Please if any onw have an advice to shut it off cpmpletely or when i am on bluetooth i would be really happy for some help
PS i thought paroximitysensor was supposed to disable when tp2 is connected to bluetooth - but its not ??

having the exact same issue. I found a cab called TurnOffTheLight but haven't had a chance to try it yet.
For me, it would be better if the proximity sensor was off permanently, if possible.

Hi
could you test teh cab and tell us here if that can turn of permanemtly the proximity sensor ?
regards Nolan
TurnOffTheLight works to turn off the backlighting but as soon as you move the phone the proximity sensor kicks in again.
in the app called Advanced Config there is a category for adjusting the threshold of the Light Sensor. Unfortunately I have no idea how to adjust it (it is at 0 now) and/or if adjusting this would affect the proximity sensor. Can someone comment on this?

Proximity Sensor behavior and solution
I am a late comer to this bb! Hey,I thought all the bugs would be worked out by now! My keyboard did not work right, .... and I have had several other problems with the touchpro2. What are the Chinese doing over there? I had programmed many embedded units and microprocessor systems, but, really, how can they mass produce units like these? Too many cooks in the soup? They are leaving their quality control to the general community.
My problem was I use my gps for bicycling, and if I place it in the support case, the proximity sensor would shut off the screen, even though I was not placing a call. The screen would blank and not come back on. I noticed there was no problem if the physical keyboard was opened and also if the unit were held horizontally. It did this all the time, regardless of the app running.
There are two sensors at the top of the unit: proximity sensor and light sensor. This is a problem with the proximity sensor, at the left.
So I just placed duct tape over it. Now it does not blank.

I am looking for a light sensor solution like on the IPhone. If u get a call and you put the phone at your ear, the phone screen gets dark, thats normal,
but what is, if I want to turn on speaker or something during a call? I allways have to press the ON/OFF button.
At the Iphone, they got a better solution for that.
Can anayone manage a little plugin cab or does anyone know a registry solution?
you need Touch_InCall_Screen_Tweak, It can do what you want but it is not using the light sensor.
It uses the G-Sensor, when the device is not in vertical position (closed to your ear), phone will wake up automatically and sleeps again when you take it close to your ear to speak (vertical position).
thank u for your reply, but I want a light sensor app.
Am not sure
but there isnt a light sensor in the blackstone to start with

i think you'r wrong m8 ... From what i know there is a light sensor in blackstone
the blackstone has a light sensor next to the ear speaker. It is oossibble to turn it on. but wehen you remove it from your ear, the light does not turn back on
Search for "PocketShield", this program has the requested feature, and much more.
yes, 3.0 is very cool

Pocket Shield is not freeware and is definetly not what I want.
I just look for a solution auto-lock un-lock when you remove or taken to the ear.
Microsoft developers will read this thread and bring it into new builds.
Ok, try this one. It seems to be available for free or at least the minimum version ,the full version is around the 7 $. You can measure the Brightness at your workplace, in rooms, use it for Photography or to set up aquariums and terrariums. Works fine although I use it just like for fun maybe is useful for your work.

The software is called Kai's Luxmeter pro 1.2

I dont want a Luxmeter, if I want a Luxmeter than I take mToolbox.
I tried Pocket Shield and after uninstalling this program, the light sensor does not work anymore.
Try TICST
really, just try it.

This is what you want to adequately switch the screen off as it comes to your ear and then on again as it comes away from your ear.
I've been using it on a an HD since March/April and it works flawlessly. It even has intelligent options to handle bluetooth calls and control of the speakerphone.
hmmm sounds good but what happens if you get a call at night and there's no light?
Need a combination of light sensor and g-sensor I think.
Yes it has it - please just try it before finding problems with it. It will work for you!!!

Yes this is one of the biggest problems with lightsensor...
Tested the detection range with mToolbox and Lumos - and it shows "0" very early even if there's a bit light around - so the light sensor in-call-detection wont work very good.
How is it solved at iPhone?
BTW:
[APP]Touch InCall Screen Tweak v1.2.0 - Updated 3 Sep 09 - Battery Drain Fix
So it doesn't use the light sensor then?
From v1.0.6 it DOES use the light sense to detect if it is against your ear. This is really a double check to back up the orientation. It doesn't use it to determine if it's away from your ear because the sensor doesn't seem to work when the screen is off, so it's of no use for switching the screen back on.
so - what else you want?
The iPhone doesn't use the light sensor to toggle screen, it uses proximity sensor - it turns off the screen when something approaches the area near the speaker and turns it back on when there's nothing near it.
Light sensor can't work reliably because you can get a call in a dark room.
TICST is a workaround using both the light sensor and the g-sensor, it's rather good but not perfect.
A perfect solution requires hardware that's missing in Touch HD. HTC HD2 will have the proximity sensor so screen toggling will be working there, hopefully.
I've got a problem that when I phone my screen goes blank without waiting me to put it against my face and then doesn't come back on again without me having to push the power button.
Any ideas where to start looking. I'm using the standard stock 6.5 WWE ROM.
I believe it uses the ambient light sensor on the front of the device to determine when it is against your face. Make sure the sensor is clean and not hidden under an aftermarket case. The TP2 might also use the accelerometer to determine the orientation of the device, in order to complement the light sensor and better determine when you're holding it up against your face.
So I'd go into the settings and calibrate the G-Sensor as well.
Thanks will take a look at that.
Having an Issue with Proximity Sensor (Can only talk on phone with Keyboard extended)
I am having a proximity sensor issue with my Tilt 2. When the proximity sensor kicks in and the screen goes black, the person i am calling doesnt hear my voice. Only when I move the phone away from my ear or extend the keypad so the 'lights stay on' does the other person hear my voice.
What can i do to force the light to stay on even when its up to my face.
where is this sensor located on the front of the phone? I am wondering if my screen protector is causing it. I have no clue
Helo,
Same problem here.
Any help?
I flash energy's rom,it's good.but screen light off when calling makes me crazy. However I press the power button, the screen does not light on.every way i can do (regedit, change light sensor) does not work.
so please ,anybody knows?
You're saying that no matter what you do, the screen will not light up at all during a phone call once the proximity sensor turns turns the screen off?
yeah, you are right, but some rom can light up during a phone call, others can not.I'm crying for this
I've used Energy ROMS, and they were bullet proof, ran perfect, did everything they were supposed to do, like turn the screen off when I help the phone to my ear or had an object within proximity of the sensor, and the screen relit whenever I pulled the phone from my ear or moved an object away from the sensor...if you're saying the screen stays dark and you cant turn it on even with nothing blocking the sensor, then I recommend posting that issue in the Energy ROM thread as there could be a solution...if you're saying the proximity sensor works normally and you'd prefer to deactivate it, I searched around for that for you and didn't find a resolution...you can, however, if the sensor works properly...cover it up all the time (perhaps a small piece of black tape or something)...you'll have to hit the power button one time each time the phone takes or makes a call but the screen will stay lit til you turn it off again, even during a call
thank you Gt247. thank you so much.I think I found the way to resolve my screen's problem
I read a bunch where people were looking for a way to disable the proximity sensor...perhaps if that's what you've done, you could post the solution here in the event those peple are still looking
I have tried some apps to disabled my proximity sensor, but those all do not work,I think it's my phone's hardware problem,I have already decided to open my phone to fix it.
so before I fix this fool sensor ,any knows which app can test the proximity sensor?
just a app to test whether my proximity sensor work normally, any clue?

You don't need any app to test the proximity sensor , just turn on your screen , and cover the sensor with your finger . If your proximity sensor works normally , screen will be off . When you remove your finger in seconds , the screen will be turned on again .
I think you can disable the proximity sensor simply by removing the shortcut in the "startup" folder , and restart .
If I misunderstood your words , ignore me pls ~
thanks pcgg.I have tested my proximity sensor,it seems not notice my finger, the screen always on.
I have not found the proximity sensor shortcut in my startup folder, here is the file list in my startup folder:
DeviceLockXT.lnk
LockDevice.lnk
SpbMobileShell.lnk
so could you tell me which lnk is the proximity sensor?I can't find the file about what you say by the name
It seems that there is not priximity sensor app in your phone ....
While there is an app called "Rhodium setting tool" in mine , and it has a option under the menu "phone" named "Light Sensor" . If I turn it on , screen will auto turn off during a call .
Maybe you can try that ?
Well , I must say that I did misunderstood your words ... I thought you were complaining an app called "Proximity Sensor" . I found it in the "Jackos" ROM ... Sorry for misleading you .
You can try that app "Rhodium setting tool" . If it can not work , I will have no idea about it .
thanks pcgg.
I have already try the light sensor,I have tried many apps those can control the light sensor, but those don't work at all,at last I get a conclusion that is proximity sensor has a higher priority than the light sensor, proximity sensor can decide whether the screen can turn itself on or off.
my rom now is seeM_ZA's simplicity rom 21916,I'm now ready to flash jackos'r rom.whether it works ,I will tell you the result later
Any of the two, i suspect the first:
- you probably have some dirt inside your phone, at top left corner where the digitizer has a semi transparent glass for the proximity sensor (you hardly see it without disassembling screen)
- the proximity sensor is KO, you have to replace flex to cure it (about 35$ on eBay)
Once i replaced the digitizer on a TP2 and a little drop of glue went near the window of proximity sensor, it didn't work at all till i disassembled all again, cleared the the glue around the window letting again enough light to enter the sensor.
Wondering if someone (hopefully more than one) can check something to see if this is an issue with my particular phone or something related to the software/hardware. It seems that when a call is placed or received, the proximity sensor goes to "far" and won't reset until it is uncovered and then re-covered. I have searched through the Verizon HTC One forums and have not found anything related to this issue.
If the proximity sensor is covered, and I make a call (via bluetooth headset (double click for last dialed)) or receive a call, the proximity sensor goes to the uncovered state. It then stays in that state until I uncover and then re-cover it. How I checked this was using Elixir 2 and checking the sensor data. I also set up variables in Tasker and Automagic.
So, this was my test procedure:
I start the sensor data in Elixir 2 for the proximity sensor. I cover the sensor with my finger (it now shows "near"). I use my bluetooth headset to place a call. The screen comes on with the current call. I back out of the current screen (the phone screen) and get back to Elixir 2 sensor data. The sensor now shows "far". From that point on, until I uncover the proximity sensor and then cover it, it shows far. I set up variables in Tasker and Automagic that show the same results.
I am running the stock debloated ROM. Rooted and S-Off.
Dont know about the bluetooth thing because i dont have one, but i do have issues sometimes with the proximity sensor when on calls. For example i will dial a number and put the phone to my ear talk awhile and then need to switch to speaker or look at something on the phone while still talking. But when i take the phone away from my ear, the screen stays off, and i have to swipe my finger over the sensor to get it to come back on.
I don't seem to have an issue with that. What seems to happen is that, IF the proximity sensor is covered, and you place a call or answer a call with your headset, when the device "wakes up" to the call screen the proximity sensor defaults to uncovered ( "far" ). Then the sensor does not start responding again until it is actually uncovered.

Anyone?
Hmmm... So, this is the latest for my issue. I went from stock ROM to ViperOne 5.8.0. I am still getting the same results. So, I think I have eliminated the software side of it. Would that be right? So, it could be the firmware or the hardware? I'm still wondering if it's my phone only or if it is an issue with the HTC One in general. Is there anyone that can check this? Or give me another route to take?
I'm on ViperOne 5.8.0
Android 4.4.2
Senses 5.5
Any other info you might need, please just ask.
Hello!
I've started to have a problem with proximity sensor. While calling, the screen get black and there is no way to turn it on (it turn if the other persone close the call only).
I tried to install a proximity sensor controller utility and it says it's always 0cm distance. By touching it I found it unlocks sometimes under pression or temporarily if I blow in it (but after a little it locks again).
I searched in settings an options to deactivate it but I really can't find it..
Can you tell me where I can find the option to turn off the proximity sensor, please?
And is there any way to fix this problem eventually? However I'd be happy if I can just deactivate the sensor..
Thanks
