Should I get the
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2
- Samsung Galaxy S 3
or
Wait for Galaxy note 3.. or wait for Galaxy S4 ?
I'm not sure when the GN3 and GS4 are coming out.. so I dont know if I even should wait.
I really need and want a phone right now as my other android phone's screen is pretty cracked.
I dont mind the size.. so Idk which one I should get..
Does the Note2 have as much development as the SGS3? I'm into the whole dev kinda thing.. im not here to buy a phone to keep it stock.
-----> I will thank everyone's posts <-------
The Galaxy S4 won't be out for at least several months and the Note 2 is only a couple of months old, so the Note 3 is a way off yet.
As far as development goes, check out the development section of the Note 2 forum, it's very active. Having said that, the stock software on the Note 2 is pretty good, especially if you want to take advantage of the S-Pen.

Thank you.
Anyone else?
I will Thank everyone who answers me
I am in the same shoes as you... Almost. I currently have an S3 and just bought the Note 2 also. I am contemplating if I should keep the Note 2 and sell the S3 or just return the Note 2 and preserve my upgrade for the S4 or N3.
I don't know why you would want one or the other but let me tell you what motivates me. I want the Fastest phone, best battery life. The Note 2 does that. The thing I didn't count on was actually coming to a conclusion that a 5.5 inch screen wasn't too big.
So it depends what floats your boat.

Cool thanks.
Let me know in the future if you decide to sell either one. I might be interested.

If I do sell one it will be the S3 and it will be in the next 3 days most likely. My 14 days is up on the Note on Saturday so I have to make a decision by then. I will pm you if I decide to sell the S3.

I had a S2 first before i bought my new note2, all in all it depend on what you wish for. We can answer or decide for you which is better. Thing that you have too keep in mind and ask your self are. 1. Will you be confortable having a big phone?, if not a S3 seems perfectly. My case , everybody seems to have a laugh at my big phone, some like it a lot, others find it just too much. But when i put on a show with it, they are like damnnnn.
The only problem with the note is when you have it, you most likely never would go back to a smaller phone again.you will feel strange having a S3, or 2 in hand.
im coming from the s3 which is a great phone but you wont regret note 2 bro its AWESOME:highfive::highfive:
Got both and whole heartedly recommend the Note 2
Go for the note 2 !! you wont regret it :good::good::good:
Coming from my s2 which is still very good. The galaxy note 2 is amazing an makes my old phone look slow. Better battery life faster in all aspects download ing etc. Once u use one u won't want to swap. Big or not it still the best phablet on the market.

Just gone from the desire hd to the note 2. Wouldnt ever go back to a smaller screened phone again. Even the girlfriends S3 looks tiny compared to the note 2 but after a few days you get so used to it, you couldnt use anything smaller. The iphone looks miniscule compared aswell. Have to laugh everytime I see one

this phone is seriously ridiculously amazing. far exceeded my expectations (i've only had it for 2 days and im in love) by far the best phone i've ever had. it's buttery smooth which to me was my only issue with past android phones. no lag whatsoever and the display is beautiful.
It was a tough decision to move from pure Google to the note 2. But reading reviews and having multi windows open sealed the deal. Anybody else leave galaxy nexus for this phone?

Never mind I read that question wrong lol
Usually people don't leave stock Android if they like that. But if you enjoy that layout of the stock Android home and app drawer, then you can download the Nova Launcher (you can even get the stock icons instead of the ugly TouchWiz icons). I came from a CM ROM back to stock and needed that look. However, there is sooo many more features in touchwiz that are nice.
But especially with the development section, you should have no problem getting an AOSP ROM if that's what you prefer in the future.

I hear the Note 4 will be awesome. Why not wait for it? There will always be a better phone on the horizon.
You could just buy the Note2 now, sell it as soon as the Note3 comes out and you will have most of the Note3 paid for.
Lol at the sarcasm. Umm I recently got it and love every bit of it, and don't see any chance of regretting in the futures. I tend to regret if there are issues or anything I am unhappy with, but NONE so far

You never going to get anywhere playing the "waiting game" with Android.. most def with HTC.. HTC One X, V,S den One X+ and now a Droid DNA, HTC J Butterfly.. and a rumored HTC Deluxe aka GSM DNA
Its always going to be a better phone than the current version..
Lets say you wait another year... and the Note 3 doesn't have what you expected..

Get the Note 2. When you get bored, then get the Note 3. :victory:
if they do a note III. There might be something completely different in 12 months!
my personal opinion would be get note 2 now.
because its still new, holds value pretty well, but once we are in 2013, i would consider S4.
to be honest I change phone roughly every 2 years, and I just get the one that I will be happy with, that's future proof ish (eg. LTE) for 2 years.
Note 6 is the best! Full 1080p 3D screen, and the screen is FOLDABLE!
I'd wait!

Impressive trolling.
Do your research, make your mind up and stop expecting to be spoonfed. You give no info as to what your needs are, hence any advice from others is almost as pointless as your question.
This is a dev forum, not halp-me-no-know-wot-I-want-me-5-years-old.com.

Yes order the note 3 here,

Good luck & hope they make a good job of making it
i heard about the note 20 , it will include features such as teleportation, transoformation with a hit of a button, 100000mah battery 10 inch screen multiple quad cores in one and many other impressive features
Quad cores? Man who is your source? It has kilo-cores : 1024 cores

The Note2 is the best phone available today. I have used mine extensively for work and play, lots of travel and there is nothing that compares. My wife has an iPhne and my old GS2, and they both look like dinosaurs.

Hey guys I'm getting a new device in a few months. And my choice is weather the nexus 4 or the galaxy s4. So I'm wondering would you reccomend the s4 and if possible tell me some of the features you like about it. Even though I'll be building/flashing custom ROMs/kernel on what ever device I get I would still like to know some of the features you guys like so I can decide on which device to get

Tough to answer right now, in the next few months a few more new phones should be out. The Note 3, the nexus 5, the Moto X, maybe the LG G2, who knows what else...
Today? If your looking for the most powerful device in TMo's current lineup, price be damned, then the S4. If your on a budget, the Nexus 4 is just fine.
Note 3. I'll be getting it when it comes out and keeping my s4

Price doesn't matter much. Because my dad told me if I get good grade after my first trimester back at school he will buy me any phone I want. Since every one else in my family upgraded and I'm stuck with my olld sgs vibrant. And if the new nexus is out by then than I'll problebly get that bit I've been lookin at the s4 and the n4

S4 because it can be a higher powered nexus device if you want it to me. I converted my s4 to a s4 Google play edition and I'm on 4.3 and will get updates just as nexus devices do...

Have fun. Its one laggy device if you put it beside the Nexus 5 so don't bother comparing with the Nexus 5. You are gonna regret if you do so. Compared to the Galaxy Nexus its generations ahead though

Laggy device? I would hardly go that far...I played with a 5 for a day or so and a g2 note 3 and a few others, as much as I love nexus devices the note 3 and the 5 are neck and neck..kitkat does add some fluidity to the 5 but in no way shape or form does it blow the note 3 out of the water..

TouchWiz devices usually start to lag after a new flagship comes out (the old one will be updated with a newer system but the features will quickly bog the phone down), e.g. Galaxy S3 with Android 4.2 and 4.3.

I moved on from my Sprint Galaxy Nexus to a Nexus 5, I'm on T-Mobile now.
By the way, to anyone wondering which phone they should get?
Nothing compares to the Nexus 5.
Switching to T-Mobile and getting a Nexus 5 after work today. I can't wait.
I would love to switch to a Nexus 5 on T-Mobile. But from what I hear from other T-Mobile users in my area is the network coverage sucks. The people I work with have to go outside to make a call.

According to the coverage map, my area is pretty good. But isn't T-mobile going through some stuff to boost their network? I thought there was some news about them buying towers or something from Verizon. I can't remember. It can't be any worse than AT&T was in my area when I was on that.

Well it depends on your setup and eyes. But simple things like flicking around the home screen, scrolling in widgets lag on the note 3 but not on the nexus 5 if you put them side by side.
Then again the note 3 I seen might be a different variant from yours, which also probably comes with a different regional software too.

I'm still considering this one myself, did it take you a long time to get used to the extra device width? I'm thinking it might put quite a bit of extra strain on your thumb when using it single-handed.

I have no issues with it. I like how it feels. But if that's something you may have an issue with, I'd suggest going into a store where they have it on display and check it out in person.

How is the battery life, in your experience? Since I have the extended battery it's been really difficult to let it go but would it make a super big difference?

Battery life is fine for me. Compared to the galaxy nexus, its a lot better. I can get through a whole day easily with the Nexus 5. Something I couldn't do with the gnex. Everyone's going to have a different experience though.
