[Q] How to disable slide-down overlay notifications that recently started appearing? - Paranoid Android Q&A

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find an answer on the forums.
I'm running 4.6-BETA5 on my Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 Int'l.
In the last couple of weeks I've started getting notifications overlaying themselves at the top of the screen, as in the following screenshot whilst the eBay app is being updated:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
This is annoying if several apps are updating one after the other, because it makes the quick settings drawer unreachable.
I've been using PA for ages without this issue so I'm sure it's a change I've made recently - except I can't work out what.
When I first got PA I found, as others have, that Chrome was opening in a floating window so I followed a guide involving something to do with Xposed Framework and the module XHaloFloatingWindow. Recently I believe there was an update to that module, and I'm wondering if by updating the module I've somehow enabled overlay notifications (or whatever they're called). It was some time ago that I first messed with Xposed and I cannot find the original guide I used to mess with the floating window thing.
So, is it possible to turn off this overlay style of notification?
Thanks.
Chris

It's called Hover. You activated by tapping the Hover icon in your notification drawer...just disable it the same way you enabled it. By tapping the icon.

Thanks for the reply - I feel stupid now! I was looking on the quick settings menu and hadn't even considered the icons at the very top change between quick settings and notifications menu. Cheers!

NFC Quick Toggle on Notification window, not working

NFC quick toggle is by default not on your drop down notification panel. So to put it the or modify the list given to you by Samsung, you can do the following:
Settings>Display>Notification Panel.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can only place 10 on the panel, so you tap-hold-drag-and-drop into the active buttons area you will likely replace something else, so chose wisely those that you want.
Now the question. If you put the NFC shortcut button on the panel. Can you toggle it on/off or does your UI freezes like mines?
mine freezes and says "System UI has stopped", then I'll wait for the status bar to regenerate and I'll try the button again and it worked the 2nd time.

I don't use NFC much so it doesn't bother me but when the logo disappears, that is when the problem starts(NFC off). I just hold the shortcut down which takes me to the NFC settings, turn NFC on then go back home & click on the shortcut in my "Quick toggles." It freezes my phone for a but, then "System UI Stopped Responding" come us and it starts back up again. I realize this is not a long term solution but without rooting and getting a custom rom or waiting for the 4.3 update I don't see any other option. This only started happening recently, or i have only noticed a quite a few months after the 4.1.2 update
Sorry
Basically if you are getting the "unfortunately system UI has stopped" message, what you want to do is go to your applications manager, go down to system UI, press it, and then press force stop. Then it should go back to normal... it worked for me

Birthday notification

Hello friends, I have DN3 5.2 rom on N7100 and this notification of birthday of my friends is killing me. It does not show every day, but sometimes, and i just can not turn it off. I unchecked options for birthday in callendar, even greenify this app which is called "homescreenfestivaleffect", and it is no good. I can force close it but after some time it shows again. Eventually I uninstalled app, and no effect. This app came with rom so i suggest that somebody must have same problem. Thx

Long hold will give you a menu with app info. That will give you the exact application. That one can be removed or maybe these notifications can be removed.
Maybe you can revoke the right to notifications to that app, effectively removing all notifications for that app.
You can't long hold on this, nothing happens

Ok, you can try to find the correct app by long-pressing on a notification, or going into Settings > Apps and then selecting the app for which you want to disable notifications. Tap on the check mark box next to Show Notifications and accept the warning. Going forward, you'll no longer receive notifications for that specific app.

[Q] Chrome Settings Button

Ok so I haven't noticed this when I got my mobile (I bought it recently and I froze Chrome that came by default since I generally use Dolphin) but I have no settings button in my Chrome browser. There's only the tab switch button and that's it, no 3 dots in there. I searched around and found that this usually happens when your phone has a hardware menu button but hey we don't have one. I'm using this app All in one Gestures instead of the soft keys (I hid those by adding qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 in build.prop). Could this be the cause of my issues?
Anyone knows how I can make those 3 dots appear inside Chrome tab view too since this is the only place I don't have them?
Example in the 2 pictures below.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Edit: Ok so it seems qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 is the problem. Once I went back with this Chrome displays the 3 dot menu. Now my question remains the same how can I make Chrome display the 3 dot menu since this app is the only one that doesn't display them? I tried Xposed 3 dot module and it didn't work, I tried App Settings module to enable legacy menu for Chrome only and didn't work, I tried using another app to hide the softkeys (GMD Auto Hide SoftKeys) and it doesn't work (Chrome doesn't display 3 dots). Growing a bit desperate here. I conclude that I have to modify Chrome in some way to show those 3 dots (I haven't found any option to do that in chrome://flags/ like in the first picture I posted above). Any help/ideea is welcome.
Ok so 59 views and no ideea/solution to have softkeys hidden and also the 3 dots button in Chrome (it only happens in Chrome as i said)?

Phone icon gone or not visable

My "Phone" icon is gone for second time (first time reboot got icon back). It says "Phone" on label but icon is not here., or at least it's not visible.. does anyone else experience this? I found thread on AT&T Note 4 where they had same problem but no explanation why does it happen. Icon is gone from both dock and applications
edit: Reboot got icon back again

Hide app

Hi, I have a rooted S20+ and I wanted to hide some apps from the app drawer, since I already have them in my home screen and I see no sense in having two shortcuts to them. Also, this would "clean" the app drawer a bit.
The things is, I can't hide them. If I use the "hide app" option on settings, it will go away from the home scree too. I want a wayto display them in home screen only. Also, even when an app is hidden, it will still appear if you search for its name in the search bar... Some apps I want completely hidden, from app drawer,homescreen and search. While others I want only in homescreen or only in app drawer. Is this possible to do or I will have to use another launcher?
I used to use Lightning Launcher in my previous phone, but I wanted to use Samsung OoneUI native launcher, since it's native, cleaner and easier to edit.
You can't hide app and keep it's shortcut on home screen same time, sry!

You can, but not yet...
I'm working on an xposed module that will allow you to easily do that. I've already implemented mentioned feature to xperia devices >> here << (Features > All Apps).

Samsung's stock launcher is based on the same aosp launcher on which xperia is (com.android.launcher3 - well modified, I gotta say).
Stay tuned (no eta)!
Ok, thanks anyway. I am using the Lightning Launcher again, for now. It's a very good launcher anyway.
