The build number that you posted is from the custom rom or the info you get in fastboot?
And take a look here if you want to return to stock: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

Which version no. that you restored ? 2.22.709.4 ? That won't work on your device.
You need to restore the lowest version that may work for you is 3.28.709.6
but the appropriate one is 4.16.709.9 then do OTA to 4.24.709.2

I don't remember there is a version 4.16.709.4 .. what I know is 4.16.709.9 updated from 3.28.709.6 (edited my earlier post) as seen in OTA name :

Why don't you post your fastboot getvar all result minus serial no. & imei no. so we can see what version that you actually need.
I got to go now ... post the details and I will check later in the afternoon or maybe someone else will be able to help you.

No worry about now or before or after...
I need the "fastboot getvar all" so I can make sure which the correct backup to give you.
I have backups for x.xx.709.x for all version except the 2nd update for 5.0.2 as it was pulled back by hTC.

You need 4.24.709.2 to return to stock.
As I mentioned earlier, it seems that hTC pulled back the 2nd update.
But I'm not sure whether the 2nd OTA is available now as I'm on custom ROM.
If you need this 4.24.709.2 TWRP backup, PM me your gmail address and I'll authorize link for you tomorrow
You have same problem as this guy : http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/update-how-to-correctly-t2878876/page3
p.s you can remove your pic of getvar as it contains your serial no. & imei no.

Here is the link for stock recovery image 4.24.709.2 : http://sourceforge.net/projects/htconem8/files/Recovery/4.24.709.2_recovery.img/download
I'll send you link for 4.24.709.2 after I receive your gmail address
No need to relock bootloader and the TWRP backup is pure stock clean ROM, no root no additional files .. just like when you first take it out from box.
You need TWRP 2.8.5.0 or TWRP 2.8.6.0 so make sure you have the right TWRP version.

Hello,
I have a HTC One X that have software issues like malfunctioning of the screen and even when we reset the phone, it doesn't work as it should.
Now I downloaded 2 RUU's for the HTC One X to restore stock OS, but it doesn't work because it says that I have a newer bootloader version than I want to install(error 140).
Now I searched on the internet and also on XDA, the only option that I found was something to try from a German forum, that was also a RUU but didn't change the situation and downgrading the bootloader.
Now I don't want to loose the warranty and know to relock the bootloader and also want to keep everything original, because it is for someone else that doesn't want to have something that's not original of HTC.
What could I do to restore the complete OS on the HTC One X without losing warranty ? Sending to HTC won't be a solution for now, because we need to fix it by ourself and if it isn't possible, then we will send it as last option to HTC.

Thank you very much, but how am I going to restore the Nandroid backup without changing the recovery? Or am I just changing the recovery and after that flash stock recovery back ? And how about the MD5 sum that needs to match(Clockwordmod)?
Please explain me these things then It will be much easier to understand for me.

Yes, you will need CWM recovery for it. Try this one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240646
1. Extract boot.img from the nandroid zip and put all other files in /clockworkmod/backup/todaysdate/
2. flash the boot.img via fastboot and then erase cache
3. Go to recovery and use this script to wipe /system /data /cache and dalvic : http://d-h.st/kG0
4. Restore nandroid backup by going to Backup and Restore.
5. Reboot!

Could anyone help me getting back to stock? I tried to install the nanroid backup of 2.17.xxxx but the touch screen didn't work then. Right now im on insertcoin which is fully working but i need to get back to stock.
I'm providing the Direct Link to the Official OTA ENDEAVOR_U_JB_50_S_hTC_Asia_India_4.19.720.1-3.14.720.24
FOR CID_038 running on 3.14.720.24 ONLY
DOWNLOAD
As most of us already know, Indian HTC ONE X users have got the most advanced version of the 4.2.2 i.e. 4.19.720.1
The wait was worth waiting
Steps to install:
1) Flash any old rom like 4.1.1 or restore its nandroid backup
2) Flash firmware.zip from this OTA (it has new hboot)
-Enter fastboot Mode
Lock Your bootloader to update hboot from 1.33 or 1.36 to 1.73
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Now flash the firmware.zip (it has new boot.img, recovery.img, radio and hboot)
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
you'll see a green progress bar going on the phone's display,
& this might give u error in the mid, take it easy,
write
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
again and it'll continue and finish
then
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Now you can unlock your bootloader again, using the Unlock_Code.bin file from htcdev.com:
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_Code.bin
3) Flash Philz Touch Recovery and Flash this OTA 4.19.720.1
You are on complete stock 4.2.2 Now
In case you already have latest hboot (1.73) and are having touch issues in recovery and 4.1.1 ROMs, do as follows:-
1) flash philz recovery
2) restore 4.1.1 nandroid backup
3) install the OTA.zip
4) Reboot,
You are on complete stock 4.2.2 Now
Those having Camera Crashes (which is due G-sensor issue)
install this OTA Camera apk from HTC
Link to hboot 1.73 Firmware.zip
If you are facing low resolution camera (5 or 6MP only) in 3rd party camera apps, use @HebeGuess 's Camera Parameters Fix
Works like charm and u'll get 8 MP Resolution in all the apps.

There are a few tutorials to manually flash the OTA like this one
But make sure, that once u flash firmware.zip, ur hboot will be upgraded and you can't revert back to older hboot version
also, touch won't work in 4.1.1 ROMs with this new hboot!
It is meant to support 4.2.2 only!
Does this method update the hboot? If thats so then any cid could have updated to the latest hboot. I doubt it very much, Though I highly wish that I'm wrong

You can flash 4.1.1 ROMs also, but touch won't work in those coz newer hboot has new touch drivers, so..
and without updating hboot, the OTA won't install!

@ronu Yes you can upgrade the hboot before installing OTA, infact it is neccessary to do so!
You have to update the hboot first and then install the OTA.
@obscurant1st i don't have one x anymore, so can't upload the OTA, what you can do is
-restore an old 3.14.720.24 backup i.e. 4.1.1
-flash stock recovery,
-lock bootloader
-go to fastboot, write fastboot oem rebootRUU
-flash the firmware.zip
-and then install that OTA.zip
-flash Philz Touch recovery or Repacked TWRP or any other non-touch recovery (coz touch won't work in old recoveries)
You'll be on complete stock, now you can make a nandroid backup yourself!

According to your Hboot 1.36 I think you can restore your nan backup of 4.0.4 (I think may be 4.0.3) but you need stock recovery of this 4.0 rom.
After that check for OTA update to 4.1.1 and install it, then check again for OTA 4.2.2 and install it.

I tried restoring the 4.0.4 backup but it stuck on the boot screen. I have downloaded the 4.1.1 nandroid backup from XDA itself and I'll try if it works. Would I have to lock my bootloader to get updates even after flashing stock recovery from the nandroid backup? If so, when should I lock the bootloader? After flashing boot.img or recovery?
Thanks!

Where did you get the version number from?
The best way would be using fastboot commands:
1) adb reboot bootloader
2) fastboot getvar all
Could you please post the result of those commands, without IMEI and serial number, so I can have a look. Latest firmware is 2.22.401.5 for all WWE devices having x.xx.401.xx firmware versions.

Going back to stock ROM using the nand backup and flashing the stock recovery as @Mr Hofs has already recommended, will bring you back to stock.
- install the backup zip using TWRP
- flash stock recovery using fastboot flash recovery nameofrecoveryfile.img using cmd while your One is in bootloader
After this you will be abled to get OTAs again. During the update process the ROM as well as the firmware on the phone will be updated. And you need the updated firmware to run the current ARHD ROMs.
Once you got all the current updates you can go re-flash TWRP and reinstall ARHD.

nand backup means the full nandroid TWRP backup of the stock ROM for you device. It's not only the file you marked in your screenshot! This means that the Backup = stock ROM!
You will find the backup zip in @Mr Hofs thread, as he already wrote:

Just read carefully and see the posts the other members are naming here! Please don't take this personal. We all like to help others, but you won't learn a thing if we keep spoon feeding you the single steps, which btw. can be found in many threads on this forums. It's all about carefully reading the many threads on here to understand what we are trying to tell you, when writing commands and single steps.
As you already flashed a custom recovery and a custom ROM, you should be familiar with backing up and restoring the stock system. This in fact should be the first thing to learn prior to flashing custom recoveries and custom ROMs.

This screen shot is the backup of the original rom that came with it and I was done with CWM quiz show the entire folder, not just the selection poir all files to be part of the backup that was made before the installation of the Android Revolution HD! I wonder how do I put it back? and after I placed as to update the firmware?
When I was with the original rom the A & T I went to look for updates but no updates had said he was already updated! OTA update would you say that? done correctly?
Ok then, got it. If you are still running CWM Recovery you can copy the whole 2014-8-xxxxx-releasekeys folder to your phone. There it hast to be placed inside the clockworkmod/backup folder.
After you have done this you can boot into CWM and restore it. The only thing left after this is the stock recovery to apply OTAs and thus update to the newest firmware again.

I am no longer with CWM! Now I'm TWRP 2.7.0.2 how do I restore the backup I had made with cwm?
You can't restore a CWM backup using TWRP, as the two recoveries are working different regarding this case. Thus you got to download the TWRP Backup from @Mr Hofs thread and apply it using TWRP restore.

That's right but the backup mentioned by us is stock and unchanged, so nothing bad to happen by downloading it.
You could still reflash CWM instead of using TWRP to restore you own backup, if you don't like using someone else nandroid.

I'm thing you need Flash FW sense, TWRP recovery
boot in TWRP recovery/wipe/format - type yes and flash rom zip or restore nandroid backup
Use this thread and follow ALL instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523
I did get back to stock. BUT I'm on 4.16.401.13. Everything works fine on that one. Changed my cid to HTC__E11, normal Dutch cid.
My original cid is VODAPE17. For some reason I can't get 4.19.161.3 work. Wi-Fi don't work on that one. I tried an older nandroid and flashed the firmware. The older backup does work. When I do ota to the newest WiFi stops working.

Change CID to superCID (11111111) and flash stock FW 4.x
see results complete or failed, if failed you need flash again
Flash TWRP recovery, in wipe you need chose "format " (it is formats all partitions without SD card)
You can flash any rom zip

With superCID you can flash any stock Ruu (GSM)m you can flash original stock (if you have) or flash FW + restore nadroidbackup+srock recovery
For OTA update after flash Ruu, you need change original CID and relock bootloader

Now I'm trying to get back to the first nandroid I have: 1.54.141.10 and then download and install all the OTA's again. So I get back to the base.
The last thing I tried finally works. It takes more than one hour to download all the OTA's. Thanks @heobanhki for your answers

I'm on the same firmware (completely stock - not rooted)
I could make a nandroid backup for you, but my upload speed is too slow, it would take ages to upload. Unless you only need the stock boot.img or recovery.
There's also an RUU available for your device, but the version is kitkat. I am not sure if you can flash it on an s-on device. But you can give it a try

You can get the right RUU for your device from here
You need to rename it to 0PFHIMG and copy it to your sd-card. then boot into bootloader (volume down + power button) and it should ask you to install the RUU,
RUU will wipe your entire internal storage, and it includes boot, radio, recovery, and etc.
But again, I am not sure if you can flash an RUU if your device is S-ON, (which is a security measure by HTC to prevent certain modifications the device)
Still, it doesn't hurt to give it a try. You have to re-lock your bootloader though.
This is my current setup. S-On but relocked. You mean so?

Okay, you are s-on, but since you are relocked, it may work.
Try moving the ruu to sd card and rename it as I mentioned before. Give it a try and see if it works or not

Once you are rooted, your system partition is modified. The OTA always checks the MD5 sum of the system partition, and if it doesn't match with the stock value, the update will fail.
If you have a nandroid backup of the stock Rom, you can just restore and flash the stock recovery. Otherwise you have to use the RUU.
Just make sure to flash the stock recovery before relocking your boot loader.

I'm glad it all worked out! You don't need root for a nandroid backup, you just need a custom recovery.
Flash the custom recovery from fastboot using the command "fastboot flash recovery xxx.img" (the name of the file)
Then make a nandroid backup.
If you ever want to go back to stock again, just restore the nandroid backup, and then flash the stock recovery.

have you relocked your phone?
I'm s-on, unlocked bootloader
aaa ... I think I understand. must first relocked bootloader, and then flash stock?
upd. so, i relocked bootloader, insert sd card and see same text:
! image update fail !
main version is older!
update fail!
device halted due too large image update fail!
press POWER to reboot
im on lollipop 5.0.2 now
and now I can't log on. only loaded bootloader
so, i unlocked bootloader and returned back into the system. no longer have to advise, today or tomorrow will posting flashable ROM. thanks.
same problem here, did you find a solution?
