[Q] I need answer to my question. - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Hi, I'm new to posting thread. So, I had battery drain problem and I was one of those people who is surfing through the internet trying to find solutions for battery drain problem on Note 4. Yesterday, I took out the cases and battery to clean out the dust. Later, when I put back the battery and turned on my phone, that's when the magic happened. My battery problem was fixed and I was surprised and now when my screen is off it takes about 1-2hrs or MORE to decrease %'s. When I use my phone constantly, it takes 5-9 mins for each % to decrease (WHICH never happened for me.) I charged my phone last night @ 11 PM (04/05/2015) and I still have 68% through moderate use. I still have 1 DAY and 22 hrs left on my battery according to my phone. (Screen time on: 1h 14m 16s). I'm very happy with my phone right now.
Here is my question: Can anyone give me explanation to this? How can just taking out the battery and put it back in can make huge difference?
NOTE: I'm not complaining; in fact, I'm really happy. I'm just curious and a lot of you smart people probably has the answer to my question.
Thank you for reading!

Is my question stupid or something? lmao

When you post to any forum, it's courteous to use an informative subject line. That way, others can tell at a glance whether your topic is one they're interested in learning about or sharing their knowledge of. The subject line you used conveys no information about your subject, so most readers will skip it entirely.

No lol. I literally read it and thought about it, and that picture was what I did. Lol
It's weird to me that pulling the battery would magically improve the battery life. To me, it's normally placebo effect, but if it fixed things, then it's just... odd to me.

Simplest answer; Because pulling the battery can clear some info being retained in memory somewhere. Or it may not have been discharging fast, but the %indicator was not functioning correctly and pulling the battery reset it. Pulling the battery is not exactly the same as a reset.

It's really odd to me as well and that's why I created this thread, which is for explanation. I checked my phone this morning and it said, I had 13 days left according to my phone (Which is freaking crazy and never happened to me in my life.)

What does "lowest possible" mean? The lowest possible on the phone? That would be 0%, which is very dark and pretty much unreadable, so I doubt that is what you mean (although possible, I suppose, if you're a masochist). Or do you mean the lowest that you can tolerate? If you don't already have one installed, there are various (free) brightness widgets that can tell you the brightness %.
Looks like CM (7?), it would help if you tell us which build (RC1, 2, nightly, etc.)
The Display power consumption will vary greatly if you have the screen on a lot, and are actively using it.
Post your active screen time - it looks like you were browsing a lot. For only hour, I wouldn't be surprised if with plenty of browsing that your display took 30 percent of your battery usage.
I use my phone as my browser most the time.
What do u use your phone for?

If you're keeping the phone on browsing or watching video, your display will easily be 30% of the battery usage. This really isn't out of line, especially over a 1 hr period.
Now, if your display was 30% of battery after 10-12 hours of normal usage, it would be surprising.
If you expect this thread to go anywhere, you haven't given us much information to go on, despite requests by various users. Nor is it really clear if there is even a question you are asking.
I appreciate everyones help, I have figured out the solution by by reading everyones responses:
I am simply on my phone to much!
THANK YOU!

No, your answer is in the usage. If you leave your screen on, it will be a battery drain. This isn't an issue lol. And I think you would get more helpful information by providing us with information first. We're just guessing based on one screen shot of 1hr7min of usage and no explanation.

(TIP)Possible battery drain solution for LTE devices.

Like many here I've been having battery drain issues since the day I purchased the Galaxy Nexus. I also purchased the extended battery since day one. I've been reading through every single forum on how to reduce the battery drain and none seems to have worked for me. I've tried switching to wifi, 3g only, no email push, no google+, etc and my phone at 100% battery would lose almost 30% within 2 hours idling. Then I was looking at the settings and I came across the Developer Options/Background process limit and limited my background process from Standard to At most limit to 1 process and my battery has improved tremendously. Prior to making the change the Android OS was using 80+ % on idle (Wifi or 3g didn't make a difference), now it's uses around 20 or less. On idle I'm seeing around 4% or less an hour vs 15% battery drain.
Please remember this may or may not solve YOUR battery drain, but it has definitely helped mine and I just wanted to share with the community on what else you can try.
I've had pretty good results with my battery. I think some of ya'll are either just playing around with it too much or have some energy-sucking apps out there.

Or that you don't have a connection to the data network.
Just say'n. (I do the same thing at night)
I had Wi-fi enabled for 12 hours, and the battery only dropped to around 85%. I have been on 4G for 5 hours now, and the battery is now down to 13%. I'm going to use a Wi-fi/3G combination tomorrow. Oh and I also have my phone rooted/underclocked to 900Mhz.

I've been using it for 3 days and have had no issues. Anyways its as easy as checking the standard limit if you ever wanted to revert back.

My battery life is stellar

Not sure what you people are doing wrong but I get great battery life running codename android 1.3 and Franco's nightly. Keep 3g on most of the time and use 4g and wifi at home. This is from yesterday, wish I could've let it fully drain but I had to go to work and swapped the battery. This to me represents real world use, played around on the internets, texted, and made a few calls while at work and used pulse heavily after I got home. Kept 3g on while I slept (why do people put it in airplane mode or turn data off?)

Yawn.

the only relevant thing would be screen on time
Your screen on time is very low.
Can someone explain to me why we have 50,000 battery threads? I think we get it! Your battery life is great. My battery life is great. Jane's battery life sucks. Jim can't even figure out how to turn on his Galaxy Nexus.
Stop with these threads!!! And you know what, to add insult to injury... My battery life on the stock ROM destroys what you just posted.

Thanks for the laugh man. I needed it. These threads have gotten so out of hand, it's ridiculous. A Mod should just combine all these redundant battery threads into one giant thread so they can all piss in the wind and see whose goes further.

My phone is very strange about battery life, in fact sometimes it lasts 26/27 hours and sometimes, with the same usage more or less, it lasts 15/16 hours
That's pretty good, I can barely get mine to last overnight with literally NO USE, BUT SERIOUSLY ANOTHER THREAD?
Ripping tale old chap.

[Q] Crazy Battery Loss on CM9... help?

I recently updated my E4GT to CyanogenMod 9 alpha 5 and my battery has been dying insanely fast. I noticed immediate drops in battery % at random times, see attached image.

Hey let me talk to you for a sec... dont take this the wrong way but are you the only one in the forum that does not know all ICS roms have terrible battery life until we get kernel source.....Bad battery life is notated on like every thread in ICS.
Its ok man just messing with you but yea until kernel source comes out either deal with it or go back to GB... Oh yea and try and polish up on your ICS knowledge for the future

I dont know about all that I am on CM9 as well and I get the same life maybe a little less than I did on the gingerbread roms. I easily make it through a day with heavy use with battery life to spare. It must be a rouge app.

Hey if you are making it through the day then what the heck are you complaining about and with heavy use.... Come on man! Get Better Battery Stats and figure it out...
I thought you had real issues...lol
I know about the battery issues, but I have never seen a drop like in the screenshot I posted. I don't know if you looked at it, but I have not read of a reason for this to occur. It drops somewhere around 30% immediately

Simple man the kernel sucks life out of your phone when custom kernels start flowing so will your battery life.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
I solved the problem.
I have three batteries.
Sorry to bring up a dead topic but since these issues are still rampant and there is no "official" fix thread that I know of, I thought I'd post my findings and fixes that I have come acrossed (I take no credit for any of these methods) after taking these steps, my ics battery issues are gone.
Backup anything you don't want to lose.
Do a factory reset from the privacy settings.
Format internal SD AND external SD under storage settings.
Change wifi advanced setting "keep wifi on during sleep" to never.
Turn off display battery percentage under display settings.
That's it! One or more of these methods fixed my issues, I was having next to all of the problems people are having. Including the random massive battery drops mentioned in op.
Also your notification light and battery light could drain as well.

A (HOPEFULLY) unique battery question for i747

Hey All,
As per the N00B video, I'll try to keep this short.
So today was my first full day with the SGS3 (ATT). The battery life is ABYSMAL. I had it in airplane mode for about 8 hours (for reasons not important to the thread) and light usage (Facebook/internet) for 20 min. With another hour or so with all radios on and no usage. Add all that up, and I went from 100% to 1%. Unlike most others, my biggest usage was Android System....Not screen. I am un-rooted. I've downloaded no different apps then with my previous Android (OG ATRIX). I had/have Lightflow on both. That's the only thing I can think of that would cause this.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I downloaded BetterBattery, and will have it running after I charge up my phone.
And if this is discussed elsewhere, my bad. Maybe point me in the right direction?
Okay, it is my opinion, only having had my 474 for a little over a month that you have a rouge app.... delete lighrflow. After that, see how it goes.
I have been using the stock rom for the entire time (rooted the day i got it) and have tried 2 roms. Ive tried juiced defender and that didn't
really yield great results. I'm not considering using the stock ROM with kootz or whatever it's called kernel. Ive read that that combo
yields better results with regards to battery life.
I'll post in the next few days. Need to run it for thru 3 charges to see results.
Anyone else care to chime in??
I've run Ultimatum 1.3 and Kylan.... admittingly, not long enough to see if battery life improved....

As others mentioned, do the better battery stats and un install light flow. I believe that the developer acknowledged the battery drain for the S III.

Could be the gsiff-daemon bug. Try turning on Power Save and see if it helps. I normally get 15-17 hours per charge. That's with everything synching every 15 minutes, chrome browsing, Facebook checking, game playing, app downloading, and general reading.
