[Q] Camera flash on when charging - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all, might be a stupid question but my camera flash lights up dimmly and stays on whenever i plug the tablet into charge (ie stays on all night). I dont know anyone else with a tab s to compare so asking here, not looking forward to returning it/sending back to samsung centre for weeks as need it for uni.

Apparently this problem also exist for the new S6 and S6 edge. I don't have my 10.5 with me right now so I can't test it unfortunately.

Just checked my T800 10.5 no led light while charging. phew
EDIT: download an flashlight app and turn the led off and on a few times and see if that fixes the problem, some.
John.

Just tried a flashlight app no luck, it's not a huge issue as I don't think ill ever take photos at night with it. I couldn't find any other mentions of the problem online, might look at the s6 problem tho thanks for the info.

I just checked mine and it doesn't light up when plugged in.

Mine does exactly the same. Never used to.

Try changing rom

Just checked my rooted T800 10.5, no led light while charging either.

As I see, I would have just said flash.

3 years on I am also experiencing this issue on my Samsung T805 Tab S. (6.0.1). Did anyone fix the issue?

I had the same or simular problem.
After putting in the charge cable one night the flash light turned on and would not go off even when the tablet was shut down.
I tried
- draining the battery completly
- installing flashlight apps
- change to different rom
- Lineage
- Unicorn
- replaced battery
and eventualy had the flash light removed all together.
Now it still works but the battery drains in 2 hours even when off(!)
Strangly the roms also keep looking for a mobile network although its a T800 wich has only have wifi and no lte(hence the drain issue i think)
I never found a good sollution and gave up.
Good luck resolving you problem....

Hi, i have similar issue here. How did you manage to remove LED? Its soldered to motherboard, nor a simple disconecatable component :/

Mine was not solderd.
We just disconnected the cable as I recall.
I asked a repair shop to do it for me.

Try changing the charger or battery it may be occur because of bad charger or battery I also have this problem when I plugged in my galaxy j7 sky pro when I charged it with Samsung charger the flash light turn on but when I try other charger it doesn't happened. Please try and reply if this helpful to you. Thanks.

[Q] Charging problem

I know, a lot of posts about it, but my issue is a little bit different.
First of all my GNex (originally on AOKP but get on stock a couple of days ago) charge normally when powered off.
Not really normally, because the animation of recharge makes a strange loop:
1) full battery with the lightning symbol for about 5 secs
2) charging animation loop, 15-20 seconds
3) black screen for about 5 seconds (it seems to "turn off")
4) back on step 1) and so on
This way i'm able to full charge my battery
When turned on (even after hours of wall charging, stock charger and stock battery btw) it ALWAYS shows 85% of battery.
It cant be charged, by wall charger or a pc/mac cable - AND it can't be seen by Mac/Pc - with debugging turned on of course.
Have i got to assume that is still a hardware issue (i checked the connector position as suggested in a tons of forum - it's perfectly centered and there is a space between the pins and the bottom of the connector)
How is possible it's an hardware issue if is charging while powered off?
Another question. If i unroot it, will the samsung official warranty repair my gnex?
thanks in advance

Yes. Just flash stock again. On your subject, I would just return it. Have you tried replacing the battery?

Yes, a friend's GNEX battery have the same issue (and the wall charger too)
I bring the phone to an assistant service in my town (just for a look about the connector).
The guy told me that it seems ok, for him this is a software issue or maybe an internal hardware
My problem is, how can i unroot my gnex without connecting it to my pc (fastboot doesnt work, tried yesterday)????
cant find a solution for that

I experienced the same thing you're going through bro.. And i can assure you that the problem lies with the software. Here's what i did.. If you are rooted.. reboot to recovery and wipe battery stats.. And see if that works.. If not, i also tried taking the battery out for 5 min. good luck

Galaxy note 2 not charging problems

Hi everyone...hope i have posted this in the right place.
I have a GALAXY note 2 ...uk version which is rooted running tigra rom.
All was fine with it until yesterday, my battery was running low so decided to put it on charge. noticed that it didnt recognise the charger. It now has dead battery and will not charge.
When i plug in the charger, i the grey battery icon with the circle in it. then it goes to the battery icon with the green line at the bottom of the battery like its going to charge, but the just goes off and nothing.
Weird thing is that i can get to my recovery screen and can go through my options on there for however long i want to.
thought it may have been a rom issue, so tried putting another one on it, but just installs to 20% then goes off...
so tried resetting, tried to install new rom. tried holding volume up, home and power keys...etc...
HELP WOULD BE GREATTTT....PLEASE...:crying:
Just had the same problem, samsung sucks
Can anybody suggest any solution?
Just had the same problem..gonna het a new battery..hope it will work...
Hello, I repair phones for a living, and ive been troubled with this for a few days, I did some research and found the S2 had similar problems. I took the note 2 im having the charging issues with and compared to a working board and found the problem quickly. I tried replacing the charging port many times and still had same results, also tried flashing roms.
This is what i came up with, check and see if you have a damaged chip on the board above the charging ribbon connector. I have included pictures to help you locate the issue.

[Q] Battery removed error when plugged in charger.

Hi guys,
I have a brand new GS4 Mini and it's having this really strange issue.
Whenever i plug it into the charger it says "battery removed" and the battery symbol starts blinking.
I've tried a different battery and a different charger (I have multiple GS4 Mini's but it's always the same result).
It's running stock Samsung Android 4.2.2.
Can this be a software issue or is it hardware related?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
I had this issue in my GS2. But when I changed the battery with other one, it was gone
And then, It never happenned when I upgraded phone to 4.1.2

Hi,
I've already changed the battery and the charger, it didn't work.
But strangely when I plugged it into a USB port on my laptop it started charging and afterwards charging from the wall plug also worked.
I've now also updated Android to the latest release from Samsung.
But it's still a strange issue since it's a brand new phone.
I hope it stays working but I can't be sure as I have no idea what was actually causing the issue in the first place.
Thanks for your input.
Regards

Hi, I did clean them but forgot to mention it in the OP, sorry about that.
The battery is working, the error only occurred when the charger was plugged into the phone.
But like I said, it's working now for some odd reason, I'm just trying to understand what caused it to not work before.
Once again thank you for your input.

Phone won't charge, also I think it tries to turn on by itself

Hello!
My phone suddenly stopped charging... and now it is dead... now... like every 3 or 5 minutes, it vibrates by itself, even if unplugged... Anyone heard of this issue?
More info in my last post:
I'm unlocked, rooted, xposed, installed Beanstalk ROM, etc... But I did that months ago (I don't know, 6 months ago?) and it has been working flaglessly, I didnt do ANY change prior to this problem (really, no changes, not even a new appp installed or removed in months)
So I really think it is something in the usb charger.... Maybe I'm wrong and it got bricked somehow... please validate that.
Also, it still vibrating at least once every five minutes. (I woke up all night with it vibrating and now it is on my desk and it still does it)
I just tried an adb wait-for-devices and nothing happens, also tried to reboot it the same way and nothing happens.
Now, I remember that I did something before the phone turned off (battery ran off) I deactivated an Xposed module (latalysm or somethign like that) and didn't reboot it to complete the deactivation. Maybe it has something to do with 0% battery and that?
I really don't think so... But your advice is really welcome.
Thank you in advance.
Did you rooted or unlocked?

You are bricked .
Check unbricking threads...

New data:
When I pluggin the phone to the PC, the PC plays the "hardware detection sound" but then it disconnects too. Maybe it has something to do with the battery or something related?
Thank you in advance, phone is still dead.
Mario.
Well... my phone is now even more dead... I think the problem is the battery, even if I try to charge it doesn't even get warm, I replaced the usb piece of the phone expecting that it was something with that but no... Now I'm waiting to get a replacement battery.
Anyone heard of the same issue? I've found many people having the same issue, but most of them solved the problem unplugging the battery and then plugging it back again.
Please help!
Regards.

I have exactly the same problem. It's like the phone is not charging at all. Have you tried taking the battery out and then in?
Small update: I've tried 4 different chargers and god knows how many different cables, tried connecting it to the PC, nothing seems to help.

Yes I tried that 2 months ago... But yesterday... I arrived home and tried to charge again, waited about 2 hours, turned it in and pop... I have the phone again (I keep losing phone and data signal, but... come on, it is on now)... So I don't know... I heard many times that pluging in and off the battery and "waiting" seemed to work for a lot of people, but come on... 2 months?
Regards.

Wow... so the problem is not the battery... then it is really weird, how can just "waiting" be the solution?
Hugo, how long have you been with your phone turned off?
One month, the time to receive the new battery

That is a lot... I waited 2 months... sorry I don't know anything about the matter... but don't lose faith, maybe it will turn on again someday.... Advice, charge it and leave it charging for... a week? then try again.
I've decided to fiddle with a needle inside the USB charging port recently. After that my phone suddenly was recognised by the computer and started charging and working. After I connect it to the real charger, doesn't matter if it's original or not, it stops working and doesn't even charge from the PC. Then I have to fiddle inside the charging port and everything works again... wtf really? what can be dead?

I'm not so sure... It sound's more like I'm either grounding some contacts or I'm somehow short circuiting something. Maybe it could be a broken capacitor or something? That would explain why your phone started working after 2 month.
Well in any case it would be interesting íf somebody with that issue would try touching the contacts in the USB port with metal needle and connect the phone to the PC.
I've ordered a new USB thingy already and going to swap it soon, I'll keep you updated.
I have try to change the battery and the usb port. The battery work one time but won't charge. Can't say if it is the same issue or because is is a cheap battery
Any news NiKiToS?

Help phone wont charge, stuck on red battery

So my zenfone 2 is rooted and today it ran out of battery. I put it on charger, there is no LED indicator lighting but ok, i thought it´s charging, so in few minutes i tried to power my device on, but i got only that low battery screen and it turn off after few seconds. I can get to this low battery screen even without charger, but it´s same. When i press power button in this low battery screen i get that bolt there, like it´s charging for a second but then it turn off. I also can´t get to recovery mode, even when i try it on that screen, it shows white battery with question mark. When i try it from turned off mobile, nothing happens. Please help me. Sorry for my bad english. Im sure that charger is OK because it works with other stuff and when i plug the mobile into pc, it´s just same, nothing. I have TWRP recovery btw.
Seems that you are having my same problem (http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/phone-wont-charge-tries-to-t3426130), but you can see the charging screen. Does your phone get hot while charging? Mine doesn't (so it is not charging) I bought the usb chargning module, hoping that it will arrive soon if that is the problem.
Regards.
