there may be a way (not 100% sure either way) , but it would involve entering commands in Android terminal emulator, so if that's something you can't do, best find a pc. rooting scripts only take 1 minute or so

I am currently using Lollipop V20A (polish) on my D855 32GB variant. I never unlocked or rooted my phone.
I saw that overheating and oversharpening fix were made by our beloved XDA developers and I would like to root my phone so I can install that but I'm not sure if I can.
Can I still unlock and root if I downgrade from Lollipop to KitKat via KDZ flash, and if I can, could anybody give me easiest and best links to do the unlock and root.
Thanks in advance
Anybody?

Yes you can. Just downgrade to Kitkat and then root.
In general section you have tutorial on how to get back to stock.
Guys, just got this brand spanking new. It's my first LG and from what I'm reading it's not easy to root this thing. I've read through the forums and wanted to ask if unlocking the boot loader through LG then installing recovery and flashing supersu for gaining root is safe for my phone or should I go through the low effort methods and others... Very confused...
I've got the H815 ...
I've attached a screen shot of my software too to be clear as to what I'm running...

If you have the 815 model, then it's perfectly safe. I just did it in the morning. Unlock, flash recovery, flash root.
Okay so I basically unlock through LG, flash the recovery and then flash super su through it and that's it right?

Also needed to ask, will unlocking the bootloader reset the phone or wipe it?

Hi,
I'm interested in rooting my International G4 H815. I've only got a MacBook down with me as my Windows laptop has broke down. I'm not into installing virtual machine and stuff as there's not much space in my rMBP.. Is there a way to root my g4 instead? Really appreciate the help everyone.
Cheers,
Bryson

If you have european or SEA version then you can unlock bootloader and flash root directly without having to go through all the hassle of the "easy root" process.
Yes I have the sea version. I should be able to unlock my boot loader but how do I root it afterwards by flashing?

You can't. Windows machine of Virtual Machine.
Backstory: My G3 was hard bricked and I got it working using board diag and a 4.4 TOT file...
After that, I mistakenly flashed a Marshmallow ROM (Global D85530B_00_1217.kdz) using LGUP tool.
Now, I want to downgrade it to 5.0 or 5.1. But no matter what Lollipop ROM I use (I've tried UK D85520I and D85520H, N Europe D85520F and some others), I can't get them to work.
The problem is the they flash fine but always get stuck on boot (on LG logo). *
When I flash the 6.0 ROM again, it boots without any problems.
What am I doing wrong? How can I fix this?

That was my first to go solution but it in this case, it doesn't have any effect. It boots right to the same point and gets stuck.

One way is using kingoroot, then install SuperSU thru play store and make it install normally, then get autorec for mm and reboot to recovery
