Hello everyone.
Months ago my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4 felt into the floor which cracked the screen.
The touch screen was working and the colors of the tablet were still good.
Later I went to a store to put a new front which resulted in what you can see in the attached pictures [I CAN'T UPLOAD PICTURES YET]. They did a really bad job.
I don't know if the problem is just the front screen or if the entire LCD needs to be replaced. The difference is quite big in terms of money.
Can you help me on this? What should I buy: only the front LCD or the entire screen and touch?
Thanks for your help.
Can you give me an explanation, please? I really need to understand why.

The digitizer+glass and the lcd are two different parts. If you see oddness in the screen display in terms of weird colors, stripes or artifacts, the lcd is broken. If touch doesn't work, or the glass is broken but it can still display normal colors etc, generally only the digitizer+glass needs replacement.

LCD Only: If the image under the glass is broken and the touch panel is NOT then you only need an LCD.
Touch Panel aka Digitizer: If the top touch panel or aka glass top is cracked or broken but the image under it is fine then you only need the Touch Panel.
Complete Screen with Touch Panel and LCD: If the top touch panel is broken and the lcd image is either black liquid or cracked you need a complete screen.

Thanks for the explanation.
So, I need the entire set. It's so expensive.
It's a shame that in the end the specs don't count so much. If we drop our toy, all depends on the screen.

Your best bet would probably to send it to Samsung (maybe its under warranty or can make and exception), plus samsung probably warrantys their work.
or find a new /used lcd with the digitizer already pre-attached so its a easy install.

I need an advice, my phone just fell out of my palm and it's screen is completely shattered. The touch screen is fully functional but the screen shows orange-ish dots. Is the the LCD or the broken glass just presses it?
Screen repair here costs ~500 bucks, which I ofcourse refuse to pay.
TL;DR:
What should I order to fix it myself , and is it worth it?
(LCD + touch screen? )
Also, if I order the OEM one.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-OE...872?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1ae6a558
will it be the original LCD2 the HOX has?

ยท 110% Brand New (In the ebay advert)! THAT MADE ME CHUCKLE !!
I would ask the ebayer, not us about the LCD2 screen
And if I was you, I wouldn't even bother going anywhere near repairing it yourself, unless you have experience. They are so complex its unreal.
Good luck !
Another question, when my iPod touch cracked I tried to replace the glass... it didn't turn out well. I only ordered the digitizer , at the end it was attached to the LCD.
Anyone knows if it's the same with the HOX? Really can't afford a 500$ repair now.

yeah they are attached normally, hox, the glass is attached to the screen.
my dhd when smashed, was declared beyond economical repair.
its only really if the screen isn't smashed too badly that you might be able to warm it up enough to loosen the glue, but you'll probably damage the lcd itself in the process. and then you'll probably bugger up re attaching the new glass. even htc buggered it up with the yellow spots etc on lots of the early models
you're better off getting the whole screen with glass. it will be fiddly, but there are a few teardown guides for hox, and if you research this enough, and make sure you have the right tools for the job, it should be fine.
if i was in your situation, i would try it .. but i would make a million % sure that the screen i was buying was a genuine screen.

Hi, I'm wanting to replace my HOXs screen.
There are yellow spots on the screen, does this mean I need to replace the lcd panel as well or if I just replace the glass/digitizer will this fix the yellow spots?
Also, I managed to fix a galaxy ace screen (glass/digitizer) by separating the digitizer from the lcd panel and the lcd panel is fine. I know it has been said it's not really possible to separate the two with the HOX but if I have managed to do it for the ace, do you think it's possible for the HOX??
Any thoughts would be appreciated
You don't really need to replace the screen if you have orange spots ,just put the screen on full brightness over night and your problems will be solved , if you want to replace the screen ,replace the whole thing as you said I have seen only one video out of 60 that the guy was successful in ceperating digitiser from LCD ,good luck
They will disapear after some time. I had the spots too.
Thanks for the replies.
Sorry I forgot to mention that the screen is cracked too. But my main concern was separating the lcd from the digitizer. I did do it for the ace and it was pretty easy buy if you think I would be better off to replace the panel and digitizer, then I'll do that.

The things is, the ace and the hox are very different devices. Just because you've managed to seperate digitizer and screen on the ace doesn't mean you could do that on the hox too. Just compare the space between LCD and digitizer of both devices and you'll see what I mean.

You wont manage to seperate the screen from the digitizer trust me, i tryed it and the glue is too strong + the lcd is too fragile.
Hi all, i recently bought a new touch panel for my HOX couse the old one is semi working due a fall. With great surprise i see that the original lcd is literally attached to touch glass. So trying to remove original touch, is equal to break original LCD. And this happen to me. However, i bough the a new lcd and finally remount my HOX. But there something strange. The touch is in contact with the display, stange artifacts are visible on the screen on the contact points and the touch has only a semi working response. I've tried to move away the touch from the lcd to be sure that the new components are working...and infact are working well. So i understood thath i must use something to prevent the touch came in contact with the LCD. What can or must i use to complete the remount? Thanks

And that is the reason why you can find lcd panel + touch assembly (yes its more expensive), touch panel is already glued to lcd with "special" compound. It is not glued actually, more like adhesive compound.. When you broke lcd you should go for lcd+touch..
But you can check this one, maybe you find some answers :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1720900 and here :http://www.repairsuniverse.com/htc-one-x-screen-repair-video.html
Hello Guys.
I dropped my phone today and when I lifted it up my screen was blue/black. I pulled the battery out and turned it on. Most of the screen is black and can't see anything. There are strips of blue pixels here and there.
What exactly is broken and what do i need to replace. I obviously need to replace the Glass frame/screen, LCD ... do I need to replace the digitizer as well?
If anyone knows about this please help me out.

Is better change the complete set to avoid dust under the digitizer.

As long as I know any T999 i535 I747 will be compatible except I9300. I dont know why but some T999 users havd problems.
Is a good deal indeed. But If you can find some with frame includes will ve a very sweet deal.

I know sound expensive but you only will have to change the mainboard and components very easy without any need of stick or glue to install it on the frame.

Yeah I heard it should work and is cross compatible. But my question is if on that eBay link.. Are they selling everything I need to fix my problem or do I need to buy something else? I
It says: 1. Front Glass Touch Screen Digitizer Panel + LCD Display Screen pre-assembled without frame
That's all I need ?
Thanks

Yes, the only concern I have is the glue used to join the frame with the screen, if isn't professional installed this will be falling soon or getting dust an sand under the screen. Thats why I recommend the entire frame and screen set...

Unfortunately I don't have that money right now so I will settle with the cheaper method. I will try and see how it goes.
Thank you for your help.
Hello everyone.
The LCD of my S3 was broken so I ordered a replacement screen on eBay.
It arrived and I replaced it without incident. (It was an LCD + Frame + digitizer assembly)
But after a couple hours I noticed that the LCD is a couple of millimeters smaller on each side.
It is really not noticeable on first sight. The first days I dismissed it because it was something that didn't bug me too much.
But I noticed that I keep mistyping when I'm using the keyboard. Also I keep missing other onscreen buttons and it drives me insane!
I think this is because the digitizer is made for a larger LCD.
First I thought that it was a software problem, but you can see the borders even when the display is off.
I tried taking a picture and you can definitely see it on the left and the bottom border.

Should I ask for an RMA? Or am I seeing ghosts here??
Love to hear your thoughts.
That s not an SAMSUNG OEM LCD Display.. Look at capacitive buttons color...

If you look at the spacing the Samsung logo at both the top and bottom, there is an extra bit of space and as you rightly said, the bezels on the sides are a bit thicker. If it gives you peace of mind, then go for the RMA, but chances are you might end up getting the same thing. Maybe you could try a different seller? Where did you purchase it from?

Yeah probably not
The capacitive buttons are the normal white color. In the picture they are not on.

Touch function Not working
Hi,
I am using Galaxy S3 Korean Version (SHV-E210L).
I have tried TraingleAway V2.35 to reset flash counter. But it did not reset flash counter, but damaged touch function. Now my phone display is working, but touch function is not working. I am using OTG cable with Mouse for urgent works.
I have two things which i need answer. Can some one help me.. ::crying:
1. Before i fix this, i need to reset flash counter anyway. But latest versions of TraingleAway are not working for this model and Previous versions from V2.35 is also give massge stating "Are you not using ICS". Phone has Android 4.3. So can some one give me a solution?
2. I want to fix touch problem and i search for digitizer in Ebay. But there are digitizers for GT-I9300, but not for SHV-E210L? Is digitizer for 9300is compatible for SHV-E210L? Further waht is screen lens means? Is it digitizer?
Thanks a lot

Hi, that's about the price I paid for supposedly genuine (but not) screens on ebay for my S3, my buttons are also not white as mentioned above.
The first screen I fitted went faulty after about an hour, took a while to get a refund, I had to pay postage back.
Second screen cracked after a very small drop, digitiser was OK, bought replacement screen but when changing it (with heat, etc) the digitiser separated from its backing rather than the screen.... maybe me being ham fisted but I think it was a different bonding used
Third screen/digitiser assembly now has a crack running right across it, and I've not ever dropped it! It still works so I'm leaving it alone and buying a new phone this time.
Also I find the paint comes off the frame very easily by taking it out of a hard case or screen mount and mine looks a mess after a couple of months, and the frame joint is obvious and creaks when pressed.
So these screen aren't very good - but I couldn't find a definitely genuine screen for a price that was worth bothering to fix the phone.... I would definitely get a tempered glass protector if I did fit another of these.....
