Hi,
I just got my Fire TV set up. Used Smart DNS Proxy as part of wifi set up. Installed Netflix. When I open netflix and login using login credentials, the app crashes. I can't go beyond login screen.
I can stream Prime videos, crackle etc but not Netflix.
1 click settings is correctly set on Amazon account. I have tried deleting data and cache of all the apps installed and restarted the fire tv but couldn't succeed. I even tried resetting the fire tv but it didn't help either.
Any help is appreciated.
Is there anyway I can enable some logging to see why Netflix is crashing?

I saw your thread on prerooted images: http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/development/prerooted-stock-images-t2882337
I see that you have provided a zip update to fix Netflix. Unfortunately, I am on the 51.1.4.0_user_514006420 version so I can't root my fire TV. Is there anyway I can apply your Netflix fix on this version?
Attaching the logcat output. Any help is appreciated.

I was hoping that downgrading the Netflix app might work for me. I uninstalled the latest Netflix app and installed the old app http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FLJ1CFM/?tag=aftvn-20. But, when I open the old app, it asks me to upgrade to the new version.
I am not able to use Netflix at all. I hope some one can come with a solution soon.
Found 2 error lines related to Netflix. I searched for those and both lines are sometimes related to orientation issues. Might not be related to your issue, but figured I will throw this out to you:
Do you have any apps loaded to change orientation on your FTV?

No, it is a new box. I have tried resetting the box and installed only Netflix. Even then it didn't work.
Netflix is updated to 1.1.1 build 125. I am facing the same issue on this version of Netflix as well. Raised a ticket with Amazon. It's been a week. Doesn't look like they have been progressing much on my issue.
I hope some one here will be able to help me fix the netflix issue.
Attaching the log from the new version of Netflix.
As expected, Amazon and Netflix said they don't support the issues when Netflix is accessed outside US, UK and Germany. Looks like I just need to wait for new firmware releases on Fire TV and/or new version of Netflix to see if it ever works.
I hope some one from here can help me with the issue that I am seeing. Or some one finds a way to root the latest version of the firmware so that I can install some custom firmware or older version of the firmware to fix the Netflix issue.
This issue was because of HDMI-CEC issue!
I disabled the HDMI-CEC and restarted the Fire TV and Netflix is working like a charm.
Netflix is crashing again after the latest Fire TV update. This is so frustrating.
you're not alone
i'm in US and just receive my amazon fire tv stick
software update being done automatically during setup, so it's up to date
netflix is not pre-installed, so i install from store ver.1.1.1 build 125
the app crashses straight away after login using login credentials
Thanks for your reply. It worked for me couple of times but 99% of the time it didn't work me. Raising a ticket with Amazon didn't help either. They are clueless!
The status as of today is it is not working.
I sideload latest netflix ver.3.8.3 from google playstore and netflix working
However since this netflix version for tablet, then fire remote won't work on this version
I'm going to call netflix and escalate this issue
Are you getting HD on the side loaded app?

I have a unrootable Amazon Fire TV and I used Llama to create a shortcut on the home screen. I noticed the other day that the thumnail pic that was in place of iKono TV app was gone, so i used the Amazon Fire Utility to put it back and and after a few minutes it again disappeared. How do i fix this. Thanks in advance

see above thread. it is a know issue, the developer is aware and will fix the issue in the next utility update
Has anyone been able to use Kodi with Llama to get Kodi to launch from the AFTV Home Screen? I've tried every tutorial available, and followed them to a T. I can't get Kodi to launch from the Classic TV app. I uninstalled Kodi, and installed TVMC, and it works fine. Does it not work on Kodi anymore? I tried the manual way, and I also tried using ADB Fire to make it launch, and neither worked. I just picked up the AFTV today, so it's not a rootable one.

I'm sorry you had problems, but adbFire's Llama options work fine. You have the choice of using either Classic TV or Ikono TV and the ability of replacing the icon as well. If you'd like help in figuring out what went wrong, let me know. Root's not required.

I have another AFTV up in my living room, and everything worked fine on it. That's why I'm so confused. I ended up installing Kodi from the Amazon App Store, so now it loads from the main page.
It works for me. But is it still needed? You can install Kodi from Amazon AppStore - and the icon will show up even if you already have Kodi which will cause the installation to fail. The only caveat is that you have to use original Kodi (not SBMC or something like that).

That's a valid question. I'm keeping the Llama process in adbFire as a backup, if nothing else, since Amazon could stop the new method in a heartbeat.

I still can't figure out why it wasn't working. I did the EXACT steps on my other AFTV, and it worked perfectly. The AFTV that it's not working on, is brand new, purchased last week. Is there any way Amazon did something to the new ones to prevent the Llama method from working?

I just set up a new AFTV with Kodi/51.1.5.0_user_515030720 and the Llama process worked w/o problems. Nothing's impossible, but I really doubt Amazon has broken Llama. I don't know what happened in your case.

I literally spent about 8 hours trying EVERY single method I found on the net. I mean, the ADBFire method, is pretty much dummy proof, and not even that would work. When I tried it manually, I picked a bunch of other apps to launch instead of Kodi, and they all launched perfectly, so I know I was doing it right. As soon as I would switch the app to launch to Kodi, it wouldn't work. What's weird about it, is I tried an older version of TVMC, and that launched fine. I tried older versions of Kodi, but they wouldn't launch.
I have exact same issue. I tried for hours to get it to work and it wont. I totally wiped my other one and it works fine. I am not sure what is going on. I am using user 51.1.5.0_user_515030720 on both with same account.

Well, with multiple reports, obviously something is going on, but I can't replicate it on a new FTV with the new firmware, fresh delivered from Amazon last Saturday. Llama works fine here.
So, is anyone willing to step up and help find a fix? I need anyone with this issue to work with me trying to solve the problem, otherwise I can't resolve it.

Looks like @SaleeN is running the newest fw. If you have the same then it seems like amazon broke the llama function....I can't see why? Allow the app in their store, allow side loading of kodi, kill the llama shortcut but not the other workaround...could just be a fluke or a bug in the software
Edit--sorry I missed @jocala's last comment. Mine seems sort of redundant.

It's the Firetv. The furthest I got was replacing the ikono app with kodi. It just won't open up kodi. I tried manually and through abd

Open Llama and check the event. Did you import from USB?
Press the FTV remote menu button
Choose Import/Export Data
Import from USB Storage

Yes I tried that also. I tried setting llama to open both ikono and classictv and it won't. I had just finished another firetv right before this one with no problems
This is a known working Llama dataset for ikono copied from a new Fire TV running 51.1.5.0_user_515030720 firmware. Give it a try (files need to be in the /sdcard/Llama directory). Once it's loaded from USB, see if it works from within Llama by editing the event and doing test action.
I was just about to post as I was having the same problem and it seems to be an issue with one of the versions before their most recent updates. I just updated to 51.1.5.0....515030720 and now it is launching as normal. before that It would launch ikono and appear to close spmc when lama tried to execute it. Try updating your versions to the latest and see if it fixes it.
I tried for hours last night and couldnt get kodi to open with llama. Lo and behold I tried it again this morning and it worked. I'll keep in mind to do it through sd card next time to see if that way works.
Is anyone having issues with Kodi today?? I clicked on the kodi app that I downloaded on the amazon appstore and it is telling me that it is incompatible. So I downloaded kodi and sideloaded it thru my computer and I am getting the same response.
I think it's normal for Amazon to tell you it's incompatible. You have to side load it. That being said, you should use SPMC instead of Kodi.
Hi, please can someone suggest what might be wrong here?
I've had my Amazon Fire TV box about a week now. Love it. Kodi installed and running fine. I also use the Netflix and BBC iPlayer native apps.
Weird thing, if I finish watching content in Kodi, go to home and launch Netflix or BBC iPlayer, I can browse content in either app but if I try to play a video in either app it fails to play. I've found that if I come out and return to Kodi, select to exit Kodi and then press home and launch Netflix / BBC iPlayer, videos in either of these apps will then play fine.
It's as if not exiting Kodi properly is causing videos in other apps not to play. How could this be, and how can I resolve it?
Use the exit button in Kodi when exiting Kodi. Do not just hit the home key on the remote. You can also force stop in settings>applications>"manage installed applications">Kodi
Thanks, but I was hoping that wouldn't be necessary. With kids in the house simplicity is necessary. Does everyone have this symptom then? It's not just my set up?
Yes it's everyone and it's annoying. I use a app that just kills every process before going to Netflix

Oh this is nothing like Llama this would just kill every process running.. possible to use Llama to trigger Fast Reboot app but I'm not to familiar with Llama.
I have a tasker task that kills Kodi if Amazon Vid or Netflix are running. Very clean, no reboot needed.
On Kodi 15.1, which I just tried out, the tasker task isn't needed. But, kodi keeps freezing up randomly, so I'm rolling back to 14.2.

Thanks. I've just installed Tasker apk, but it seems to need a mouse to use it properly (which I don't have for my AFTV).
Guess what I'm looking for is an app that can automate the following: if BBC iPlayer or Netflix app is running, kill Kodi. Does anyone know of such a solution, please?

bluntly: you're fixing the wrong problem. If you're sideloading and doing advanced configuration, you want to occasionally have a keyboard and mouse. You'll only need them for an hour or three when you first set a lot of the apps up, and occasionally after that so you can steal them from a computer.
But for using apps that are basically set-and-forget, so helpful.
USB mice can simply be plugged into the box. For a fireTV stick, do bluetooth mice work? Apparently the USB port is worthless on the stick, but I have a BT keyboard/mouse combo that work fine with the OS on the box, so it might work with the stick, too.
After I rolled Kodi back to 14.2, I needed to get my tasks going again. Right now I'm using firestarter to autorun Kodi at device boot, and to easily switch between the Amazon homescreen and Kodi.
My tasker task works great and is simpler to set up than I remembered it being. If the context is Amazon video, Netflix or Digital Concert Hall - the three streaming services I use, essentially - Kodi is sent a non-root kill command.
I haven't had an issue with halted streaming since I reinstalled tasker.
