Samsung Video Player - How to play next video in folder? - Galaxy Tab S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
I watch a lot of Anime and i have folders on my microsd with the video files inside and every file starts with 001, 002 ect followed by the title of the series, but in Samsung Video player when i click the play next file right arrow, it plays the video of completely different series that begins with 001 in a completely separate folder, instead of playing 002 of the current series, if i have 10 series it will play all 10 files 001 before it starts playing all of the file 002, why is it doing this? , is there a setting i need to change?
I want to use the Samsung video player as it has rgb sensor support.
Thanks
John.

Sounds like the Samsung player scans for media in storage and arrange everything in alphabetical order rather than folder structure. Other than that I don't know what to tell you. I use MXPlayer myself

Video Codec

I have an XDA11 and wish to show avi/divx etc movies on it once they have been put on an sd card and viewed through windows media player 9. These are currently not playable with the standard unit
Does any one know where to getvideo codecs for these

How do you covert and add ripped dvds to dash?

I have ripped movies from dvds and converted them to mp4 (320 X 240). I then added them to my storage card through windows media player. When I play the movie on my phone using wmp or tcmp, the audio is good but the video is choppy and blurry.
Can anyone please give me advice or point me to a source that may help.

You need DVD wizard............!
I use Clone DVD mobile myself works great. Once you get it installed open it up and click on the + next to other devices. select windows smartphone click next, click the button next to DVD video files and browse to the dvd or Video_TS folder on your hard drive, do any editing there you want or not, click next, click next again, under resolution select 320x240, under enter file name to write click the button and browse to where you want to save the output file, under label put the name of the movie, under letterbox try the 3 settings to see which one you like best and hit go. When its done copy it over to your storage card on your phone with active sync explorer and use TCPMP player or Windows Media Player to watch the movie. The finished file size runs from 400mb to 650mb depending on the movie length. I was very impressed with the quality of the movies on my dash. I'll have to give DVD Wizard a try first I've heard about it. Anyways hope this helps.
Converting ripped DVD's to run on a Dash
Hi,
I tried the trial version of Clone DVD Mobile but got terribly out of sync audio/video also a lot of chunky replay. I wrote to their tech support and got pretty good responses from one of their staff, but the end result was that it didn't work. At first we blamed the retention of the original 29.97fps as too heavy for the Dash's meager processor, but even when I edited the ini file to transcode at 15fps the problem continued.
I have copy of Womble Mpeg Video Wizard DVD on my machine which I generally use for editing TV shows I have recorded to my hard drive before burning to DVD-RW's for watching in the living room.
I poked around with it and it would allow me to transcode the .Vob files to mp4 files for an iPod @ 15fps. That worked like a charm. then just number the files sequentially so they play in the right order.
Basically any video editor or transcoding software that will allow you to convert a .vob file (found by exploring the DVD) to an ipod format will work
Good luck
i havent converted one in a while but i use dvd fab decrypter 4 platinum. which has the option to rip file from dvd to mobile. Then if i want to stetch a widescreen image to it fills the whole screen, i use pocket divx encoder
BTW... there's also a dvd fab mobile edition thats available too!

Have not tried it but here's one
GAOTD is offering a free one today...
Not sure how well it is but worth a try.

Best music player on the Desire

What is the best music player on the Desire ?
Something that ideally supports mp3, m3u, flac, wmp, wav ogg
Stock supports MP3 and WAV. Flac is supported if you root and install CyanogenMod. I haven't found any player capable of playing M3U, WMP or OGG yet.
I'm pretty sure MortPlayer plays .ogg (brilliant music player BTW) - I could be wrong though...
If installing CyanogenMod allows for flac playback then then pushes me that much closer towards rooting my device - just need the courage as I've heard one or two stories of people bricking their phones. I wouldn't consider myself that much of a noob with these things but I hope someone can come up with a noobs guide to rooting your Desire...
TuneWiki is the best, has more than just music playback!

Ahem... The built-in player supports playing OGG files...
Thanks for the tips. I prefer MortPlayer which can play my files even if they are not perfectly rendered ID3 tags and have no album cover.
One thing that annoys me about most of the newest phone on the market is that it requires you to create a playlist of some sort.
Back in the days when most players would work just by simply playing all the files inside a folder.

Meridian can do that. You can navigate through your sdcard, long press the desired folder and play all (and a few other options)

Not mine it doesn't. Copy and pasted files into a directory and played. Not until a few days later did I set up a few playlists. This was using the stock player but was also playing around with TuneWike and 3 at the same time.

Thats something thats annoyed me too. I just want to play files in my folders, not spend ages making a playlist........ Just downloaded Meridian and its doing what I want. Thanks for the tip off.
I just make sure all the tracks within a folder have the same 'Album' name, that way when you sort by album, they're all grouped correctly.
You can do this in Windows by highlighting all the tracks within a folder, then right click and go to "Properties | Summary | Advanced" and update the 'Album Title' field.
It can be instant, or take a minute or so to update the album name, depending on what type of ID tag it uses.

[Q] DLNA with Sony Bravia TV

Hello guys ! I have an Sony Bravia Engine TV - KDL-40EX500. The TV has DLNA but when I try to steam a video with my One X this error Pops up - ''Sorry, this video cannot be played. (714)'' Can Somebody Please help me !!! Thanks !
I have the very same problem with my Sony Bravia TV.
Pictures play well, fast, and reactive. But when I try to play a video I get the same message you get.
Sad. But I guess that the problem is on Sony rather than HTC (I'm able to play to other devices). Maybe they do not follow completely the DLNA specification?
I will try out some different formats and resolutions becouse I have tryed only 1080p... maybe 480p .avi or .mp4 would run ?
This is what I found:
I own a Sony Bravia KDL46EX503 and have WAISTED many hours trying to find what formats the DLNA client supports.
First thing to note, there are file formats and there are video codecs BOTH are important. For example you can have an AVI file format containing video data that requires the AVC codec to play it. On a similar basic you can have an MP4 file format containing video data that requires the AVC codec to play it. However even though the Sony DLNA client can play AVC video data it does not recognise either the AVI or MP4 file format! Why? If you no the answer please tell me!
The Sony DLNA client for the KDLxxEX serries TV supports the following file formats:
MPEG-PS (.mpg or .mpeg) and must contain video data for MPEG version 2 codec.
BDAV (.mts or .m2ts) and must contain video data for the AVC codec.
Audio data must be in either MP3 or AC3 codec formats. To be certain that the audio will work you are best advised to use the AC3 format. (you can use either 2ch or 5.1ch )
Please do not waist any time with any other formats unless Sony have specifically told you that they now support them.
I have been successful at streaming both MPEG2 and AVCHD to my Sony via Twonky Media Server all other formats DO NOT work.
Given that a Sony TV that supports DLNA clients are not cheap I do find their attitude to supporting multiple file formats very arrogant. In particular I do not understand why they only support the MP4 and DIVx formats on the USB?
How difficult is it? Well my 10" Polaroid picture frame with wireless connection supports every format (except DIVx) that I have thrown at it so far. It recognises AVI, MP4, MPEG2, MPEG1, WMV all with various codecs including VIDx and AVC!
Come on Sony get with the picture (pun intended)!

Soo I think it will play MPEG... soo if we want videos we have to Convert them on the PC....
Well, the comfort of streaming from the phone was exactly to avoid sitting at the computer.
Anyway, for now I am using the following alternative:
The phone is set to autoupload on Dropbox whatever I shoot on the camera. Then I use the TV to access my pc, navigate to the Dropbox folder, and play the video (the PC does the transcoding automatically).
Everything works fine. The only thing is that one needs to switch on the pc.
You could try using Twonky Mobile https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pv.twonkyremote&hl=en
I don't have a Sony Bravia TV, but I used to have issues streaming to my Sony PS3 with some video formats. With Twonky I can stream every format that I could play via USB.
is it a 1080 recorded video you're trying to play? I found that 720 videos play fine - but the 1080 videos were actually 1920x1088 - and that extra few pixels was upsetting my TV (Samsung C6000). I logged it with HTC who raised a bug report. Other than that, haven't heard anything.
Sony DLNA
Sony have just released some new software that gets over the DLNA file compatibility issues. Optimised for BRAVIA, Blu-Ray and PS3.

Sonia Bravia - Playing videos from an external HD
I have a Sony Bravia KLD-46EX750.
I can view and play some videos wireless from an external HD but some I cannot even see in the folder. I am trying to find out why this is. If anyone can help in anyway please post.
- All files are avi. Some I can see and some I cannot.
- I used to be able to see several folders in the videos section but I can now only see the one folder.
- At first I though maybe the Bravia could only thumbnail a certain amount of videos, so as we atched them we moved them to other folders. The list is just getting smaller.
- I cannot find any refresh selection.
I would like to know:
why I can only see one folder and
why I cannot see all videos

Confused about video playback - Tab 3 10.1

Hi.
I've recently got the Tab 3 and love it. Only problem at the moment is MP4 playback. I have MP4 files that plays on my PC (VLC) and plays on my S4 (VLC) but it does not play on my Tab (also VLC)... I've tried about 8 movie players and all have the same problem. All my other MP4 files work on all my devices.
Out of ideas.
I have been using mobo player by mobo team for a long time. So far I think I've run into one file extention that did not play right away, and all I had to do is add the extention type to the player through it's options and viola it played. I even play my audiobooks through it as it saves position on exit and allows screen off while continuing to play. Good luck.

I'll give that a quick go, thanks.
Nope - still not playing those files
Solved!
It's my sd card that corrupts the files... Just transfered the same files to the internal storage and it plays just fine. Weird that only some files gets corrupted
