the keyboard, mouse, and recovery media (using either an optical drive or a USB thumb drive) to the USB hub.
4.Insert the System Recovery Media DVD into the optical drive if using the optical drive.
5.Hold down the center button (Windows key) and power on the device. Continue holding the Windows button until the BIOS setup screen appears.
6.Hold down the rotate button (right edge of tablet below the power button) until the Advanced section of the BIOS UI is highlighted.
7.Select 'Legacy USB Support' and make sure it is set to 'Enabled.'
8.Hold down the rotate button and use the volume up or volume down buttons until the Boot section of the BIOS UI is highlighted.
9.Select 'Boot Device Priority', making changes so that the recovery media (DVD drive or thumb drive) is the primary boot device.
10.Make sure that the UEFI Boot option in the BIOS is also set to 'Enabled.'
11.Press the Windows key once, and then hold down the rotate button and use the volume up or volume down buttons, until the Exit section of the BIOS UI is highlighted and then select 'Save Changes and Reset.' The XE700T should now boot off of the recovery media and the Windows installer should start.
12.Select your language and go through the setup process, until it asks you for the type of install. Select 'Custom' and then delete all existing partitions.
13.Select the available disk space after deleting all of the partitions as the install location for Windows.
14.At this point, the Windows installation should proceed.

Take care, when powering-up the unit, that you don't accidentally press the Volume-Up button (for example, if grip the tablet with your left hand) at the same time as you press the Power button, or the unit will go into "Samsung Recovery Mode" (that is, to the Windows Boot Manager, which is looking for the Windows installation disc). After that, the unit will never boot Android, instead displaying the words "Boot error" in the upper-left corner of the screen. (You will need to install Android again.)
This problem will probably not be observed in images downloaded and built since 5/24/2012, when a patch fixing this issue was integrated.

as I mentioned in the OP the XE700T is officially supported ... link to the site https://01.org/android-ia/documentation/samsung-xe700t
@bdroid ... use a recovery USB to roll back to windows only...
if you accidently lost recovery ... here is the link for XE700T1C-A01US reocovery image zip ... just unzip it to USB then boot using it and follow the onscreen instructions...
BTW this Recovery zip is not mine ... but I tried it and it is 100% working ...

Thanks. I just made a recovery USB. Am going to try out the recovery feature and make sure I know what to do before taking the plunge. So I take it you got this installed? Do you like it? Other than the bugs listed on OP, are there any other issues? Does it perform well? I hope so with the all-powerful Core i5...

I dont own a windows tablet no.
From what I have heard though, core i5 systems benchmark damn well for android but have 2 notable issues.
Firstly they don't use full hardware acceleration, I dont know if thats a thing being worked on or what, but for now the sheer CPU power just hammers its way through that.
Secondly its an x86 processor. Android apps use what is called a virtual machine (its called dalvik, alot of people claim its java, but its not) which allows them to run on any hardware. However some apps use what is known as the android NDK, or native code running outside of the virtual machine. Reasons for this are code re-use (android ports of some iOS apps take this approach) or performance. The android NDK is platform specific, with the default settings if you create an app using the NDK, it will throw the little dalvik bit in needed to start the app and then it will compile the native parts for ARMv7 (most android devices). Changing the settings allows for x86, ARMv6 and MIPS but not everyone changes that, especially as it leads to its own problems in either distributing separate x86 and ARMv7 apps (possible) or it will let you throw both x86 and ARM versions in one app but this leads to an app double the size it needs to be. So nice and simple, many developers ignore it entirely and leave it at ARM only.
So you may come across certain apps which don't function on your device. The x86 devices sold to consumers such as the galaxy tab 3, do include an ARM emulator to help avoid some of the above issues, sadly android-ia and androidx86 dont do that.
Have fun. And yeah, test that you can get into your recovery first, always a good idea.

Thanks. Unfortunately, what I gather from what I'm reading is that that image does not contain drivers. You need to manually add the drivers to the image before you install. If you don't, you'll brick your tablet, according to WZT. People may want wait a little bit until there are clear directions and a few people who can verify that they worked (i.e. that they installed 8.1 without any problems).
Additional note: It sounds like the driver package is only for the Surface RT, so users with other Windows RT tablets (ex. ASUS VivoTab RT) may brick their tablets if they try to use it. They'll have to wait until someone releases a driver package for their model (which WZT says might have to be taken from the Preview build).

Even more unfortunately, while WZT has teased info about the driver package, they haven't actually leaked it yet.

It is very difficult to brick an RT device. You can always recover it if you can boot to USB, and you have a recovery image and familiar with windows command line tools (diskpart, dism and so on).
Unfortunatley I'm on a business trip and can't create an upgrade instruction for VivoTab users. But there is nothing difficult - as we already have all needed drivers on a recovery partition, and all you need - just insert them into WIM using the Wzor's instructions from his original post on ru-board.
Installed this tonight. Note that drivers are NOT included in the iso from Wzor.
Extract boot.wim and install.wim from Wzor's iso, inject Wzor's RTM drivers via dism, commit, put boot.wim and install.wim with drivers back into iso, image to USB drive. I installed from within RT using setup (keeping nothing).
You have to use the default key on installation. You need to find out your actual RT key before you do this otherwise you end up with a non-activated RT 8.1 and no key. Export DigitalProductId and DigitalProductId4 from HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion and obtain your key. Instructions on how to here.
Works great. In the short amount of time I've been testing everything works perfectly OK, including all my accessories. (discussion here).

I figured as much, but not everyone may have the recovery image or the knowledge, and, for them, a dead device that they're unable to recover is as good as a brick. Regardless, I just wanted to pass along the same language that WZT used so that I'm not guilty of misrepresenting the risks or responsible if someone can't fix what he got himself into.

Thanks for your instructions and verifying that it works. The original instructions don't mention writing down your current key first. While I likely would've done that anyways, it's re-assuring to see it in writing, just in case. I might give this a go tomorrow.
FYI, there's now an ISO with the Surface RT drivers baked in, so that users don't have to use DISM to add them manually. The release name is:
DRIVERS FOR SURFACE RT ONLY___MICROSOFT WINDOWS RT 8 1 WITH OFFICE 2013 RT RTM WOA ENGLISH DVD-WZT
Note that it's only for the Surface RT, not other RT tablets.
Also note that you need the installation key, and, also, before installation, you need to export and decrypt your retail 8.0 key. Information on that is available here

[EDIT: Never mind. I misunderstood.]
I don't follow. There's nothing to "jailbreak" and it can't get much easier than it is now (outside of simply waiting until Microsoft rolls out 8.1 via Automatic Updates). You just follow instructions to find out your 8.0 key, install the 8.1+drivers ISO (not the one in the OP; the one that I listed a few posts up) with a general installation key, then activate 8.1 with your 8.0 key.

I think he is referring to the lack of jailbreak on 8.1 for unsigned desktop apps - a feature which should have been in the OS from the start, instead microsoft wasted time patching the exploit the jailbreak used and destroyed the usefulness of the tablet for some.
He was probably intending to say something along the lines of him not updating to 8.1 until after someone makes a new jailbreak for it.
If you can live without the jailbreak, thats fine. Windows store is a bit too limited in my opinion, but it will grow (still gutted they blocked access to both localhost for network connections and COM ports in windows apps though).

Ah! Gotcha. It slipped my mind that the jailbreak for unsigned apps not working in 8.1 is a valid reason for not upgrading, so I was thinking that he was waiting for something to make the upgrade, itself, even easier. Thanks for the clarification.

Sure. There are a few different ways to do it. In order of simplest to most complicated...
METHOD 1 - Can be done solely from Windows RT (any version):
1. Follow these instructions to create a batch file.
2. Run the batch file on the tablet to get your key.
3. Either write the key down or right-click anywhere in the window, select Mark, highlight the key, right-click again (which will copy the key to the clipboard), paste the key into a text file and then copy that text file to another computer or backup drive.
4. Optional, but recommended: Check that the key is valid by inputting it into a key checker, such as The Ultimate PID Checker. If it tells you that the key is invalid, then try one of the other two methods.
METHOD 2 - Requires regular, non-RT Windows (XP/Vista/7/8):
1. In RT, open the charms bar, click Search, enter "Regedit" and run Regedit.
2. Export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion to a .reg file.
3. Copy that .reg file to your non-RT Windows.
4. On your non-RT Windows (all remaining steps will be done there), right-click the .reg file and choose Edit. Change "CurrentVersion" to "CurrentVersionRT". Re-save the file.
5. Double-click on the .reg file and import it.
6. Download and install WinTK.
7. Run WinTK, paste "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersionRT" (without quotes) into the field and press the Decrypt button.
*If, for some reason, WinTK won't run, you can try this: download and unzip Produkey, run Regedit, export your CurrentVersion key to a backup .reg file, change the key name in your RT .reg file from "CurrentVersionRT" back to "CurrentVersion", remove all values in your RT .reg file except for DigitalProductId and DigitalProductId4 (make sure that they're NOT the ones under the DefaultProductKey sub-branch), import that (thus overwriting your Windows key with your Windows RT key), run Produkey, write down the Product Key, then import the backup .reg file to restore your Windows key (important, obviously).
8. Write down the product key.
9. Optional, but recommended: Check that the key is valid by inputting it into a key checker, such as The Ultimate PID Checker. If it tells you that the key is invalid, then try one of the other two methods.
10. Optional: Open Regedit again and delete the CurrentVersionRT key, just to clean up.
METHOD 3 - Can be done solely from Windows RT, but only on 8.0 (won't work on 8.1 Preview or 8.1 RTM) and is more complicated than Method 1:
1. Download and unzip the RT jailbreak tool.
2. Run RunExploit.bat. Choose 'R' from the menu. Let it finish, then press any key when it asks you to.
3. Download and install Win86emu.
4. Download and unzip Produkey.
5. Open the charms bar, click Search, enter "Regedit" and run Regedit.
6. Export HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion to a .reg file.
7. Find the Win86emu tile (icon is "x86") on your Start screen, flick down on it to bring up the options bar and tap Open File Location... or, at the Desktop, you can browse to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\win86emu.
8. Double-tap the "x86 Registry Editor" shortcut.
9. In that registry editor, import the .reg file that you exported in step 4. This will import the settings into the special x86 registry that the emulator created when you installed it and which all x86 programs (including Produkey) will think is the real registry.
10. Double-tap the "Run x86 Program" shortcut.
11. Browse to and select the produkey.exe that you unzipped in step 2.
12. Find the Product Key listed for Windows in the window that appears and write it down. If nothing appears, click on Select Source and verify that it's searching the local computer (top-most radio button).
13. Optional, but recommended: Check that the key is valid by inputting it into a key checker, such as The Ultimate PID Checker. If it tells you that the key is invalid, then try one of the other two methods.
If one method doesn't seem to work for you, try one of the others.

[Tutorial] Install Windows 10 for ARM32 on your Lenovo Yoga 11

So my Yoga 11 has been laying around for some years now and usage has been getting worse mostly because of the included, no longer supported, Internet Explorer.
But when I found that a working release of Windows 10 ARM32 for the Surface RT was around, I decided to go rogue and install it on my Yoga 11.
I adapted the tutorial by @kephax and @Zaveraj to the needs of the Yoga and added own experiences https://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-8-rt/rt-general/tutorial-install-windows-10-arm32-t4052035 https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82022643&postcount=41
Feedback and suggestions are always welcome
**WORKING** Windows 10 arm32 on Lenovo Yoga 11
As usual, disclaimer: For dead devices, the author is not responsible. Perform all actions at your own peril and risk. At the moment, the topic with flashing is young and everything is done manually. Perhaps later the process will be partially or fully automated. In the meantime ...
Let's go !!!

Documents and instructions
1. Firmware is a potentially dangerous process and requires some accuracy. Always have a recovery disc on hand created from the official kit from Microsoft!
2. In order to facilitate the installation process, in addition to the USB flash drive, you will need a USB keyboard and an USB bluetooth/wifi adapter.
3. Windows 10 on ARM is basically functional. The drivers for Surface 1 work fine, the Bluetooth driver for Surface 2 has some problems. The store mainly supports the installation of ARM applications. Office 2013 is fully operational and even has a Russian language pack.
4. The image is not meant for the Yoga 11, therefore Keyboard, Sound, Wifi, Bluetooth, camera, Touchscreen? are not working in the installation process. After a 'magic' windows update in the end, they do work.

Create recovery drive using the existing Windows RT 8.1 installation:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17422/windows-8-create-usb-recovery-drive
1. Clear an USB drive (8gb+ advised)
2. Open 'Create a recovery drive' on the Windows RT installation
3. Follow the instructions on the screen
Restore the laptop to version 8.1 according to this instruction :
1. Ensure that the Yoga is completely turned off and connected to the charger. Connect the recovery disk to the USB port.
2. Press and hold the volume up and windows button on the screen. Press and release the power button.
3. Hold volume up and windows button until a black screen with a console like appearance appears, then you may release
4. When prompted, select English and a keyboard layout.
5. Select "Troubleshooting", then select "Recover from a Drive", in my case the last USB device was the correct one, It may take some tries which one you need. If you are prompted for a Bitlocker recovery key, select "Skip this drive" at the bottom of the screen. Next, select “Just remove my files” and the last “Reinstall”. The laptop will go into reboot and recovery of clean 8.1 will begin.
Hacking SecureBoot
1. Turn off UAC. Run the registry file - Disabling_UAC.reg and, after merging, restart the laptop.
2. Unmount the registry hive responsible for the BCD. Using a combination of win + R buttons, open the Run window and enter regedit to open the registry editor. Select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ BCD00000000, and click "File" - "Unload Hive" ("File" - "Uninstall Hive")
3. Run the SecureBootPatch patch
Open the "securebootpatch" directory. Run as administrator (right click) InstallPolicy.cmd, and then restart the laptop.
After the reboot, the secure boot debug policy interface will appear. Select "accept and install" to install the policy.
4. Turning on the test mode.
Run the command line and enter:
bcdedit /set {default} testsigning on && bcdedit /set {bootmgr} testsigning on
If there are no errors, restart the laptop and enter the recovery mode command line. Check the lower right corner of the screen for the words "secureboot is not configured correctly". If the inscription is present - continue (At the start of the WinPE GUI boot, it will blink and disappear under the background, will appear again at the command prompt).
-- I have to admit that I didn't check the secureboot, but it went well
Deploying win10
1. From the last step, we are in WinPE recovery mode:
Go to the command line: Select "Troubleshooting", then "Advanced Options" - "Command Prompt". A request for a bitlocker recovery key should not appear.
2. Format drive C. Make sure that the commands are entered correctly and enter the next only if there are no errors in the previous one.
Enter
(a) diskpart
(b) list disk
(c) select disk 0
(d) list partition
(e) select partition 4
(f) format quick fs = ntfs override
(f) exit
3. Actually deploying win 10: The win10 deployment file suitable for your device (the surface RT one) should already be at the root of the flash drive. If not, rename it to "install.wim", and copy it to the root!
Enter:
dism /apply-image /imagefile:d:\install.wim /index:1 /ApplyDir:c:\
Where: "d: \ install.wim" is the location of the deployment file from Win 10, and "c:" is the system drive to which you are deploying.
Close the dialog after execution and restart the tablet.
4. When restarting you will get an error popup: Press SHIFT+F10
-- This is the moment the drivers are no longer present and you will need the USB keyboard
5. Type Regedit and go to KEY_Local machine/SYSTEM/Setup/Status/ChildCompletion > setup.exe > Modify the value to "3"
6. Restart
NOTE: I did not connect to wifi until sometime later, there is a firmware update that seems to mess up the ability to install appx files?
-- Dont connect, for the above reason, a connection is however needed later on for the drivers.

Could you please verify that you executed all these steps, and maybe re-run them?

I first had the same problem. I booted the recovery mode (starting while holding screen-windows-button, vol up and press power), then "Use a device" and tried all the USB devices showing up until I was lucky it rebooted to a different recovery screen. As far as I remember this recovery from the USB drive had less options in the menu. There were indeed no clear options to select like D:/ or USB drive, SD card, SSD partition 1. Would have made it easier. So I would suggest to try all the options in the "Use a device" menu with the recovery USB inserted.
Can you please post a Screenshot or a photo of the Yoga running Windows 10?
Microsoft says that "Use a Device" will only reboot into recovery again... ?

Also I've rechecked the recovery booting of the device:
First picture, Booting the device using the 'onboard' recovery (got to this screen using the windows 10 installation and rebooted to recovery menu (advanced startup), not so sure using volume up/windows still goes into recovery):

Second and third picture, a prompt for a keyboard layout when booting from the USB drive. In my case the 'correct' USB Drive to use in the previous recovery menu 'Use a device' was the one at the bottom right.
I used a USB drive with an indication LED so I could see when it was being read (also booting to the recovery took significantly longer)

Isn't this the moment to edit the register and reboot again?
4. When restarting you will get an error popup: Press SHIFT+F10
-- This is the moment the drivers are no longer present and you will need the USB keyboard
5. Type Regedit and go to KEY_Local machine/SYSTEM/Setup/Status/ChildCompletion > setup.exe > Modify the value to "3"
6. Restart

Quick question, what did you do exactly to get internet access to the yoga 11 while no drivers where installed(when keyboard, wifi drivers etc. don't work)? Because to use a usb wifi adapter you'd need to install it's setup, which doesn't work because it's rt and it doesn't support it. So how did you exactly get internet access? Did your usb bluetooth adapter not need a setup? And also, do you know why usb tethering doesn't work? My only usb wifi adapter doesn't work because of the above reasons, so I tried tethering trough usb with my phone, but it would just show up as an unkown device with RNDIS as the name, and it wouldn't work(still no internet). Could you please help me out?

In my case the USB Bluetooth adapter just worked. I think another wifi adapter should also work. You need a device which works with the generic drivers which are included. I think USB tethering requires some drivers that are not included by default and therefore need windows update/an internet connection.
I suggest you try another USB Bluetooth/wifi adapter and maybe borrow one somewhere. You can also try to force install the generic driver on the wifi adapter you have laying around, it may work.. I have no hopes for USB tethering.
Hi again,
Thanks for your answer last time.
If it's no bother, could I ask which bluetooth/wifi adapter you used?

Hello, I found myself that it is not actually necessary to buy an adapter. The Windows 8.1 recovery USB drive contains a Wi-Fi driver which works under Windows 10. The hardest part is installing it, though it's easiy if you're familiar with installing drivers under Device Manager.
Do as follows:
- Plug your Windows 8.1 USB recovery drive into your Lenovo Yoga 11.
- Take note of the drive letter that the recovery USB appears under (for example D:\)
- Open Device Manager.
- Look under the 'Other devices' tab. Try to find a device with a name suggesting it is a Wi-Fi adapter. I do not have on hand what it is supposed to be called right now. If you get stuck at this stage, let me know and I'll look further.
- Right click the device and click 'Update Driver Software...'
- Click 'Browse my computer locally for driver software'.
- In the search location type the location of your USB drive. For example if your drive is letter D:\ than type in D:\. You must make sure 'Include subfolders' option is ticked.
- Click 'Next' and the driver for Wi-Fi should be installed successfully if you chose the right device. If you choose the wrong one it's fine, just try again with the correct one.
Let me know how it goes...
Добрый день всем. Попал данный ноутбук в руки. Подскажите как его можно использовать для серфинга в интернете и офисной работы? Надо ли его прошивать на windows 10?

so my yoga 11 has been laying around for some years now and usage has been getting worse mostly because of the included, no longer supported, internet explorer.
**working** windows 10 arm32 on lenovo yoga 11

documents and instructions

Bcdedit /set {default} testsigning on && bcdedit /set {bootmgr} testsigning on
if there are no errors, restart the laptop and enter the recovery mode command line.

3. Restart
--install appx files from framework folder
4. Desktop\appx1\appxbundle.ps1 > right click > run as administrator
5. Restart
