why not use Unified Remote from android market..less hassle and more uses
This guide is only for Android smartphones who has problems with IMEI number on MTK chipsets….
“I am not responsible for any damage caused to your phone by using this”
Method 1 – Using Engineer Mode (You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure)
Open the Dialer and type *#*#3646633#*#* you will enter the MTK Engineering Mode or using Mobile Uncle APP Hit the Engineer Mode option and choose the Engineer Mode (MTK).
On EngineerMode Chosee Connectivity and click the CDS information option.
You will see Radio information there and after tapping on it. If you have dual SIM ANDROID then you will see TWO option select any one on which you want to write IMEI with.
Click Phone 1
At “AT+” line add : AT+EGMR = 1,7,”my_first_IMEI_code”
Click on “SEND AT” button below
For second SIM tap Phone 2 and type this command
AT+EGMR=1,10,”my_second_IMEI_code”
Click on “SEND AT COMMAND” button below a second time
Reboot phone
Verify codes with *#06#* if IMEI codes are ok
Method 2 – Using Terminal Emulator (You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure)
change imei with terminal emulator
Install Terminal Emulator
Launch the Terminal Emulator app
Type SU then press ENTER button to get Superuser permission
After that, type this command then press ENTER button
echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,7,”IMEI_NUMBER”‘ >/dev/pttycmd1
If you have dual SIM add this line
echo ‘AT+EGMR=1,10,”IMEI_NUMBER”‘ >/dev/pttycmd1
Last step, reboot your phone/tablet and DONE!
Method 3 – Using MTK Droid Tool
Download MTK droid tools and Extract on your PC/Laptop
Download Universal USB Driver
Enable USB debugging on the phone then connect it to the PC (don’t enable mass storage)
Install Universal USB Driver on the PC with the phone connected; you should get a message saying drivers installed successfully.
Launch MTK droid tools on the PC (still with phone connected to PC)
MTK droid tools should detect and display your phones details
Next you need to click the ROOT button so that it will temporary have Root shell access on your phone in order for it to make the script work on the background.
Click on IMEI/NVRAM
change imei mtkdroid tool
Put your 15 Digits IMEI Number that you can get at the back of your phone inside not the back cover if you have 2 IMEI you need to put that.
Then click Replace IMEI
Restart your phone if it isn’t automatically restarted
Your IMEI issue should have been resolved
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone,do it at your own risk.
Instead we can use mobileuncle tools application from play store for this we need root

Put a space after AT like "AT +" and not "AT+". Rest should be written as above..
I recently found a problem while doing method 1
"This command is not allowed in user build"
So the solution for that is:-
When we are writing
AT+EGMR = 1,7,”IMEI_code”
we have to give a space b/w AT and +
so final command will be like this
AT +EGMR=1,7,"IMEI_code"
Hit thanks if it worked for u

FWIW, this doesn't work on a BLU Vivo 5R running Nougat. Gives the same not allowed error with or without the space.

And just to add on, the terminal commands don't work either. They're accepted without any kind of error, but upon reboot there's still nothing there.
Thanks
It worked perfectly on Lenovo tab 2 a8-50lc, couldn't click thank you button though, its greyed out.
P.s: must have root access. Tried without root gave not allowed in userbuild.

No error message either, but not working also.
//Tested on ZTE Blade V10, Android 9, V1.8
Hi,
Can some one help me in changing the Mac address.
Tried Busy box bit is not working...
I could get it working perfectly on my Note 2. I'm on the custom Eclipse V3 ROM.
Requirements : Root
0) Switch OFF WIFI
1) Use a file browser. Navigate to /efs/wifi/
2) Backup the file ".mac.info" (you need to enable "show hidden files" to be able to see this one)
3) Edit the file and put in the MAC address you want.
4) Save the file to the same location
5) Switch on wifi (reboot not required)
I have fixed mine.
There was no MAC address programmed to the device at factory. That's an omission. So the WIFI driver when activated after restart or by turning wifi off/on notices that and gives a temporary MAC address.
That address changes in the last bytes.
The solution is to write a WIFI MAC address with an appropriate tool. I did use SN_Writer just be careful to leave the other data alone.
I guess the same happens with the Bluetooth address but did not check that out yet.
0) Choose a valid MAC just look under settings the temporary one that your phone uses that's ok
1) Install VCOM Driver if you don't have it yet
If you use Windows 10 then you have to temporarily disable Driver Signature check since those drivers are not signed
Instructions and download here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-m2/help/windows-10-mtk-vcom-usb-drivers-32-64-t3267033
2) Download the SN_Writer I did use that one, password is mtk2000
http://mtk2000.ucoz.ru/down18/SN_Writer_Tool_v1.1648.rar
3) Download the right stock rom for your device you need the file which is named like the one I did use
APDB_MT6797_S01_alps-mp-m0.mp9_W16.48
4) Power off phone
5) In SN_Writer hit System Config uncheck everything and check Wifi Adress on the left side
In database file AP_DB use the file from 3)
That should do it.
Hit Start and entry the MAC just the digits no dashes etc.
Connect the phone while holding Volume Down.
That should do it.
Thanks for the write up, I got my S7 WiFi MAC address fixed now too, with your steps !!
Bluetooth appears already fixed/correct. (Also I haven't noticed my paired bluetooth devices loosing pairing..)

Great! Also good that Bluetooth is correct. Did not pair anything yet but good to know there won't be similar problems.

thanks a lot, worked like a charm. I really needed that fix as i put mac control on my router
Meta_maui_db_inconsistent
After:
"Connect the phone while holding Volume Down."
... just a message "META_MAUI_DB_INCONSISTENT" und the process break it
You have an idea what I can still check?

Sorry for my late answer.
Double check step 3) you need the correct file from the correct stock rom for your device.
If that still doesn't work I would try reflashing the bootloader preloader (only) from stock ROM and try again.
It should work.
I'm not having any luck with my device on windows 10.
Whenever I try to connect my device to windows via usb, a pop appears - (USB device not recognized-the last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned ,and Windows does not recognize it) .
I've also tried to clean up my usb drivers and re-install MTK preloader.
Any advice how I might fix this?
File APDB_MT6797_S01_alps-mp-m0.mp9_W16.48?
Hi,
Where do I find the file "APDB_MT6797_S01_alps-mp-m0.mp9_W16.48"?
It's not available on Google.
Thanks!
Thank q so much .. Fix it.
