Hello,
yesterday, I bought a HOX. Today, everything went fine but 30 minutesn ago, I switched it off to change to SIM. Now, I would like to start the phone but it only shows the HTC logo. I also tried to use the hard button. It recognizes the combination but I cannot choose anything. I can only see the screen with FASTBOOT, RECOVERY, FACTORY RESET and so an.
I tried so establish a connection to the computer but also there nothing happens.
I plugged the phone via a USB cable to my laptop - not it shows HBOOT and checking SD card update. Google told me plugged of the cable and it should work. Unfortunately, for me this is not working.
Has anyone an idea what I could do?
I'm looking forward to your answers. Thanks in advance.

I've owned the DEFY for over two months, it is rooted but not flashed. Installed many apps and it had been working fine.
Today it suddenly go black when charging. Then, when pressing the power button, nothing happened. At first, when it was plugged into the PC USB port, the white LED was on. But later on, even the LED was always off.
Connected to PC via the USB cable, take the battery off and put it on again, the USB connecting and disconnecting sound was played on the PC. The Windows XP hardware manager briefly showed "Motorola USB device" and then it disappeared.
The screen is always black. Nothing seems to happen when pressing the power button, power+volume up, or power+volume down.
Please help!
I borrowed another DEFY and charged the battery to 100%. The problem persisted. The battery is good, for it can be used with the other DEFY.
Did you overclock your Defy? If yes, this might be your answer!
No. It has never been over-clocked. Just normal usage all the time.
If it can't even get to the recovery (hold volumn down) or bootloader (hold volumn up) screens, there's probably nothing can be done other than sending back for repair.
DEFY won't start after Flashing Chinese Froyo ROM
Hi,
I have the same problem: tried to flash Jboogie3 BlurlessGinger(2/16/2011).
Donwloaded the chinese rom from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895448
Flashed with RSD Lite: Result was "finished" and "PASS".
Pulled out the USB-Cable, LED light went off, but nothing happend.
Tried to reboot but no reaction from my DEFY. Even after pulling out the battery.
No Recovery Boot and no Bootloader Mode. :-(
Can anyone help please.
Thanky you in advance,

Hey guys,
luckily RSD was still able to connect to my DEFY even though it seemed dead. I reflashed the PL Froyo rom and it booted up smoothly. So be aware of the chinese rom!
Following an update to Lotus Traveler (email program I have to use for work), my phone will no longer boot.
Turning it on, it gets to the "Quietly Brilliant" Splash screen and then just sits there forever on the screen. I tried booting with it connected to the computer but it makes no usb connection to the computer.
Trying to go into bootloader mode (Volume down + Reset) does work, however the phone never makes a USB connection.
Anything suggestions on other things to try?
Thanks!
I was able to make a USB connection and Task 29 and reinstall a new rom onto the phone.
Not sure if it was chance but I seriously tried connecting it via USB in bootloader mode 30 times without luck, then tried it once with the memory card in and it actually worked. Go figure.
Hey guys,
Running ILWT CM7. Flashed about two weeks ago. My phone has been working fine except for the past few days where it's been constantly freezing, requiring a battery-out and turn on, and rebooting on it's own.
Last time it froze, I removed the battery and turned back on, and it got to the "htc" logo and froze. After ~25minutes, I took the battery out and tried again.
Phone seems completely dead, won't respond to power on, volume down and power on, no lights come on when charger cable is plugged in. When USB cable is plugged in and no buttons or anything on the phone is pressed, my laptop attempts to install drivers.
Tried leaving battery out for 30minutes and trying again, but no luck.
Any suggestions?
Cheers!

Looks like your phone is stuck in RUU mode.
In RUU mode you see the silver "HTC" logo as long as your phone is connected to your computer with an USB data cable. No charging lights will show in this mode.
You can use the following command to boot your phone to Android:
Code:
fastboot oem boot
When that does not work, because your partition table or system partition might be corrupted, then you would have to use the correct RUU (Rom Update Utility) for your phone to get it back to a working state.
When you have a bricked internal memory chip (emmc) than nothing will work properly to restore your phone to normal working conditions.
In the case you have an engineering HBOOT you could boot a ROM from SD card, but that is a far shot.
Best regards,

When plugged in with the USB cable -> computer, I still get no response from the phone itself. Screen doesn't turn on, still seems dead. My laptop still says "Installing device driver software" to no avail, and phone is still dead. No lights, screen is off, nada. As though it was powered-off.
ADB Devices lists nothing, and fastboot oem boot hangs on <waiting for device>.
Am I out of luck? I could send the phone off for repair, but as I'm rooted I think warranty is void.

Windows seems to need a driver installation for using fastboot. Did you try to automaticall install device driver software? Have you installed HTC sync on your Windows computer?
When your device does not respond at all, and even refuses to connect in fastboot, then nobody can tell that you have been rooted.

Sounds like your EMMC is fried, as of now I don't think there's a solution other than sending it back. Many say HTC accept and fix it even though it is s-off
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA
did you get this worked out? i had a similar problem, ended up booting into fastboot by holding the trackpad and the power button, then just selected reboot and my phone powered on like nothing had happened, i was running the same rom.
Hey, did you alreasy tourned your phone to the fastboot mode?
Or does your device still have a black screen during boot?
I rooted this phone and when I was done trying S-OFF, phone would not respond to anything. It would only blink the orange notification light when I pressed Power and Vol+, or it would stay steady green with both Vol keys and Power. But the phone screen would never turn on. So after trying for hours to figure it out. I finally took the battery off, plugged the phone held pressed the power button and then put the battery in place the phone finally turned on and it worked. I turned the phone off again and it was doing the same issue. So I did the same step but this time with power and vol- to get in the bootloader and changed the hboot version to Desire Z. After that phone works perfectly, turns on and off with out any issues.
I did have to try the trick a couple of times idk why but it would work once in a while not everytime i tried it. Hope this helps anyone who also ends up with a similar issue.
SHORT INTRO: My GF's phone, I am from PH [not living in Manila] so no reliable technicians, but my Gf brought it to one, the technician flashed it but I think it was fake or something becase it says Android 4.0, but exactly looks like Android 2.3, AND the phone keeps searching for network even if sim card is inserted. so I checked it myself.
I am frustrated and spent hours trying to fix this phone. AND I DONT GET IT!! WHY??
1.) I thought usb port is broken, but it was fine, i left the phone with charger connected for how many minutes, then it went on showing the battery charging animation.
2.) so i tried to boot, I SPENT HOW MANY MINUTES and TIMES PRESSING THE POWER BUTTON and it won't boot, I SMASHED THE POWER BUTTON [not hard tho], DISASSEMBLED AND CHECKED THE BUTTON, THEN TRIED AGAIN, THE SAME THING, but then IT WENT ON AFTER A FEW SECONDS, THEN I TURNED IT OFF[to prepare for installation of stock rom], THEN IT WONT BOOT, SOMETIMES WILL BOOT AFTER HOW MANY SECONDS OR MINUTES BUT WTF IS THIS. <<sorry :crying:
3.) i tried RECOVERY[stock] AND DOWNLOAD, it went into recovery mode ONCE, i tried wiping it all, "reboot system now" AND IT DIDN'T BOOT, IT WENT OFF, SO I AM BACK AGAIN TO NUMBER 2 PROBLEM. THEN IT WENT INTO DOWNLOAD MODE, but ODIN won't detect, I downloaded samsung usb drivers, the cable is from samsung, accessed the device manager[windows 10] and no device.
WHAT I TRIED/SEARCHED[NO LUCK THUGH]:
1.) turning it on without the use of power button [usb cable to computer, pressing volume up & down]
2.) turning it on with charger then removing battery quickly and reinserting it.
3.) i think everything, i've been searching all over the internet and here, no solution.
PLEASE! I need help. We've been planning to buy Galaxy S5 but we don't want this phone go into waste. This phone is over a year old. Is it because of the ROM? I really tried to boot into recovery but I don't understand problem number 2. PLEASE HELP! I'M DESPERATE :crying:
I've got a dead oneplus 5t from my son. It was not charging anymore.. So I've replaced charging cable and battery.. Seemed to work it was charging... However it doesn't boot... No logo screen screen stays black/blank.
Tried several suggestions on this forum to get into recovery mode, fastboot mode... But still nothing. Only vibrating works after a few seconds.
So tried to unbrick with OP5T_Unbrick_tool_dumpling_43_J.40_181105(OOS.5.1.7) and the qualcomdrivers..
I was able to install the drivers and I see they are installed in devicemanagement.. and an empty folder create for oneplus.
I charged the phone all night and was able to download the upgrade. It then says download complete and I tried to restart the phone..
Still just vibrating but nothing happens.. Seems like everything has vanished from the phone, no recovery, no bootloader, no files.
So how to proceed to get all the stuff on the phone? And maybe the displayscreen is dead, but how can I tell?
Also tried the SMT upgrade. Strange thing is the device and com port are seen in devicemanagement and active when I connect without volume up, but cannot start because it says When I try to use smt mode the program says: "This COM port is disable by user". With volume button up pressed and then connect, ledlight turns green but the qualcomdevice is grayed out in devicemanagement and it says waiting for device..
Any help is welcome. I am a noob in how to proceed on the phone however I have an IT background.
Spent already so many time figuring out .. maybe it's effortless and its for the trashbin.
Thanks in advance
SOLVED
I opened the phone again loosened all those tiny connections to battery, screen, charger, mainboard and re-attached them.. Somehow a connection seemed to be fitting allright as yI looked at it, but apparently wasn't :good:
