Hi,
Lately I've decided selling my iPhone and move to android.
After checking the top devices that android offers I had come up with 3: LG G3, HTC One M8 and Samsung GS5.
I'm having a terrible time deciding between them, although I'm kind of leaning towards the LG G3, and that's why I'm posting this here.
After some research done, I found a bunch of people saying that there's some lag while using it, and I wanted to ask you guys:
As an iPhone user migrating to android, will I find the lag noticeable and a bothersome?
Also, are we expecting to have an unlocked bootloader anytime soon or is it not worth waiting for?
It seems there is no better way other than trying for yourself. Some people say, Android lags badly compared to iOS and Windows Phone. Some don't seem to notice lag. And some don't care about the lag. People are different.

Yeah, yet feeling it for 5 minutes in the store won't give me as much experience and information as will users who use this phone on a daily basis, don't you think?
Idk, as I've never owned an iPhone, but like yurly said, it is all about preference, I don't see lag on my g3, but then again, I've never owned a phone that ever really "lagged" (besides my Samsung moment) but I know people who have gone to Android and loved it, but i also know people who have gone to Android and hated it... And the bootloader will come with time...

It's all preference at the end of the day, but you really can't go wrong with any of the 3 devices you listed.
Well an iphone is pretty much just an app drawer lol. Ive owned several iphones including 5s. After iOS 6.0 it all went downhill. I will admit i am an android fanboy and im spoiled by how much customization android has and how open it is compared to iOS.
In terms of the best android phones, i think the HTC One M8 could have been the greatest android device to ever launch but HTC chose to go with the mediocre 4.0 megapixel camera. I dont care what others say, the camera is terrible compared to others. I had to sell my M8 because of that. I personally dont like samsung phones because the bezels the phone has, and im not too big on the plastic build. The G3 is my second LG device and its an amazing phone.SD card slot, removable battery, 2k screen, laser focus, 13mp shooter, OIS, 3gb ram, quad core, i could go on. All those features to me make a great device. My biggest gripe about the G3 is that i have all these amazing features with a locked bootloader....
I just damaged my phone with water and now I'm thinking of getting a new one.
My dilema is between G3, Htc One(M7), Nexus 5 and either of the Xperia Z/Z1/Z1 Compact.
Can you guys share some opinions which you think is best performer, battery life etc?
THaks

I actually decided getting an Android phone because of the customization and my growing haterd towards Apple.
As to the HTC One M8, it seems amazing, and the only thing that makes me consider the other phones is the camera. I don't want a ****ty one, period. Your feedback only makes me strengthen my opinion.
About the LG, however, my main concern is the lag mentioned by a bunch of people. You, as a previous iPhone user, don't feel annoying lags while using it?
And also, about the S5, on paper, besides the screen maybe (and the 3GB RAM), it's all-round equal or better than the LG.. And I was thinking that with flasing a ROM that doesn't contain the usual **** Samsung provides, it'd be an even better choice?

There's no point to get a nexus 5 now with the nexus 6 coming out this year. For the M8, the camera was mediocre. The S5 has 2gb of ram not 3, and as to comparison, the LG on paper is way better than the galaxy S5. In real world specs, my wife has an S5 and my G3 has better battery life, better stock rom, more ram, and in my opinion a better camera. People say the G3 lags, mine doesnt much, it could be the stock LG rom is so heavy, which it is, but not as near as heavy as bloated touch wiz samsung roms lol. Once LG bootloader is unlocked this phone will be the best phone on the planet. Also, all three of the phones you're looking at have way better battery life than iphones lol.
Its not my phone to pick, but if you want me to pick for you id pick LG G3. If the bootloader isnt unlocked within the next few months sell to get S5 or Note 4. Also i hate BEZELS AROUND A SCREEN (LIKE GALAXY AND IPHONE) I LIKE THE FRONT TO BE MOSTLY SCREEN NOT SCREEN WITH UGLY BEZELS AROUND IT.....

Before G3 I had M7 and it was amazing phone. I would get M8 but it didn't felt good in my hand. I love G3 but I still think M8 is better. All depends what you want from the phone. G3 without some modifications will lag quite often. HTC has the smoothest stock experience. You have to try them to make sure wich one is for you.
I would go with the G3, but depending on your provider I've read that this phones bootloader is locked meaning you cant install a custom rom or os if thats important to you. Thats NOT a dealbreaker for me at all I love my G3 and still able to root my G3 I customized it the way I want.
Really great phone, very easy to customize, im not a heavy user so I get through the day just fine with the battery, yes I charge it at work but again it gets me through the day. Years ago I started with a iphone 3g and then made the switch to android been with the samsung galaxy line all the way up to the Galaxy S4, then jumped to the LG G3 this is my very first LG phone and I could not be happier. I found on my Samsung S4 the lagging especially during gaming was driving me crazy. Also I found there was so much more bloatware crap on my samsung phone compared to my new LG G3. Yes the LG has bloatware but much less the S4.
It really depends on what you want and the feel of the phones in your hand when using. My G3 im happy with, you may have to get use to the buttons in the back and also the android os...... iphone was pretty much plug it in and your done. Androids a little different but I prefer android.
I personally hate apple devices I have just come from a note 3 to a g3 for my first lg device so far I like it only lag I seem to have noticed is when opening messages but its like any device don't close unused apps and it will hang, at least I can easily get a full day usage out of any android unlike apples terrible battery and imo once you have an iPhone you have had them all same s*** different bucket but of course that is my opinion

I just bought the G 3 to upgrade my Galaxy S 4. I looked seriously at the G 5 and the OneX M8. What I did was to spend some time figuring out what features I did or did not like personally. What I came up with was the biggest gripe I have had personally with any smartphone was having the power and volume buttons on the sides of the phone. Since I habitually carry in my left shirt pocket, I stopped looking at anything over the largest size phone that fit the brand of shirt I wear. I was ALWAYS inadvertently powering off the phone or resetting the volume, I was to the point where I was accustomed to it and had pretty much learned to live with that, but didn't really like it much. I also wanted a removable back cover ans an SD slot. I also am in areas where data signals don't work well, so cloud storage is not a really good alternative. I also wanted the ability, out of the box, to decide where stuff went, either to internal or to SD storage. I would have preferred LG took the same stance as Samsung on offering a waterproof dustproof phone, but this is not the case.
I didn't care for the HTC camera or the Sense UI, but could learn to live with sense OK if all else was well. Good phone, not so good camera. I am also sort of tired of the way Samsung has gotten so obnoxious with bloat and as far as I am concerned they can put Knox where the sun don't shine. Verizon is bad enough here, but the combination of the two is sort of overbearing.
So, I wound up with the LG G 3. I am really happy with it. It literally blows the socks off the S 4 in terms of call quality and signal strength. The S 4 simply is like the junior high playing ball against the high school varsity. Th G 3 GPS is about the same degree better than the S 4. I call the camera of the G 3 and the S 4 a draw. I don't feel the G 3 quad HD screen is particularly world bending, but is just about perfect for my tastes. I can sure see where some like the Samsung view, but the Samsung colors look...well for me they look almost artificial. However that is a strictly personal deal, YMMV. I really like the button placement of the LG. Out of the box the LG experience is, just like they say, simpler and better.
The battery life of the LG is MUCH better than reviews led me to expect. I am not a gamer or power user, but I can get two days of use between charges. Better battery life than the S 4.
I have the stump root apk downloaded and will root it to remove the bloat I don't want. The Android OS has come far enough that for me anyway, the desirability of custom ROM flashing is not such a big deal as it once was. I have the feeling the LG G 3 will catch on enough we will see some more active development in this regard in the near future.

Hey all! I currently have the One (m7) on T-Mobile and am considering switching to either the M8 or the G3. My friend has the G3 and the screen on it and the replaceable battery are pretty big selling points for me, HOWEVER I've had 6 different HTC phones in a row and I've loved them all. Can anyone that's switched from either the M7 or G3 to the M8 give me some feedback to your experience?
Here's a few questions I'd like answered:
My number one complaint recently about my M7 is the purple camera effect in low-light conditions. This is an infamous issue on the M7 and I can't stand it any longer. This is actually the primary reason I'm ready to ditch this phone. Does the M8 suffer the same issue with the pictures?
How are the boomsound speakers on the M8 when compared to the M7 (personal thoughts)?
Has anyone switched from the M8 to the G3 or G3 to M8 and regretted their decision? Why?
I play Clash of Clans a lot, anybody got battery experience with this game on the M8?
Anybody have experience with the M8 and either Square Register or Paypal Here?
I'm considering switching to the G3 primarily because most of the reviews I read recommend it over the M8 by a hair, but HTC's really been on the ball with their customer interaction and keeping up to date with the latest versions of Android... I'd prefer user feedback from people that have used both, or all three. Thank you all so much for your feedback

Read the forum rules again i think mate. This is a comparison thread so it will be deleted/closed. Useless asking the mods not to delete, rules is rules as they say (and no they are not meant to be broken here lol)
u are best off going to phone comparison websites and making your own decision because the M8 is going to win hands down in the m8 forum and the G3 will win hands down in the G3 forum.
Oh yeah..........., reported

Yes, XDA is allowing comparison threads as they do serve a valuable purpose. They help people decide what to run on their phones using the vast knowledge and experience of others on here. Our hope is that the threads stay positive in nature and don't turn into bashing threads.
As for switching, I have an m7 and my Dad has an m8. The m8 is better, but not enough so in my eyes to justify buying a new phone.

Well they say the iphone 6 is a lot more 'flexible'!
I had checked out the G3, but had been put off by the reviews of battery life due to the screen resolution. When I seen the G3 screen in person I wasn't that impressed by it to be honest. I've been very impressed with the M8 camera despite the criticism it has received, I came from an S4 which had a great camera. The M8's is probably just as good, except you obviously can't zoom/crop images as much, but comparing photos and even video it still holds its own. I actually prefer it now to be honest as the S4 had an annoying crackling noise at the start of videos, the speed of the M8 camera app itself is great and has some excellent features too, check the below thread out for some of the quality shots it is capable of.

i do like the lack of side bezel on the G3 but the m8 has considerably less than the m7, looks very tidy
The battery issue was a factor when I made my decision, until I stopped and thought about it for a minute. When was the last time I actually replaced a battery in a phone? Hmm. That would be my LG Vu (CU920) - from 2008. Every phone since then is still sporting its original battery. My parents have matching iPhone 4S', and both are still running strong on their original batteries. It just isn't as big a deal these days for the most part.
I also liked the perceived build quality of the M8. Sure, I always strap an Otterbox around my phones, but the M8 felt more solid in my hand. it has a solid balance and heft that I preferred. I still have, and like, my Samsung Galaxy S2, but even it feels "cheap" beside my M8. I will admit that reports of the camera failing are disturbing, but those are covered under warranty. If you get a camera with purple streaks, send it back. Thankfully, mine performed flawlessly out of the box.
However, what finally sold me on the M8 was the fact that there are both official and unofficial ways to unlock the boot loader. The G3 has root for now, but every OTA kills root, and you never know when you might get it back. The only saving grace is that if you ever get root, you can kill the updater process, but then you are left with an unpatched device running whatever firmware was on it when you stopped updating. If you want to run custom ROMs, you have to pray you can keep safestrap running, because if it gets hosed, you are now the proud owner of a brick. If your ROM requires updated firmware, well, good luck with that.
If custom ROMs or maintaining root access aren't important to you, then take that with a grain of salt. I simply can't tolerate a device without root, so I wanted a phone I felt I could be sure of retaining root on for its lifetime.

I think there's generally a better development for the m8 also. The fact that there is a Google edition that provides devs with a pure Google Rom and even allows for full conversion to Google play edition is great too.
I'm thinking of ditching my One m8 and getting the G3.
I've owned various phones including the m7 and LG G2. Maybe it's just me, but every HTC I have used seems to have some sort of problem. Both the m7 and m8 I have exchanged 2 times each (so 6 phones in total) and they have all had some sort of problem related to build quality.
My current daily driver, One m8, is now in for repairs due to a broken top speaker and I've only had it for 2 weeks (keep in mind this is the third one I exchanged for). Needless to say, I will be selling this phone and buying another - most likely the G3 (was very pleased with the G2).
Personally, I've tried to like HTC due to their beautiful designs and excellent build material (which is why I upgraded to m8 after a faulty m7), but the poor build quality and customer service really leaves with with a lack of confidence in my choice. Others may have different opinions, but this is just my experience after owning 10 high end phones over the past 4 years.
Have any of you M8 users had the "purple camera issue" that the M7 had? That's my main concern at this point

i have had the phone for a week and perhaps its too early but below are my observations so far
1_. Does the M8 suffer the same issue with the pictures? No, havent come across any such instances on the internet & certainly not on mine
2_How are the boomsound speakers on the M8 when compared to the M7 (personal thoughts)? better in terms of bass. i luv it
3_Has anyone switched from the M8 to the G3 or G3 to M8 and regretted their decision? Why? no issues so far so too early to say
4_I play Clash of Clans a lot, anybody got battery experience with this game on the M8? i play clash of clans and open the game every 1 hour or so for atleast 5 mins. I loose between 1-3% during the 5 mins. so throughout the day if i play the game for around total of 1 hr, i loose around 20-25% battery. note this is on 15% brightness! I guess the more time u spend clashing then the more the battery drain. that goes without saying!
im pretty impressed with the battery
I came from the G3 to the m8 and I can say that I like the m8 better...
G3 stutters and lags sometimes, and gets hot quite quickly...
Camera wise they are kind of on the same level, each has strengths and weaknesses... Front camera is clearly better on the m8... No purple tint on my device...
Ultimately it's down to personal preference, but in my opinion, the m8 being snappier, cooler and similar camera (despite the megapixel difference) is the better phone

How did you feel about the change in display quality and color when making the switch? I know the m8's display is excellent, but does the G3 compare? The mention of over-sharpening and dull color is the only thing I'm hesitating on before changing to the G3.
Here's my opinion as M8 user, but I will be objective.
A few friends of mine have G3. It's definitely great phone, with good design and build quality, and probably with more features than M8 (most of them are useless for me, but still). Now, things I don't like about it are screen and interface. Why screen? Because contrast and colors aren't on the highest quality level. And QHD resoultion means nothing. And why interface? It doesn't look so bad, but it lags. And I don't want that phone with the most powerful SoC lags.
These things are dealbreakers, at least for me.
And why M8? It's simple, it's premium aluminium build quality and super fast interface are the best. Everything is working perfectly smooth and I've never experienced any lag. These are very important things to me (especially interface), and that why I think that M8 is the best choice.
Stick with the M7
- This post is rather biased towards the M7 by the way-
As the purple tint is the main reason for the desired change, have you looked into getting it replaced so that you'll have an M7 without the purple tint issue?
Unfortunately, I can't be much help in regards to the M8 for G3 as I've only used them both briefly.
I got to use my mates G3 as he wanted me to get it rooted for him. I ended up testing it out for the rest of the day and it really felt like a solid phone. It was performing great, as I'd expected for a newer flagship, it felt really smooth and I was happy with the camera and screen quality from what I'd tested. The part I couldn't get used to, but surely would given enough time with it, was the power and volume buttons being on the back of the phone. That just felt incredibly uncomfortable to use and let the G3 down in my opinion. That's the only fault I found from my quick findings though.
I only ended up using the M8 for a couple of hours as, yet again, I was called upon to root and S-Off. They finished work not long after I'd done that for them so couldn't get a lot of testing done. With this thread being in the M8 forum, others here will surely be able to answer on behalf of the M8 much better than I can.
As I've had the M7 since UK release and have been so impressed with it considering it's my first HTC, I was looking forward to what the M8 would bring. As coal686 mentioned, I didn't feel like it was enough of an upgrade to bother buying it. If the design of the M8 was closer to that of the M7 then I likely would've brought it (mainly because it would then be guaranteed updates for a bit longer). However, I really don't like the design of the M8. While it may well be a fantastic phone, I feel that the M7 looks like a much more professional phone and that was what initially tempted me to buy it.
If you feel like you'd be able to get used to the back buttons on the G3, I'd suggest going for that as I doubt you'll really feel the M8 is worth the upgrade considering the M7 is still a great phone
G3 all the way. I've owned the m7,gs5,m8,g3 in that order and haven't looked back. The m8 has to much unused real estate in front for my liking. The g3 has a real clean front with minimal wasted space. I didn't like the camera on either of my HTC phones. I wish I had a fully unlocked option for the g3 but I don't. That's the one thing I liked about the m8 but everything else on the g3 won me over screen, camera, and minimal wasted space in front. I don't remember if the m8 had an SD slot but this is a big bonus for me personally.
Also battery life on the phones for me went gs5 highest then m8 and last g3. I used the gs5 the least(about a week so maybe it wasn't enough time to compare but from what I recall battery would last longer than the other two phones. I now do a lot more calls then I did when i had the m8 or gs5. Not sure if that's what is killing my battery but that's the only change I've made to my style of use between the phones.

The M8, unlike the M7, does have an SD slot. It supports up to 128GB SD cards.

And that's the reason I didn't get the M7 when it came out. I'm glad HTC listen to it's customers and included it in the M8. I'm glad that HTC made Blinkfeed an option on Sense 6 as well. That was another reason I skipped the M7. I'm just not a social media/RSS feed kind of guy.
I can say this about the M8, I usually root my phones and flash custom ROM's within I'd say 6 months because of Sense skin (I've always had HTC phone since my first smart phone a few years ago). I can say that HTC got Sense 6 right. It's just the right balance between a manufactures Android skin and Android itself. I just not had the desire to root and flash up to this point.
The phone is very fast with no lag at all and I've used the power saver mode almost exclusively which throttles down the processor to save battery life. I also switch between auto brightness to full brightness depending on what I'm doing I don't play CoC but I do play Boom Beach which is similar from the same developer and I'm usually on it for an hour or so a day. I've not had to worry about my battery life at all. I used to obsess with my battery on my two previous HTC phone but with the M8 I don't even think about the battery any more. I can get over a day on one charge and that is with using Bluetooth data tethering to my Asus TF201 (playing Boom Beach on the larger screen) Bluetoothing (is that a word???) music to my Bose Soundlink mini speaker (sometime at the same time as tethering data). I average at least 25 text a day and I'm always taking calls from work or family. My Gsam battery Monitor app reports my average life for complete charges since August 7th (when I installed the app) is 2 day 20 hours with 10h 20m active and 5h 35m of screen on time.
Having two forward facing speakers is a great thing. They sound better than anything out there today and is one of the features that convinced me to get it. I'm a big audiophile and good sound is a must. I have to say they are not perfect, a little tinny for my taste but with a little tinkering with a EQ you can get them to sound really good for a phone. I can play music and put it in my pocket messing around the house and have music with me all the time without having to us ear buds etc.
The camera is OK. I don't have the purple tint issue. The front facing camera is awesome. The best selfie camera out there these days (not that I take a lot of selfies). The rear camera can be made good with all the settings. I really get good results using manual mode. The best thing about manual mode is you can save the configuration and use it later. Low light performance is great IMO.
Overall I'm really impressed with this phone. It's the first phone I've had where I'm not thinking about the "Next big thing" except I'm really intrigued by the Galaxy Edge.
I don't know about the the G3, a co-worker has one and he loves it. I've not had a chance to play with it but it appears to be a solid phone.
Hope this helps
Edit - I forgot. I'm not sure if the G3 has and NFC chip but I use NFC on my M8 almost everyday buying stuff out of the vending machines at work. It saves me a lot of time since my locker at work and the cafeteria are at opposite ends of the building and I don't have to carry around my wallet or change anymore.
Ever since November, I've been thinking about purchasing a new phone. I was set on the 2nd gen Moto X as I have a $50 discount code, but I got quite busy and didn't really have time to think about how I wanted to customize it and order it. And my Nexus 4 (what I'm upgrading from) isn't terrible, I just feel it needs to be upgraded pretty soon. But T-Mobile recently offered $150 off of their G3 ($450 final) and I felt it was a steal, especially for having double the capacity and an extra gig of RAM. So both are $450 in the end. I know you guys will recommend the G3 for me, but does anyone have certain reasons why the G3 is the better of the two? Any response is appreciated. Thanks guys
Hi!
Other than what you already mentioned, MicroSD slot.
Personally, I love the power and volume buttons on the back. I rarely have to use the physical buttons anyway.

Thanks for your feedback man. How do you feel about the build quality? This is the real dealbreaker for me because I've felt the Moto X in person, and it's rock-solid in terms of build quality, but can't say anything for the G3 as I've never used it. But some people complain about the plastic build quality. I'm going to try and get my hands on one, but the another plus for this device is ROMs. Oh, sweet ROMs. The main reason this site exists haha

You're welcome!
I'm impressed with the build quality, but I came from the S3 and S2 before that so was used to "worse". It feels nice, it's light, I was worried it would seem to big for me. The curved back feels nice and makes it feel comfortable.
Two things I think could be better about this phone. The notification LED - I never notice it when I get a notification unless I'm looking directly at it.
It's too small. The S3's LED was perfect. S2's was huge and looked like it was made for kids.
If I have the phone face up on my desk at work I never notice the vibration notification for texts. I did all the time in the S3.
I theorize that the curved back makes it this way since it's less contact area when face up.
I'll have to make an effort to keep it face down and see if I notice it. Mods for notifications like "Dynamic Notifications" , custom AOSP based ROMs and possibly official lollipop will take care of the notification problem by waking up the screen for them.
By the way, I got 115+ hours on battery last time I charged, but since I picked up a tablet at the same time and my wife and I are anti-social, I don't use my phone much.
The camera is awesome with laser focus on the stock ROMs. I rarely have to use the flash, too.
Good luck with your decision.

Just my 2 cents:
The build quality is relatively solid. I use the phone without a case with a glass screen protector and mahogany dbrand skin on the back. It has taken quite a few falls and there are only minor scuffs on the corners. There is no creaking of the battery door which is a plus. On the flip side I was not too pleased with the plastic back cover. While it feels miles ahead in terms of quality over the G2 and Galaxy S models, I find that it feels 'meh'. However this is easily fixed by a dbrand skin, which I cannot recommend enough.
As for why you would prefer this phone to the Moto X:
I would say for me it would be the Micro SD, the 2K screen, the camera (with OIS) and actually LGs recent efforts to keep the software up to date. LG arguably 'released' their Lollipop update for the G3 before the Nexus devices even got it. This bodes well for future updates, really.
As for why you would prefer the Moto X:
The build quality is great and the customisability is a plus. Moreover the software is much less bloated on the Moto X and less resource heavy. This however is pretty subjective and many actually like the G3 software.
In all honesty, I probably would have opted for the Moto X if it had had an SD card slot. However I got the G3 for a killer price and it has everything I need. I have no need to complain but it just feels rather... uninspiring.
Just my honest opinion
I've had mine for a couple of weeks and am very happy with it.
Build quality: it feels solid and well made. I would prefer a textured back (like the G3 S) rather than the smooth back, but like poster above said, I can get a dbrand skin or something similar if I really want.
There is obviously an issue with cracks on top/bottom edges, but LG say that was a production problem that's been sorted. Do I trust that statement? No. We'll see what happens.
No complaints about anything. I even think stock rom is great (after being a Cyanogen user for 4 years).
g3 vs sgs3 roms
I also thought about buying this phone. However, I entered the forum and I was terrified a small amount of the available roms. My current device is sgs3 where I can select in countless available modifications. If something did not work, or just does not suit me I can quickly change it to something else. How is it here? This is as bad as can be seen from the number of topics in the Android Development section?

Wow comparing an old phone to a last year's phone.. Funny. Remember it's not easy to compile good stuff/mods to create a roms as there are many things to consider. Give it some time impatient guy.
On topic: i am 50/50 with this phone.
Pros:
*Camera with ois and laser af
*Ergonomics
*Plastic build yes, but its much better and premium looking than chrome which really looks cheap. (Hi Samsung)
*5.5 inch display in such a compact phone. (Hi Sony)
*Faster when it comes to SW updates
*Music output is great whether you're using speaker or earphones
*Power and volume buttons at the back? Genius! Makes the phone clean at the sides
*I prefer Knock code than fingerprint scanner. My phone is still safe even when I'm sleeping. Lol (Hi Apple)
Cons:
*Starts to heat up faster than other quadcore phones
*Ui is beautiful but sluggish
*Speakers at the back is ok but much better if they put it at the bottom for much clearer sound
*Stuttering even when using other launchers like nova
*I didn't pay for a premium device just to get this phone. Honestly, lag is tolerable but cmon.. This has a 2/3 gb of Ram with enough storage and has SD801 processor. We shouldn't be experiencing this kind of problem
Well i don't hate my phone. I love it. It's just the software that seems to be the problem. again it's for you to decide. You can use our personal experience as your reference but the choice will be yours.. Go to where your heart desires
I have found that without a case, the phone is pretty slick, and really thin, if you don't have a good grip on it, it will slip, if your not careful, not a deal breaker, just with any phone you gotta be careful

@Green_Ranger,
Thanks for comprehensive reply. I'm not saying that here should be as many roms as there are currently in sgs3 forum, it would be at least unreasonable, but comparing it to samsung's section form the same period there was twice more topics or even more . But no matter... I hope that some developers will start to get interested in it in the future.
I'm really happy that you've written not only about advantages but also about the other side of the coin. Of course, they aren't serious flaws but it's always useful to know the opinion about such things from an experienced user.
Maybe stuttering is quite strange, because not considering the price, any way you slice it it's main LG phone and it have powerful hardware comparable to the best devices of others produces so it is premium device. Undoubtedly it is caused by software problem (GPU I guess) and there's possibility that LG (or even one of developers) will fix it hereafter.
I have one question, how about battery life?
I just moved over to an ls990 (Sprint) from an HTC One (m7)...
Pros:
Much Better Camera
Much Improved battery life
Removable Battery
Removable SD Card
Cons:
I don't like the rear buttons (maybe you might)
AOSP ROMS are still very buggy (at least on the ls990/Sprint)
Overall I'm pretty happy with the choice, although I wouldn't have switched unless my HTC hadn't completely died (I'm guessing it was the internal battery.... which might as well be impossible to get to).
I would expect within the next year for ROMs to become much more stable for the LG G3, and I'm happy with the choice thus far. Hope that helps.

Yeah, there were/are tons of modded stock roms for s3. Thing is, 99.9999% percent of them don't deseve to exist.
The only good stock ones are 4.4.2 ports, omega rom and archidroid. And, maybe, S5 revolution. Other roms are "Let's take a stock rom, make a ton of useless build.prop edits and post it!"...
The g3 situation is different - roms are few, but distinct and good. There are some aosp/cm roms, from pure AOSP to Temasek's "Gotta kang em 'all!' builds, so things here aren't worse.
Battery life, is, unfortunately, same as on S3 or even worse. Bright 2K screen, snapdragon 801 and 4g don't add to battery life. 6h of 4g web browsing at most and 2-3 h of hardcore gaming is pretty bad.
There are serious flaws, actually. The main one is the absence of any cooling system for 801, plus it's facing the screen - which forced LG's software team to throttle it on 60° to prevent lowering screen brightness too low.
Alright I have the M8 currently, going to upgrade today or within the week/month. I love my M8 right? I also love how I can flash stuff on it (I have Verizon sadly), but I was thinking, theres really only a few things I use with S-OFF requirements and I'm not sure if its really worth buying the M9 just for those when the S6 has so many more things to offer that I may actually use, I am aware of one thing however, TouchWiz will never match Sense/Stock android in speed, my phone runs AOSP though it was Sense 6 for a long time, both are blazing fast. I did take a chance to use the S6 however and it was quite fast in comparison to previous models. I'm just really having a hard time deciding, the new S6/Edge look quite innovative vs the refining path of the M9, it's sort of attracting me but I'm not sure if I'm making a mistake. Before my M8 was the S4 and I HATED it, but the S6 is a different case, new less crap look and faster (faster vs older galaxies)+ more features. Not sure what I want to do. Any advice? I upgrade yearly so whatever I choose I am stuck with for the coming year.

Well I praise the M9 yes its somewhat moderate of an upgrade from the M8. HTC are getting a lot of heat for what they produced.
However I am not an all out spec junkie, and what the M9 provides is great for me.
Positives are and I will include the Camera as I like to play around with settings and once you do its very acceptable, but admittedly not on par with the S6
The Sense 7 skin is great & themes are fantastic.
The M9 is fast & fluid and I haven't had any overheating or lag or any hiccup really.
The Audio is superb and best I have experienced on any device to date.
The battery is on the better side of average at least in my experience.
The build and in hand feel is again fantastic.
Micro SD card expansion.
The S6 is a beautiful build also with better optics and no doubt with ois steadier in video capture.
Its really your call and you may want to jump on the hype bandwagon or you may see sense
you can always get a s6 and try it out. samsung usually holds their value better. so if anything you can always trade someone off cl or so for a m9 + cash on their end. just a thought that you won't be stuck on one device forever lol.
s6 edge makes me want to buy it with all the hype and that stupid super camera they put in there's. but development will most likely keep my interest in m9.

I decided I'm going to go with the S6 or S6 Edge, will decide upon trying them both again. If I don't like it, i'll sell it on eBay and buy the M9 or something else if something potentially better is available by then. I sort of made this decision based on I realized the only thing I've really done with my M8 being S-OFF is LiquidSmooth and a few root things, and of course TWRP backups but since I won't be doing ROM's on this it won't really be necessary and besides I can always use that half-4$$'ed version they have for locked phones. Anyways gonna give Samsung a go again, as I said if I don't like it, M9 here I come! If I do and miss my M8 i'll just switch between phones a lot. All ways are a win and I get to try the S6 for an extended time.
I'm looking for a new phone on a budget and I was wondering if you guys still recommend this phone.
I'm coming from a HTC One m7 and I'm looking for the sound. I'm enjoying the earphone DAC of my old m7 and I'm an audiophille.
But some drawbacks make me think about an iphone 6 or even an s6. Mainly, the camera. Is it really that bad? I was searching on flickr for shots and they don't look as bad as the reviews say it it. And also, it will continue development. I mean, with android 7.0 just released, it will get it officially, or even a bug-less cm build? Any good mods or anything at all that can attract me to buy this device? Leave your opinion here and thanks for helping my buying choice.

Short answer? Not a chance - purely from a development standpoint, the HTC M9 has been a staggering disappointment. We have some great folks working on AOSP-based and stock-based ROMs, but there simply isn't the breadth of development that exists for previous HTC One models. I'm not optimistic about the M10 either.
That said, the M9 is getting Android 7 (Nougat) from HTC, so we're not entirely behind the times with software updates, despite being slow (standard practice for non-Nexus devices). It is even possible that development of ROMs will continue to grow. Still, I would recommend waiting for the next Nexus phones (rumored to be released in October) and see how they compare to the current options on the market.
(As for the camera - I've never had any complaints, but I'm a pretty basic user on that front)

I don't really recommend this phone either. If you're looking for a budget phone... definitely go with the Nexus 5X/6P or One Plus 3 or any sub-$400 phone and put a skin over it (i.e. dBrand/Slickwraps). The sapphire screen on the back camera of my HTC One M9 has already cracked under not a whole lot of pressure applied to it some time ago and it would be silly of me to send it back to HTC to get it fixed as it'll crack again probably soon after. Camera is at best, 'meh' when it's in auto; I have the tendency to always grab photos in manual mode since I can make the photo more beautifiul. When this phone is in my hand with my pinky at the bottom holding it straight, my pinky starts to hurt because of its weight. Battery has been pretty good as I don't have a ton of apps running in the background only the ones I use daily (i.e. Snapchat, Hangouts, Maps, Messenger, etc.) but for other hardcore people who load apps onto their phone like mad... this would drain your battery pretty quick. Also YouTube videos drain the battery pretty quick from my experience LOL. If you have any questions about it, I'll try my best to give you an unbiased opinion. I still don't feel like I need to switch phones after having bought this phone on release day but quite honestly, I don't see how I could recommend anyone getting the M9 in 2016 even if it has gotten cheaper.

Thanks a lot for your reply. I can see why you can't recommend it, but I can't wait since I don't have a phone anymore. I was thinking about the Nexus 5x since i'm on a low budget but i heard it's not stereo speakers and the audio jack quality is pretty pour. i think i'll go with the iphone 6/se in the end.

I still don't feel like I need to switch phones after having bought this phone on release day but quite honestly, I don't see how I could recommend anyone getting the M9 in 2016 even if it has gotten cheaper.

I can relate to the weight issue. I hated to hold my m7 for more than 5 mins. Can't even watch youtube in bed because my hands would start hurting. And about the battery, my m7 drained it's battery in 1+1/2h of sot. that's so poor. and i changed the battery twice. I enjoy HTC only for the acoustics, but as I said earlier, i think i'm going with the 6/se for it's dac performance and mostly "just works" theory. I'm kind of sick of android and it's optimization.

The iPhone 7 & the new 'nexus' phones are right around the corner; I suggest you wait a bit before then. I have used an iPhone 6 for several months prior to getting the M9 and to be honest the fingerprint sensor on it is REALLY unreliable when you have the slightest amount of water or dirt on your finger (and quite slow and worked maybe 75% of the time with a super clean thumb). The SE model uses the old fingerprint sensor found in the iPhone 6 so it'll be as equally as bad. My ex had the iPhone 6 for a while and the battery literally crapped out less than a year so be sure that if you're planning to buy a used iPhone 6 off of Craigslist or another similar website, that it is still in 'decent' condition. Your option for the 6 is either a 16GB iPhone (~10GB of space) or a 64GB (~59GB of space) so if you need more than 10GB, a 64GB iPhone in good condition will still set you back ~$600-650.
Only reason why I ended up coming back to android was because I felt iOS was really basic at best and I truly did miss the customizing aspect of android. I recommend just buying a used phone to use for a month or two off of Craigslist that's ~$100 and purchase the newer phones (iPhone 7 or Nexus) after they have been released.
A compromise might be purchasing a used smartphone to tide you over until the new wave of Nexus phones and iPhones come out. A bit of purgatory, but it might work in your favor.
