My screen broke on my Nexus 7 LTE. I attempted a repair and ended up melting the frame (I guess 1000 degrees is too hot, who knew!?) I purchased a new frame on ebay (for a ridiculous price), but it was for the Wifi tablet. Turns out the frame is different from the LTE tablet. I attempted to use the melted frame and ended up breaking the new screen, yay. I've contacted Asus and had the tablet sent in and they wanted to charge me $250 or so to repair it. No thanks. So anyways, I've been searching for a frame and have not found one anywhere. Does anyone know where on earth I can find one?
i've been searching and searching and then searching some more for the LTE bezel. apparently they do exist but are just really damn hard to find.
i'm even thinknig of going with the 2013 wifi bezel (since they are easy to find), wondering if it is alterable into whatever makes the LTE bezel unique.

I cracked my screen a while back and every time I look at it I get sad. Now recently I found on YouTube that it actually seems fairly simple to replace your screen yourself. I'm just wondering if anyone else has replaced their own and has any tips before I order the parts.
You can replace just the glass but the correct way to do it is replace the complete digitizer glass set. There is a special adhesive film which bonds the digitizer to the glass and you can never duplicate it as if you where doing the complete set up.
You will notice it more when using your device in the sun, the screen will be very difficult to see
Have a great day!
Dont do the glass only fix. Spend the extra money and get the front half of the phone and re-mount everything to it.
atleast they've dropped in price a bit, use to be a 250 dollar fix, now its around 150.
Just make sure youre getting the one thats compatible with Sprint. Theres a slightly almost unnoticeable size difference between verizon/att/sprint models and sprint motherboards will not fit in to att/vzw frames. IDK Why they did this.
Have a pro do it. I learned that back on my iPhone 3g and buy OEM not a eBay knock off that breaks easier.

I did the same thing with my daughter's 2012 Nexus 7 (melted the frame). I found a replacement for $20.

thats the problem i can find loads of 2012 frames but a 2013 frame is nowhere to be found
Hi, have you been able to source a screen + frame for the Nexus 7 LTE (2013)? I can't find one either.
at this point it seems that nexus 7 2013 WIFI bezels are readily available but that Nexus 7 2013 LTE bezels are nowhere to be found... has anyone found one?? apparently the hairdryer / heat gun approach of recovering the existing bezel fails half the time, and is a huge pain.

I know this is an old topic but I came into the same problem and wanted to post a solution so other people dont get ripped of when someone is selling an lte version. I broke the black plastic when trying to remove the bezel for a glass only replacement. I wasn't to successful.
Anyway, as mentioned above, you can find the nexus 7 2013 WIFI bezels but still not the LTE ones. I recommend buying the Wifi ones, but you will need to replace those green PCB antennas from the broken frame. There are two, and mine where labelled "MAIN_EU_AC" and "DRx_EU_AC" which is the European version. The american version with have NA instead of EU. They are paper thin and bend easily without breaking. Wedge something in the corner and then slider something under it to separate the glue. Heat will help. Put these on the wifi frame and you should have a working frame with wifi and cellular capabilities.
hey exidez,
independently of your suggestion, actually the LTE bezels are available now. some months after my post, around fall 2016, i found an LTE bezel on alibaba. bought it used it. worked great. i'm assuming they're easier to find now generally.
Recently, I ruined my touchscreen on my Nexus 7 (2013) LTE. It's broken and only a few millimeters at the bottom of the screen still respond to my touch.
I also have a Nexus 7 2013 (WiFi) where the charging system is damaged irreplaceably, and thus is nonfunctional.
So I'm wondering whether or not I can take the touchscreen of the WiFi version and use it to replace the touchscreen on the LTE version.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Yes and no.... here's my experience. (basically yes with caveats)
Busted the screen on my N7 2013 LTE. Ordered glass/LCD for a wifi model. The opening for the camera sensor didn't line up exactly on the replacement glass. I assumed it was an LTE difference, but now I believe I may have gotten a chinese knockoff screen that the hole just didn't line up... because..
Before installing the glass/lcd I had to remove the old glass/LCD from the bezel. Short story, I used too much heat and damaged the bezel. So reusing the bezel was out of the question.
Next, I went to eBay. Nobody sold bezels for the LTE. The only bezel I found was labeled for WiFi and was visually different on one end - it didn't seem to have the cutout for the LTE antenna (which is a sticker). I figured it was a different bezel for the WiFi.
However, later I saw another WIFI bezel/screen combo on eBay that did visually match my bezel. Looking at the part numbers of that one and another bezel that I had pictures of that were different, and my bezel, it appears there are MULTIPLE part numbers used throughout the production run. Some of them are LTE compatible and some are not. All will work on WiFi.
Shorter version:
1. Glass/LCD are interchangeable, but watch out for Chinese knockoffs as fit could be an issue.
2. All LTE bezels will fit WiFi, but only SOME WiFi bezels will fit LTE.
3. Honestly, if you can find one, get a bezel/glass combo. It will be a much easier install and didn't cost me much more than glass/LCD alone.
4. If you do get a bezel, make sure to VISUALLY confirm (with pictures from the seller) that the LTE antenna cutout is present and that the design of the bezel otherwise matches your LTE model.
I went through all of this with my LTE N7, and now have a perfectly working tablet.
EDIT: I see you already have a Wifi tablet. In that case, GO FOR IT. Just make sure that the LTE antenna cutout is there, and swap the whole bezel without trying to unglue the glass. You WILL destroy the glass on your WiFi if you try to unglue it.
If you have any questions, PM me.
In a freak toddler-related accident, my brand new LG G Pad 8.3, which I've had for just over a month, took a 1 meter fall face down to the floor and now has a beautiful pattern of spiderweb cracks all across the screen! After a bit of searching, I found a replacement glass + digitizer part on eBay for $95, shipped from China. (And btw, are these things infused with Unicorn Tears(TM) or something? This one is $95, but most are selling for $180+! You can get a US-sourced iPad glass + digitizer for less than $50!)
What I have not been able to find as of yet are instructions. While I could probably muddle through and figure it out on my own (I've replace glass on an iPad, iPhone back, and a couple of Samsung Galaxy S3 phones), I'd definitely feel more comfortable if I were able to find a video or even a walk-through showing the process. A search on YouTube found no walkthroughs, and a Google search turned up mentions of a leaked service manual for the LG-V510 (I have the LG-V500, but it would probably be close enough), but I couldn't track down a valid download link. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think this should help

I've smashed the screen on my 2013 LTE, I've been trying to get a replacement, but people keep telling me that the LTE screen and digitizer are different from the standard one, is this true and if so can someone point me in the direction of a good replacement.
Thanks in advance,
Nick
Giving this a bump because I have the same question. Bought a Deb that apparently had a tiny crack that caused touchscreen issues. Popping the cover off the back opened it up.
Most retailers don't mention the frame being different)?) . If that's true where can we get the correct display.
