M9? - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I figured this would be the perfect place to post this. I'm desperately wanting a new phone that is unlockable. I am on the Note 3 and I just miss having an unlocked phone which is why I don't want the Note 4. I'm looking at the M9 and the soon to be released G4. In the honest opinion of the people who own the phone, what would you guys recommend? What are the strong and weak points of the M9?

Everyone still happy with their One X ?

With newer phones out like Samsung's Galaxy S3 and Note II, and the new One X+, and upcoming LG Nexus 4, and new Nokia Windows 8 Phone.
Are you still happy with your One X ? Or do you feel its outdated or behind the times already ?
For me, running CM10 ROM, I find this phone amazing still, and top of the line. The screen is still a reference benchmark, when newer phones are reviewed, the One X screen is always discussed with newer phones, that days a lot to me.
Opinion ?

It's great, but I'll still want a Nexus 4
absolutely...still waiting for JB update though...
Reason I ask, is because my Wife and I nerd one more unlocked phone to finally leave Verizon, we live in the States ( Chicago ). I wanna go prepaid plan, no commitment, no contract, and will save big $$ each month too. I bought the international One X in white off eBay and love it. Now need one more phone.
Was either thinking another international One X off eBay, or wait to see the official price on the LG Nexus 4 ? If the Nexus 4 is close in price to a used unlocked One X then I will go Nexus 4. Or I cooks get the current GSM Galaxy Nexus brand new for $349, I already have the Verizon Nexus, but it won't work on new plan we moving too, and the battery life blows on this Verizon Nexus.
What would you recommend ?

I'm getting a Nexus 4, for that price it's stupid not to!
Not happy at all, still haven't managed to replace it after it suffered from the wifi antenna issue. Stupid HTC, never buying from those people again.
I was. But today has hit me twice. One 3 say no JB update till the middle of November and Two , Just look at that Nexus 4 ,,One x on ebay tonight I think

I had that issue, after reading others dealings with the repair centres i popped it apart and tweaked it myself, that was 4-5 months ago... been perfect since. Glad i did.

Which phone to buy??

Should I get the
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2
- Samsung Galaxy S 3
or
Wait for Galaxy note 3.. or wait for Galaxy S4 ?
I'm not sure when the GN3 and GS4 are coming out.. so I dont know if I even should wait.
I really need and want a phone right now as my other android phone's screen is pretty cracked.
I dont mind the size.. so Idk which one I should get..
Does the Note2 have as much development as the SGS3? I'm into the whole dev kinda thing.. im not here to buy a phone to keep it stock.
-----> I will thank everyone's posts <-------
The Galaxy S4 won't be out for at least several months and the Note 2 is only a couple of months old, so the Note 3 is a way off yet.
As far as development goes, check out the development section of the Note 2 forum, it's very active. Having said that, the stock software on the Note 2 is pretty good, especially if you want to take advantage of the S-Pen.

Thank you.
Anyone else?
I will Thank everyone who answers me
I am in the same shoes as you... Almost. I currently have an S3 and just bought the Note 2 also. I am contemplating if I should keep the Note 2 and sell the S3 or just return the Note 2 and preserve my upgrade for the S4 or N3.
I don't know why you would want one or the other but let me tell you what motivates me. I want the Fastest phone, best battery life. The Note 2 does that. The thing I didn't count on was actually coming to a conclusion that a 5.5 inch screen wasn't too big.
So it depends what floats your boat.

If I do sell one it will be the S3 and it will be in the next 3 days most likely. My 14 days is up on the Note on Saturday so I have to make a decision by then. I will pm you if I decide to sell the S3.

I had a S2 first before i bought my new note2, all in all it depend on what you wish for. We can answer or decide for you which is better. Thing that you have too keep in mind and ask your self are. 1. Will you be confortable having a big phone?, if not a S3 seems perfectly. My case , everybody seems to have a laugh at my big phone, some like it a lot, others find it just too much. But when i put on a show with it, they are like damnnnn.
The only problem with the note is when you have it, you most likely never would go back to a smaller phone again.you will feel strange having a S3, or 2 in hand.
im coming from the s3 which is a great phone but you wont regret note 2 bro its AWESOME:highfive::highfive:
Got both and whole heartedly recommend the Note 2
Go for the note 2 !! you wont regret it :good::good::good:
Coming from my s2 which is still very good. The galaxy note 2 is amazing an makes my old phone look slow. Better battery life faster in all aspects download ing etc. Once u use one u won't want to swap. Big or not it still the best phablet on the market.

Just gone from the desire hd to the note 2. Wouldnt ever go back to a smaller screened phone again. Even the girlfriends S3 looks tiny compared to the note 2 but after a few days you get so used to it, you couldnt use anything smaller. The iphone looks miniscule compared aswell. Have to laugh everytime I see one

[Q] If you Had to upgrade right now....

And money wasn't an issue, what would it be and why?
Wait for the Note 3. I like a big ass full HD screen and the specs are gonna be monstreous.
I'm probably going to jump on the Note3, I am due for an upgrade around Sep.

I don't like too big screens for a phone, so I would go for an SGS4, kinda ironic isn't it ?
Iam also due for an upgrade around september, by then, many phones will be released....
If my GNex suddenly died on me, I'd pop my sim in my XPlay. Why?
I hate 5" phones, so that takes care of the S4 and the Xperia Z line (a shame cause I love the Z otherwise). The Note line is even worse for that. The HTC One is a beautiful phone with some great features and a good size..but you know it's locked down like area 51 because it's an HTC. Nexus 4 is tempting, but LCD screen, 720p screen(what with all the 1080 now), and it's LGness steer me away.
So in short, no new bleeding edge phone right now is tempting. Hopefully the X phone, or Nexus 5 or whatever doesn't go all 5 inch on us, and get's a 1080p SAMOLED (4.7" ideally)
My upgrade is also in September and a bunch of new phones will be out by then, but at the moment the only phone I would upgrade to would be the GS4.

Samsung may be locked down on AT&T and Verizon. The S3 was locked on Verizon and AT&T is just as evil about locking phones so the same will probably happen there.

After owning a nexus, I can only replace it with another nexus. So probably nexus 4 if I REALLY needed a phone but otherwise I'd wait for the new one to come out.
On Verizon, with no nexus, I'd probably have to say RAZR m.

The s3 was at launch. Remember the developer edition? Did Samsung actually unlock bootloaders on later s3s for Verizon? If so I'm mistaken.

I'm leaning towards the DROID dna..
I was actually able to upgrade back in February. There's no phone out right now that I really want to shell out the money for. The Xperia Z looks very nice, but no radios for 4G service here in the US as far as I know. As long as my GNex hangs in there, I'll probably wait at least a few more months before I consider upgrading. Possibly even until the big releases over the holiday season.

No they didn't. An insecure bootloader was leaked.
Note II, there was an exploit to flash an insecure bootloader as well.
As for both phones factory? The S3 came with a signed boot partition. Note II came with locked bootloader though.

I would wait for Motorolla X Phone with big Battery and ~4.3 inch screen.
Nexus 4, because its a nexus. Nuff' said.
But as long as my G'nex keeps going I don't plan on moving up for about another year.

if my verizon Gnex died today, i would probably ditch verizon and jump over to a nexus 4. the specs are good enough where i wont have phone envy any time soon. the size is just about right as i think the 5" phones are a little too big for me.
and there is just SOMETHING about stock android that i just love.
today? Nexus 4, specs are awesome for me and the price is just great!
Im planning on staying with Verizon, and I want to upgrade right now lol.
Went to the store today and played with the DNA and S3 and both were amazing. DNA is 200 and S3 is 100 bucks..
I love the way to DNA looks and feels, and i like sense. But currently there isnt any root for it, i don't think.
The S3 has a better camera, dual core, but its not even close to the benchmark scores to the DNA
DNA's benchmark was over 8k, S3 was at 3.k and my nexus, 1.7k.
WHAT DO I DO!?
Wait 2 weeks for s4 but it won't have Aosp. I said I wanted the one but the voice of reason (my brother) knows I love aosp so he is encouraging me to wait for cm.

Have fun. Its one laggy device if you put it beside the Nexus 5 so don't bother comparing with the Nexus 5. You are gonna regret if you do so. Compared to the Galaxy Nexus its generations ahead though

Laggy device? I would hardly go that far...I played with a 5 for a day or so and a g2 note 3 and a few others, as much as I love nexus devices the note 3 and the 5 are neck and neck..kitkat does add some fluidity to the 5 but in no way shape or form does it blow the note 3 out of the water..

TouchWiz devices usually start to lag after a new flagship comes out (the old one will be updated with a newer system but the features will quickly bog the phone down), e.g. Galaxy S3 with Android 4.2 and 4.3.

I moved on from my Sprint Galaxy Nexus to a Nexus 5, I'm on T-Mobile now.
By the way, to anyone wondering which phone they should get?
Nothing compares to the Nexus 5.
Switching to T-Mobile and getting a Nexus 5 after work today. I can't wait.
I would love to switch to a Nexus 5 on T-Mobile. But from what I hear from other T-Mobile users in my area is the network coverage sucks. The people I work with have to go outside to make a call.

According to the coverage map, my area is pretty good. But isn't T-mobile going through some stuff to boost their network? I thought there was some news about them buying towers or something from Verizon. I can't remember. It can't be any worse than AT&T was in my area when I was on that.

Well it depends on your setup and eyes. But simple things like flicking around the home screen, scrolling in widgets lag on the note 3 but not on the nexus 5 if you put them side by side.
Then again the note 3 I seen might be a different variant from yours, which also probably comes with a different regional software too.

I'm still considering this one myself, did it take you a long time to get used to the extra device width? I'm thinking it might put quite a bit of extra strain on your thumb when using it single-handed.

I have no issues with it. I like how it feels. But if that's something you may have an issue with, I'd suggest going into a store where they have it on display and check it out in person.

Battery life is fine for me. Compared to the galaxy nexus, its a lot better. I can get through a whole day easily with the Nexus 5. Something I couldn't do with the gnex. Everyone's going to have a different experience though.

well sorry. but people have been talking about it. however if you look at the forums you would know that att and verizon version of the note 4 has a locked boot loader which prevents rooting. so unless you have the t mobile note 4 right now you are stuck on a stock phone hope you enjoy it more then the one plus
