GT-I9197 Custom ROM help - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all
I am rather new to phones (Not everything else though, rather geeky actually), and I've been looking for a custom ROM for my S4 mini, but alas I have found nothing. There are a lot of ROMS for, say the GT-I9195, and I was wondering if these would work on my phone.
Cheers

Okay, I can confirm that a GT-I9195 build will work for a GT-I9197, installed Cyanogen 12

Hi there I have a S4 Mini GT-i9197 LTE version. Are there any ROM's available for me to flash ?
I have seen several ROM's for i9195 version but none for my device. Please let me know if any ROM's are available for me to flash.

I ended up just flashing a i9195 rom and had no issues. Just make sure to backup your old rom first

Hi there!
Can you please tell me which i9195 ROM I should flash ? Whenever I flash any ROM apart from the stock ROM , the phone ends up in a bootloop even after factory resets and clearing all kinds of cache.

[Q] (Which) Clean Rom with soft keys

Hello One X users
Since my capacitive keys and GPS stopped working, Im looking for a ROM which is very clean without sense and just pure android with works GPS and soft keys...(I dont dont how did GPS stopped working, couple days ago I needed it but it didnt fixed even after 5min with gps fix app)
Which ROM do you recommend...?
Thanks guys
I would use an older Paranoid Android ROM, like 3.65. It will have the soft buttons in use by default as it uses the Hybrid mode to make Android think it is a tablet etc.. Give it a go. 3.65 is quite good on HOX.
I think I will go with kitkat..

Try them all, it's only a flash away If you flash fauxs kernel you can try them all without having to flash the boot.img each time, you just have to flash fauxs modules after flashing the rom. I'm using slim rom, it's a clean rom but still got plenty of things to play with.

Some flashing questions

Hi.
I have a T989 and I recently installed Cyanogenmod 10.2 on it (the official version). But I am not satisfied and want to go back to this ROM which I was originally running:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485218
Can someone please tell me what is the most effective method for doing this.??.
thanks
Will it work correctly??
I mean I am going from a higher android version(4.3.1) to a lower version(4.1.2).I've heard this can cause problems
Please clarify.Thx

That will work just fine. You might have to flash the version of gapps that corresponds to the version of Android you're installing to get Google Apps to work if they're not included.
I'd try out the final version of paranoid Android rom based on 4.4.4. It looks pretty sick.
Thanks a lot.:good:
Yeah sure I will take a look at Paranoid
One thing tho. From my experience anyway.
When flashing 4.1.2 touch wiz ONLY.....I always use these wipe scripts....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2235141
And I flash 2.5.0.0 or 2.6.0.0 twrp first with odin or a flashable zip, then the wipes , then the ROM. Gapps are included in TW roms.
Then, if you're gonna flash 4.2.2 or higher aosp ROMs....update to a newer twrp, use its wipes and flash ROM then gapps.
You can try without any of that, but if you have issues....try it this way.
---------- Post added at 08:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:41 PM ----------
Don't use the wipes on anything but twrp 2.5 to 2.6.0.0 and never on 4.2.2 or higher....only 4.1.2 TW based ROMs.

Different Data speeds with different roms

Why is this occuring? I'm using speed test, and the three roms i've tried kyobi has the strongest data speeds. I'd rather use poprocks rom from mega, but, the data speeds were about 20mb less.... Is this a modem or kernal issue? i've flashed the same kernal on all three.. I know poprocks was 5.0.1 vs 5.1.1 too. But even for Paul Pizz rom, data was slower... according to speedtest.net
Need a bit more info. Is your device a N910V? What firmware / Modem / kernel are you currently running? I don't know anything about Pop Rocks ROM, is it an International port?

poprocks is built by mega (androiduncensored.com) he's been a developer for a long time, also builds verizon specific roms. before he built firekat. for kitkat... very reliable roms. i'm n910v , dev edition. firmware i'm on BOK3, kernal i've mostly been using multi system 5.5 , and not sure about the modem.
I'm just spit-ballin here but have you tried to flash Battlehero 4/18/16 Data Fix V3.3
---------- Post added at 10:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:16 AM ----------
I just looked Pop Rocks up. Form what I am seeing it is an 5.0.1 LP ROM, Is that what you are currently running?

Well I was doing a bit more digging and I do NOT reccommend flashing the Data Fix I mentioned. Sorry, I do believe it is ONLY for the 5.1.1 LP and NOT 5.0.1 LP.
i've only flashed datafix when on ketal or kyubi rom. those roms have the fastest data speeds, i wonder if the international version bypasses some verizon speed limiter? or are the speeds mis read on those?
yea pop rocks is 5.01 - for verizon at least, mega doesn't think any of the changes of 5.1.1 are worth upgrading too
Yeah, I am running Kyubi ROM myself at the moment. I also have a backup made of Dr.Ketan ROM. I really like it as well. Dr.Ketan ROM has alot more tweaks available, but ya really have to watch out which ones you apply. Some tweaks break the devices call audio. After I get a ROM all set up and functioning properly, I always make a Nandroid befoer applying mods & tweaks. I have been doing alot of reading this morning about how to make or port ROM's so I can make my own. Android Kitchen seems pretty easy to use but I don't think it can be used with our device (N910V) and there is no more development for it since it has been retired.

CRdroid O/S works good on my old Samsung Galaxy S3 i747
I realize this is an old thread. But maybe there are others who still tinker around with this old (circa 2012) Samsung Galaxy S3 i747
While I am a newbie, I have enjoyed flashing Custom ROM's , from CyanogenMod, thru various versions of Lineage, and now CRdroid.
Totally free of Google; no Google Play Store, no Google Pay, no Google Framework, no Gapps, no Google spyware, no Google bloatware, no Google tracking etc.
I download all my apps as APK's which are readily available on the Net ( Google them . . . just kidding ).
My older Samsung S3 i747 was a 'd2att' originally locked to Rogers, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Then switched over to MTS (Manitoba Telephone System). Now running on Bell Canada. My replacement is also a Samsung S3 i747, originally running T-Mobile in Arizona, now running on Bell Canada.
Damn fine phones.

Lollipop? Circa 2014? Try using CrDroid 3.8.9 works great on my d2att (ie S3 i747) Based on Android 7.1.2 (I think). See link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-can-i747-m-compiled-by-alexenferman.4021787/
I came across a BootleggersRom port for the i9300, I may take a whack at porting it. Iirc, it should only need a updater-script change inside META-INF of the rom, and the metadata. Beyond that, I found an article about porting. I have ported an S7 rom before, so I'll do my best!

I have the same problem. I've tried multiple versions of RR and LineageOS, they all have various problems. No OTA updates, sluggish response, various bugs like no GSM functionality, errors when making calls.
Cyanogenmod had none of these issues.
I've even tried to revert to the stock ROM, but the stock ROM doesn't seem to be hosted anywhere any longer.
I recommend flashing a stock ROM, rooting, and removing bloatware.
Stock ROMs can be found at sammobile.com. Download will require the creation of at least a free account.

I really prefer to use a custom build made from the skilled guys at XDA, and not to try myself. I'm a little surprised to find nothing based on stock.
What was the latest Android version made by Samsung for N7100?
KK is the latest: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-N7100/
Developers may not use a stock ROM as a base because stock stopped at KK while custom ROMs have moved beyond that.

sammobile.com doesn't have all the versions of the stock ROMs for this device. E.g. they don't have mine, N7100XXUFND3.
Furthermore, they don't offer free downloads at the moment, only accounts that pay can download.
You searched by country code?
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-N7100/INU/
You could try samsung-updates.com for firmware.

I tried that too, there is "NEE", which is for "Nordic countries", which seems correct (since I'm in Norway). However, the baseband version doesn't match and I'm hesitant to download it in that case. But on the other hand, I have an unusable device at the moment, so I'm willing to try almost anything, although since samsung-updates nor sammobile are working, I'm not even able to try. None of the custom ROMs that exist at the moment for the N7100 are anywhere near properly working, and to my surprise it appears impossible to find a reliable source to download something as simple as just the stock ROM.

Try to download and see what happens.

I definitely can recommend trying this one by @wesamothman . It's based on the most recent stock ROM available (2017!) and comes in 2 flavours: full and lite (de-bloated).
