It sounds like Android Wear should be updated "soon" and we "should" have the speaker support all of us Huawei Watch owners have been longing for.
The next version of Android Wear is being tested on the Huawei Watch from the sounds of it. I would bet (hope) the Huawei Watch sees the update first! Here is a link to the article by Android Police:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/1...i-watch-and-it-finally-activates-the-speaker/
Anyone have any idea how to become a member of this testing group?

I'm looking into this now. Hopefully someone will upload the build for others to flash.
It would be nice to test the updated build, but I haven't seen any details about how to enroll in their beta program.

I was just coming over to post the same article. This may make my regret of leaving the Gear S go away!
This is why I bought this watch, for speakerphone support on Wear 1.4 update.
The ZenWatch 2 also has a speaker and should also receive an update. No other Wear watches have a speaker.
I hope that this is not fake.

Yea this is not fake.
The LG Urbane 2 LTE came with this version and had the speaker enabled. The Urbane was supposed to release with it but was recalled due to some "hardware" issues.
I specifically bought the Huawei watch for this specific reason. Watch calls from inside my pool this summer, yes!
I WISH they would include an option for a keyboard. Yes it is not ideal or reasonable for normal use, but there are some times when it would be awesome. Options are always good, even if they are disabled by default. Even a T9 style old school input would be awesome.

I use these two apps:
Mail for Android Wear
And
Messages for Android Wear
They are both replacement apps and are by the same Dev and have tiny keyboards that can be gotten used to!
They also have a web browser that works... well... It works...
I hope this is real. I'd love to have audio notifications on my H Watch.
Just waiting for someone to leak the firmware and confirm its true.
The guy who recieved the update didn't make a system dump before installing the update. This can only be done BEFORE installing. So there is no hope, we will get the update from him. Unless there is another user that copies the update.zip before installing.
On the other hand he won't be the only one to recieve this test build.

This device has an unlocked bootloader and a redily available copy of twrp.
ANY ONE who got that update could distribute it with in just a few minutes...
1. Receive update.
2. Let it apply
3. Unlock bootloader
4. Flash TWRP
5. Back up entire system
6. Post to internet.
But to what you are saying... Yes, it is correct that you can only get the update.zip before install. However see my point about getting the entire deal.
Then anyone could restore his TWRP back up and have whatever it is he has...
Perhaps newer builds of the firmware will be more widely tested soon, and more likely to leak out.....
The thing that's bothering me is that perhaps we might not get this firmware at all, and that it might be for testing features in a new 2016 watch from Huawei.
figures crossed we WILL get a download of this soon
Will there be any way to get AW 2.0 on our beloved device?
Hello,
There are several articles on Web telling Moto 360 1st will not receive Android Wear 2.0, for example: https://twitter.com/Moto_Support/status/741383438859685888
But if you are asking if any developer at XDA forum will provide a custom ROM for it then I don't know.

I'd love that also. Since Ive got no idea how to port wear to another device, sadly I cant help on this situation. I bet that a few hundred users would be really happy if someone can provide a proper 2.0 port :cyclops:
They say the Moto 1gen processor is just to old but you never know. I'm trying to figure out my next smart watch?

A custom Wear 2.0 would be verry nice for me. Today Google published that the Google Assistant will come to the Wear 2.0 devices, thats maybe a reason for someone to make a ROM
I'd even be okay with a 2.0 ROM where not everything works. I wonder what the hurdles to get it to work would be. A lot of Qualcomm devices lost support with nougat but still have nougat Roms. Hope this is something like that.

The reason that lots of Qualcomm devices only will have unofficial Android N ROMs is that to have Gapps on the device, the manufacturer has to jump through a bunch of hoops, and meet a bunch of requirements. The new requirement for android N that will cause them not to be updated to Android N is that devices have to have hardware encryption support.

Not true, to a degree, hardware encryption may be a reason that some devices didn't get an upgrade (although I can't say I've particularly heard that), but it actually is the lack of GPU drivers for OpenGLES 3.1 or Vulkan.
Yeah how about just even a skin or launcher that looks like 2.0

This is an fascinating idea!
Idk how it be done. Might have a think. I mustn't take on more jobs xD lol. But I like that idea. I have a rudimentary idea of how to make launchers on Android but never done so on wear launcher. Might look into it!
It could be possible if you can replace a lot of aspects. To look like the wear 2.0.
It have to be seriously optimized. Skin I don't think would fully work!
But it's something to think about! I like it .
There is only a few issues! Which is why I feel a rom. Would be needed. Google play Store is the one.

Hey guys, there's a bug I notice with my Moto since the AW 2.0 update. It seems to take forever to get passed the dying Android symbol (the little android guy with a triangle glowing over his chest) and whenever it finally gets passed it, the text is all off the screen and and I can't interact with the screen (it does say I have to swipe but it doesn't seem to detect my touchs)
Good news guys Looks like Google is giving us treats for the holiday season.

I'm guessing that every watch that is supported by AW2.0 will also be getting Oreo update. Yes, original Huawei watch is already beyond the 2 year support period but i don't think that the same rules goes for watches like it's usually the case with phones. Do you think original HW will be getting Oreo? I mean, we got new security update some days ago so it's still supported
I hope so,waiting for the update in a month.
In comments on articles about this, people have been reporting even the original Moto 360 is already getting this. I'm not sure the relationship between android version and android wear code but maybe it's pretty easy to merge the Oreo updates with the manufacturer's code now that they are on AW 2.0.

The fact that we got a security update doesn't mean much. There were some pretty high profile vulnerabilities that needed patching (KRACK, etc.).

That sucks :/ I kinda knew this would happen eventhough i was optimistic and hopeful that Huawei Watch still gets it. So, it's finally the end of software support for our beloved original HW **** you, you ugly ass HW2!
Can someone explain this End Of Life situation though...? The Huawei Watch is STILL on sale via Huawei's direct website! Surely they shouldn't be selling a watch without providing the software support seriously!? I thought the deal was 2 years after the device goes on sale or 18 months after it stops being on sale (whichever is longer).
I think this statement needs to be reiterated to Huawei and Google.
Also I bought the watch thinking the support life would be alot longer than a phone... People don't buy +£200 watches for only 2 years usage.
This "policy" may have just made me decide that I'm not interested in Android Wear anymore... Even my Pixel 2 will have a longer shelf life!
EOL is not here yet, just no Oreo. This is near the bottom of the article.
Some of the watches dropped from support include the ASUS ZenWatch 2 and 3, the original Fossil Q Founder, the LG G Watch R/Urbane/Urbane LTE, the second-gen Moto 360 and 360 Sport, and the original Huawei Watch. Those watches will continue to get Android Wear updates (like the recent v2.6 update) through the Play Store, but the underlying Android version will be stuck on Nougat.

The only one for the HW1 is discontinued. The dev's watch died and Huawei gave him a watch 2. If another dev steps up, yes, but since there was only one and that dev does not plan to continue.
The thing is I only love the look of HV1 watch. Most stylish. There is no other V2 watch out there that comes close.
I have a Huawei Mate 10 running Oreo so it's a shame my watch won't match my phone.

Well actually, just staying on wear 2 isn't a bad option, it still works wonderfully.
I agree. The more that Huawei Watch (1) is still officially on sale and is more expensive in stores than Huawei Watch 2.
I've made a post on their Swedish FB-site, here in Sweden it is still actively sold by two of Huawei's recommended resellers advertised at Huawei's site.
Can we figure out if the 18 months after sale claim is valid for Wear as well as regular Android? And was this formulated before or after the launch of the Watch?
I spoke to Huawei Technical Service. They do not have anywhere indicated that they provide support for 18 months from purchase / production. They claim that it depends on Google - not from them. They do not guarantee anything
It's a pity, because I have their P9 Plus smartphone and Watch 1 smartwatch and I think it makes the highest-class flagship.

This is amazing. For an old ass watch. Thanks Google
Wow great to hear that such an old watch still getting an update.
Anyway, still can't find any new smart watches that I think it's worthy to replace my Huawei Watch 1.
I saw a few videos talking about this update.. excited to see it! and glad its coming to our watch! i was just reading on how a lot of people downgrade from AW2.0 to AW1.5 because of how poor AW2.0 is.. I wonder if this new one will be better than both.
Hold your horses. So far, the only evidence we have that we're getting this update is an uncited and unknown Google rep saying that "all watches with 2.0" will get it. No official Google announcement has confirmed this that I can find. Also, that "list of phones that definitely won't get it" is from a Google post released in 2017 that simply states which phones will not get Android Wear 2.0. Call me a pessimist, but I'm far from convinced that we're getting this.
And if we do get it, I doubt it will be in the form of a firmware update, as some have reported. I suspect it will be just an update to the Wear OS app.

Just got an update; frustrated to see it is "android wear 2.16."
Apparently the wear os update is limited to oreo devices, but ours is nougat.
https://m.gsmarena.com/the_redesign...ling_out_to_smartwatches_today-news-33513.php
My guess is that this update is not a firmware update but mearly a wear os launcher redesign/update (supposition made based on the available screenshots) and maybe also of some apps such as google fit. This is why all devices get it (on wear 2.0) as it does not depend directly on wear os base version (Nougat / Oreo).
Edit: although from the gsmarena article the update is called Wear OS 2.1, so who knows. We play the waiting game...
I wish we would have a clear answer, I got a bit excited thinking I would have it and tried forcing an update in various ways.

It's rolling out now. There's a complicated but confirmed working (I did it) method to trigger it that has been described in other threads on this forum. People have also reported triggering it by uninstalling and reinstalling the wear os app from the watch. Either way, you'll probably see it any day now.
As I suspected, it's a wear os app update (must be version 2.16 or later), not a firmware update.

Not sure what was so funny about that. I currently have an unlocked Note 20 Ultra on T-Mobile and hadn't received any security updates from June through September while other carriers had apparently sent updates during that time. My understanding is that Google is more timely in sending out updates to phones they sell vs. carriers, but I just wanted to confirm that before buying since I've never owned a Google branded phone before.
All the updates come from google, and once in a while they will release slightly different versions for carriers around the world, I believe this is only the modem software, i know in the past that verizon also had some bootloader unlocking blocks as well which took longer for people to get root
Yep, Google is boss of the applesauce!

Google releases the updates, even though there were - as far as I remember - two instances in the past when Google released a certain update for certain carriers slightly later than compared to the other ones, even though we are only talking about hours, couple days max.

Like I said, I've never owned a Google phone purchased directly from Google. My current phone is unlocked with Google's OS and the updates come from T-Mobile AFAIK, which has recently been slow in rolling out their updates, so yes, I wanted to be sure about that before I spend my hard earned $900. Don't know why you had to mock my question. Everyone else who responded here was helpful and kind.
