I have had my Galaxy Tab S 10.5 for about a month. My battery seems to deplete very fast, about 10% every 30 minutes. I only use the tablet for reading books on Kindle, looking at my emails, and reading the news. The battery settings show that 57% is being used by the screen, 29% by Touchwiz, 5% by the Android System, and lesser amounts by other sources. I have my display settings set to Automatic Brightness and Adaptive Display.
I understood that I could expect about 8 hours battery life but I am lucky to get 5 hours. I have not watched videos or played games on the tablet as yet. I was wondering if this battery life is normal or should I be expecting more.
I usually start recharging once the battery shows around 30% and it then takes about 4 hours to charge to 100% again.
Auto Brightness and Adaptive Display take up power constantly checking ambient light and making adjustments. Better off disabling both and setting the brightness manually, I have mine set on Amoled Cinema and a brighness of about %20 - %25, it's pretty easy to read indoors at those settings.
Another thing, the more light colours on the screen the more current the display uses, amoled displays are like that, so your better off having a dark background and light text than the reverse, I always use the dark or black theme options in apps that give you the choice.

Typically, it takes about 4-5 hours to charge. To me I think lollipop charges a bit faster.

Annoyingly I have not got lollipop. I have tried to update the system manually but it says the tablet is up to date. Why is it some have it and other do not?
I found this battery calibration guide, it says it`s for phones but it will work for tablets too.

You can calibrate the battery like this before you decide to buy a new one
Fully charge the battery with the phone on and when the phone is fully charged, unplug the charger and turn it off
When your phone is off, plug it into the charger and let it charge to 100% again. The green LED light will indicate when this is done.
Next unplug the charger, turn on your phone and set the option to ensure that your screen doesn’t turn off, if you have this option. Then reconnect to the charger and wait for it to charge again to 100%.
Once charged to 100%, unplug the charger again and do not charge until the smartphone turns itself off after reaching a 0% battery level. Once off, fully charge it again and it should work properly. The screen setting can put back to normal again (meaning turn off after a certain amount of time).

Hello.got xperia m before 4-5 days.its with cm11 and i got an issue with battery.when i charge my phone close i can see that it is 100% charged.but when i open it it drops to 95% fast. Same thing happens if i charge it open. When i replug the charger it goes to 99% normaly but after it takes much time to go 100%. Is this normal?i also try calibrating battery removing battery.bin and also tried removing battery for 10min.no luck at anything

It looks like it has some wear. Because you're probably out of warranty by flashing another ROM, may be it's a good idea go searching for another battery. If I'm not mistaken, there are some 1900 mAh batteries arround compatible with Xperia M (the default one being 1750 mAh).
But you can try to turn airplane mode on, then go to Settings > Performance > CPU and setting maximum CPU speed to 486000, as well as the CPU governor to powersave, then checking the option to restore these options every boot. Level brightness down to the minimum.
Now, let it charge to 100%, disconnecting the charger, after. See if it drops. If it still dropping, it's battery wear. Of course, the time it lasts depends on how much time you spent with screen on and what tasks are you performing, i.e.: if you're playing Fruit Ninja right after disconnecting the charger, with medium brightness, it's not imposible to drain 7% right at the first three to five minutes.
Well, may you post a screenshot of battery usage graph?

Well i put it last night and it charged 100% and battery drops normaly. I thing that this is happening only when i charge it closed...

Well, it's strange because sleep should save battery.
Anyway, looks like your battery has some damage. It's a good idea to take someone's battery to test it out, or bringing it to some place where they replace batteries (I know, it's a horrible english formulation, but back here, in our yellow and green country it does make sense, since there's a lot of Asians and Paraguyans selling all that stuff right in the downtown streets, but you'll have to check out for a place that can test it for you).
You may well take it to Sony, but they'll charge you for everything that they replace. Still, it's the best place to ask for a test. Not so much, here in my city, because store workers are, in general, a bunch of semi-cultured people who knows nothing about handset techinal aspects, just waiting for the time to take the bus and go home. Well, just sayin'... Good luck!
Ok.battery seems to work fine.phone charges to 100% and it holds 5h and 45min of gaming with low brightness.i charged it full,removed charger and i go to sleep.when i woke up (after 6h50min) phone was still 100%.i guess that the phone wasnt charging full cause of the way calibration i did by removing battery.bin....

It happens. This morning I used my phone for 40 minutes after disconnecting it from the charger. Minimum brightness, CPU throttled to powersave/540 Mhz max. settings and it still managed to get down to 94%. It turned out that the GPS were turned on, for some unknown reason. I turned it off and back on, and it went working correctly (i.e. working only when wheater update required it). Indeed, the screen itself does suck a great amount of power, and the screen kept on for nearly 90% of this 40 minutes. So I got to correct myself, also and apologize for my over-sugestion.

I've seen a few post regarding the 4.3V at 100% thing, but they're too old and haven't really given me much information.
My main issue is that I'm experiencing unusually rapid battery drops after my phone reaches 12% charge, it'd drop to 0% in just a few seconds. I downloaded a few battery calibration apps thinking that it might be a calibration issue. In that process, I noticed that the voltage read by these apps (and even in the *#*#4636#*#* menu) when fully charge is 4,38 volts. It was my understanding that Li-Po batteries should be fully charged at 4.2 volts and that charging past that point is harmful for the battery.
I also noticed that if at this point (charged at 4.38 volts - 100%) I unplugg the charger, the battery indicator would show 100% for a while, until the voltage drops below 4.2V, at that point the porcentage would change to 99%, so it seems that the device is set recognize 4,2V as fully charge, but it continues charging after that point. Also, the green light turns on at 90%, is this normal?
I tried calibrating using this app but with no results. I'm trying the manual calibration now. What is going on here? Could this be a clibration issue or do I have a faulty battery?
I think it is not normal. My P6 drops even a little bit slower from 10%. current my P6 is on 6% and 3,627V. (Edit: Turn off: 3,55V / After charge 100%: 4,32V)
Next time i will charge, then i post the Voltage at 100% for you.
To calibrate the accu you don't need any app. Use P6 until it is automatic power off. Now turn it on so often until it will not start anymore, and only show a red accu on screen. Now charge to 100%, turn on, unplug charger. Now your accu is calibrated.

Thanks, heross. So apparently the >4.2V @ 100% is not so unusual. Does your phone remain at 100% for a relatively long time and drops to 99 after the voltage is below 4.2V? Mine does that, and it also turns the led green when it reaches 90%.
I'm sure the dropping from 12% o 0% in seconds cannot be normal, but I'm wondering if the above is a symptom that something is wrong or
if it's normal.
EDIT: Ok, the phone just turned off by itself, the quick drop hapenned as usual (12% to 0% in less than a minute) and the voltage fluctuated between 3,1 and 3,3 volts in the process, maybe even less than 3.1 V, but I'm not sure. I took a series of screen shots 2 seconds apart, I'll post them when I turn the phone on again, I'll let it charge as you suggested.

12% to 0% in seconds is definitely not normal. Normal it goes down very slowly to 3% then it comes a Info and after 30sec it power off.

Finished charging.
I've turned the phone on and it has been sitting at 100% for about 25 minutes at 4,348V with the screen on. (I even played a video with full brightess). After that it droped to 99% and 4,079V[/B]. That can't be normal.
I saw that the P6 battery is rated 4,35 volts, so i'm not too worried anymore abut that voltage and everyone else seems to have the same values, but this quick drop with 12% and the fact that it stays for so long at 100% does worries me.
The screenshots were taken 2 or 3 seconds apart. It doesn't give me a low battery warning at 15% like most phones, but at 8%
I'm still having this extremely annoying problem. The goddamn battery goes from 12-13% to 0% in a blink of an eye. I just plugged the charger at 8% and it show 0% right after and started charging from there. Voltages are strange too, it shows ~3,6 volts when it started dropping quickly. It has charged ~20% in less than ten minutes. Look at this behavior: sudden voltage drops, never went below 3,3V and dies at 3,6V (almost nominal voltage)
I've tried calibrating several with several methods a few times, I'd prefer to stop doing that since I know it stresses the battery.
Has anyone had this issue? Can someone please shed some light on WTH is wrong with this troublesome phone?

It stays to much at 100% after charging, so we have the same battery life. Might be the kernel, don't know. I home when emui 3.0 is relased comes with a new kernel as well.

I also managed to fix it once, I don't remember exactly what I did (I've tried so many things) but it didn't last long either, it discharged normally one time, but the next time dropped from 12% to 0% again in seconds. When will EMUI 3.0 be released?
They said emui 3.0 will be released in the middle of november for p6 but they also said that it will be available for p7 since october -they kept their word and it is available but only for the chinese versions of p7. So i would expect emui 3.0 for p6 in december for the international version.

Ok, I think I managed to calibrate it, I'm not sure yet, I will update once the battery is drained so I can see how it behaves at low charge, but there are indications that it's working.
If you're experiencing the same problem as me, then you've probably noticed that after your phone drops quickly from 9% (in your case) to 0% and you plug the charger, the battery will charge up to 9% also very quickly. If this happens, then Android is not reading the battery info right and you'll get a 100% reading before it's actually fully charged, and will keep on charging past that point (which I believe is why it stays at 100% for such a long time). It'll obviously drain from 9% to 0% again once it's discharged - because it's not really at 9%, it's much lower.
So, if we can manage to get Android to display normal charging speeds at low charge, then the battery should be calibrated. This is what I've managed to do.
Here's how:
1. Get a Battery Monitoring App (I use Battery Monitor Widget) and set the update intervals to 1 minute
2. Let your battery drain and your phone turn irself off until you can't turn it on
3. Plug the charger and turn the phone on. Watch how the charge increases in this process, it'll most likely charge too quickly (See graph screenshot - blue arrow: a steep slope indicates quick, abnormal charging speed readings)
4. Wait 5 minutes or until it reaches 10-12%
5. Unplug the charger and let the battery drain again. Watch how it discharges, if it charged too quickly in step 3, it'll most likely discharge quickly too here (You can see in the graph screenshot that the discharging slope in this process is also very steep)
6. When it says it's going to turn itself off in 30 seconds, plug in the charger (don't let it turn off).
7. If the 'turning off' message appeared, say, at 2%, your phone will probably display 0% after you plug the charger (i know this makes no sense, but it happens like that)
8. Let it charge and watch how it's charging.
After doing this my battery charged at a normal rate (Graph screenshot - red arrow) and it behaved normally approaching full charge (current started decreasing approaching 100% - green arrow). It didn't stay for ages in 100% after unplugging the charger either, just 1 hour in deep sleep (2nd and 3rd screenshots), which I think is fine because I used to unplugg the charger at night and wake up to a 100% battery, so it seems Android is reading battery info correctly now.
I hope this works for you too, mate (And that it will last more than one charge cycle).
I'll update tonight with low charge behaviour, but I'm pretty sure it'll discharge normally.
EDIT: It didn't actually eliminate the problem, but it got a little better, it now drops from 7% to 4% (instead of 12-13%) and stays at 4 for a while.
After far too long of shockingly-bad battery life from the stock Moto 360 with no apps at all installed and power consumption of as much as 8% per hour -- and multiple failures to even get to the end of the day without having to recharge, let alone get multiple days -- I want some feedback from my fellow Moto 360 users:
I DO NOT WANT YOU TO REPLY UNLESS YOU HAVE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
* Latest firmware installed
* --> Ambient mode enabled <--
* Auto brightness or brightness level 1 (the lowest)
If you do, please reply noting your typical battery life in hours and/or your typical hourly power consumption. Please also note whether you have Motorola Connect installed, whether you have any other Wear apps installed, whether you have a watch face other than the default, and how much the watch is being used.
My goal here is to get a ballpark for what power consumption should be with Ambient mode enabled. Please, if you do not have Ambient mode enabled, do not reply.
Have you tried rebooting your phone in the morning, before you take the watch off the charger? Before i did that, i was getting about 7% drain per hour, after doing that for the past few days, i've gotten the following: 4.9%, 3.4%, 3.6%.
Currently, i am not using any facer watchfaces, just the Moto Rotate face.

Thanks for the tip. Rebooting the phone should have precisely zero effect on the watch's power consumption; I'm pretty certain this is nothing more than placebo effect. I'll give it a try tomorrow though, just to rule another thing out.
Ambient Mode on. Auto Brightness. No Apps. Latest firmware (whatever is latest on 10/13/14).
I get at least 16 hours. I haven't had it go dead yet. 20-30% left by midnight. I think it got down to 10% once?
Moderate use. Music always playing/updating. Texting/emails are the only method I use for communication and it's fairly frequent (a few notifications an hour) and I occasionally ask it stuff. I never use the heart rate monitor.
Ambient/auto bright. Off the charger at 745 am, it is just about 12 hours later and I am at 20%. This is very typical.
I run a few apps including wear mini launcher but nothing crazy. Motoconnect installed on phone as well. All software current.
Ambient on, auto mode.
I wear it from 2 days, yesterday I've had about 15 hrs (7am to 10pm before death). Moderate use, some notifications per hour and about 20min of navigation. Didn't receive calls or used cardio. Stock watchface and some apps installed.
I also got 15 hours from 100% to 2%, with ambient ON. I don't expect much more without a substantial software update on both the phone and watch sides.
I did this yesterday and the watch had used 12% every hour. I constantly shook it to keep the screen on, every time the screen faded out.
My 360's battery life has actually been much better than I expected, even with Ambient Mode On. I've been using it for about a week with ambient mode enabled, brightness at level 3, and I still get about 20 hours. I've got a few Wear apps installed, like Wear Mini Launcher and one or two others. Without ambient mode turned on, I get about 24 hours or so. I expected the battery to be terrible after all the reviews but so far I've lucked out on my 360.
Off the charger at 730 am and dead at 9pm. I love the watch and will suck it up and deal with it but the battery life sucks.

I was off the charger at 745 yesterday and dead at 615 which is my worst day ever. I do get a ton of notifications due to work email. I turned off ambient for today and cannot believe the difference. Ambient mode uses at least 2x the battery vs not having it enabled.
Off the charger at 745, it is now 2 pm and I am at 83%. I didn't expect it to be this drastic of an improvement.
I really like ambient mode, but it is tough to justify when the watch is dead in 12 hrs due to it.

Couldn't agree more. In my opinion, ambient mode is simply not a feature of this watch because it is not usable. And that's with a brand-new battery, too. Two years from now, you'll likely have to recharge twice a day just to get through the day with ambient mode enabled.
I have ambient mode on and use Facer and and I can last a full day from averagely 0830 to sometimes around 0100 in the morning. Lowest I've gotten is to around 4% and that was almost near 0200.
But my stats are from light to moderate use. Didn't use navigation or other apps extensively, just time checking and occasional clearing of notifications.
I find the responses here interesting. Maybe I just have a great model. I admit that I probably have what people would consider light usage (it's a damn watch not a phone!) so take it with a grain of salt I guess. But with ambient mode *ON*, I've been going from about 9-10am to 12am (14-15 hours) and ending the night at 66%! I turn off the watch, and then use it for another day the following day. Today, would have counted as my 3rd day in the row without a charge, but it was at like 25%, so I charged it for about 5-10 mins (not sure what percentage it was at.. probably like 30-32%), and went from around 10am to 4-5pm. So basically 2.25 days or so of battery life with light usage. Oh, I also use a black background, and stock "classic" face which probably contributes to this as well.

I did a test over 2 days, first one with Ambient Off and second with Ambient On. It was "scientific" as the usage varied slightly (i.e. I used it as and when I needed on that day) and found that on day one at 10pm I still had 20% battery left and on day two when I got home from work at 18:30 I had 15% left and it was dead by 10pm.
With the news Im hearing about the watch being more responsive to wrist movement and turning off I will be using it with Ambient Off. Im satisfied with the battery life - I put my phone on charge every night already, no harm in also doing the watch especially as its so simple.

Just to write a solution for the commonly problem on the battery of this tablet; I had the problem that battery ran out almost on 1 or 2 hours! of use after it turned off I turned on again and the gauge showed for example 30% or some cases 40% of battery I was crazy about that and had to do some research; tried to bring the tablet to warranty but they did not could help me (I don't know why) after that I read there were more users having this problem; some of them suggested to bring the tablet to a repair center or open the tablet and do some technical reparation; the solution is pretty simple that it seems to me; my solution was to open the tablet with a spudger (I don't have one so I made one by sanding a piece of plastic) after that just unplugged the battery conector and reconnected it again; rebooted if recovery mode and erased batterystats.bin, turned off and charged until 100%.
At this point I have been using the tablet by 3 days and the gauge seems to show a more precise battery percentage.
Anybody that is having battery problem, and have checked that a app is not causing the battery drain, should try the battery calibration method below, before opening their tab
Try apps like watchdog or an wakelock checker app, also any apps like alarms and weather check apps or any apps that sync the tab can keep the tab from going to sleep.
On my tab s 10.5 i only charge to 70% and never unless i am doing a calibrate drop below 20%, I use my tab for video, ebook and internet.
I use an app like Gsam to sound an alarm at 20% and 70% when charging, and i dont charge to 100% as it can cause cumulative damage to the battery, check the link below for more info on how to care for lithium based battery`s

I might have to give this a try. Like my battery has no problems with its connectors or anything since I have never had that problem. Recently, every time I charge my device, when it charges up to 97%, it immediately jumps to 100%. Rebooting still shows 100%. So when I turn off the device and charge it while it's off, it shows its at 98%. So I know it's an calibration problem. This only happens when charging up to 97%. So I might need to recalibrate again.

You should not discharge to 0% too often, as it can causes curative damage and the battery could actually fail, you would not want that to happen if you are out of warranty, I rarely discharge below 20%, a couple of % inaccuracy is not a problem really.

I hardly ever discharge to 0%, I usually charge it when it tells me my battery is low (20-15%). Well, I bought this tablet in July so I have reached probably 300+ charge cycles. I read some threads regarding battery skiping and it happens when either it's uncalibrated, or battery is slowly going bad, and something else I forget. But thanks for the tips on the battery stuff! I never knew charing and discharging fully could do such a thing!

At the beginning , I faced some issues with my device such as. After about 3 weeks I found the the battery stay only for 10 minutes even if it charged to 100%
I had to put my device in charge all the time so I can use it.
I send it to repair center and told them that I need to replace my battery.
After one day they call me and told me that it just asoftware problem and we solve it.
I got it from them use it for just 3 days and found anew problem that the home,back and multitask buttons dosen't work very well . That I need to but it on it's back or use the desktop cover to make it work.
In that point I tried another country firmware with kitkat 4.4.2 and that dosent solve anything
And when I found that the lolipop came to galaxy tab s with France and Canada and sanghfore , I installed it
I found that when I connect the wall charger , the device immediately turn off and give me the sign of battery with out any process in charging and dosent want to turn on.
And when the device work , it give me ablack screen when I shake it between my hand or but it on it's back (such like ablack screen flashing)
I don't know what to do.
I've noticed that my 2 XL battery drains very fast after full charge, but then settles to acceptable drain rates from about 90%. I'd say it takes less than an hour to drop from 100 to 90% without basically any use. Often I can't even hit 100% when charging. More like 99/98% max. If it does charge to 100%, it stays there for a couple minutes tops, even if just on standby. Which leads me to my next issue...
This prompted me to calibrate my battery which seemed to help somewhat, but I found that I cannot monitor the charge rate when charging while the device is turned off. What is shown is just what "looks like" a full battery charged icon at all times, and the screen does not dim at any point during charge. It actually seems that the phone is frozen during charging when turned off, and needs a very long power button press to turn the phone on. I actually have two Pixel 2 XLs in front of me and they both do this! Is this a known issue?
In general I am getting 5-6 hours screen-on time per charge which seems about right from what I've read. But that initial fast drain and "freezing" while charging when turned off is puzzling. Any common experiences or insight?

It may be that the battery is not fully charged when the phone is telling you it is 100%. When using Accubattery to manually benchmark the battery, I found that my phones were still taking a low charge current (as measured by AB) for 45 minutes to sometimes even one hour after the phone was reading 100%. AB will register 100% when the phone's charging circuit cuts off to zero (and notify you). Using AB for a while will also give you a very close approximation of the remaining capacity of your battery relative to a new battery. When my 2XL was new, I was getting just over 100% (~103%). A year later, it is in the high 90's.
Thanks for the tip on Accubattery. I am going to give that a try for a while. So have you been charging up to 100% regularly in spite of what's recommended by this app?

Yes, I turn the 80% alarm crap off and leave it on the charger all night. It is fully charged before I go to bed but I leave it on the charger all night. I use AB for bench marking my battery's capacity and it's real good at that... if you start from when AB says your battery is full. You will see it converge to a % capacity after only 2-3 full discharges. I'm just guessing but I think you are not completely filling the battery to it's full capacity. At least using AB for a while will a) provide you with your battery's true capacity wrt a new battery, and b) will rule out you not charging up fully as your mystery 100-90% quick-drop. Please do report back. :good:
