Is it possible for me to get cm12 on my note 4 without root on the sm-n910v retail version on lollipop. I am running 5.0.1 and it's so buggy and I have to use something else because my phone loses battery quick and etc.
No not without root and I believe unlocked bootloader but may be a work around for the bootloader I think I remember on the s4.
Once we get root, there is potential for a work around for the locked bootloader. It's called safestrap. That's how a few other Samsung phones with locked bootloaders, but root have custom roms.

Still wont be able to use Cyanogenmod with Safestrap (if it ever comes to the Note 4). You can only use touchwiz based roms with SafeStrap.

Just a question im hoping someone can help me with
I have an S4 mini, I-9197 with std firmware, 4.2.2
build is I9197XXUBML3 which has knox and locked bootloader
I would like to get root on this device to run a particular app, but according to CF website
"UNLOCK BOOTLOADERS If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device"
So has anyone sucessfully got root on this model phone and software or is it not possible due to locked bootloader and potentially bricking it,
Im not concerned with KNOX warranty status as i dont use any apps that need it, just need root access.

Try Towelroot
https://towelroot.com/
download, install and that should do the magic.
have tried towelroot but phone just reboots therefore is unsucessful
I guess that that phone is completely locked from modification.
I've been digging deep trying to find a way to get the latest Cyanogenmod rom on my phone. The only problem is i have a bootloader thats locked. Is there anyway to install it with safestrap? (As thats the only way to get past the locked bootloader) or anyway to unlock the bootloader, or downgrade to 4.0?
Hi folks,
I have a Canadian Rogers locked HTC One M8 phone and I recently upgraded it to Lineage OS 7.1 and it has become dog slow. I am regretting why I unlocked the phone in the first place. I can confirm that the phone has S-ON right now and is rooted. I have tried all the older threads that talk about how to unlock a specific Rogers HTC One M8 but there are way too many problems:
1. Firewater no longer available and Sunshine does not work for me.
2. Older links to download Rogers specific archives/files/packages/ROM do not work
I am desperate and your assistance in getting back to Stock ROM and get wireless updates is greatly appreciated.
What kind of "unlock" are you trying to do? SIM unlock? Since you talk about already unlocking it (assume you mean unlock the bootloader) but then say you are trying to unlock it.
Sunshine s-off requires a stock (or close to stock) Sense ROM. Did you make a backup of the stock ROM before flashing Lineage (which you should always do, before flashing a custom ROM).
Also, sunshine requires root.

Thank you very much for your reply. yes I am trying to do a SIM unlock. I did not make a backup of the Stock ROM. When I got the phone almost 3 years ago, I went from the stock ROM to a Cyanagenmod and then I've been upgrading the phone with aftermarket ROMs and currently on the lineage ROM which is too slow for my device. I can't use the phone with other carries other than Rogers which sucks.
I honestly don't care about the the stock ROM. All I need to be able to do is:
1. Get my phone to a stage where I can SIM unlock my phone
2. I can go back to an older version of Android (probably Android 6.1 or something).
Your guidance is appreciated.

1. Whether you decide to do s-off with sunshine, or alternately buy a SIM unlock code; both those options will usually require going back to a stock (or close to stock) Sense ROM. So it's not really a question of whether you "want" to be stock or not.
Options may include flashing a stock-ish Sense custom ROMs (I think a few work, like Maximus or maybe LeeDroid), or you can also return to the Rogers stock using the stock TWRP backup collection, which has instructions and files on how to do so: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
2. After you unlock the SIM successfully, you are free to flash whatever ROM you like, whether it be Sense or not, stock or not, Android 6, etc.
Hello. I recently got my hands on a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SIII. The phone is network locked and I need to unlock it. I already rooted the phone.
However I have not been successful in unlocking the SIM. There is a method posted here on XDA which tells you to use the menu by dialing *#197328640#. However it won't work on the versions after Android 4.1
I was wondering if anyone can share with me where I can download the stock or a custom ROM with Android 4.1 so that I can use this method to unlock the SIM.
If you know of any other methods that don't require me to pay third parties please share them with me.
Thank you.
If the phone is running a stock 4.3 or newer bootloader, you cannot use the free method to unlock the phone.

That's right. I was wondering if anyone could share with me a 4.1 bootloader because I wasn't successful in finding one.
You can't flash a 4.1 bootloader over a 4.3 or 4.4.2 bootloader. Trying will probably brick the phone.
Hi,
Long story short:
is it possible to install customROM without root and to (re)lock the bootloader, and are there experiences with a similar situation where Apps check for closed bootloader and root (and stop working if detected)?
=> Goal: activate WiFi-Calling as my provider tuned down 2G-transmitpower due to the 5G-advances (without having enough 3G-coverage to make calls on UMTS-net)... BUT: I'm using two banks; one uses a PhotoTAN-App, that stops working if it detects an open Bootloader, the other Bank-App checks for Root & open Bootloader, and likewise stops working if detected. I have no idea about the PhotoTAN and Magisk, but the 2nd bank confirmed they checked rooted devices with Magisk, and that it does not work with it....
Thus, if I go for a CustomROM, I need to be sure that I can run it unrooted and with a locked bootloader....
Is there a way to install a CustomROM on the 5X with (re)locked bootloader and without root?
(or, if not possible: is there a way I can activate WiFi-Calling on StockROM if said one does not have the Carrier-Entitlements?)
Thanks for the help
@theunlucky: you don't need root to flash a custom ROM, only an unlocked bootloader. IMO you can lock it after flashing ROM.

Are you sure about locking the bootloader after flashing a CustomROM? I've read several threads now, and it seems a locked BL only works with StockROM?
Not sure, therefore IMO IMO a locked BL prevents flashing CustomROM, not running. Try. If it doesn't work, you unlock BL again (triggers factory reset). In the worst case you've to flash latest firmware for a clean base..
