Hi all happy HTC Desire users,
There was no such topic for some time so I create new.
Could you recommend some ROM that you are using?
My Desire is now used by my wife and I searching for stable ROM for her.
As most of user here are using and checking ROM maybe you can share your personal experience and recommend something.
Requirements:
- quite fast
- quite stable
- working GPS
Big thanks

This is one of the possible options.
This is why I make this thread because I want to know what other people use and what are their experience so I don't have to check every ROM.

Thats the problem, every user has a different opinion, what might be stable for one might not be for another and the only real way is to test a few for urself and see what works best. Plus these questions aint really allowed on xda
I'm using an oxygen based rom based on 2.3.6 I think. Oxygen is the fastest it got on this phone. Problem for this phone is some of the newer apps bog it down or aren't compatible with android 2.3. And 4.0 was slow and unstable for me after a little bit of use.
That's why its a reliable full time car speedometer for me now, until today when I had a sim card problem with my other phone.

Hi everyone, i'm currently using Leedroid 2.2f and planning to update to 2.3b.
However, i've seen that there's some SenseHD rom in the dev section.
They look really great and i wanted to give one a try... Question is, which one is worth trying and keeping?
Anyone tried some and kept it (at least for more than a week ^^)?
Thanks for your help guys!
I've been using baadnewz's ROM for quite some time with no issues http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861690 I'm not one to flash every new ROM on the block - unless I see a killer new feature somewhere, I'm inclined to leave a working ROM alone.

been using it for a couple of weeks, alot faster and more stable than most of the others.
ReflexTSense 1.4.1 a2sd very nice and fast
I am using Robociks Z Rom v0.5 (came from v0.3), I just love the rotating rosie.
It is fast and without any issue, although people have reported many issues which I can not find on my Desire.
Add another vote for baadnewz's v1.3 - as fast as the stock ROM, no FC's, all fine.
Switched from leedroid to baadnewz too lately. Plan to switch back when leedroid goes hd/new sense/gingerbread.

My vote goes to Alex 1.2HD.
Another vote for badnewz here! I am using an older version but it's working flawlessly
So Baadnewz might be the one i'll try
Thanks.
You guys have made me wanting to try that ROM too...hehehe...

I have tried loads, inc the new leedroid, keep going back to Baadnewz Rom myself, best that I have found so far.
Later today I'll be trading my Galaxy Nexus for a One X. Of course the first thing I'll be doing is to dev unlock and get flashing.
I don't like Sense so ideally I'd like to use a CM10 based ROM or at least a de-sensed ROM. I would like something relatively stable. I've had a quick look at what's on offer here in the forums but unfortunately don't have time to read through all the replies to figure out just how stable the ROMs may be.
It would be extremely helpful if someone could recommend a ROM based on this information and maybe give me a brief outline of any bugs. Any information at all is helpful - it's a bit overwhelming coming to a new device as I'm sure many of you have experienced before.
Many thanks in advance.

I personally love the work of Owain94 - CM10 Domination ROM build 6 with paranoid customization and for the kernel used either faux or ncx!

I think best camera is in Tbaldens JB/CM10 ROM( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786696 )...
But its still poor compared to the Sense camera...And if you used Onexed camera mod it is day and night difference, sadly but true.:/
I tryed al rooms and I can say renovate room 5.2.0 is the best, has the most feature included (camera mode, sound mode etc.) Also a excellent battery life combined with the faux kernal , after 2 hours and a half on standby ( checked 3-4 times the clock ) I still had 100% battery .and you can install without sense if you want .

Hi all,
I'm looking for a 4.2.2 ROM (or 4.3) for dayly use, but I'm really confused about which I should choose among the ones provided in the forum.
To me these seem all great ROMs, but even if I know here on XDA we don't speak about "best" ROM, I'll be very glad if someone could suggest me what is the more stable for daily use.
I use my Desire for work and have really little time to flash every ROM to try it.
Many Thanks in advance

Well, none of them is "stable" if we take the true meaning of the word. But some of them are more stable than others. From experience, I found the following ROMs to last the longest without reboots (for me, it was max 3 days)

I used all of those ROMs for a couple of weeks, more or less...depends on how I liked them. Thing is I never had any random reboots with any of them. I did however have reboots with some of them when rotating the phone while loading up the camera.
And camera is probably the biggest issue with custom JB roms. If you use camera often, maybe you shouldn't switch, or at least get different camera app from Play Store.

As many of you know, I am much into building kk roms because I believe they offer a very good compromise between performance and the latest trend/features. Of course, a few common features are not working, such as:
- MMS
- Camcorder/video recording
- Screen recording
- OpenVPN (kernel issue: cannot acquire tun interface socket)
Unfortunately these issues cannot be easily fixed by me.

My favorite is oxygen ROM android 2.3.7. I'm using my desire as my main phone through the day because I'm using my nexus 5 with a wind mobile unlimited data stick plan for internet at home.
Oxygen seems to be the only ROM that feels fast enough day after day and 100% stable. After using the nexus it was feeling really slow until I tried oxygen.
All the kk Roms look nice and work good for a short bit until they get unstable. I don't think it will ever be possible to fix these issues.

My suggestion is SlimROM (not present on vote list) but voted on LiquidSmooth as it's the only one lightweight ROM from the list (as I understood it is based on SlimROM).

Hey Desire'd folks,
Just to keep you in the loop.. I am still working on my SlimKAT experiment.. It has taken much longer than expected because I have decided to use PA's framework as a base as it appeared to me to offer the ideal base for our device in terms of purity and speed. Right now, I am adding on top Slim's features and also stuff from CM. I can't promise anything.. and I hope that my efforts bring us a working result.
In case I will get stuck with SlimKAT, I would switch over to work on a new PA release. Have you taken notice of Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 4 “Humble Huckleberry”? Is that really Desirable?
Cheers and have a nice day!

Not really the answer you expected, but still the best one. People's rom requirements are different because we all use devices differently.
Therefore what's best for some users may not be best for you. User opinions have very limited usefulness, and very few users will have even tried and compared all the kitkat roms just for you.
In all this time waiting, you could have made a nandroid backup, and played around with all the ROMs for yourself, from your own opinion of performance and stability from your own experience. This way you find the 'best rom' for your needs, not someone else's... :good:

Performance and stability is also subjective and varies hugely between users, there's no standard...
It still comes down to how the user uses their device. For instance, someone might say a ROM is laggy, but they're running high end games which the phone was never designed for, and is not really even a ROM issue. Others' definition of stable can include the occasional reboot / freeze, though this could be unacceptable for you. These are just examples, you may believe they're helpful to your choice, but again no user will have exactly the same usage pattern as you, so their experience will have limited usefulness for your setup.
Put another way, how many replies are you expecting in this thread on all the different kitkat ROMs before you are able to decide, assuming they have tried them all and are able to compare objectively? And if you've already tried 3 kitkat ROMs, why do you (still) need additional user experiences of others who use their phones differently to you?
And you can apply this logic to all device / ROM / kernel combinations in the future
