From what I can tell, Samsung has not yet released a theme maker. The only thing they have for making themes is only compatible with a few chinese phones (http://developer.samsung.com/galaxy#mytheme). I read an article somewhere saying that the theme maker should be available at some point this month.
So how were the ones in the store now made? There's a bunch that weren't made by Samsung.

... I have neither the XDA1 or 2, I have the 2i (which is technically a different model, right?)... But there are many other forum users who have a totally different model oF XDA, specifically the smartphones or the later models, JasJar, the other one which is going on the market soon... Can't remember the name - just a small point of keeping the forum current really, has someone forgotten to add more choices of phone to the user profile page, or is it a limitation with the mod which is being used?
More curious than anything else...
Windows Market place open!
uuuuurm what ???
theres a market place ???
where ???
link ???
maybe a really stupid question but - where is it- where do I have to go or do to get in it??
read about it at www.engadget.com and I was really excited about it, hope that there will be something for Touch HD !!!
try this http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/catalog/cataloghome.aspx
hmm, I hope things improve, because currently that site just makes me think the exact same thing as Bing: "Google just works better"
Hi
This market is not only too late, but also ridiculous.
with friendly greet

wow that just sucks as an attempt for a market place, they had better improve that - most of the stuff you can get using good old google - why use that?
it would also be better if it had a phone version of it as well so that we could download the stuff direct to our phone - dont make it like a website make it like the android market that thing is a million times better than this!!!
Just logged into marketplace and it says coming soon, where are you guys getting this info from?
Useless! Google is all we need: with it you could find new app but very old (and sometime more usefull) too.
D'rath
and now im officially un-impressed, lol
I was honestly hoping they were new applications, made for new windows mobile and made with new standards. Not the same old crap we already have.
Marketplace is not open
Here Is the Link : -

Coming Soon
The market place has been there for a long time. I've uesed it once or twice in different forms over the last few years... the site we are waiting for is not available yet... as far as I can tell.
As Stated Previously
this is the site
http://client.marketplace.windowsmobile.com/
The actual mobile marketplace I think is actually http://client.marketplace.windowsmobile.com/ (which is "coming soon").
The REAL marketplace is still "coming soon"
The other link posted on page one IS NOT the marketplace, its just a showcase site for apps that links to other sites where you can buy.
This time around Microsoft is doing it right and going for an Apple style appstore.
Once again something comes along before Microsoft think of it and they make an half ass attempt at it quickly just to get it out!! (Obviously I know its not actually out just yet)
Doesnt anyone think it a little bit odd that the link to marketplace in the leaked build says "windowsmobile" ?
Especially as MS are so desperate to rebrand our beloved devices as "windowsphone"
fwiw also look at what the bootstrap triggers in marketplace app.
Looks suspiciously like a date to me..
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Security\Software\Microsoft\Marketplace]
"BootStrapInstalledPath"="\\Windows\\WMMBootstrap.exe"
"WebServiceUpdateServer"="https://client.marketplace.windowsmobile.com/bootstrap/02/2009"
"DownloadLocation"="\\Windows\\WMMarketplace.cab"
"MarketInstallLocation"="\\Windows\\WMMarketplace.exe"
Anyone ever seen anything different?
Wow, if you're planning to beat Appstore, at least pretend like you're trying to improve their formula.
No information on resolution, handset compatibility, pricing info for a start.
It's one of the many pages on available software and not even a good one. Plus the mobile version is not even online.

I was wondering if anyone knows if it will be possible to have all the OEM marketplaces on a given phone so we can make our choices based on hardware \ network availability (going for AWS which has fewer devices) and enjoy all the niceties such as HTC's dialer and LG's voice as SIP applications?
Thanks!
OEM's are not allowed to modify the Dialer or SIP. Carriers can have their own section on the marketplace for their phones. I know AT&T has one but haven't heard if any others do or will.

they don't have their own marketplace, but MS has allowed for manufacturers and carriers to have their own section within the marketplace. The idea is that companies such as LG can get exclusive content to help them push their phones. This also means that those with an LG phone will still be able to access the general market place, which is a great idea.
Let me draw a comparison... I've heard that Amazon are looking into starting their own market place for Android, meaning that all phones sold through Amazon will have the Amazon market place instead of Google's. What does this mean? Only apps submitted to the Amazon market place will come up on those phones, not the ones in Google's. This is the downfall of separate market places is that developers have to spend more time making sure their applications meet all the different market place conditions, unlike WP where they submit to one place, but don't neglect individuality for the manufacturers/carriers.
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Thank you, this is quite a good clarification!
So do you know if it will be possible to get into the marketplace sections from other companies so we can get the special programs? Or will I actually have to make a choice (Also there is a lack of Samsung and LG phones for T-mobile\windmobile\mobilicity )
most likely if you can't find it in the general market place, but you know a particular manufacturer has made it, it's because they have access to some of the phone's features which we as general developers do not yet (as in the Silverlight APIs haven't been created for them yet). Give it time and apps of that type will become available and all the exclusiveness should hopefully be redundant.
I have purchased four tablets in the last month and returned all of them based on the lack of a general information placed in one spot on this forum, I put a lot of trust in xda the members and the developers here.
There will be over 30 new Tablet devices (worthy of talking about) this spring and summer, and I am sure there is a place here for such subcategory.
As usuall thanks for your consideration.
Wait - did I read this right... You returned tablets on the basis that you couldnt find info on them in one spot here?
What manf/models, if you dont mind my asking.
Did you find something lacking in the Hardware / OS?
Or just that you didnt think there was enough community support?

Don't get the wrong idea I'm not bashing xda, I love xda, My thought is that if there was some general discussion going on around here from our respected peers, I may have not bought some of the Tabs that I did... the huwaei sucked, the elocity doesn't get a whole lot of support (not sure why) the viewsonic gtab got me when I saw Calkuin on there, which was the best tab I tried, just didn't care for the 10" tab.
I think xda will be the new home of tab support...
I also am not sure about all of the models supported on here, as they are scattered all over the place because there is no place specifically for tabs to compare one against the other...

Either they are way too girly! Or they have a decent scheme but crappy icons lol. Jeez.
And why do you have to be a developer, and a developer that has to be vetted by Samsung. I'd just like to be able to make my own themes because I'm a customer, and a customer that is vetted by Samsung since I actually paid them for an S6.
I keep looking at the themes every day waiting for the Material Design dark theme from 'cambunch' here on XDA to arrive since I'm not rooted.
I've actually requested to become a theme designer for the theme store the choices where so bad. They turned me down though.
