Will rooting trigger any binary counter on the LG G3 like KNOX being 0x1 on Samsung Galaxy S5? And how about flashing a different rom/kernel other than stock?
(I don't wanna lose my warranty, had serious issues with the galaxy s5 and recently switched to this device)

Rest assured theres no hardware implementations that will result in problems if the phone is rooted/custom rom installted
Just simply reflash a stock image using the LG Service Tool and it should remove all traces of rooting/custom roms

Hello everybody,
My current device is a Captivate, and I'm thinking about upgrading to an i747. After doing some research in the forums I found out about knox, but find it a little bit confusing, let's see..
1) Has there been any known cases of devices that were shipped with a knox bootloader?
2) In a i747, what does a knox bootloader look like in Download Mode (as opposite to a non-knox one, does it say knox warranty void or something else?)
3) This is where I'm most confused. If you've got a knox bootloader, then you can't downgrade it, and can't flash anything except for new official otas? would anything except the ota void it? can you flash CM11 for example? and if it's void, that means that it's a hard brick? or does it still work? Can you go foward if it's void (again, like cm11)?
4) Let's say the one I get comes with 4.0, I can root and move freely between CM and stock as long as I don't flash 4.3?
I also have the option to go for a S4 Mini, but given it has the same issue and similar hw.. love the S3 screen
Thanks in advance!
Samsung s3, s4, Note 3, etc. that shipped with 4.3 will include Knox.
If the device shipped with Knox, you will see something like warranty bit in the text at the top of the download screen.
If you have a knox bootloader, you cannot downgrade to an earlier bootloader but you can still install a custom recovery and custom ROMs which voids the warranty but does not brick the phone. You can flash any ROM you want with a 4.3 Knox bootloader as long as the ROM does not try to flash a new bootloader.
If you have a stock 4.3 phone and try to load anything that is not official Samsung software, it will trigger the knox counter (change from 0 to 1 or 0x0 to 0x1) and void your warranty. At the moment, there is no way to reset the knox counter to 0.
Yes, if you get a 4.04 phone, you can install a custom recovery, custom ROM, and move freely among custom ROMs if these ROMs are support but the installed bootloader.
I have done all of this with an i747m (Bell version of the s3).
That's crystal clear, I was confused and thought that if you had knox and flashed anything else over it it would brick... but I see now, just avoid bootloaders.
Thanks!
HI all,
Just upgraded from an S2 > S4 Mini and I'm trying to get a grip on this Knox thing. I do not care about the warranty on my phone one bit, so will it prevent me from installing a custom recovery/rom/etc at this point? Like I said, I don't care if the flag trips to 0x1. Unfortunately my phone appears to already have the OTA update so it does have Knox on it for sure. Thanks!

I've seen S0be has a working CM in progress.
Hi,
I updated my Samsung galaxy note 2 N7105 for firmware 4.3 and I found that my Know was was and also the home screen changed to hot air balloon image, Then I tried rooting the phone but was not successful. Therefore I again flashed the firmware with 4.3 but this time the home screen wallpaper returned back to original one and Knox is not working and saying your device is not authorised to use Knox.
I really liked the Knox feature, Can someone help me how to restore back the phone so that I can use Knox again.
Thanks
Wtf?
Do you even know what knox is for and it's "features"?

If you root and trigger the Knox flag(0x1) you're device has Knox warranty void. This means Samsung will not support a broken Knox problem.

Hi,
Yes I have used Knox before. Yes you are right and I have read about 0x1 binary counter, but the question is there any way to reset this counter so that one can reuse Knox ?
Title basically says it. Is it safe to use the Installer on A galaxy S3 Atat running 4.4.2?
Do you have warranty left on your phone? Flashing a custom ROM will trip the knox counter and void any remaining warranty.
I haven't seen anyone have problems with it
Hi,
I've pretty much used a S4 before this, recently got a free Tab 3.70 and it was so slow that i need to change the firmware and root it.
I'm wondering or it seems to be there is no Knox for the Galaxy Tab 3.7.0? (T210 variant). So it means my warranty won't be void right? But I've also read that the Triangle Away does not support the Tab 3, does this mean that if i root/load a custom rom and kernel, I won't be able to flash away the counter to get warranty still?
Finally, for S4, some important things to note were the CSC/PDA/Firmware of your device, but without a Phone dialer, how does one go about doing this and is it necessary to take these details down for the Tab in order to go back to its original state?
I have recently bought a Tab 3 8" and would also like to know will i be able to keep my warranty if i root it. I am currently at 4.2.2 and i'm not interested in flashing another ROM, just gaining root. Is there a completely reversable way to do this?
Same question for P5220 (Tab 3 10.1 Wifi+LTE)
Warranty will be void if your device is rooted, and yes there is a way you can get it back restored unrooted. Just go to your device size thread and find the right one. Hope this helps.
