Borked Recovery flash, wrong model - Galaxy Note 8.0 (Tablet) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

I accidentally flashed my Note 8 with a recovery made for a i9105p.
I can get to download mode.
If I try to restart the device I get
"Firmware upgrade encountered
an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies
& try again".
Kies doesn't recognize the device.
ODIN doesn't recognize the device. I think this is a communication
issue though.
Help appreciated.

Could not turn the unit off so it died overnight.
Surprisingly I re-connected in this afternoon
and ODIN found it. Attempted another flash
with the CORRECT recovery. It failed but re-
initialized the stock one. It's now working,
mostly.
Would love to understand why I can't flash a custom
recovery on this thing. Seems everything I've found
is for the original stock 4.1 version. I'm running 4.2.2
if that makes a difference. ODIN usually FAILS! and
resets stock recovery.
Any ideas?

Flashed with Terok Nor ROM 4.2.2.
Everthing is great now.

[Q] Did my phone get SDS? (GT-N7100)

My phone was no longer booting properly anymore and was stuck at the Samsung logo. I tried reflashing DN3 to no avail as it was still stuck on bootloop. Then, I researched a bit on XDA and found that perhaps reflashing stock would do it some good. So I flashed stock on ODIN and it failed like 75% there and now I am left with Samsung's error of death: "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. please select recovery mode in kies and try again".
Now I can still access download mode and it displays my device model, but I don't want to screw it up by flashing the wrong bootloader or w/e so that's why I'm here. Is there anything I can do at this point or just admit I got screwed by SDS?
By no means SDS, everything is fine :good:
What was your last stock? Try to get newest firmware from sammobile and try again or run Kies to restore your device.

problems

Hi,
Hi I was given an s3 sprint. It doesn't get past the sprint screen, but when plugged in it goes all the way until played with then it'll reboot. It does however go into download and recovery mode which leads me to believe its a software problem. The phone is not rooted/ fully stock. Could someone walk me through rooting, installing custom recovery and ROM via Odin? Also there seems to be no water damage. Per download mode:: binary-samsung official
System satus-official
Qualcomm secure boot enable
Warranty-0
Bootloader ap swaev-2
PS I already tried Odin but failed at aboot mbn. Now upon booting it reads ... firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again?
Pleas ask in here instead. Also first get the phone working by either flashing it using kies 2.6, or by using odin and flashing this image. Be sure to unzip it first.

Stuck in "blue" screen/odin and can't flash anything successfully

So I attempted to flash the renegade rom...do not think this has anything to do with that in particular, but now I'm stuck on the screen that says the software was not installed correctly. Holding down the power, volume up and home buttons will get me back to odin but when I try to flash anything in Odin (3.10.6), it gets about 20% done and fails. I can't get into the stock recovery again. Before this happened, I was on stock OI1 and had developer options up and bootloader option on , I tried to flash TWRP but kept getting an error, then I had flashed the unikernel (V6 I believe). The phone booted correctly, but the touch screen didn't work. I rebooted several time and tried again, still screen problem. I went into the stock recovery and did a factory reset, booted, screen still didn't work. I went back to odin tried to flash the G920PVPU3BOI1_G920PSPT3BOI1_G920PVPU3BOI1_HOME.tar, but it halted with the fail message at about 20%. Tried again, failed at same time point. Very frustrating because I've successfully rooted and installed multiple roms on my S4 and Evo prior.
At this point I am stuck in the blue screen that says you need to do smart switch to do an emergency recovery, I can get this over to odin, but not recovery. I tried both smart switch and Kies, and both say the phone isn't supported by the software(s). Yes, the drivers were installed prior to. I've tried waiting for the battery to discharge as well, nothing.
I'm at a loss of what to do now. Phone is inoperable and I can't even get into a screen that tells me anything about versions of hardware or software. The barcode is still intact and I can still get into Odin, but nothing more than that. Stock kernel to flash? Why won't odin finish the upgrades? Anything?
The phone is about to go in the trash...Help!

What I would recommend doing is to try using Kies 3 its pretty much Samsung's take on iTunes. It maybe able to help you. Otherwise, try redownloading the latest tar avabile which is: OJ7 also, try Odin v3.10.7

Thanks for replying.
I tried Kies and Smart Switch, but both did not recognize phone. I did manage to find out that TWRP has a sprint variant and that it seems to be incorrectly labeled in many posts. The sprint variant is 2.8.7.0 NOT 2.8.7.1. I managed to flash it in ODIN and now it boots into Recovery, which is a start. I tried applying the renegade rom, but it wouldn't finish and I'm left with a 'no OS detected, do you want to reboot?' from TWRP.
TWRP website isn't much help (but I love that product). At this point, still cannot tell what firmware is on device and where to go from here. I think I may need a recovery of some sort, but don't have. Tried flashing OJ7 tar as recommeded but it continues to fail when it hits the 'system' part of the download.
Still need advice/help....etc.
Since you are now in recovery, wipe everything!
Cache, System, Data, Internal Data and Dalvik Cache. After that, reboot into Odin and try restoring once more in odin. If that does not work, then wipe everything again and try installing Renegade once more.

Thank for the reply. I did just that and after installing Renegade with kernel version 8, three times, the phone is up and running. Really appreciate the help.

You should be able to use odin on your PC tp send an image to your phone.
Lookup, for example, how to root your phone in these threads.

Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Hello,
I have tried upgrading my SM-P600 via odin. I have used official 5.1.1 rom . I used default odin setting as usual, but during the upgrade windows showed unrecognized device message, and odin showed failed.
If I am trying to boot in any mode (even if I am plugging in charger) I am getting "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." I have attached an image.
Can anyone help explaining how can I solve this (if this is possible). Also I would like to know what could cause issue like this? I have been flashing stuff to android devices many times, had boot loops and other messy things, but download mode have always worked.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
I was able to fix this by myself. I was able to boot into download mode. I am not sure why it have started working. I just left device to fully uncharge, then charged it and download mode was accessable.
I have flashed older rom which I had P600UEUCND2_P600XARCND2_XAR and now everything fine. I will download 5.1.1 once again and will try to flash it (I did fresh windows install, because I think last time it was windows issue).

Weird n7100 bootloop

Hi i was helping my friend to update his firmware. after doing so the phone is now stuck in a weird bootloop. i had seen my fair share of bootloops but this seems weirder than others. the n7100 logo would loop very quickly (sorta like flash) and keeps doing so. can't enter recovery mode at all, only download mode. plug it to odin and whatever i can throw at it i just got nand write start fail, be it twrp, multiple versions of stock rom. im at the end of my wits, so what should i try next? thank you for any input
What is the Odin error when trying to flash the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com? Tried different USB cables and USB ports?
I kinda have/had the same problem.
N7100 logo would bootloop quiet fast (doesn't get to the point where it should load the rom).
Can't enter recovery bc of that.
Only thing that works is download mode.
After trying to flash newest stock rom (4.4.2) it failed once (I think my cable gets too old...)
Next try it worked without a problem.
Problem persists.
Next step was flashing an older repair firmware (4.1.2) but it failed (I think bc of the 4.4.2 bootloader? IDK)
Then I tried to flash the newest stock again but with the pit file. Flashed without a problem but the problem was still there.
Last step I made was to flash the newest stock with the pit file and nand erase + update bootloader.
Tried it 2 times but it failed.
Now I'm stuck on the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again."
Download mode got a red message also: "RPMB: INVALID RPMB DATA"
I don't know what to do now. Please help.
PS: It was a "new" motherboard from aliexpess, it had a chinese version of the stock 4.1.2 if I remember right and was already rooted when I installed it. I wanted to flash the newest 4.4.2 for the new modem and stuff and then upgrade to lineage. :/
