My battery life is in the GARBAGE after lollipop uodate. Is this a known issue that verizon is aware of and working on ? I'm hardly getting 8 hours on a full charge that was giving me 16 last week. I'm not seeing anything crazy in battery usage section . Is there something that was cut on in 5.0 I need to disable ?

Is that a code word for something or do you mean just physically pull the battery out and put it back in

My battery use got better right after I pulled the battery. Before, I was losing battery charge much faster than before the Lollipop update. The screen shot shows the immediate improvement in the battery use curve at about 10:30 am.

Please check the image. I. Bet you can say at what point i installed the update. And also you will notice that from that point my battery goes draining like crazy
Anyone also experiencing this too? Any solution?

Ive got New screenshots Please take a look at them. As you can see the drainage is still awefull. I have only used it for checking my screen and battery so just small screen time.
What does your percentages for usage look like? Does anything stand out as a cause? It would be good if I could see your percentages
most likely just the power drop while the phone was flashing the update, after a couple of charges you will be fine.
John.
check the new screenshots

It could be becasue they still have not addressed the issue of the NvCPLSvc.apk power management thing.
It says so in the change log.
Cheers.
I'm getting similar stats to you..
I only got my One X today and updated it straight away to 1.28, from a full charge i've dropped to 60% after 1 hour 15 mins screen on time! About 1 hour 30 mins since i unplugged it..
Should let it improve over a few charge cycles to see improvement.
Let the phone and the battery settle.
U`ll find improvement after 2 charges.

I hope you are right , about an hours browsing on the 1.28 update on a standard unlocked phone and I am down from full to 20% !!
Here's hoping the battery "beds in " a bit better
Can't understand why they didn't change the Nvidia.apk thing... Is it that hard ?!
I'm according to the fact that after 2-3 charges it will get better (not perfect, but better) good luck

Check if its bloated. If you can't see it well, take out your battery, put it on a table and spin it. If it spins for more than 15 seconds, then it is bloated. You will want to change it. And yes, we will require a screenshot of your battery usage

Don't take that as being 100% correct.
I have had batteries reported as healthy when in fact they were starting to show the smallest amount of bloating and starting to fail, which caused fast discharge and other problems like rebooting when forcing the camera flash, sudden drops in battery charge level etc etc...

It´s all your battery programms draining your battery. Yes they are draining battery too and if you need so much programms, don´t wounder your battery is drained so fast.
So rather than using all that battery apps better check what else is draining your battery.
sorry for late reply, but thanks for all of your suggestions..
gonna post the battery usage sooner when i got 10 post
Hey guys, so it's turned out that my battery is leaking, now i have replaced it with a new one, but it's still draining so fast. So what do i do ?

For some reason lately whenever I have my phone locked as in standby ,i can feel it over heat and it drains the battery massively. I just went to home depot and before I left it was at 28% and 10 min later after I got back it was at 8%... Had it on the charger litterly 10 times today..
Give it the good old reboot. If that doesn't work, give it the good old factory reset.
Rebooted it like 20 times todays lol i factory reset it and recieved the update and so far seems good!
I have the same problem over here, especially when the battery reaches 30%.
Suffered from the heating issue with normal browsing and a battery drain, took it to the service center and as usual their reply "Nothing Wrong"
Started to hate this phone
Maybe your battery is not properly calibrated
Try this , let the battery discharge to 0% and then without powering up the phones charge the battery to 100% .
Check if that helps

So I got a brand new pixel XL a few weeks ago. I was reluctant about the whole thing because even though it's a new phone. It has been sitting in a box for over a year without being charged or anything. So long story short, I got the phone and the battery life is awful. I took it off the charger this morning and within 5 min of being off the charger it's at 96%. I typed this and that's it. My work issued phone is a standard iPhone 7. Absolutely destroys this pixel XL in battery life. What is your experience with this phone? Do you think it would be worth ordering a battery and putting a new one in?
Depends on what version of android you are using. 7.1.1 and 7.1.2 were great with battery life, 8.0 sucks and I have heard people in the beta 8.1 are saying the battery life is spectacular.

I'm on the 8.1 beta. This thing doesn't hold a candle to my Nexus 6p that I had.
That's interesting, there might be an app that isn't playing well with 8.1.

I didn't even consider the fact that a phone sitting in a box not charging for a year could effect the condition of the battery...is this really a valid concern? Would that really degrade the quality of the battery?

Something is wrong then as you have said, 8.1 is awesome on battery.
I would bite the bullet and factory reset it, and hold off putting any apps on it, or making any settings adjustments for a couple of days.
If that works, go slow adding apps. If it doesn't yeah get the battery replaced.

Battery's don't like to sit. That's why a lot of people that have cars that sit or recreational vehicle put battery tenders on them. Maybe this doesn't apply to the batteries in our phones
I don't know if all battery types work the same. Car/boat/etc. have lead-acid batteries, the old rechargeable and battery phones were nickel-metal-hydride, and modern phone batteries are Lithium Ion. They all have different characteristics when being used and stored.

We know your apps are good...you just reset it. This will eliminate wifi or mobile freaking out. It's a long shot, I just like to eliminate possibilities.

I guess my only concern is a phone is going to get good battery life while on airplane mode. Maybe not. But with that enabled I won't be able to use the phone for anything so it will just be in doze which would result in good battery life. I understand what you mean but I don't know if it will really show me results that are useful

Valid point. But I think a bad battery will continue to drain, maybe not as fast....but too fast for while on doze.
I've always read that the battery percentage isn't too accurate above 90%. Also, don't the phones stop charging once full and trickle as it depletes? There's apps that had been made to do this as well since it's supposed to be better for letting lithium batteries. I'd give it a day or 5 before thinking your battery is bad.

I have had the phone for a few weeks and have just been kinda dealing with it. Maybe it's fine and I was just expecting more from it. So far it just has not been all that impressive.
Edit: your comment about the first 10% not being that accurate. There may be something to that because it does seem as though the first 10% goes fairly fast then it slows down after that. Maybe it's just something g that I need to get use to

Then i think your battery is good. Going by those numbers you will get around 6 hours of SOT.
I usually get around 3.25 hours of SOT with 50% remaining on 8.0 Oreo.
Does anyone know what this option does? Like does it really save battery or help apps operate better?
I can't seem to find this option on mine
It save battery life optimizing power consumption in case of system detect unusual drain with some apps.

In my own experimentation, it seems to make a significant difference in overall battery life. I'd like to know more about what it's doing too, though.
Interested as well.
I'm just going to turn it in and see what happens. Usually at about 50 percent battery I have between 4 and 4 1/2 hours of screen time so that's what I'll compare it with.

Im setting mine up today since i have unlocked the bootloader and rooted. Anything special in settings you have done to get that good of SOT?
Disabled a few apps from settings, don't use 5g as it's not great in my area yet, only turn on location when needed. Other then that nothing I have the tmobile version and haven't had any of the heat or battery issues people are talking about. The only problem Im having is getting used to having to charge every day after owning the LG v60. Nothing can touch that phone as far as battery goes.
I turned on this option once i receive it and did first setup. Actually my best sot time was of 8h2.
So what does it do?
If it was all good then it would be on by default
