Soooo I had to call tmobile warranty. My touch on the my screen no longer works. But what I find crazy is that for this to be a phone that is not just ALL touch im starting to wonder why even have a keyboard or am i just dumb? I cannot press send on a text if i want to send a message. I cannot even save a number 2 my contacts. With out the touch screen am I just SOL till my new phone comes in the mail? I can make phone calls my opening up the keyboard and using the arrow keys. But the limitations with this phone and no touch screen are ridiculous.
Just wondering am I not able to do NOTHING while my touch screen is out? If anything I want to send text messages and I cannot even do that. Any help? PLEASE ASAP THANKS! CED
so 20 people gladly view my post and out of the 20 no replies...wow
in your inbox for mms/text, press and hold H for a list of keyboard shortcuts. Press OK to get out of that list. press and hold key for desired shortcut. They are listed below:
H - List Shortcuts
A - Reply All
R - Reply
K- Mark Read/Unread
F - Flag
M - Move
O - Forward
D - Delete
L - Download Message
S - Send/Receive
But unfortunately, I can't figure out how to actually get the message to send once creating and typing it. Maybe you will have better luck.
Edit: actually you can use front facing buttonto get to start menu then use arrokeys and enter to navigate to (start->settings->personal->buttons), then you can set your ppt button or other button to left softkey and send that way... to get to set the button, use down arrow to get to the button you want, then right arrow once to highlight the "assign a program:" field, hit enter to expand that field, then scroll up or down with arrows to get to the <left softkey> (its at/near the top of the list), then hit enter and "OK" your way out of it. I'm assuming the version of the phone you have has the OK shortcut. You may need to soft reset afterwards, but should be good to go at that point.

The shortcuts are the same for his device, but you may have forgotten that the TMo version is unique in that it has no PTT button, no OK button (the enter key works fine to get rid of the shortcut box, however), and the Start button is actually a Home button. you could install tarkim's key remapper and set a hard key to the left soft button, but I haven't used this in a while and it may require some touch input.
Also, I use ZoomBarPlus which makes the zoombar function as a d-pad with up/down, action, and back keys. If you follow the instructions on the thread, you can omit the inbox from the default action and have ZoomBar work with it.
If these don't do it for you, then just wait it out for a couple of days. TMo sends these replacements out very quickly.
Thanks a lot !! worked like charm !!
Im from India , a place where TP2 is not released ( Can you believe that ?? ) , Hence no service for it..
So checking out some new mobiles or will wait for Q1 of 2011 ..

Don't thinks so... unless the app provides this (exit or something) but this is application specific.
Android depends on the back button, and the menu button.
I'll give you a example, i installed android on a Diamond. Now The diamond has 5 buttons in the front, 2 on the side, and one on the top.
The Dial and the other one are pretty obvious. The back key is just that, the BACK key. Now, the HOME key, is the menu key. I was missing the Home key, and really missing, like, how the hell do i get out of here?
Until i noticed, the Power button only powers the phone, it does not powers off.
When the phone is on, it acts as the HOME button.
Hardware keys, are a must on the droid...
You could use atools and reassign the back hardware button to one that works.
Ok, I have search and search around the web but cannot find answer. (sorry if this question has been asked but I did try and search)
At the moment say you have a short cut to an app on one of your home screen that is not the default home (centre screen), when you press the Home button to exit the application it returns you to the centre default home screen instead of the home screen you launched the app from. Is there anyway to change that or a patch to put on the phone?
I know you can press the back button to do this, but just wanted to know can it be done via the Home button.
I am on Sense 3.0 by the way, not using any other launcher.
You can't, when you press the Home button you basically launch the Home app, in your case Rosie, and it launches with your default home screen first.
To put it simply, you can't.

Oh well, I guess there wasn't any harm to ask... I do think it is a bit stupid in my opinion... hehe.
Hello everyone,
I'm using my phone with CM7 mod. I want to remove widgets and icons on home screen, trying to tap and hold specific icon, but nothing happens, phone just vibrates a little bit and that's it.. Tap and hold is not working only on home screen, in the menu it works. So please, if anybody knows the solution, i'll be very grateful for this.
Which launcher are you using?
click menu, then more and uncheck lock desktop
Hi,
I have the cheapest bluetooth mouse and keyboard going, so I'm not sure whats available in the high end. However I have notice that when navigating the SGS3 with a mouse I can not access any of the bottom buttons (menu, home, back). With the keyboard it is a bit easier since I can use the Esc key to control the back button. I'm not to worried about getting the home button, but I think it would be good to have access the menu button (bottom left). Sometimes I use a credit card stand and I'm a bit worried about knocking it over when I press the menu button.
Anyone know how to create a software version of the menu button? Or even better, does anyone know a keyboard or mouse trick to toggle it?
Cheers,
Stui
I found an App that will solve the problem

Ok, I went hunting around the Play Store and found 'External Keyboard Helper Pro' which enables the user to map whatever keyboard value to whatever Android function they want (and more). I was able to map the Home and Menu buttons to unused keys on the Bluetooth keyboard. I also discovered that Alt Tab switches tasks (but you have to touch or click the screen to stay on the task switch screen).
hope this helps anyone who is at this stage of PCing up their SGS3.
Sure helps. thanks mate.
I wish the same mapping can be done for the mouse, as most of the time i would use the mouse to navigate back and forth into and out of menus, currently i cant find a mouse that has a menu button and a home button.
If you click and hold you get the menu for an item, but not the main app menu.
Hi, by self-trying I've also discovered the following keys that work without any external software:
CTRL+ESC = Menu key
ALT+ESC = Home key
ALT+TAB = Task manager (briefly hit the two keys, then use arrows to select the app)
So, although after a year, you get your answer! :good:

Scroll wheel click is the Home button and right click is the back button. I can't find a way to do the Recents button, though.

Awesome. I had been searching for this for quite some time.
Is there a way to make the right click act as a long click instead? I have having to long click when you have a button performing functions that could be done in an easier fashion. Meanwhile, a true right click feature would be amazing.

All of the above is correct. Also, Mouse Button 4 (which normally maps to "Back" in the Browser) opens the recently opened programs view.
