you may have to call your carrier to get them to look at the issues with your phone on their end, I did that when i had trouble sending mms messages (i am on Telus), and while the message report (long press, select View Report) still says pending they do seem to get through now... i was on JB for a short while but went back to 4.0.4 for the upcoming OTA update.
Also, I found out that mms wont send if you have your mobile data turned off or are on wifi...

MMS usually requires a different APN than data, so you need to make sure it is set up properly for your carrier.

I'm not sure if sprint's settings are similar to gsm settings, or what Sprint's APN settings are, but if you go to settings, more, mobile networks, access point names, that is where it should be. Maybe someone on sprint can help.

Is there a wayvyo remove the "wifi connected" message in the notification pulldown tray? I see there are ways for the verizon sg3, but that doesn't work for our phones. Thanks in advance.

I do not believe there is a way to disable it on the stock rom but I'm sure there will be a way to disable it using a custom ROM.

I have an unlocked galaxy nexus running Franco r364. I just bought a Samsung arm chrome book and it will see the nexus Wi-Fi hotspot but will not connect. It let me tether however for a while then blocked it. I have the unlimited data no tethering plan. Does anyone know how to bypass the tethering block or know how I can get the chromebook to connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot. I've researched and found tether bypasses such as clock work tether that work for PC or Mac but not chrome OS anyone experiencing the same issue or have found a solution. Thanks in advance.

Use the stock teethering feature in android.
T-mobile doesn't have software blocking your device because it's not T-mobile firmware but rather stock google.
you need to enable teethering on your device.
verify that your APN TYPE in your APN settings says "default, supl, dun, mms"
that should enable teethering on your stock device.

Wait... Huh? I can bypass T-Mobile's block? Can you elaborate on this more clearly? I had to orkbot (or something like that) and PDAnet just to barely tether. It's slow as hell (1 gbs). Please help!

I think he's trying to say that you should use the stock wireless tethering hotspot function instead of a third party app. Also to modify the APN with the parameters he provided
Just for the record 1gb(p)s is not slow at all...roughly 800mbps

I added the "dun," in and my computer is telling that it cannot connect to the network. Am I don't something wrong? That's with the Wi-Fi tether. I can connect with the USB tether, but I can't access the internet. I get a message from T-Mobile saying, "Turn your Smartphone into a Mobile Hotspot! Share your smartphone's high-speed internet connection […]." I can't move beyond this webpage, either. Ugh. This sucks. :-/

Just connect to it via your wireless adapter.

Using stock adjusted APN and it connects but when u try to browse it directs u to T-Mobile. Anyway around this?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
The way they catch you is by the UAString. On their side, it makes it look like a desktop is using your data and hence the reason you get blocked. Not too familiar with Chrome OS, but see if there are any add ons for chrome that will change the UA String( User Agent String)

Yeah, they're not having that this year. Lol. Which plan are you using? The $70 unlimited plan?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk II
I got a family plan with unlimited calls and text. I had 5gb data with hot spot but they recently came out with the uncapped unlimited data and igot it because I knew I was rooted and could still tether. Guess they caught on because as of Feb 1st it keeps redirecting to T-Mobile. I can still get away with it on my ps3 though that's about it.

I too have the $30 unlimited plan and I can tether just fine. You are using the stock tethering feature right? Have you tried changing the uastring?

Forums typically require a minimum number of characters (chars) before you can post. 10 characters used to be pretty common, so people would boost their character count by adding "10char" to their post. Looks like 2 characters is the minimum on xda...
I have this problem too, almost. I have the Sprint variant and I don't get redirected to a site on my Samsung ARM CB.
When on any Jellybean rom, my CB sees the built in hotspot from the gnex but says it can't connect to it. Works perfectly on cm9.1, although only when the hotspot is an open network. I honestly can't believe 2 Google devices won't work together.

Switching to an Android use agent works
Since I bought a Samsung Chromebook in July, I had no trouble using my T-Mobile $30 5GB plan to tether to it . . . until today.
I was unhappy until I switched user agents to an Android user agent. A couple (Android 4.0.2 for Galaxy Nexus & Chrome for Android Tablet) different user agents did the trick.
Hi guys! I just got my galaxy s4 yesterday. I rooted it, and I got wifi tether on the device. It didn't work, and I was wondering if it was the app's problem for not having support for gs4, or tmobioe blocking any tethering action for people with no hotspot plan, or that I just have the settings wrong. Can anyone help me? Thank you!

Changing the APN (Access Point Name) won't make tethering "work". There are strings in the framework that need to be modified for it to work without getting cut off. Believe me I know, I had the fix in my ROM for the Note 2. The guy above is posting from outside the USA/T-Mobile with an Xperia lol.
Ohhh okay. So no way until someone makes a rom that can breai away from tmobile stuff?

I had used APN backup & restore on both S3 and Note 2. Hopefully, its dev will be able to setup an APN that will work with the S$.
Note - it will only work on 3/4 G, so you would loose LTE after restoring modified tethering APN, so you would have to backup the LTE APN and then restore it when you want to go back to using LTE.
There is no unlimited mobile hotspot yet, until then, you can call T-Mobile and they have free tethering for up to 500Mb until someone can unlock it for us.

As I said it's as simple as modifying a few strings in a framework apk.

Same problem without rooting
Guys,
I just bought the At&t version of S4, got an unlock code for Sim and put in the nano T-mobile sim, all was good, got 4G internet from T-mobile and made calls. Tried to turn on my hotspot feature from the phone itself because T-mobile hotspot is free up to a limit.
Was not able to turn it on, it kept going to the off position with the error "MOBILE DATA IS NOT AVAILABLE OR INVALID SIM".
Of course I had my wifi connection off and had 4G connection from T-mobile. Got off with t-mobile customer service and got their APN settings, was nothing to change.
Yet my own samsung hotspot feature doesn't turn on. I think samsung has turned off this feature in US versions of S4, so even if you root, you wouldn't be able to get hotspot on.
At least that is my two sense on this matter. IF any body knows how to rectify this issue, please help.

It's saying invalid, because the strings in the framework point to an AT&T APN. Once again.....the strings will need to be changed for this to work.
I know that this method works with any plan, because I had the android preferred (5gb no tethering for $20) and now have the truly unlimited; and the method I speak of works on both.
