Hello everyone.
I am wondering how can I go back to the stock ROM and kernel on my HTC One M8. Right now I am running the LiquidSmooth ROM on Android L, but I would prefer to return to the stock one. My phone is S-ON, unfortunately, and I have the European model. If someone could please help me out, I would really appreciate it. I would like to have the stock ROM on Android L, because I'm used to it.
Thanks!
Restore your nandroid that you should always make of your stock setup before flashing ROMs.
Otherwise, find your stock ROM on the following thread, and restore using the instructions given on the thread:

You can use the guide in my signature. Some parts require S-OFF but most can be done with an S-ON device, so long as it's definitely the EU model

Yes. It's the same advice that is given daily to everybody else that wants to return to stock.
Find the correct RUU from the shipped ROM sticky thread in the dev section, put the phone in fastboot.mode and run the RUU.
If you can't find the right RUU, search the same thread, I can assure you, you won't be the first person to want to do this.
Hello people , I need to return to the stock Rom WITHOUT unrooting my HTC One X . I am currently on Leedroid Rom I just need to return to stock. I couldn't find anything on this, all I found was returning Rom to stock and unrooting phone =/. Help would be appreciated

As far as I know in order to reinstall the original stock ruu you will need to relock (unroot) your phone. If you want something near to stock rom then I would suggest the Android Revolution rom.
Android Revolution works even better than stock. You'd try it!
restore the nandroid backup?
Hi
I have an unbranded (unlocked) HTC One X (Bought in UK). I recently received 4.1.1 update but I have decided that I want to root my phone. I have never rooted any phone before so I am pretty much new to the whole process.
I would really like to back up my phone as it is. I am not sure if it is possible to create a ROM of the current state of the phone and restore it if I want to. This is because my phone is still under warranty and if it goes faulty I would like to send it back to HTC in its original state.
I can backup my contacts, messages, apps etc. separately. It is the actual original HTC software I am more worried about.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Anyone please?
I have been browsing through the forum and I have seen few people ask very similar questions but no one seem to have figured it out yet. I have also seen many topics where people are struggling to recover back to stock ROM because they did not make any proper backups.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
So you need 3.14.401.27 RUU. You are on 2.17.401.x now?
Check htcruu.com, the UK ROM is widely available.

Thanks for the reply.
I have official HTC 3.14.401.27 installed on my phone right now. I have never rooted it or anything. That is why I am asking if there is a way for me to save that as a ROM or save that ruu before I root my phone.
Make sure you make a nandroid backup of your stock rom after unlocking bootloader and installing clockworkmod recovery, and keep that backup in a safe place.

Okay thanks. Any other way to make a copy of stock kernel and recovery too?
i believe there are links to stock kernels and stock recoveries. there's also a thread to go back from custom rom to stock rom if ever you change your mind

Yup I have been reading that.
But it says that:
These instructions require that you have one of the ICS hboot versions in order to work (1.12.0000 or lower). If you have one of the new JB hboots 1.28, 1.31 or 1.33 there is currently no way to return to stock until a JB ruu is released for your device.
After checking my phone, it seems like I have 1.33. It seems like there is no way for my phone to get back to stock at the minute. That is why I was asking if there is anything else I can do to make it possible before I actually root my phone.
Hey guys,
I'm running the GPE ROM on my One M8 (was a stock unlocked model with Sense 6), and I'm wanting to restore the phone completely to the stock HTC Sense ROM, stock recovery etc, yet I can find pretty much NOTHING about restoring the stock ROM to an unlocked handset, hoping someone can help me out with this.
Thanks in advance

COLLECTION of Stock backup's
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Hey folks, I have an international one m8 that is S-On and runs an unofficial version of CM 12. I tried upgrading to the latest cm for the theme engine via tarp but I keep on getting : script aborted: This package supports bootloader(s): 3.18.0.0000, 3.19.0.0000; this device has bootloader 3.16.0.0000.
Apparently, based on searches on xda, this problem is due to the fact I run an old boot loader. The solution apparently, because I'm S-On is to restore back to stock. And I have no clue how to begin doing this. I know there are guides out there that contain terms like RUU and so on but I have no clue what these mean and as a result most of the guides aren't intelligible to me. I also don't mind if someone can link me to a guide that's easy to understand if any exist.
I would appreciate it if the kind folks here can help me step by step of how to be able to go to future versions of CM 12 via restoring to stock. I'm even open to S-OFFing using sunshine if you folks can help me.
Thank you in advance.

In simple terms, restore your nandroid backup, flash stock recovery, do a reset than proceed on with official OTA
Here's the thread to look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

Hey I went through that thread that you posted and while my one's CID is htc_001, there seem to be multiple nandroids ranging from 1.1.2.xy to 3.28.xy. Will choosing a lower version vs a higher one (1.12 vs 3.28) help me in anyway and therefore which one am I supposed to pick? Also, the page also lists firmware. Is this the same thing as nandroid and is recommended for the task that I want to do (upgrading CM versions). Lastly what do you mean by reset? If I restore my nandroid, aren't I supposed to do a factory wipe on it anyways? Thank you so much for helping,
