If I play games of around 1gb in size, they tend to force close unpredictably, but not quite all the time. It can happen with or without the phone being too hot, and can happen after 10 minutes and up to 30 minutes of playing. I am now running CM11 R19. It's the only ROM I've tried besides stock MIUI.
For all the gamers out there, what roms do you use so you can play large games without FC, because it's becoming a bit annoying?

I am just wondering if it's only my device. When I am playing some simple 2d games like krashlander, everything is smooth apart from slight jumps in the animation at regular intervals. Not the end of the world but quite annoying. You will for example notice it playing Clucked, if you watch the cars go by, or that parachute game where the plane flys past.
Yeah when I play Need for Speed, the screen freezes for maybe half a second every once in a while. A bit annoying.
NFS plays fine for me. I am talking about small jump. It's nothing like half a second which is huge.
Bubble Birds is the only game I've noticed small screen freezes and lag, and only starts to occur after a long game.
Not only killed my battery while downloading the needed DLC.
On top of that, my phone was boiling to the touch! And, after all that hassle.....the game lags! Didn't expect bad performance at all
Alright, just to add...
For some ODD reason, the CPU usage on this phone spikes HARD It's usually bouncing around 40-70%, that would explain the stutter in some games. Now to figure out how to fix this problem...

I've noticed that this phone stutters randomly when switching from app to app sometimes. I notice it happen when I am playing music via Poweramp, and then switch to maps, n when it loads the map, the song stutters hardly. I dont mean it skips a beat or something, it actually breaks the song and make it sound mechanical for a second before resuming the song properly.
Now I don't know if it's the phone itself, an app installed (maybe ram manager?) or just the lack of available Ram on the phone that is causing this, but it's sad and worrying to see a dual core 1.5Ghz cpu stutter under a light load switch. Anybody notice that the free Ram left on this phone is generally alarmingly low, around 130MB left out of 783MB? What is eating up so much Ram on this phone? When I was on the Atrix, I generally still have 300-400MB left free to be used (I dont recall whether it actually has the full 1000MB available or also 783MB though) and I never experience stuttering.
Is this resolution really tasking the CPU? or is it because it has to render these apps to fit properly in the 720P resolution?
p.s. Another game that lags: Jelly Defense, when you have a lot of enemies flowing down the path, it starts getting choppy.
As I mentioned, I'm pretty sure it's the CPU spikes doing it. I have around 400mb free of ram also. I know Dungeon Defenders lags on the Galaxy Nexus as well, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have as many problems. Then again, it was built on ICS
Grab Memory Booster Lite and you can monitor how much RAM is being used as well as the CPU % for each task
Is Dungeon Defenders working for everyone else? I can run it for about 30 seconds and then it just closes. No force close message or anything, it just freezes for a second or two and then disappears.

after a thorough freezing, go launcher shows me at ~580M free on a fresh reboot and usually running low 500M free mem at any time, running 510M free right this second. this is with RAM manager, which by my estimates accounts for 5% in that #

Do you experience any lags on Dungeon Defenders (if you have it)? Or do some of your games stutter like bmxant's?
I have had a problem that's grown worse over time with my G2. I've noticed the phone will be snappy, fresh after flashing, but over time, it will start to slow down. I chalked it up to it just needing a good flash every once in a while. However, it's gotten to the point it will become laggy/unresponsive within a day or two now. During these periods of lag I have managed to make it struggle to the running applications screen, where I have noticed that the lag is correlated with background applications restarting themselves. Google maps, Google Voice, and Waze are usually restarting (sometimes a few times before becoming stable), and I think Imo messenger might be doing the same. Once all the background apps are done restarting, everything returns to normal. I notice these apps all require some sort of radio use, and that the app I am actively using usually will only slow down, but not crash.

I have very similar issue. Soundhound oo, maps, Droid are trying to restart when it happens... I think it might be because we run out of memory... but I don't know why Android try to restart those processes so hard then.
Forgot to say I have a Galaxy S with CM 10.1
For me most of these issues go away once I set limit of background processes to 2. Even application install doesn't hand phone as before. OC also helps I guess.
I've noticed in my own use of my phone that games like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars seem to crash frequently. Usually in a 30 minute gaming session I'll see at least one crash. By crash I mean where the app just closes on its own and goes back to desktop.
I have already tried clearing data from these apps and even reinstalling. I'm also on the latest December 5th patch. In asking around my SO's phone experiences the same issue with Brawl Stars (that's the only game she has installed right now).
I wonder if this has anything to do with RAM management or if it's just my phone. I'm out of ideas right now and the only thing left is a factory reset. It's a lot of effort so I wanted to get an idea of what other users were experiencing before I went ahead with something more complicated.
Hello guys.
I had some issues with my Galaxy A70. It's lagging like hell while playing garena free fire, my device can handle the game without any issue but I Don't know why this happens.
The problem is when I play the game first 2-3 minutes game works fine but after 2-3 minutes game starts lagging phone slows down and touch sensitivity feels really heavy even game controls seems heavy I can't get fine movement because of this issue. And when I close the game phone seems so much slower it takes 10 seconds to open an app.
And while playing a game when I open the game control menu and close it, game works fine for 1-2 minutes and again it starts lagging. I hope someone here can help me with this issue. Any advice would be much appreciated
My device is not rooted and I'm on android 11 latest version.
Sorry for bad English
It called "thermal throttling".
Most smartphone will thermal throttle when the processor got too hot. Try lower your game setting. This can reduce the heat on the processor, and thus reduce the lag.

I accept your solution. but I'm already playing on lower settings the game lagging also on lower settings. I've tried factory data reset and after that lag disappeared for 2 or 3 days and again after 3 days lag came back I only downloaded the game (downloaded game after factory reset)
I think it's not" thermal throttling " maybe some systems apps causing the issue? Cuz every system has high usage
I've noticed every system apps running at 100%high frequency everytime, I think that might be the issue how can I fix this issue?

Disable you game launcher because when your phone heats up ,it drop your screen frame rate(fps) and also decrease your volume that cause so much of lagging issue.
My suggestion was to use a custom rom to get best gaming experience
It could be anything but if it is related to hardware section u can do nothing. So first of all u need to tell us about the CPU. If it's low-end or entry level CPU u can't play anything on it.
If it's mid-range, I can help u.
I have a phone running on mediatek helio g85 powered by android 12
I face the same issue as you do because I did an update of my os. So don't update your os.
And you need to charge 100% everytime you play. You need to restart the phone or clear the cache of your game before you play. Don't use your mobile data because it will heat up your phone quickly and don't run apps in background like Avast, Facebook Messenger etc. Try to remove your back cover and hold the phone like near a fan and turn off your volume u will notice a big difference and take a break after 30 minutes to cool down and power off the phone and don't use your phone at night power it off.
Also lower your brightness I mean u can play at night time it will not heat up your phone
