Is there a way to tell if the phone is unlocked? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Hello! Is there a way to tell if an AT&T Note 4 is unlocked or not? Thanks!

Put a non-ATT SIM card in it and see what happens.

my galaxy nexus does not read sim card

i have a question about galaxy nexus . after i rooted my GN , it does not read my sim card. (the phone is verizon lte and i have a t-mobile microsim) i checked the bootloader and the lock state is unlocked.
any ideas of what i should do now>
did you ever find out your answer? i unrooted my vzw galaxy and now it won't read a sim card.
try a normal simcard... not a microsim with an adapter
You have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, which is carrier locked to Verizon, so your T-Mobile SIM won't work on it. The Verizon Galaxy Nexus is a CDMA phone, T-Mobile is a GSM carrier, so even if you carrier unlocked the phone, it still wouldn't work. And last but certainly not least, Your bootloader may be unlocked, but that doesn't mean that the SIM is unlocked; like I said earlier, that Verizon Galaxy Nexus is carrier locked.

How were you planning on using a CDMA/LTE phone on a network that only does GSM/HSPA? Not quite compatible. Different radios.

If you open up another thread with your specific issue we might be able to help you out but I don't want to derail this thread going into details about a completely different problem.
As for OP, that SIM will not work in any CDMA Galaxy Nexus because it is not a "global" phone. It only supports Verizon Wireless SIM cards.

[Q] Is the lg g3 d851 from tmobile already unlocked.

Is the phone unlocked or locked?

I am buying a Samsung Galaxy note 2 from craigslist. The post said the phone was locked to telus/koodo and so I messaged them saying that my simcard is from fido and would like to buy it than
unlock it so I could use it. He messaged saying he tried Rogers/bell and it wouldn't work and he doubted it would work with fido ( I don't know if he knows what he is talking about
because the post said it was locked ) and so I asked him if it was unlocked already or was it just locked to telus and koodo because I heard you could put a koodo sim card in a
Telus phone. He also said maybe the sim card reader is broken, but I thought if the sim card reader was broken it wouldn't be able to read any sim card at all not even telus sim card that it's supposedly
locked to. The phone is model SGH-I317M. I really want to buy this phone and it was the best one I found on craigslist. I am thinking of going to test if it is unlocked but how do I tell? Will a message pop
up when I put in my fido sim card in and boot it up saying "phone is locked, put in unlock code" ? :crying:

Yes a message will pop up asking you for the sim unlock code if it's locked. If it's not locked then you'll get signal. You also need to ask them what firmware is on the phone, cuz you can possibly unlock it from the hidden menu. Just search Xda for that.
Good luck on your new device ?

if not, just try different sim card. simlock is for 1 brand, so you will know

No root = no custom recovery?

After several pages of reading i need to ask this:
I have a n910v that is a CDMA phone and i need to use it in a GSM network. For this i found that there is a way to reach that trough a "script". In order to run that i need to set the "signature verificatio" off. (I'm ok with that, i trust the script developer), but for doing that i need a custom recovery (right?) and to have a custom recovery instaled i need to rooot the phone (as far as i understand), so: since there is no root for this sm-n910v there is also no custom recovery?
Thanks!

For a custom recovery you need a unlocked bootloader witch the retail Note 4 dose not have. Root can be achieved without a bootloader unlock but a unlock allows the custom recovery without having root thus making it much easier to root.

Hmmm, so you are saying me that i need a bootloader unclock?
Not sure why you need to do anything of the sort? I am using 2 Verizon note 4's here in Ireland on GSM my wife and I. I did find when I received them they would not work with a GSM sim or connect to a GSM Network here in Ireland. So I went on ebay and bought a Verizon sim card, dummy/dead/unactivated what ever for 5 dollars poped it in to both phones, they said activating phone then activation failed. But guess what GSM sim card worked after that....its a strange one.
By the way it needs to be a 4G Verizon sim card. I tried another Verizon Sim and it didn't work.
Hope this helps

Well, i'm in Argentina, to have a Verizon SIM card here is going to take about 4/5 weeks, but is good to know, thanks.
Btw, ur Note 4 was also a CDMA phone?
Yes it is a cdma. Took about 2 weeks for me to get Sim. Make sure it's a 4G one you buy. It's well worth the wait. Best of luck.

For a custom recovery yes,for a carrier unlock no. These are two entirely different unlocks. As gersrt said you need a different sim card. The phone should already be carrier unlocked.
