No it completely ducks. I know the device just came out but I thought what the heck who knows maybe someone knows a workaround or a short that doesn't require a computer. Thanks for responding to my question.I will keep my fingers crossed just maybe I will get lucky. Lol

Coming up or using an exploit on this phone to root it without unlocking it is useless, it takes hours, days, or even months to find those exploits. Also once an exploit is released it will be patched soon after, so the ones who find these exploits usually save them, and since you can just unlock it online no one is going to waste an exploit on this device.

No root on ginger

I am no expert but if it hasn't happened after this long will it ever happen? If someone could explain the process to obtain s off that would be great. Why is it taking so long?

Its taking long as we haven't found an exploit for Gingerbread temp-root, after we have that we can work on perm root.

well for the sensation evo 3d...there is no word on if/when it will come to verizon htc phones
and we would need a new update from htc/vzw to allow for the use of the unlock tool
fwiw its clear that they are working on 2.3.4 for the inc2
Also I guarantee they will have a way to know you used their tool and will automatically void your warranty. Not worth it.

I always assumed my warranty was gone when I rooted mine. It's insured even though I am careful with my stuff and have never needed it. If something should go wrong it might fall off the boat though.

As long as it doesnt have root on it when Verizon gets their hands on it your warranty is still good.

it depends on the conditions associated with it...i highly doubt it would violate the entire warranty, specifically as how it relates to hardware issues...however id forget ever trying to return a software bricked phone

That was made public knowledge Sunday night when HTC outlined the unlock procedure. In order to use the unlock service, you will need to acknowledge that unlocking the phone may void your warranty.

Not without unlock currently. Which, if you were unlocked i would assume you'd have already rooted. Sad to say there isn't anything for those that didn't get the unlock while it was available on day 1.

and I totally understand. But there are like 8 threads about root, and they all have the same answer right now, and theres even a donations thread and someone who you can pay to s-off your phone.
It's getting a little nuts with these new root threads when the answer is - no, you can't root (well, bootloader unlock) right now. I mean it's literally on the front pages of the forum for this device.

If you don't want to pay 40 then rooting is your only way. Also rooting is EASY.. takes 5 mins and then just install the region lock away app from playstore (costs 4 bucks ithink) or you can download that app from xda for free. Then simply UNROOT your phone and you're good to go.

IF I want to root it to unlock the SIM...can I still get OTA updates? I don't care to keep it rooted...will it revert back to unroot?
Cuz,
You can root, poot, or toot that won't remove the sim unlock!
I have heard the Chain fire will sim unlock but it did not do my tmobile.
I had to pay for a Sim unlock code... I used FastGSM it worked 1st try.
Anyway... Good Luck wid dat..
1st up is... sim unlock & rooting is two different processes.

Really? IT didn't unlock the t-mobile? That's strange..I wonder why some say it did and other don't? So if I root it, does it still do OTA update if I don't install anything else? And does it get unrooted after update? How about unrooting? Does unrooting avoid them know it was ever rooted if I ever need to send for warranty?
Thanks
Most of the time unless you have really borked up things...rooting does not cause phones to go bad, although they may contribute...
Rooting.. Usually stops OTA updates...
Usually once you Unroot the phone can be put back into its original state..
Theres many kinds of unlock... Im no expert, but sim unlock is a lock from the carrier to disallow other sims... that's different from using in other areas that would be region lock..
Not to say it did not happened it makes adjustments to the modem and maybe the older modem or firmware could be persuaded to unlock but not the latest modem...
Hope all that makes sense!

Can't u just unlock it with apps like galaxysim unlock?
also there are many posts about unlocking your phone on the forums u can DIY at home with just a couple of softwares and apps, all u need is to type unlock note 2 in search and follow the procedure under u're respective model number's forum
as for site I ain't so sure as I just use galaxysim unlock and i'm rooted but I don't think it needs root to be installed.Just await confirmation on that part from one of the others members and see what they suggest
Thanks for the feedback @aradhaya10 i found a couple of ways to do it for free but they all seem to have little risks. I may just try what you did. Im just looking for feedback because I've never really used any other method other than paying someone for a code.

There is a thread for unlocking galaxy s3 gsm, the same method applies for the galaxy note 2, you will and might have to roll back to earlier version of android, I think 4.1.1 but I forgot which baseband was successful, find that thread and you'll be golden. Root discussion(Think tank)

It's still early and I have a feeling it will take a while until we have some form of root (if at all), but where should we start? I personally do not know the first place to start, but if anyone out there has any ideas, feel free to discuss them here.
I would like to make a bounty, but it seems like the trend has been a purchase is required to get root.

Do we even know if any of the normal parties will be working on root for the dt2?

We are not on this list or the turbo before us so that's not gonna happen
Anyone know if Wondershare will root it? I've rooted my tablets with that one click root process before, but not with my DT2 yet. I have my DT2, but not sure why I'd root when there is no development for it yet. btw my DT1 with LP wouldn't root with Wondershare.

The Link is useless as are the Moto chat employees.
They left me realizing the unlock and root may be WAAAY down the road.
I root for the good apps as Verizon talked me out of my unlimited data. where is titanium????
The hotspot app of theirs (V's) does work out of the box. it just eats Data.... Ive been mad for a year over my decision. I MAY refuse the box in the morning just over Moto's shenanigans on not letting me unlock a $700 phone I paid for direct. FOOLS...

So you either don't have unlimited data or are paying the extra $30 a month for the feature.

Again, mobile hotspot doesn't work if you have unlimited data. Since it took about 6 months for the original Turbo to get mofo root, I have a feeling it's gonna take just as long, if ever. They still haven't found a way to write to the system within an image.
It's a shame, they got you good with getting you on a tiered line, and of course they're gonna give free mobile hotspot to tiered users for that exact reason that it eats up data. It gives you a greater chance of going over your data cap, therefore, putting more money into Verizon's greedy little pockets.
I usually average around 75GB a month, so there's no way I will EVER voluntarily give up my unlimited data. They're gonna have to pry it from my cold, dead hands before I ever give up my unlimited data.
