Widgets - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When I go into my apps, I don't see any of my widgets. I had it a few days ago. Running lollipop on Verizon. Any ideas?

Unless you're using a custom launcher, widgets have never been part of the apps screen on the Note 4. At least on KK, I haven't taken the Lollipop update yet, but I'm assuming by "a few days ago" you mean before you took the Lollipop update.
Use a two finger pinch in gesture on any of your home screens.

[Q] Apex Launcher + Reboot = Widgets Gone

not rooted, running latest Apex Launcher. had only five widgets.
had issue where one or two widgets would randomly disappear once i entered/exited the app drawer. that seemed to have stabilized. but now after rebooting, all my widgets have disappeared.
what gives? any suggestions?
I believe I read yesterday that Widgets getting deleted on reboot or when updating the app, is a KitKat bug.
Not sure there is much you can do, until a fix is made. (Perhaps 4.4.4).

damn. that is a hugely unfortunate bug.

Actually it may not be the issue, as it seems the bug I was referring to is only for TW.
"With the update to Android 4.4 KitKat, the default TouchWiz launcher introduced a major bug that has yet to be fixed: widgets belonging to paid apps get deleted every time those apps get updated."
Because you are using Apex, it shouldn't be the same bug. So perhaps it's just an Apex issue, you may wish to find the Apex thread and report the issue there.
thanks. have emailed dev.
addendum: not a KK bug.
just tried NOVA, and the widgets reappear after boot.

[Q] Lockscreen (Knockcode) Swipe Camera disappeared (D855 v20h)

Hi all,
I've had 3 or 4 OTA updates on my LGG3 since I got it last year, one of the ones around 20h made the swipe to camera icon disappear. The one in the bottom right...
How do I get it back?
Also, how do I change volume down to launch a third party camera (XCam LG)
This is possibly due to the change in Android Lollipop's lock screen settings. If you see stock ROMs or vanilla Nexus, there isn't any lock screen widgets anymore either.
However, I've inspected the ROM packaging (at least for Cloudy's ROM), this code is still there, it just doesn't show up for some reason.
I'll let some other pro answer this...
Solution? Wait for v30-base from G4's LG UX 4.0 software, if not you can download third-party lock screen apps (i.e. WidgetLocker or HiLocker)
Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue.

I installed zui locker, played around with it's camera settings then uninstalled it. Funny the camera widget appeared and remained in the stock lockscreen.

Slowness Issues with DP

Ever since loading the beta on my phone, it has become really slow, to the point where I have to reboot it about 2-3 times per day. This never happened before and it's very frustrating. I am on DP4 and it still happens. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any tools to use to see what might be causing this if it's an app?
At the DP3 I also had the phenomenon from time to time with Nova Launcher. I haven't noticed it yet with DP4.

Actually, I think this may be a Nova Launcher issue. I switched to the standard launcher and so far no issues. I will continue to test and see but so far it's running so much better.
Yeah I stopped using Nova with DP3. I'll wait for official full support for P by them before I install Nova again.

Using ActionLauncher on dp4 and dp3 and no issues. Nearly same or even better possabilities to configure as nova (changed from nova years ago).
No problems with Nova for me on dp3 and dp4. Works great!
Well I didn't necessarily problems but Nova had the constant back button showing while on the homescreen with gestures on. It also didn't have the new Pixel Launcher features like app suggestions on the bottom of the multitasking or the "next step" (can't remember what they call it) within the app drawer. Lastly, it didn't have the matching dark theme with Google Feed. Just few little things.

Sure, I chose Nova over Action because of the double tap to sleep function.
I have both launchers and have always tried Action Launcher when new features came out but then kept switching back to Nova, mainly because I like the drop-down menu in the app drawer that shows recent and new apps, makes finding things easier. However, Nova has been causing my phone major slowness issues on DP4 so I went back to the stock launcher for a few days and everything has been much better. I'm going to try Action Launcher now to see how that works.

I've got it. So far, it's been sluggish, all of the updated apps are taking longer to load. Should I try clearing data of all those apps?
My own personal phone is starting to feel faster than the S9 in my house now.

Give it a go or do a reboot I had the beta installed and found it quite snappy but didn't like the ui so I am just going to use nova launcher when I update to it.

Well, so far so good. The only negative thing I can say about this release, which may improve over updates, is that Samsung's apps just seem to take maybe around a second more to load.
The dark mode and the adjustments all over the UI for one-hand operation overshadow this one small complaint.
My wife's phone received a 404mb download last night. I'm guessing this isn't it? The official

Can anyone tell me how to have the navigation bar hiden in apps like Facebook or Instagram or Whatsapp? It's something I really miss from Android 8

Surely you could tell by looking at her phone? It's a lot different to Oreo and it says Android 9 in phone info....
But no probably not, it will be around 1.7GB
Ok cool, she has received at least 5 beta beta updates. Lucky her. On note 9 we only have 3 so far.

I also updated from Oreo to Pie and was running substratum with sungstrum plugin. I deleted all the themes and cleared all caches and restarted before upgrading to Pie. When upgraded it was all fine but when switching to dark mode all my system apps went berserk and started force closing. Switching back to light mode solved that problem. But apparently there where still files from substratum conflicting with the dark theme. So I had to reset to factory settings and after that the problem was entirely gone. So maybe this is a heads up for some one else before upgrading.
The first drawback I encountered is the app drawer. When trying to move app icons to the bottom part of the screen it sets it automatically back to the top position. I find this very strange given the fact that Samsung wanted to let us use the bottom part of the screen more than the top part. Now I still have to reach to the top part of my screen. Not very "one handed" friendly. I use my icons in groups maybe that has something to do with it.
For now I still have to discover the upgrade more, but it looks promising for now. Its fast and the UI is smooth as butter.

You can set the apps you want to use in the bottom in home screen, not in the app drawer... That's a reason why there's a home screen in Android...

I don't want any stuff on my homescreen. I always use the app drawer to open up my apps. But I want to rearrange them on a spot I choose. Not was has been chosen by the system itself.

If they make the app drawer as you wanted to, the app drawer and the home screen will be the same thing... If you wanted a clean home screen, you can make the default page clean and put your apps on other pages

If she's already on Pie beta the final update to the stable version will only be small, if she's on Oreo it will be 1.7GB~
Beta is finished now so chances are she's either on the last beta or final already, check if the members app opens the full app or the beta OneUI part

Android 10 remove Google search bar

I GOT THE OTA Android 10 update a couple of days ago and Nova launcher no longer functions completely.
I am customizing the Pixel launcher and would like to remove the Google search bar on the home screen.
I would also like the screens to wrap around.
Can I do these things?

Can't do those things with the stock pixel launcher to my knowledge. However, a modified pixel launcher might do the trick if your rooted. Look in this thread, and talk to @Tulsadiver to see if he can make one for you. What exactly isn't Nova launcher doing for you? Seems to be working fine for me.

You can't remove Google search bar because it's part of Google launcher

You can remove the Google search bar, resize the icons and choose how many columns you want in the all-apps area and how many in the hot spot on the home page by using my Pixel Launcher zip installer. Plus background colors and text colors.
Choose one of the bases for No-Google search, flash anything else you like, lastly, flash complete installation. There will be a zip file created on your sdcard in a folder called ozop. Flash that via magisk manager.

The search bar is not removable from the Pixel Launcher dock, and the Pixel Launcher does not support infinite scroll for screens. You'll have to use a custom launcher to do that, which leads to my question: what's not working properly on Nova Launcher? I've encountered no troubles with it on Android 10.
I have a Verizon edition so bone stock. Android 10 broke my adb command as well as the Custom Nav app. Hopefully issue is resolved soon.

I use 3 button navigation and when I display all the tasks , there isn't a 'close all' option. There isn't even an 'X' to close them individually. I sent a note to the dev and the reply was this is an issue for all 3rd party launchers until Google changes something.
I am full Verizon stock and don't want to root. At least not yet...

I did notice this but didn't think it a big enough deal to mention. To remove an individual page however, swipe up. The recents screen is gesture-based.
If you're using a Verizon device, then there's no root for you at all unless you were lucky enough to get a device that mistakenly was unlockable. Verizon locks their bootloaders.
Thanks for the tip on the swipe up. I hadn't tried that and it works.
I am on the VZN network but bought the phone from Google. OEM unlock toggle in developer options seems to work.

Smart man. :good:
It's only if you buy the device from Verizon that you're screwed.
Hi, thanks!
Sadly, no ozop folder is created, after flashing one of the base no search bar and complete installation.
I'm using orange fox, also tried running the complete installation zip in magisk, no result.
Any recommendation I would appreciate, I can't stand the goog e search bar.
Have a good day!
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9 (Unlocked) which is running Android 10. I was looking to remove the Google search bar as well.
All I did was long press on the bar itself, a menu then pops up with 2 options
1) Information about google search
2) Remove search bar from home screen.
So I press option 2 and hey presto it is gone. Have just done a reboot to check that it doesn't come back and it hasn't!
Could it really be that easy?????!!!!

On a Samsung it's possible as they aren't a Google Pixel and don't use the Pixel's stock launcher.
