So yesterday I noticed that when I tried to stream a movie through google play movies & tv only the audio would play (oddly enough the info cards still come up along with the closed captioning). I can however download movies/shows and they will play and the trailers in the app will stream and play video but nothing that I own will play video. I've tried switching between awesome player and nuplayer and nothing. Installed Movies & TV 3.7 and still nothing.
I'm running a Cyanogenmod 12 nightly so I'm guessing/hoping the cause is a bug in one of the nightlies. If not is it possible that google might be blocking the video? I find it suspicious that the trailers in the app will stream and play fine but nothing else will. Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips other then changing the ROM?
Make sure you haven't got Display HW overlays ticked in Developer Settings.

Like the title says.
Is there any way to have the music I have bought on the play store to be on my internal storage to be readable by other apps and devices?
I always played my music I downloaded from other places through my Xbox by just plugging my phone into it. But I uploaded my music to Google play so that it would be synced to my tablet. Now I can't do that at all without dlna (which I can't play while playing a game). There has GOT to be a workaround or something, I can't be the only one with this sort of problem......

You should be able to grab mp3s from the play store. You should also be able to strip the DRM tags with e.g. eye3d. This requires that you own the music and you'd still have to transfer it to your (emulated) sdcard.
Besides that I can recommend subsonic + dsub. It's an awesome tool to stream / play music and it can stream e.g. to a chromecast. It might be possible to use it in jukebox mode, which means you'd need a raspberry pi or alike and you could play your lib with it. But I have not yet tried that (I have a chromecast ).
Basically: If you don't know how you are going to play your music in 5 years don't buy from crippled stores. And noone known how to play songs in 5 years from now.

Thanks for trying to help. I used the play music downloader in PC and put my library on my storage. A few songs are showing up twice in my play music app, but not all. I can live with this I guess. Hopefully Google makes this easier in the future.

Google play music is crappie. I stopped using them a couple years ago. And again thank you for this app
No matter what I try I cannot get Allcast to stream music from google play music to my Apple TV or Roku stick and wanted to know if anyone else has tried this app with root and had any success?
Tried rebooting my router, installed the patch from Allcast multiple times, installed a newer version of SU and no dice it either finds nothing or sits there searching for devices and never finds anything at all.
If I turn on my chrome cast then it only ever see's the chrome cast and nothing else.
For reference Allcast see's all my media devices and I can stream to them fine it's just google play music, photo's and movies which ain't working.
Anyone?
Try going into settings then "share and connect" and take a look at the settings in media server. I had to enable this for streaming to work.
Hello,
I've got the exact same issue with my LG G3 ("searching for devices" in Play Music but ok through the app), did you find a solution ?
Thanks
Hello everyone, on my pc I've created a youtube playlist of videos. I've then gone to the amazon youtube app and logged in. Now most videos play fine, but the youtube app on Amazon fire stick won't play some, yet they play fine on the pc. Does anyone know why this is happening and if there is anyway to fix this?
Thanks
I followed the Forum Rules and searched but can't find anything on what surely must be a very frequently asked question.
I got a 3-month free trial of Google Play Music. Works fine on my phone so bought a chromecast audio and connected to amp+speakers, now I can cast and streamed music works as expected. BUT having unplugged my local media player I can no longer listen to my local media.
It's inconvenient having to plug and unplug all the time. How do I hack the chromecast audio device to stream from local machines as well as from Google Play Music?
Bubble upnp

It will stream a PC's audio to chromecast
The easiest solution if probably just to upload your music to Google Play Music. This will also allow you to initiate playback using a Google Home if you ever buy one.
it doesn't support directly playing local tracks, it requires uploading music to your library for playback.

The answer is in the first reply. Go read the thread on Bubble UPNP.
6.2.7.1
Kodi/Emby/Plex work fine, HBO Max/Netflix say they can't play it, Prime Video only plays audio.
I didn't read anything about the rooting process hindering your ability to watch anything on a streaming stick.
Still looking for a ROM that can pass do audio passthrough.
