anyone else experience slow network speeds ? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

I came from a nexus 5 to the edge. Ran speed test in the same spot of my house I usually spend my time , and I always ran about 15-18 MB download on 3g/hspa+ on the n5. On the edge I get about 5 on 3g/HSPA+ and forget about LTE.. It was below 1mb... On the n5 I got about 15mb but the signal was less than just 3g hspa. Worked for.me cause it was faster and saved me battery. Anyone else experience the drop in speed coming from a different phone ?

I'm experiencing these slow network speeds I'm coming from an s4 and I was getting well above 20mb now I'm not even getting 1mb on lte. I thought it was just my phone

I wonder what it could be ? Maybe old radios ?

Im on ATT getting really low speeds too, even on wifi. I think my (Spigen Neo Hybrid) case was interfering because once i took it off it got a little better.

T-Mobile 3G Users Welcome to HSPA 7.2 Mbps

So anybody who gets T-Mobile 3G now is able to take advantage of The new upgraded HSPA 7.2Mbps 3.5G network. Phone that are able to take advantage of this are the HTC G1, HTC MyTouch, HTC Dash 3G, HTC Touch Pro 2, Samsung Behold 2,and I believe the Blackberry 9700.
Check your speed using you phone browser at www.mobilespeedtest.com
Here is my speed in Miami, Fl.
Must not be in every market. 3g In phoenix seems to top out around 250kbps...at least right now.
Should in all 3G markets. It might be rolling out to different cities throughout the day.
http://www.tmonews.com/2010/01/t-mobile-officially-upgrades-to-hspa-7-2mbps/
Also try doing the 1Mb or larger test.
Yeah you're probably right. I'll just keep checking through the day. These speeds will nearly make the fee for 3g worth it.
Mine is 541kps, is that good? lol Have no idea about phone speeds.
The way ISPs advertise speeds is in bits. When we download is its bytes. So 7.2MBPS should be equilvalent to 7200 / 8 = 900 Kbytes a sec. So 900kbps should be max on our phones which is in between dsl and cable modem speeds. This is of course on the Tmobile Network. The fastest I got on my Tmobile TP2 was 800kbps full 3G bars.
I'm in the Tampa Bay area with full 3g bars. I did the 1MB test and got 717kb's per second. Not sure how to tell if I improved from before tmobile "upgraded" to hspa

i have 727.273 with about 2 bars..is that good?

Me too, just about the same, which is an upgrade at least 50% from before. I can't wait to try it out at work tomorrow with a full signal!!!
1774kbps in phoenix right now...pretty decent...
I have always used :
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1&more=1
However the site posted here gives me much better results, so I think I prefer it. Bit odd though.
Ok guys. When you test it out it gives yous the small download test. You need to retest at 2Mb or higher to see the real speed. I used the 7Mb test to test my connection and was consistently getting 6500Kbps - 7000Kbps
I noticed quite a difference between Opera and Opera 10 Beta. What's the most accurate browser to use?
To get a "true" test I use Internet Explorer
Too bad all this speed won't mean **** because our CPU is slow. You will only take advantage of these speeds when you tether to your computer.
Not sure the test is reliable, got so many reading on my end. 700+kps, sometimes 25kps (huh????) sometime 650++, etc.
I've tried 3 times using dslreports simple mobile test. 1MB and got
~700kb
~800kb
~900kb

Yeah I'm now getting all over this range.
I am unable to test with PIE for some reason though. Just hangs at "running test"

Sluggish 3G Puerto Rico

Anyone experiencing slow 3G speeds, specially in the San Juan area?
3G speed in sprint here are pretty unstable (Mayaguez-Cabo Rojo) yesterday i got 1.2 Mb dwn and 680 kb up but the is just one time. My average connection home is 200kb and 500kb, it really sucks...hope they work on that
how slow? I know I've also noticed it, getting anywhere from 200kbps to maybe topping out at 600kbps in Bayamon.

I am around the same speed u get. It has been really bad like that lately. My average connection is 200kbs...just like you
I don't now what's happening with the network lately, I used to average over 700kbps not so long ago, maybe 4 months ago...
Have you tried calling Sprint?
yup, and also tried changing the Home Agent addresses

speed

just curious what everyone gets as far as tmobile speed? As i just came from at&t which i was getting great speeds of 2-3 megabits. i switched to tmobile and my speeds suck in 3g areas(note HSPA+ is not available here yet) I dont really get the H signal much which sucks when it does get rolled out in my area. I am curious thos when it does will i see increase in my 3g speeds even? also what kind of speeds are you all getting?
i am currently in 3g/h never gotten more than 512-600 kilobits....
like i said i just came from at&t nexus one and man these speeds are reallly killing me i like the phone but just dont think i can handle these low speeds! will i see an increase even in 3g areas when it is rolled out? and what are your alls speeds. to summarize. Also when it does get rolled out will they expand it any or just where it is now will get better speeds?
sorry for wall of text and jabbering on!
In Charr I pull a steady 5mbps down
it all depends on which tower your receiving from bc that tower could not been upgraded completely yet

so then im guessing you are in there "4g" area?
also when you are in a 3g area do you notice a speed boost? or do they upgrade all towers to hspa+ so what once was 3g is not "4g"?
Check my signature - that's about average for me at my house... Elsewhere around the county I get around 5MB download...
Upload is always maxed at 600kb.

yea but i noticed once im out of 4g areas my speeds drop in half but i always get like 1.2mbps up
does anyone know if when they upgraded towers they noticed more 3g areas 4g? or was it already the 4g areas just got that speed boost?
January of this year when I first signed on with T-Mobile I only had EDGE speeds anywhere in this county. They upgraded to 3G probably in March. I was seeing H showing up on my phone around the same time but the fastest downloads I was getting anywhere was only around 3MB. When I got a Vibrant (July) I saw the speeds slowly creep up to 5MB almost everywhere.

3G throttling/slow data speeds

I have been getting very slow data speeds from 3g while almost all phones around me have been getting much higher, on the same network.
I first realized this when a friend on mine was getting speeds of >1Mbps while I was getting ~350Kbps. This was farther backed up while in a Verizon store. I tested the 3G speeds of 3 or 4 phones in the store and also tested mine. They were getting ~1.4Mbps while I was only getting 350-400Kbps.
Something is definitely wrong here. I have changing radios a few times, however I'm still getting slow speeds. Honestly I don't know exactly how long this has been happening, but its been a while. I don't know what else to try and these slow speeds are really inconvenient and make things a pain when not on wifi.
Is there a way I can tell if I am being throttled?

Ridiculously slow speed on T-mobile HSPA+

Hey guys,
I'm from the Bay Area in California. I have a supposedly unlimited 4g plan from T-mobile. I don't pay for it so I don't know the exact details but I can always connect to the signal with the H and get data.
I've noticed that over time the 4g from T-mobile has slowed down, almost to a standstill. Youtube used to stream with a little bit of lag on low quality. Now it doesn't even start, stuck on loading loop for ages. The only thing this "4g" internet is good for now is surfing the net and reading mainly text-based stuff. It's basically Edge or worse.
Another person I know has a Galaxy S3 with a 2gb 4G plan from T-mobile. His internet is also ridiculously slow. This seems to be a problem not just limited to the Galaxy Nexus but the HSPA+ from T-mobile in general. The SpeedTest.net app shows I'm getting a whopping 367kbps download and 749kbps upload, at 5:35 AM obviously not peak time.
So is this just T-mobile's issue or what? I've read the same thing about people in other cities getting 1mbps from HSPA+.
I've heard that the Nexus 4 can connect to LTE and overall have faster HSPA+ speed tests. Would buying the Nexus 4 solve the speed problem?
Yes it's T-Mobile. Can't get over 1mbps downstream in College Station, TX
Yes, I am thinking it is T-Mobile... My husband & I have the unlimited plan from T-Mobile (was 5gb, then moved to unlimited). I have a nexus4 in the Bronx/westchester, ny & ny speeds are terrible, edge speeds at best, or no service at all. Don't know what's up.

T-Mobile HSPA+ service just seems to of went downhill lately. While mines not as bad as some of yours (usually 2-3mbps download, right now at 0230 only 3-400kbps) it certainly has been slower than several months ago. I've used just under 18GB in 3 weeks though, so for the price I pay I try not to complain. Phones a G'Nex in the Kansas City MO area.
I can't help but wonder if this has something to do with T-Mobile trying to get people to upgrade to LTE capable phones.

Well I figured the network wasn't that good because it's the cheapest. Turns out some areas with good coverage I can get 5000mbps but in others it drops to around 300.
Still the question was, would upgrading to the Nexus 4 with LTE get better speeds in areas with bad HSPA+ coverage? Has anyone tried this?

You're confusing units mate, if everyone got 300-500mbps we wouldn't be having this discussion. Lol

I thought this was only me... Couple of months ago I had 20-30 MB download speed on my galaxy s 3 but now I bearly get 150 KBPS.. I live in NYC.. I hope T-Mobile fixes their network soon..
slow speeds in college station
I live in college station. just went back to my old galaxy nexus, and the speeds are quite slow...
