[Q] Recover data from softbrick/bootloop? - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a T-Mobile G3 that is stuck on the T-Mobile logo screen whenever I turn it on. No root, custom recovery, or usb debugging, and I'm pretty sure it's updated to the latest version. This problem started out of nowhere this morning. I really need to get some pictures and videos off of it, and I'm hoping there's a way to do so. Any help is welcome. Thank you.

[Q] Stuck at AT&T logo. Please help copy files to PC.

Hello
My G Pro was working fine this morning, and all of the sudden, it rebooted itself and got stuck at At&t boot logo. No matter what I do, it never gets past this point. It can boot into TWRP but that's pretty much it.
Actually, I can just follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660 or use TWRP to fix the problem. However, this morning I just filmed a video which I didn't have any chance to back up, and I really want to copy it to my PC before wiping all the data on my phone.
Could anybody help me, please?
If you guys need any additional info, please let me know. Thank you much.

Try and see if this helps, reboot to recovery and in TWRP find the "mount usb" option and select it, plug your phone in to the PC and see if you can see the drive in "my computer", if you can then find your file and copy it to where you want. I do not use TWRP now, I use CWM but I used to do that all the time with my Galaxy Note without any problems.
Hope it works.
Erik
Thanks a lot for your reply. It's greatly appreciated.
I'll try to see how it goes. I'm gonna have to reflash my phone soon since I need it for work.
did u tried going to safe mode ?
holding down vol while booting?

Stock T-mobile G2 suddenly stuck in bootloop. No update. Want to backu

So, 2 nights ago I was just sending a message to someone when my phone rebooted. I wasn't downloading an update to my knowlege. Now it won't boot mostly. I can't get into download mode either. If I wait about an hour then hold the power button it will start and get to my home screen. It will stay on for about a minute then shut off and give me a LG splash screen or the t-mobile screen. When attempting to enter download mode I get the 8 red flashes. If I just leave it plugged into my laptop I'll get the charging screen. If I then power up, after some time my computer will recognize it's com port and modem but not as a hdd. There are files I absolutely need for work and school and they haven't been backed up. What does the craftiest android user do in this situation? I can get to the factory wipe screen. But, I really can't just wipe this phone yet. Help me PLEASE! I've watched hours of videos and read so much over at xda and haven't found anything that quite suits my situation other than a factory wipe. There's gotta be another way.
I can't get into the boot loader. Volume up and power only starts the boot loop again. Can't do download mode. I have gotten it to boot a few times but only for a second before restarting and giving me the LG screen
I've tried both the LG pc Suite and the Lg mobile support tool and tried the "restore upgrade errors" approach. Keeps getting to the end and telling me that the phone isn't charged. It's 100% charged. I have the ability to make videos but I wont have time until Sunday.
Can't get into fastboot. Fast boot for PC starts opens and shuts instantly. I also have the Minimal ADB and fast boot but it says it doesn't recognize a device.
I read another post where a nexus user had a similar issue and was able to root with CWM, though I believe he must have been able to get into the download mode.
This is stock. I've rooted my old galaxy S2 but kept this one stock. I've only skimmed the surface as far as the knowledge and ability many of you have and I'm hoping you have some kind of method of fixing this or at least eliminating the things I could try.
Very sorry for such a long post. It's late and I'm loopy. Thanks in advance for your help.
Pretty please!
You are in the wrong section my friend. This is T-mobile HTC G2 (aka HTC desire Z) section.
Thanks...
Oh, that makes a lot of sense! oops. Thanks.

stuck on LG boot screen not rooted

Hey guys my verizon g4 is stuck in bootloop and im not rooted, i cant get the past the lg boot screen, it stays on their for around 20 seconds goes black and back to lg screen.
I can get into recovery but none of the options do anything ive tried safe mode, usb debug mode i even tried factory reset they all just go back to the lg screen.
I was just watching a video on facebook when it froze restarted and now im stuck, ive been restarting it all day and i was able to get it to boot up twice but it froze again within seconds any help is appreciated
it might be the defective motherboard issue that people are having. you could try reflashing the system, but if that doesn't work you probably need a new motherboard/phone
Not an answer, but an experience.
I have an HTC ONE M8, VZW. I s-offed it and rooted it right when I got it. I began adding some of my google apps and it did what your G4 is doing, stuck on VZW screen.
Since I was s-off I was able to get a recovery in and ready. I was able to get a custom rom onto the phones external sd. I flashed it with the recovery and the flash took, no more vzw screen lock up.
Your experience makes me wonder what VZW is doing to force bootloops on unlocked or rooted phones with their retail products. Paranoid maybe, but I can see VZW deliberately adding code to stick it to rooted users.....................................I say this still knowing that many have rooted the current run of devices without issues...........................
luck
i read about the problems with the motherboard going bad, im assuming thats what happened to mine. Lg sent me a replacement under warranty
Update!
i called verizon they sending me a replacement. just to let you know i flashed 13B KDZ but the bootloop was still there i let my phone on and finally turned on quickly i did a factory reset and booted up normal and its working again. still im gonna send it back. just sharing my experience maybe for other people might work too.

What is the 13B KDZ and how did you flash it? Im having same exact issue.
My G4 tanked over the weekend. I was browsing news and the phone locked up, then it shut off and turned back on. It just bootloops now. If I stick it in the freeze for a few minutes, sometimes it will boot to the OS where it starts to optimize the apps. It will get through about 20 before it shuts off and starts the bootloop process again. I haven't even been able to get the download mode to stay on, and when it does enter download mode, it is not detected by the computer. I think my problem is the motherboard. I'm just hoping that they aren't able to figure out I had it rooted!
I'm still waiting to hear back from Verizon about a replacement.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can flash a stock rom back on this thing to try to save my tail? I am betting not since the phone won't stay on long enough to even flash the rom.

My phone was rooted and got into the bootloop also and I sent it in as is and nothing happened. So I think it would be fine to send it without the stock rom.

They mailed me a new one, no battery, no back. I put my battery, sim card, sd card, and back on the new phone, fired it up. Rolled it back, rooted it, then I mailed the old one back.
Personally, I love this phone, but I think I will be getting a nexus next.

[PROBLEM] Not Bootloop - Please help [Intesting post]

Good evening everyone,
I come to you guys with a very particular problem. The LG G4 in question is an H815T (Asian variant). Let me clarify right now, it was not bootlooping. This one was getting STUCK at the LG logo, it didn't restart to it multiple times, it just got stuck there one day after turning off by itself. It did go into the download mode, though.
It went into the first part of the recovery, but when you selected that you wanted to factory reset, it got stuck there. The only way to get it out of the logo or the stuck recovery was taking the battery out. Interestingly enough, the phone DID charge at the stuck logo, albeit not so much due to the screen being constantly on at full brightness.
An even more interesting fact... I managed to fix it! I flashed the KDZ corresponding to the latest LP for the H815T, after the process was done, it did bootloop. I found the YouTube video about flashing a certain file to deactivate most of the cores and said "what the hell have I got to lose?"
Flashed the KDZ and.... VOILA! It showed the Recovery Android doing its job at Format Resetting !
Something even crazier... The phone booted into AndroidLP, I was worried about the cores thing, but the phone seemed to work at full speed... I was surprised to run HWmonitor and notice that all of the cores were active. The phone was fully working!!! Or so I thought... Now I have TWO problems:
I cannot update to MM. If I try to update from the phone itself (because it does say there's a new version available) I go back to being stuck at the LG logo.
When I make a call the screen goes off... nothing I do will turn it on, and if the other person does not hang up, the phone will remain locked. However, if I plug in a headset everything works normally.
Is there anything I can do about these two problems? Please, leave your comments and questions, I think this phone is pretty weird and I found nothing else like it on YouTube or here on XDA.
Take care :good:!
Idk for the call but for the mm you could try using something like lg mobile update tool... Something like that.
Be warned cuz i dont know if it will bootloop.

Got it! The sensors thing was definitely it for the screen problem. I also read this is very common with many screen protectors in 5.1.
Do you have any ideas regarding the issue updating to MM?

All good, Willy! Even is you're stuck at the LG logo, take your battery out, or it back in BUT DON'T TURN IT ON... Instead, try to access DOWNLOAD MODE. If you're able to do it, you can flash any KDZ you want, but be careful.

Yes ur right using a heavy screen protector will block all the sensors so ya try removing it... No issues in MM u can try OTA through wifi

STUCK in bootloop, HELP?

Hi XDA! Need some help if anyone can offer ideas. This morning while having my morning joe my HTC 10 capacitive keys stopped working. So I did the obvious thing and attempted to restart the device, after which it ended up in a bootloop. It'll go to the HTC splash screen, scree will go dark and it reboots. Rinse, repeat.
I have tried to go into download mode by pressing volume down and it won't boot to that screen either. The download mode 'HTC' logo comes up and again it reboots back to the standard splash screen after a minute.
The most I can do it get into bootloader mode. And from there I can not get into recovery or download mode in order to try an RUU. I have it plugged into the charger right now and there is no charger light. I tried to run RUU.exe from the PC and it says the device is less than 30% battery so it can't continue the RUU.
The phone is S-OFF and bootloader unlocked however I was running the stock US unlocked software - no root, no other modifications.
Any ideas fellow XDA'ers? I'm afraid I have a bricked device, which is strange since I didn't do anything unusual with it, other than s-off and bootloader unlock, change the CID and MID, in order to convert the t-mobile device into the unlocked US version.
Any suggestions much appreciated!
Did you ever figure out how to fix your phone, @Acheman. I'm having the same exact issue and i'm not sure i'll ever get my phone working again.

Sorry! I was never able to fix it. Unfortunately I bought it second hand so I didn't bother trying to contact HTC directly. I ended up selling the phone as is on swappa boneyard. Saw some other threads floating around with a few other users experiencing the same thing. No one mentioned getting it fixed.
Best of luck, it's a shame some people are experiencing this strange issue.
