[Q] Wifi Passwords No Longer Saved - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed the Lollipop update on the day that it went live, there are bugs and problems introduced in 5.0 but they are somehow tolerable, until today when even my home Wifi network's password doesn't get saved. This means each time I turn wifi off and on again, I have to manually type in the password. Is there any way to fix this?

No one else? Really?

No. sorry. I also updated to Lollipop on the "Live" Day. Am now on v20i and have never had problems with WiFi Passwords being saved.
After "Rooting", installing TBu and importing WiFi Data, all passwords are still there....
Edit....D855 16g...

I see. I'm on 20H now, at least it's not totally hopeless as there's a chance 20i fixes the issue.

You did Backup data to XML , Export (External SD or Dropbox or Whatever), then Restored data from XML (Wherever) in TBu? I have never had problems with this, even moving XML Data from Sammy GS5 to LG3. I have had no problem Extracting Data from Nandroid in TBU also....

[Q] CM7 (TB) Wont restore data after build 17?

Hello All,
Background info:
Cyanogenmod 7 , Nightly #17, 1/27/11 is what I currently have
Most Updated Titanium Backup
Tried this on Build #18 and #20.
Basically after I install the 18 or 20 I get no errors. I then go to Titanium Back up and restore my apps. (Only apps , no system data )
Is anyone else having this issue or is this all on my end and if so i'll be investigating further.
THanks!
Kyle
EDIT: I Have forgot to mention that yes I did do a Back Up before i installed it. I have done this everyday but until 18 and 20 this is arose >.<
Well I'm not sure if you did, because you didn't specify, but did back up the data as well? Because there is a backup all apps and a backup all apps with data option, the second is about 6 boxes down from the first option. That seems to be the problem. I hope this helps any...

Well I'm saying on the titanium backup, make sure to check the 4th option to back system data and apps. You can always check you SD card to make sure its there. I do the same and able to keep my data, also when you flash a build you don't have to wipe the data and cache, because it just updates since its technically an update.

And when you restore, you run the backup and restore all apps and data? And what data is missing, like the adw launcher settings, ect?
among other things like my twitter login and facebook and my vlc ****, though my ADW ex is still there which seems odd
i also cant open my market :/
additionally i get a error saying Google talk authentication failed...
Swype wont restore itself anymore, some apps like FB did restore the data this time, VLC did not, twitter didnt, my market is borked.
Not complaining, just seeing if anyone else has had issues?
Well wow, I don't know what to say. I would say try to re-flash your google gaps, and flash the newest set. I had some issues with older versions. I will keep trying to look into it.
link to google apps: http://www.mediafire.com/?qgt15ftd3gdby6v
yup i flashed what was in the clockwork mod file just now, 1/15/11, ill use this set to see what happens. It seems like my phone isnt linking to google since my icons are grayed out instead of color in the notifications bar
Yea, it doesn't seem like it is linking. But let me know what happens.

kk, installing now, ill let you know ^_^
no good, "Google Talk Authentication failed" App market closes on opening, my power widgets i notcied reset to stock CM7
This is all bad but i CANT complain
ima revert back to my old build i think for #17 i did a back up of it just in case 20 didnt work
That really sucks man. I know it isn't the google apps because I'm using the same package. The last thing I can think of [that worked for me] is try to go back to build 20, use titanium backup to restore your apps, JUST the apps, no data, restore. It should work. Then backup all your apps and data and backup your rom.

Titanium Backup keeps crashing, am i alone?

Woke up today just to see that Titanium Backup had crashed during the scheduled backup tonight. Since then i haven't been able to do anything with it!
Sometimes it crashes right off the start, sometimes i can start a backup and have it crash about ~12-14% in. I tried going in to the settings and checking the "AUTO, indirect" setting that they recommend if you're having problems, but that didn't help either. (And it took me 3 tries to get in to the settings without it crashing!)
I've tried wiping all the app data, re-installing it, installing an older version (that they suggest on their website if having issues). I also tried re-setting the super user permissions for it. None of which helps!
I haven't found any information on it yet, so i assume i'm alone with this? Have anyone else been having the same issue?
Just emailed the support, but i imagine it will take at least a week for them to reply (if they do).
So, any suggestions?
EDIT: I just timed it and it appears to crash after approx 30 seconds, no matter what i do in the application. I Hope the developers sees this.
DOUBLE EDIT: It appears to be working again after updating to v4.9.0.1.
I don't do scheduled backups but the app hasn't failed me yet doing it manually.
well id suggest connecting to your pc and backup the titaniumbackup folder (that way you know all your backups are safe)
then making a nandroid backup
then flashing another ROM or just wiping and reflashing the same ROM you're using

The backups i have stored are outdated now, i've changed a lot since the last update. The plan all along was to do a titanium backup, sync it to dropbox, flash this rom, and then restore all my apps etc. So i'm really kind of out of options now, unless i download everything manually and set everything up again. Doesn't sound very fun tbh. I might just try to find an alternative to titanium, but i'd really like to get it working again. Nothing seems to help.
You are not alone!
Hi, just to say you are not alone. Your case 99% similar to mine.
Just encountered this freeze after the app update on 18/19 Mar and the app will freeze even when I do nothing in the app. And yes, what a coincidence, the app when backup under schedule has stopped (with screen save off) at 14% completion.
Tried the method of deleting the app data and reinstall the app and even worse, now the app stops right when launching after a moment of black screen.
Already filed email and log file to support hopefully there will be an answer...
Hi, I'm also having exactly the same problem with TBU. Am on the pro version.
This has been a problem for about a week now. Not sure if it doesn't play nicely with CM9 or the kernel i'm running. What are you guys running? I may re-flash stock ICS and see if it still gives me problems. Quick question, does reflashing stock ICS remove root? I read somewhere it does and just want to get some different opinons.
Am running a CM9 nightly with Franco Kernal on GMS Galaxy Nexus.

I am also on pro version. Mine is at stock 4.0.2.
And yes, if you re-flash stock you lose root and have to re-root.
I am very very suspecting the crash is something related to the license checking of pro-key so that will explain why the program will crash in 20-30 sec without any special action doing or launching in the app. Just my guess... Hope the support will answer back shortly...
Thanks for the help, have uninstalled for now, will you post if the dev gets back to you?
Interesting that it's happening across a range of different setups.

To all: Yes, the problem solved after I clear the cache and data of the play store. Beware that I also cleared out data of titanium backup before that when tackling the problem, but you may not need to...

Thanks, been without backups since play came. I had tried to clear Google Play Store cache but not data and that fixed it.

Titanium Backup?

I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus; I plan to unlock and root it, and try out some ROMs. Since I've had the phone for a while, though, I wanted to back up all my save data from games, and whatnot, so I used the root method that doesn't require unlocking, and I used Titanium Backup to back up all the apps I wanted it to.
I want to copy this back up folder to my computer, so when the phone gets wiped during the unlocking process, I can just transfer it back and restore everything once I'm back up and running. The thing is, when I connect my phone to the computer, the Titanium Backup folder does not show. I can see it on the phone itself, via a file manager, but I can't see it on my computer. So, how do I copy the folder to my computer?
could always 'adb pull' it.
At the risk of sounding stupid, I don't quite understand how to use adb commands. I tend to wait for one-click methods for this kind of thing.
A quick fix, titanium has drop box sync. Just send your entire titanium to drop box over wifi.
Then after you flash, it will pull down your backup over wifi. Its built in to titanium backup.

Eh... I suppose, but I think the entire backup is almost two gigs (unless I read it wrong), and my home Internet is kinda slow (and has been unusually even slower the last day or so), so that would take me forever.
If you restart your phone you will see the Titanium Backup folder on your pc. I have noticed that the Galaxy Nexus only refreshes the MediaStore on boot.

Not rooting, but unlocking the bootloader specifically, which is generally required to root the device.

There's the ADB method for backing up. No root req'd: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1420351

Set up as new phone, but keep saved Wifi passwords?

After factory reset, I'd like to try setting up as a new phone instead of restoring from backup, but AFAICT I'll lose all my saved wifi passwords. Is there any way around this?
i seem to recall a app that can pull such data.
must be rooted.
Edit;
Doesnt google profile in cloud retain such info?

it should, I've had my pixel connect to wireless networks I hadnt connected to since flashing the factory image after I signed into my google account
Titanium Backup has an option to save them if you're rooted. As stated above, Google can save and restore them when you log into your account.

So at the initial setup screen you chose to set it up as a new phone, not restoring from any backup?

Thanks for the replies. I should clarify that I'm not rooted.
When I originally set up my Pixel, I transferred from my Nexus 6 via USB cable. Wifi passwords and everything else came through OK.
I recently moved from one Pixel to another (RMA due to mic issue). I first tried setting up as New Phone. I did sign in to my same Google account on the phone. The wifi passwords were not there. Finally I reset again, this time set up by restoring from the cloud backup (Google Drive backup) of the old Pixel. The wifi passwords were there.
So are you guys saying after setting up as new phone, the wifi passwords should still be restored from the Google account? Maybe I just didn't wait long enough for it to sync?
From what I've read, it sounds like you have to choose to restore from backup to get these (and other) backed up settings, but it's not very clear.

Very unusual "system data" storage behaviour!

I have a completely stock phone & I was using nova launcher from day one but I turned back to the default launcher today and noticed a strange data in the 'shelf'. It was showing that I have low %age of storage left. At first I thought it must be a bug but then after some time I checked the storage in settings and thereafter confirmed this using the app "DiskUsage".
Could anyone help me out here? Kindly have a look at the screenshot I'm attaching.
In short, System data is using 27.3 GB of storage!!!
I suspect it may be due to the flash that I did some time back when I returned to complete stock from a rooted OnePlus 3. Though I followed the official website instructions.
Thanks guys for reading this message & I know someone out there will know about this as I'm not that lucky to encounter a completely unique bug :good:

Latest build should fix this.. If not do a clean install and stay on the latest build. Also if the issue persists try to move to EXT4. F2fs still has loads of weird issues..

Well, I got my latest .5 update yesterday and sadly it didn't solve it so I guess I have to format my phone again. Man, that's really a pain in the A. By the way, is this a common occurrence in OnePlus 3 software?
As far as ext and f2fs is concerned, I don't remember manually formatting my phone to f2fs so I guess it was nougat update which did this!
Thanks man!

hmm, I'll wait till the O update for a clean install as setting up few particular apps (mostly banking & two-factor authentication) is really a boring/huge task for me, plus few apps have just NO backup solution like the now-defunct but awesome keyboard Fleksy, Adguard user filters. I really think Android needs a good global backup function to sync basic things like android settings, SMS, Call logs.
Meanwhile, if anyone know a solution which doesn't include formatting the phone, please do tell me !

I remember, it's UI was very complex and had a big learning curve but despite all this, isn't titanium backup a root only app?
