Viper4android Alternative No root? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The main thing I miss about having root is Viper4android. Is anyone aware of any alternatives that can be used without root? Thanks!

Spotify has a horrible equalizer. Viper greatly enhanced their streaming music service. I miss Viper since selling my G3.

I bought this Equalizer app, it has many of the features from Viper4Android. The paid version just lets you set up favorites I think (not really needed). I'm coming from Sprint SGS4 rooted to Vz SGN4 (no root) and I feel your pain!

what is best option for non rooted n5x ?
wich player or eq ?

I can't guarantee anything but the guy who runs this thread has had some luck with making Viper work on non rooted devices if you have Selinux Permissive. It might be worth looking into.

How can get you get Viper4android to work on a non rooted sgs7

Probably best to ask that in the SGS7 Forum...

I'm as well looking for my S10. That's why I got two phones ?? One S10 for daily use and a rooted S8 Plus for music and YouTube Vanced.
When there is Viper4Android FX for non rooted phones and only then I'm thinking about selling my S8 Plus.

Yes.
Hi,
I'm new to smartphones so excuse my lack of knowledge but why do you need an app for making your phone a WiFi hotspot when the S3 has the ability to do it already? Is it be because I am on Rogers (Canada). Maybe I'm missing something here?

Some carriers charge you for using the native hotspot function.

No tweaking of auto-brightness on T-Mobile?

So I'm a samsung n00b - long-time HTC user - but I noticed something strange.
I was playing with either a Verizon or Sprint GN3 @ best buy and noticed that the Auto-Brightness had a slider to tweak it from -5 to +5. I am trying out a GN3 from T-Mobile and I do not see that option for auto-brightness tweaking.
Is this something T-Mobile purposely/accidentally tweaked in their ROM only? If so, do any of the custom ROMs for T-Mo replace this functionality? I'm a paid user of Lux, which kicks ass, but it tends to use more battery than I'd like.
Thanks!

They removed it. And no, as of now, wanam xposed doesn't even work. (just that part of it). You could flash an international rom to get them back if you really want it.

Those rat bastiges. I can't imagine any good reason why removing that would help users.

There's no good reason for having a carrier check to use tethering either. There's no reason for Verizon to remove blocking mode. There's pretty much no reason for anything stupid the carriers do

What do you mean adjust by 5? Like keep auto on but still adjust a bit? I've never seen that and I've had android since g1.
I always have it at full brightness so this means nothing to me

Correct - the Samsung ROMs natively allow you to tune the auto-adjustment. So you can make it tend to be brigher or dimmer, but still have it auto-adjust. For some reason, the T-Mo ROM pulls this out. Go to Best Buy and play with a Verizon or Sprint GN3 and you'll see the option.
Frustrating.

Thanks for the assist. For the record, I do love Lux, but would prefer to use the native option Samsung already built in if possible.

Yeah, but you're using xposed which requires rooting. Or you have the N9005(international unlocked) not the N9005-T (this is the tmobile model). Tmobile did remove it for some reason and the only way to get it back and working is to use an international rom. Even xposed doesn't work. It puts the slider back, but the slider does nothing. I have xposed, so I'm not just saying things.

Hum...yeah I too am using xposed and just noted that it does nothing in regards to this. Bummer. Any other way than flashing custom ROM?

I was just about to search this topic. Why the hell would Tmobole remove this feature? On the T-Mobile note2 auto brightness was too aggressive as is the T-Mobile note3. Big sucker of battery life. I've been doing brightness manually the last couple of days and my battery life has almost doubled. This is one of the few things that make me miss my international note2. I've been out of the flashing scene for awhile because I didn't want to trigger SDS on note2 so I haven't had time to read up on flashing international ROM. Is it as easy as flashing recovery and then international ROM without radio? Does some of the bloat go away?

I use Tasker to customise my brightness. It works quite well and you set up for your own personal use.

Sounds like you're trying to install an old version of v4a. Search for the official thread on XDA and download the latest version (2.3.3.0 I think). Follow the instructions on the dev's thread.
Correct. Do not use play store version. It's not supported by V4a

Here u go. This is the one that's working for me. U have to download busybox for it to work. That's it. Enjoy

Thanks, Viper installed, its too easy. Busybox required.
Viper for Android is very Nice sound mod. Taking time for desired sound effects due to lot of personalization/customization in it.
I cant tell much difference tbh.
I use Poweramp - it already has a pretty awesome equalizer.

Works great on my Boost S3 as far as I can tell. I don't have service activated on it though and no root.
Edit: found how to activate root in the settings. Still no real problems. Had it freeze a couple times but I was downloading a 2gb torrent file. No reboots or any other problems so far. Love miui. Thanks for the find.

Sprint phone. But, I do believe VM is a subsidy of Sprint, so I suppose it would be safe to presume that it does. I'll get mine in a few days. Can't wait! This and PAC ROM are my most favorite ROMs to use.

Yes. To my knowledge sprint owns VM, It SHOULD work for the sprint version but I am not 100%. Just try it and let us all know! Best of luck!
Been a while but I'm just hanging out so... This is a d2lte rom which means it should be compatible with all the d2 variants.
Got it installed and it's working great. So far so good!
The only issue I've come across with the latest update is that the keyboard freezes sometimes; as well as the front facing camera. Other than that, it's pretty solid.

[Q] Anyone got viper4android working with the mate 20x?

Hello,
I am about to buy a rooted one but one of the very main reasons is to get viper4android but I cant find out if it actually even works with our phones.
Thanks!
PS Just found out it requires a 64 bit driver which is unknown if it will ever happen. Lame
Nope but try REEQ or EQFY in app store. Not as robust as V4 BUT can increase volume and bass considerably. On Bluetooth as well. Wow it sounds like a different phone when using one of the above!
