Maguro Vs. Toro - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey guys ,
After long time away from my old samsung galaxy nexus , I was going to install new rom . I have selected 4.4.4. omni Toro , however , when i was going to install it i have ended up with an installation failure telling me that I'm using Maguro and this rom is Toro ..
Can I shift my devise from MAguro into Toro ?
What is the best Rom foe Maguro then ?

I fit says that your device is a Maguro one that means it is a GSM version, and the Toro one is the Verizon version also known as the LTE version. If you want to know for sure if your device is Maguro or Toro, install CPU-Z and go to the sytem tab, there should tell you if you are Maguro or Toro. Now to answer to your question? I think the best 4.4.4 ROM for GNex is ShinyROM. If you like your phone to look like it is stock, but to run the latest version, I suggest this ROM. If you like to customize your android, I recommend AOKP or Cyanogenmod.

help with verizon galaxy nexious

hi i just rooted my verizon galaxy nexus i have android version 4.0.4 im not sure what roms to use do they have to be compadable with 4.0.4 like the gummy or the the other roms i just dont know what to use i know how to flash ans all thats stuff can any one help me with my first rom please
Well. Most of the big roms out there are built off of Android 4.0.4 (Gummy, AOKP, CM, etc). But some like Android Revolution HD aren't. You can switch between Android-version based roms on a whim though, so just pick any you like!

latest paranoid android and problem

I have been looking in the verizon dev forum and dl'd PA 2.53. Def a upgrade from stock 4.1.1. BUt im curious in a few things. The 2.53 is a toro and there is a 2.54 i tried which is maguro. It ran into an error and wouldnt let it flash. Is it because its not fro a verizon phone or that i am on 4.1.1. Also what is the latest version of PAranoid android. The nexus stated i could download an update of 2.99 but i cant find the zip anywhere and his dl link only goes up to 2.54 which is in maguro. Is 2.53 the latest edition for the ver nexus?
Toro & maguro have different hardware... NEVER EVER try to flash toro on maguro or vice versa. that could brick your phone
even Sprint & Verizon have differences and you shouldn't try to flash a Sprint image (toro plus) on a VZW
PA toro 2.99 is available on Goo.im:
Code:
goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/toro/pa_toro-2.99-19NOV2012-162111.zip
Keep checking their official depository for their latest:

Awesome thanks guys one other question. If I flash 2.99 over 2.53 since I'm on PA now do I still need to wipe. Would rather not lose all my data and settings

You only need to wipe the cache, and maybe dalvik if you're upgrading within the same ROM or OS version
But it's recommended to start fresh when moving to another major update (GB to ICS) or another ROM (CM to AOKP)

Looking to install my first rom

So the current version of my I9250 Galaxy Nexus won't let me update to anything newer than 4.0.4 due to restrictions (checks for updates, and none are found). Can anyone recommend the best way to either install 4.2 or a rom that is even better? This is also my first time so ideally I hope there are some guides out there that have instructions for doing this all on Ubuntu or another linux based OS. Ideas?
Yakju - Takju ?
Maguro - Toro - Toroplus ?
Did you flash a custom recovery ?
Do you want a custom ROM or stock ?
Yeah a lot of questions, if you answer I can help you

I am going to download Paranoid android to my nexus 4. But i dont know which rom is the right one. In GOO.IM website there are two pages avaIable : PARANOIDANDROID. and PARANOIDANDROID_i9100. Also, I would like to know if among the roms available there is a stable one and which is the most stable.

LOL, you have a Nexus 4, right? Don't flash an i9100 ROM, that's for Galaxy SII, find one that says "mako". If you flash a ROM that isn't for your device, you will almost surely brick your phone.

Lovely thing about the nexus is that it virtually can't be bricked. Sure it will cause the phone to be stuck in a bootloop, or blackscreen after booting, but you can always get your phone in recovery or bootloader mode and reach it again.
Mind if I borrow the thread?
I have the verizion i535 gs3
flashed pa 2.5 have android 4.1.2 with a 3.0.46-cynogenmod kernel
now all I am getting is error after error like google playstore crashing, androidkeyboard aosp not working at all and .com.android.phone errors
Edit: will reply to other post

Are you using the correct ROM for your exact model Nexus?...
For example, you may have possibly downloaded Paranoid ROM for the Nexus 7 2012 model but you have the Neuxs 7 2013 or vice versa.
Which Nexus 7 do you have? Do you have the Nexus 7 2012 wifi only which is known as model -> Grouper.
Or do you have the Nexus 7 2013 WiFi only which is known as model -> FLO
Or do you have the Nexus 7 2013 4G/LTE which is known as model -> DEB
Since you have MultiROM installed don't worry you can't mess up your tablet. Just delete the Paranoid ROM and download the correct ROM for your exact Model and do the installation again.
*IMPORTANT*
Make sure when you are flashing Paranoid ROM in MultiROM that you choose "do not share kernel". That could be another reason why your ROM is not working with your tablet, you could have shared the kernel from your stock/internal ROM with Paranoid ROM which just won't work!
SIDE NOTE:
Paranoid ROM does not come pre-rooted. So if you want Root access with Paranoid ROM you are going to have to download the SuperSU.zip and boot into recovery, go to list roms, select your Paranoid ROM, and flash the supersu.zip so that you will have root access. Many people do not know that Paranoid ROM does not come with Root so i wanted to let you know so that when you do get the ROM installed your not going crazy trying to figure out why Titanium Backup won't work! =)
I hope this helps...
