[Q] [n5110] Orientation sensor calibration - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Hello,
I have a n5110 with Civrom and the orientation sensor is not working correctly any more.
Auto rotation does not provide the expected results. For example, the 90 degree position isn`'t available any more at all.
So I thought, I just recalibrate the orientation sensor. But, I find no such option anywhere within the settings.
I tried different roms without success.
Then I took a look at the market but while there are several programs which read the sensor data there is none which is able to calibrate it (at least I found none).
So, how can I recalibrate the sensor? Is there any way at all? A specific rom which provides this options or an app? Or do I need to buy a new tablet?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Need help on disable proximity sensor TP2

Hi
how can i disable the proximity sensor on my HTC Touch Pro 2, windows mobile 6.1 ?
I use a screen lock app that dims the screen during calls but when coming near proximity sensor during call, the screen is turned on again - a real pain.
Please if any onw have an advice to shut it off cpmpletely or when i am on bluetooth i would be really happy for some help
PS i thought paroximitysensor was supposed to disable when tp2 is connected to bluetooth - but its not ??
thanks
Nolan
no one ?

having the exact same issue. I found a cab called TurnOffTheLight but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
For me, it would be better if the proximity sensor was off permanently, if possible.

Hi
could you test teh cab and tell us here if that can turn of permanemtly the proximity sensor ?
regards Nolan
TurnOffTheLight works to turn off the backlighting but as soon as you move the phone the proximity sensor kicks in again.
in the app called Advanced Config there is a category for adjusting the threshold of the Light Sensor. Unfortunately I have no idea how to adjust it (it is at 0 now) and/or if adjusting this would affect the proximity sensor. Can someone comment on this?

Hi
light functionality would not solve the problem regarding proximity sensor - its 2 different matters unfortunately

Proximity Sensor behavior and solution
I am a late comer to this bb! Hey,I thought all the bugs would be worked out by now! My keyboard did not work right, .... and I have had several other problems with the touchpro2. What are the Chinese doing over there? I had programmed many embedded units and microprocessor systems, but, really, how can they mass produce units like these? Too many cooks in the soup? They are leaving their quality control to the general community.
My problem was I use my gps for bicycling, and if I place it in the support case, the proximity sensor would shut off the screen, even though I was not placing a call. The screen would blank and not come back on. I noticed there was no problem if the physical keyboard was opened and also if the unit were held horizontally. It did this all the time, regardless of the app running.
There are two sensors at the top of the unit: proximity sensor and light sensor. This is a problem with the proximity sensor, at the left.
So I just placed duct tape over it. Now it does not blank.

[Q] Proper proximity sensor values

So here is my problem: Some time ago i was using the "in pocket detection" and it was working perfectly fine, then i disabled it, then yesterday i enabled it and it wouldn't work :/
Since i thought it has something to do with the proximity sensor i downloaded some app that checks sensor output data and it reports value either 3.0 when i move something towards the sensor or 100.0 when i move away. I was wondering if that's the normal behavior. (not increasing linearly but rather acting more like a switch 1-0 behavior)
Also, i have no problems with screen blacking out during calls (it turns off and back on as expected), proximity lock works fine with an external app, but not with the "In Pocket Detection" in settings/display.
Any clues on what could be causing the problem and any suggestions how to fix it?
It is by no means critical but I just want to figure out what's wrong.
I think it's the correct behavior. The proximity sensor works more like a switch. I belive the In Pocket Detection also uses the camera and/or the accelerometer for the "detection" ...
Thanks for your reply.
Well, in the end i just flashed CM7 on it so i don't have the in pocket detection anymore

ois gyro and screen rotation

When I do a sensor check by entering *#0*# in the filter, the value for "ois gyro" is not changing. Also, my rotation isn't working. Can anyone check and report if the value for ois sensor on their phone is changing
That seems to be a stability test; it fails if trying to rotate during test.
The graph reflects direction of rotation change, spiking in the direction turned. The normal rotation from portrait to landscape and back to portrait is displayed near end where the spikes alternate above and below the static line. I was rotating phone at an interval reflected by the spikes.
Hope that helps your diagnosis.

I've managed to fix my problem, by wiping system, cache and dalvik without wiping data and flashing the same Rom as before.
Exact same problem
I used titanium backup to disable some things,
Now autorotation and pedometer doest work.
Undisabling every thing doesn't fix.
My OIS GYRO is static at X: -4.022 Y: 0.462
While the other sensory under the Gyroscope heading named GYROSCOPE flutters.
In fact all other sensorys flutter except for OIS GYRO.
When u did what u said, what data exactly were u able to keep? Just files? Apps? Launcher? Phone numbers?, pictures? Outlook and OneNote notebooks?
Could flashing a different rom still keep the data?

Sensor Calibration Issue

I have some issue with gyro sensor calibration. When I keep the phone in landscape mode calibration seems to be correct, portrait mode has issue(Screenshot attached).
Does anyone know how to fix this or tell me which file to edit for recalibrating? I have tried many apps from store, but nothing works.

H815 gyroscope fail

Hi all,
I'm having a strange issue with my G4 H815, and I hope someone here can help!
The problem is that the phone won't rotate the screen when you rotate the device, and then the touch screen will not work. I must turn the screen off and then on again in order for the touch to work. But it will stop working as soon as I tilt the device (activate the gyroscope to rotate the screen). After some time this will force phone to restart and then it finds hard to boot up again.
I think it's gyroscope because the problem happens when I turn the device on the side for eg. when I open camera everything is OK but if I try to take a landscape photo it will immediately freeze. And I also did the testing procedure (277634#*#) when I test the motion sensor gyroscope values hardly change. Also in Settings>Display>Motion Sensor Calibration I get and error "Cannot Calibrate"
My questions are:
Where is gyroscope located?
Is it part of mb (soldered to the mother board)?
Does the screen digitizer affect gyroscope function? (because the glue on the top of my screen has come loose but I don't see it affecting anything other then proximity sensor).
