[Q] Screen replacement help - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I need help regarding my Lg g3, model number is D858 HK dual sim. My outer screen lens cracked but the screen underneath works but of course the touch is not working probably. My questions are:
- Is my phone screen is the same as other lg g3 models like the single sim ones or since it is dual sim then the cable that fit to the board is different?
- How can I buy the proper screen? And do I have to buy the whole screen including the LCD as well?

1) From looking at the listing on aliexpress im pretty sure it is the same as the D855 edition.
2) Buy from aliexpress. Yes you have to buy the whole thing, unless you want to apply the adhesive that glues the lcd and digitizer together yourself which is nearly impossible to do
3) Please be careful, aliexpress has some shady people. I bought a Nexus 5 screen once off it and it was broken when i recieved it in the mail. In your case there is also the possibility that lcd isnt a 2k screen

Thanks for the reply.
Actually I looked at aliexpress which comes in Google search intensively. The point is a couple of workshops told me its different while on ebay and aliexpress it shows it's the same screen. That's why I'm confused and decided to seek help here. The other thing is I would like to go for the whole thing complete but I was worried to buy it fofrom unreliable source and pay that much. So I need a good source.

Checked Aliexpress one more time and found no information about any of the screen is 2K. Does this mean there is no real replacement here for a cracked device? or better buy the glass lens only? please advise

If you search ebay for 'g3 genuine screen replacement' or something similar you'll find what you need, they also state that the display is QHD (1440p). Costs around $150.

Hello,
the digitizer touch screen is interchangeable for all lg g3 models.
The LCD+touchscreen is interchangeable, too.
But the LCD+touchscreen+frame is not interchageable.
This is the part you may need:

Were you able to solve this problem using D855 screen on D858? I have the same issue. Replacement screens for D855 are available at my location but not for D858.

I switched motherboard from my D855 (EU) into D852 (canada) and it works perfectly..so screens are same.. only thing I noticed was back cover - specifically NFC antenna has 4 (EU) vs 2 (CAN) contacts...

I am wondering the same thing. Every digi/LCD I find says i9300 and i747. But I read that the housing is different . Anyone?
I don't see why not...same specs except for the intetnals. They are sold as compatible

Doesn't work, the housing is not the same. You have to buy the version without frame and chassis and glue the new lcd+digitizer glass on the old chassis.
I fixed mine this way.
If you buy I9300 International LCD+digitizer glass + assembly the back housing will not fit the chassis assembly properly on T-mobile and AT&T S3 models.

Hey, guys.

So I encountered this issue at work, (I work at a repair shop,) and ran as many button combo's, i.e. power + up / down etc, and the only way I resolved the issue was to throw another i9300 lcd assembly on it. Fired right up, the customer dropped his and must have damaged something on the assembly. We order direct OEM parts, but ebay has plent of them for around 160$ good luck!

LG G3 858hk Broken Screen, Where Can I Buy Replacement?

lg g3 858 hk broken screen and frame

On market in my country is only lcd touch screen plus digitizer plus frame only for version LG G3 855. Can someone tell me, if this screen with frame would work with my D858HK version? If not, where can I buy Lcd+digitizer+golden frame for 858hk version?
solved
@namor_svk what did you do? did you buy a screen? where from?
check PM
My 858HK also has broken glass, I tried but d855 lcd did not fit as dual sim has different panel to single sim phones.
Can anyone help find a solution to this?

This forum is for the i747 and i747m version of the s3. You have the international version and there is a separate forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3
The digitizer is the glass on top of the LCD that senses touch. The LCD is what you can see on the phone's screen.
I recommend replacing the digitizer and screen together as the digitizer is bonded to the LCD.
It may not be so simple because it may not be the LCD that is defective. It could be the the phone's motherboard too.

Yeah, the cost of replacing the LCD and digitizer with a really OEM Samsung is expensive which is why I look for used phones with working screens.

Infamous screen tearing :(

So my beloved ZE551ML which has 2½ years now has the infamous screen tearing, like found in a lot of thread like this one:
https://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-67186-1-1.html
As it happens even in the first bootloader that displays the message that my device is unlocked, I know it's not a SW problem but HW one...
Does changing the LCD hard? has to play with glue and heatgun? Can I buy the LCD with the bezel of some kind so it'll be easier?
Or do I buy a new phone? LG G5 or something?

very first of all, i would suggest you to flash raw firmware with commands. and after first startup perform a factory reset. if the problem remain same. order a new LCD with frame from china.

Changing the screen is not terribly difficult. I've done it. There are several YouTube videos on how. Cost me about $20. And solved the problem.
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using Tapatalk
Yeah I saw the videos. I changed screen on Nexus7 (on two tablets, pain in the ass) and MotoG2, so I bought the zenfone2 screen with the frame, should take 10 minutes to change, no heat gun, no messy glue.

LG V35 ThinQ screen replacement. Impossible to find one.

Hello. Has anybody done screen replacement on this phone? All sellers says that LG V30 and V35 screens are the same. But in reality they only look the same. I've done testing of 3 pieces of V35 screens on 2 different LG V35 units and can confirm that there're compatibility issues. So I can't get proper V35 screen anywhere, stuck with broken one. Maybe someone knows where to get one?

LG will replace it for you in "out of warranty" repair. You send it to their repair center. Here in U.S., it's in Texas.
For V30, cost $146 which includes return shipping from them. V35 cost is probably about the same.
My wife dropped her phone in gravel strewn parking lot. Hit rock and cracked. $146 fixed it with IP68 rating intact.

Hm, I'm far away from the USA unfortunately. V30 screen replacement is not a problem at all. Screens are widely available for this model and I can do repair by myself. I just can't source V35 screen anywhere.
Edit: (Nevermind, didn't see your text about compatibility issues) So, even a LG V35 used screen is not being compatible with another LG V35? That is strange and good to know.
Why don't you buy a broken for parts phone on eBay like this one:

There is no problem with using used V35 screen as replacement at all. It's just very hard to find it in good condition (without burns in and noticeable scratches). All I wanted to say that all screens for LG V35 currently sold on eBay or AliExpress are not V35 screens at all. They all V30 screens and sellers mark them as V35 to move the stock faster.

Are you certain that lg v30 outer glass won't be compatible with lg v35 outer glass ?
I searched ebay for "v35 replacement screen" and there's quite a few options offered
I too am now in need to replace the screen on V35. Screen with frame makes no sense to buy it's too costly: $100+, easier to just buy a used phone.
Have anybody here performed a glass screen-only replacement like they did in old times, with LOCA glue and such? Please post here if you did and of it's working.

Would love to know this as well.
If you did, how was the process and which equipment did you have access to to perform the actual repair?

I did and my process was pretty fast: started the unglue process as usual, got screen ruined, gave up. Screen is much more fragile than in the old days, ungluing one without breaking it would probably require some major equipment

Oh Man.
Sorry to hear the repair went sour.
How do you feel about having LG do the repair at this point?

Doesn't really make sense. Cheaper to get a non broken used phone on eBay. As additional bonus I can get att variant with Android 10. Old phone could lay down for now. Perhaps I can use it for replacement battery or even motherboard
