I've noticed in my own use of my phone that games like Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars seem to crash frequently. Usually in a 30 minute gaming session I'll see at least one crash. By crash I mean where the app just closes on its own and goes back to desktop.
I have already tried clearing data from these apps and even reinstalling. I'm also on the latest December 5th patch. In asking around my SO's phone experiences the same issue with Brawl Stars (that's the only game she has installed right now).
I wonder if this has anything to do with RAM management or if it's just my phone. I'm out of ideas right now and the only thing left is a factory reset. It's a lot of effort so I wanted to get an idea of what other users were experiencing before I went ahead with something more complicated.

Hey all. I've been a devoted Cyanogenmod user since my OG Droid days. By far the greatest rom to grace the Android platform. I'm having a problem with my phone randomly rebooting during use. It only happens when I am playing games on my phone. So far, the only games I've noticed to cause my phone to reboot are Drag Racing and X-Plane 9, which are the only two games I've been playing lately. I haven't played Angry Birds or X-Construct or anything else long enough to see the same results. I've also noticed my phone gets a little hot when this occurs. I don't have my phone overclocked or anything, just basic profiles on Set PCU to save the battery life, which I have turned off for the past few days to see if there would be any changes. So far, nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

remove setcpu,
go into cyanogenmod settings and choose govenor settings from there.
make sure your using stock kernel (you are, unless you flashed something different)
get kernel manager from app market and play with whats out there to see what gets you better performance
Happy Flashing!!

i don't know if it helps u or not, but i've been experiencing this problem too, but it happen when i was using the bionic Cow2 ROM.
the problem is very similiar as u facing now, i played that game (B&G), and suddenly it's freeze after the 2nd match. at the time, i had thought in my mind to pull out my battery, but suddenly my 9 years old son crying, so i let my phone and rushed to prepare a bottle of milk for my son
15-20 minutes later, after i finished take care of my son, i looked back to my phone, then i found it's not in the freezing condition anymore. but it showing the pop-up window from the "glu shop", and it was through from my default browser application (opera mini), so my conclusion is, the freeze is caused by the own mechanism inside the game (that always promoting other features of the game without permission/notification before), and hence from that moment, i always managed to cut off my internet connection while i playing the game, not just Blood and Glory, but almost all of the game in my phone (u can using the juice defender, or probably using the droidWall application if u have root ur phone)
hope this help you
best regards
OMG same PROBLEM HEREEE BTW i close some useless running on my background then clear ram then start the game. then when it goes 42celcius i gonna take a rest hehehe but after 30 mins of playing ( when 42 celcius goes ) it starts lagging a little
Ok, so I am on FE16 full restore by sfhub. I seem to be having an issue with Fruit Ninja, and only Fruit Ninja, where it is sucking the soul clean from my battery. After just 10 mins of play it will be at about half of my battery usage in the graph. Furthermore, if I close the app, it keeps sucking my battery dry, until I get in and force stop the app. I am having no problems with any other apps, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. I have removed and reinstalled Fruit Ninja... didn't help at all.
I have not noticed any issues on any of the leaked builds or cm9. My kids play it all the time and battery seems to be good. I would try a full wipe and just install fruit ninja. Give it a go for about 10 mins and see what happens.
Or if all else fails switch ROM's
Try changing your kernel.

Anyone having any freeze and black screen problem when resuming high end game like Asphalt Xtreme from recent apps ? Often facing this annoying issue..please respond..
not for me.. maybe u have too many apps and other crap hogging your memory space... does ur phone gets hot hot??? then maybeur cpu is throttling.
id clean up the phone. if not factory reset once. the whole process will take an hr or less depending on what you re install, but will give u a new phone

Don't know about other crap bt considering the ram most of the time my average usage is about 2-2.2 gig, i.e 10-12 apps running..and also I'm not getting any abnormal heating (mine stays at around 35°C) for which this annoying issue could occur..XDA examined that OP3 handles throttling very well amongst SD820 powered devices..maybe it's a software glitch ?
What ROM and kernel are you running? Any system modifications (like Xposed)?
I'm not having issues you're describing, the phone can even keep multiple demanding games in background and resume them normally.

Stock Official OOS 3.2.7 Kernel Version 3.18.20-pref+. Not rooted, i.e, no system modification. Mainly the problem's occurring after the game running in background for a long time
So fully stock ... I really don't know why this would happen :/
Can't do much without root, try factory reset or even fresh ROM installation (if you have time and nerves for it).
EDIT: maybe first try modifying build.prop file to keep more stuff in RAM (set that bg_apps value to 64 for example). Nothing to lose here, it might help.
If I remember correctly there's a way to do it via ADB without root. Google for a guide.

There is no problem keeping up to 20-23 apps in memory. But only apps. No games. And I'm facing this issue with Asphalt Xtreme only. I watched videos where same problems happening with Asphalt 8 and GTA SA when they are being fetched from ram. May be I should put my device into test with some heavy games keeping in background ?
It may be due to game then, if it's only one app that refuses to resume.
I've never personally tried GTA, but Asphalt 8 didn't cause issues. It stayed in RAM for hours and I was playing other high-end games in between.
The only game that constantly kept closing in background on my device is Riptide GP: Renegade. That one closed almost any time I opened another app. But it wasn't crashing or having black screens or sth like that, it just loaded up fresh when I tried to resume it.
Everything else that I tried resumes nicely after longer periods of time. For example: Real Racing 3, CSR Racing 1 & 2, and a bit less demanding games like Temple Run 2, Construction City, Atomas, card games ... pretty much anything.
I've only installed Asphalt Xtreme yesterday, haven't played much so can't yet say much about it. Will report in following days if I find anything interesting.

same here with Renegade. I checked again. Normal games are kept in memory with others apps with no problem. But for Asphalt Xtreme after long time in background it keeps showing black screen when resumed. I've to close it anyway. Will wait for your feedback on Asphalt Xtreme :good:

It seems that Asphalt Xtreme works well for me. Opened it sometime during yesterday afternoon, paused mid-race and continued to use the phone normally for the rest of the day. Tried resuming before I went to bed (~1AM) and it worked normally, instantly went back to where I left it. Paused again, checked mail and news, set alarm and left it over night. Now I'm using the device for 2 hours already, opened 10+ apps, did some updates while charging, quickly started a few other games and then tried resuming Asphalt again. Went right back into the race, no issues.
So ... I guess it's working here ?

Hello guys.
I had some issues with my Galaxy A70. It's lagging like hell while playing garena free fire, my device can handle the game without any issue but I Don't know why this happens.
The problem is when I play the game first 2-3 minutes game works fine but after 2-3 minutes game starts lagging phone slows down and touch sensitivity feels really heavy even game controls seems heavy I can't get fine movement because of this issue. And when I close the game phone seems so much slower it takes 10 seconds to open an app.
And while playing a game when I open the game control menu and close it, game works fine for 1-2 minutes and again it starts lagging. I hope someone here can help me with this issue. Any advice would be much appreciated
My device is not rooted and I'm on android 11 latest version.
Sorry for bad English
It called "thermal throttling".
Most smartphone will thermal throttle when the processor got too hot. Try lower your game setting. This can reduce the heat on the processor, and thus reduce the lag.

I accept your solution. but I'm already playing on lower settings the game lagging also on lower settings. I've tried factory data reset and after that lag disappeared for 2 or 3 days and again after 3 days lag came back I only downloaded the game (downloaded game after factory reset)
I think it's not" thermal throttling " maybe some systems apps causing the issue? Cuz every system has high usage
I've noticed every system apps running at 100%high frequency everytime, I think that might be the issue how can I fix this issue?

Disable you game launcher because when your phone heats up ,it drop your screen frame rate(fps) and also decrease your volume that cause so much of lagging issue.
My suggestion was to use a custom rom to get best gaming experience
It could be anything but if it is related to hardware section u can do nothing. So first of all u need to tell us about the CPU. If it's low-end or entry level CPU u can't play anything on it.
If it's mid-range, I can help u.
I have a phone running on mediatek helio g85 powered by android 12
I face the same issue as you do because I did an update of my os. So don't update your os.
And you need to charge 100% everytime you play. You need to restart the phone or clear the cache of your game before you play. Don't use your mobile data because it will heat up your phone quickly and don't run apps in background like Avast, Facebook Messenger etc. Try to remove your back cover and hold the phone like near a fan and turn off your volume u will notice a big difference and take a break after 30 minutes to cool down and power off the phone and don't use your phone at night power it off.
Also lower your brightness I mean u can play at night time it will not heat up your phone
