[Q] bricked samsung note pro 12.2 - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

I tried rooting my note with ODIN following directions from this site and seem to have bricked it. I had rooted it several months ago but had a random rebooting problem so I un-rooted it then did a factory reset and my random rebooting went away so I wanted to try rooting again. Every thing seemed to go OK until the end. Towards the end I get
<ID:0/009> NAND Write Start!!
<ID:0/009> cache.img
<ID:0/009> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
The tablet stays in the download position. It will not restart. If I try to restart it I get the following message
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I don't know how to get to Kies. The only thing I can get to is ODIN MODE - Downloading. I can not even turn the tablet off.
I have spent half a day searching this site for a solution because I don't like to have to ask for help but I am stuck. I have tried so many things I may have made it worse. Any help I can get will truly be appreciated.
The model number is SM-P900ZWVXAR
Thank You

Do a Google search for your stock firmware and flash with odin

Thank you tgamble160 for the quick response. I couldn't find the firmware for my phone by model number. Couldn't find firmware for the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 (wifi) for the US or North America either. Could find it for just about any other country. I could find a Cellular south (XAR) firmware from SamMobile that I believe will work. It is a slow download. I tried to pay for a faster download but it did not go through so the slow download. In another hour I should have it and will let you know if it worked.

It worked. It is 2am here. I am going to bed and will try rooting it again when I get up.

[Q] Help Un-Soft-bricking SGH-i747M

I have soft-bricked my GS3 - SGH-i747M.
I can still get into the Galaxy S3 Download Mode screen (Pressing VOLUME Down + HOME + POWER button), and am running ODIN3 v3.07.
But I have not been able to restore my backed ROM, nor a couple of "stock" ROMs that I have downloaded.
I ran into trouble trying to get the proper ClockwordMod installed.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
Start from scratch. Load a image using Odin and re do it all. Root etc
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3
when i soft bricked my phone i just followed this thread and reflashed the stock rooted rom. This method of rooting involves flashing a stock rom with root injected into it so in essence you are just flashing back to stock. No need to wipe data before doing this process (at least in my experience)
The thread also includes the steps to get clockworkmod
success
that got it Florad, thanks much
*HELP* Friend Soft Bricked my phone
Let my self proclaimed tech savy friend borrow my phone for a few days... He decides to root it for me in thanks.
Now, all it is able to do is access the Download Function. No Recovery, instead I get a message saying "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again." Kies will not recognize the phone and connect. On boot it shows the SAMSUNG logo and shuts off. Sometimes on boot it just shows an empty battery. LED no longer comes on...
It is a Samsung gs3 sgh-i747m from the MTS Allstream carrier.
I have searched forum after forum to find what to do. Downloaded every Firmware rom from a Canadian provider (except MTS 'cause there just isn't any out there with valid links), tried to flash with Odin3 v3.07 .... no luck. Everything fails.
Phones are not really my language. From what I get he was trying to root:
RecoveryGalaxyS3USCanada.tar
SuperUser.zip
which worked but SuperSU kept crashing so he tired:
Siyah-s3-v1.9.1.tar
which caused the crash. since then I can only imagine what other things he tried in attempts of recovery before giving it back to me to figure out.
As for the few Roms (This one being Telus) I have attempted in hopes to reverse it, this has always been the result in Odin:

1. You will need to pick a carrier file from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543854 , and download it (really slow downloads) and use ODIN to install it.
OR
2. Follow this thread here, it is for Note 2, but same idea applies to your S3 for Emergency firmware recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261153
Good luck and post back, I will suggest #2 as it is not your language..

What bootloader was on your phone before flashing? Can you get into download mode?

[Q] Phone seemingly bricked randomly.

Hi all,
I have had my Galaxy Note 2 for about 3 or 4 months now. I rooted it when I got it, but lost root after a while, and didn't bother doing anything about it. So the only time I have played around with any of that stuff is when I first got it.
Now today, after using fine for most of the day, the screen just wouldn't turn on, and then I held down the power button, and it got stuck on the first screen it shows. I held down the power again, and this time the same screen showed up and got stuck, but it looked like the background was static, instead of plain black. Then the third time I tried restarting, the following message came up:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
So I have a few questions. Is it bricked? Can I get my data off it (mainly concerned about messages, but would like everything if possible)? And how do I fix it?
Obviously I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I did try searching before posting this thread. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Ben
Try flashing stock rom with odin. Should work. Btw we're you on on 4.1.1 or 1.2 ?

Sorry, I can't be certain which version I had, but I think it was 4.1.2. I know that some of the early Note 2s didn't have the multi-window feature, but mine did, if that helps. I know it's not related to the firmware version, but possibly Samsung released both 4.1.2 and that feature in the same update.
Anyway, will flashing the stock rom keep my data? If not, I assume that's the only option? I found the following thread with instructions on flashing the stock rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
I bought the phone from Kogan (an Australian online store), so it is a Hong Kong model. Should I use one of the Hong Kong roms then? Which one (there are 6)? Possibly someone else with a Note 2 from Kogan could help here and with identifying the firmware version?
Look into this thread. ...

Sorry, didn't see your post before. I can go into download mode (it asks if I want to install a custom OS or restart), but trying to go into recovery just restarts to the same error screen. I haven't tried flashing anything yet because I would like to recover my data if possible.
That other thread does look like the same issue. I saw it before, but thought it was a different problem the first time I read it. So if I can't recover my data or flash the stock rom, I should try the USB jig and then warranty? I'll wait to hear back on the data recovery and stock rom questions first.
Try flashing stock rom.

Yes flash stock it should work.

First thing you need is flashing stock ROM, if everything remains fine then you may not lose data, in case bootloop you may need to wipe.

So what should I do from here?
I also noticed that in download mode it shows the following:
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-N7100
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System status: Custom
Does the 'Custom Binary Download: No' mean that I could send it back under warranty as is? Or does 'System status: Custom' mean that they can see it has been rooted?
And is there still a chance of getting my data back, or does this mean it's not going to work?
Try to flash the original rom trough Kies if trough odin fails.
To do this, do the following:
1: Get your phone serial number from under the battery or go to the phone info/status and get it from there.
2: Put your phone into download mode but DO not connect it yet;
3: Open Kies,
4: In Kies, go to Tools and select the third function which is "Firmware Upgrade and initialization",
5:Enter the model number (ie. GT-N7100), hit OK,
6:Enter your serial number, hit OK,
7: You will be provided with the latest rom version for your phone, hit OK,
---(around now, or somewhere between steps 7-8 or 8-9, Kies should initialize and the download the firmware and Kies will act as not responding, DO NOT close it, it's the usual Samsung cheapness happening, soon it will restore itself, usually after 1-2 mins), do not worry about the phone not being connected).
8: Agreement stuff, etc. CONNECT your phone to the pc (while the phone is in dl mode), then the OK button should come out of the grey, thus clickable. Also make sure you agree to the therms otherwise no OK option for ya.
9: Magic is happening, Kies and your Note are doing their "mojo" now,
10: Wait and pray it gonna come alive again!!
In this way you should only upgrade and your actual data sould be save (considering your odin flash failed). If everything works as it should, your phone will be in the same status as it was the last time.
On the other hand, no you can't bring it back as under warranty. For that you need the following:
Odin Mode
Product Name: GT-N7100
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
Good luck, let us know how far you went
Sounds like Kies will wipe my data. Is that the case? Do I have any options left to get my data off? That is my primary concern if it's at all possible.
No kies will not wipe your data at all. It will just inject the rom into your phone. Wipe is done separately trough the wipe menu. I've done it before and never lost anything, everything from messages, background etc were in place!
Plain and simple answer: if at the moment there is no other way to boot up your phone by any means, consider your data simply GONE. Odin, Kies or any other method that will help you boot your phone up without wiping are the only ways to save anything.
After all, saving your note is your first priority...for the rest...chit happends:S
Sorry, just saw your edit. So it sounds like it could save my data. I found this thread just before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2088809
which suggested that your data will be wiped.
What I posted above is the exact procedure
Thanks, and sorry for the late replies that make it seem like I am not reading your posts properly. Being a new member I have to wait 5 minutes between posts.
I will try Kies when I get a chance and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
no worries
I've just gotten around to trying Kies, and got as far as entering my model and S/N, and the next thing I got was this message:
The device can be initialized to its original settings.
All settings and data will be deleted, and the latest
software version will be installed.
Do you want to proceed with the firmware upgrade and
initialization?
It says 'CAN be initialized to its original settings' so does this mean it's just an option? Matzone, have you seen this before when you have used Kies without wiping your data? I also didn't see a separate wipe option (unless this is what you were refering to), so I wonder if I'm using a different version of Kies. I have 2.5.2.13021_10.

Actually, my Note is easily replaceable (although expensive) but my data cannot be replaced. I'd be surprised if most people don't see it the same as me. I've learnt a lesson though to take regular backups.

Hello,
I rooted my device routed sm-t217a. I messed up my framework-res.apk in framework folder. I edited the apn file under xml and I had it put back on the device. I installed the apk by clicking on it. Now this tablet after it boots up shows "unfortunately the process com android phone has stopped". I have tried everything. I can not do anything on the tablet unless it is in recover mode. I tried all option under recovery. However no luck. Any help would be appreciated how I can fix this issue.

I'd would try tmobile or sprints firmware. i flashed tmobile to my t217s today and it worked. besides the modem flash and no signal. then i restored my backup thru twrp recovery after re-rooting. hopefully you backed up your rom in recovery. under t217s flash you can easily root your tab with kingo app. with tmobile you can flash sprints version of twrp & supersu through odin. good luck
I cant not connect to kies it wont successfully connect. Mtp driver fails to install. I tried 3 different computers and it wont install. Connecting my functional samsung s4 works. So for tab 3 my options seem be to in recovery mode either through adb or odin. But no one seems to have att version of rom. I dont have a back up version of my rom/firmware. Any other suggestions. If I run tmobile will the unit be functional? At least under tmobile? Any other suggestion?

Out of desperation getting my tab3 going again, and locked into just recovery mode I tried this workaround.
Try this at your own risk - Just something I did, and worked in my situation to get the phone to boot again.
I flashed Philz Touch Recovery, and it managed to get the Tabs life blood flowing again.
Here is a link to the thread - Good Luck - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201860
P.S - I just used the md5 file I already had for my Galaxy S3, and got lucky - Since I didn't see Tab3 7" on his list.

YA - I Know - Why I added the P.S that said:

I read somewhere on here about how to make a debrick.img file using another device which you mentioned you had, and the process of restoring that way.
But can't remember where I saw it or I would post a link - Keep us posted on how it goes with the T-Mobile file.
If you do get it to work on the tmobile go to wall mart and get an activation kit for $40 - Then it's $30 a month for unlimited data / text (up to 5gb at 4g - then the rest is in 2g for the month), and 100 min talk time.

If your AT&T device is unlocked and has a micro sim card slot.
Both my Galaxy S3 & Tab 3 T-211 run just fine through T-Mobile.
The kit comes with a micro sim card ONLY - Through the Wal-Mart promotion.
I've had a few different phones on that plan (Exhibit 2, S2, two AT&T Note 1's) but the AT&T Tab 3 is a data only device. Since T-Mobile now has one also I'm doubtful that the AT&T Tab wouldn't come up as a data only device...
I actually want a T211 myself but I don't think I can give up LTE and 1700 hspa, a nicer camera, AND mhl (Note 2 on unlimited postpaid now).
Couldn't say in your case then ?
Tab 3 T-211 is actually a tab with phone and texting capabilities, not just data.

[Q] Stock S3 stuck on boot cycle, can't access recovery mode, and odin fails

Hi a few days ago my phone was restarted and it got stuck on the samsung galaxy s3 screen. It is a t-mobile sgh-t999 model. It will boot into download mode but not recovery. After trying Kies to no result. I have deleted it from my pc and attempted to recover by flashing the stock rom using odin. I've tried that many times and always fails as well.
I have reinstalled s3 drivers. Made sure Kies is completely gone. I have downloaded the stock rom and three versions of Odin 3.04 3.07 and 3.09 and I get the same results. A write failure. Does anyone have any ideas how to proceed?
One observation I've noticed is that the bar underneath the Android in Download mode never appears. Which leads me to think that it never starts the process of taking the firmware.
Any ideas what to do next?

Same exact issue on my sgh-t999
This morning it restarted itself (plugged into charger all night) and stuck at Samsung Galaxy SIII on screen. Recovery doesn't work and it will go into download mode. I am downloading the stock firmware from (sammobile firmwares SGH-T999) and will try installing with Odin tomorrow.
I will likely fail like you guys. I have taken such good care of the phone, never drop it, not a scratch on the screen...and this randomly happens in the middle of the night.

Same exact issue on my SGH-T999 which makes me wonder that this is some software update issue that has possibly impacted many phones at this time.
In my case, it also restarted by itself this morning and got stuck at Samsung Galaxy SIII on screen. I started from figuring out if it was a hardware issue but the phone seems OK physically (i.e. the power button is not stuck, etc.). Recovery doesn't work and it will go into download mode like indicated by others above. I tried downloading the stock firmware SGH-T999 from Sammobile (actually a couple of different versions and tried installing via Odin 3.-07 many times but always failed with the error message above or
<ID:0/008> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/008> Complete(Write) operation failed.
I also tried installing non-stock recovery files (TWRP, trying CWM at the moment) and that worked but without success in changing anything in the initial issue.
Sounds like they are sending bad firmware bricking our phones over night. Sorry I've found no solution yet.

SGH -t999 Pit File
Does anyone have any idea if flashing the stock rom with the T999 pit file in Odin possibly fix this problem? I've been reading about it, but can't really determine if this is the next step to troubleshoot this problem.
Write start and immediate fail in my case as well.
Keep looking into this and updating thread. I already ordered a new phone because of this but will want to fix this phone to sell it if not just sell the new one and stick with this longer...
I tried updating to the newest version of ROM using Kies but that did not work, either. Sometimes the phone cannot be recognized by Windows and sometimes Kies says it is "connecting" with the phone. When I tried updating, Kies did not see the phone, so maybe it had a negative impact on the download. I am going to uninstall the drivers and install them again just before connecting the phone to Kies and try updating again. This stuff is really time consuming.
I could not find a good CWM recovery file to flash via Odin so I did not try that. The interesting thing is that successfully flashing TWRP recovery file did not do anything - I still cannot get into recovery mode. Then I tried flashing stock recovery file again - and got the FAIL! message from Odin.
I've seen other threads talking about this issue, but don't remember if it was ever fixed. Have you guys tried different cables or computers?
I've tried a different cable (non-stock) but that did not help at all. I can try a different computer and will report here.
No update on fixing the phone...I tried everything I could on my end really. I think I will have to look at sending it in to Samsung?
I bought a used S5 on ebay. Much faster and nicer...liking it quite a bit. Samsungs update to break my phone and buy a newer Samsung worked I guess.
Daughter's SIII crashed also, her phone was bootlooping. Since her volume button doesn't work, I used a jig to put into D/L mode. Flashed T999LUVUBOH1_T999LTMBBOH1_T999LUVUBOH1_HOME.tar.md5 from Sammobile and ODIN said it passed. The phone will not go passed the "T-Mobile 4G LTE" screen. I've tried several times, always passes, always gets stuck.
Daughter doesn't mind, she's been using the Note II that I didn't want to part with after getting myself the Note 5
When flashing the stock rom with Odin, do not check anything except f.reset time. After flashing, and seeing the word reset in the status window, remove USB cable, remove battery, replace battery, boot into recovery, assuming the volume up me home button work, no perform a factory wipe.
The volume up and down button don't work?

[Q] Flashing 4.4.4 in N910V Odin FAIL

I don't think this has already been answered here but this is my problem.
So I bought the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 from Amazon brand new with Lollipop 5.0.1 already preinstalled. After using it for a while I've noticed lag in Google Maps and the Google App. I then watched and read some tutorials about how to downgrade to KitKat 4.4.4 and using Odin, I successfully rolled back with no problem.
However, I was facing OTA update notifications quite frequently and I knew there was a way to turn them off I just never bothered to do so. Eventually I hit update on accident and I was forced to wait for the update to finish knowing that I could easily rollback to 4.4.4 right after. Well, once Lollipop finished it's 5.0.1 update (same one I had before), I headed back onto Odin, wiped cache partition using plain recovery mode, then went into download mode to prepare to flash 4.4.4 like I've done previously. Unfortunately, Odin said FAIL and no matter what I've tried it would always say FAIL. I've tried different USB ports, different USB cables...nothing. I then tried to root my device using CF Auto Root through Odin hoping to get TWRP and install CM12.1 , to which I was greeted with another FAIL in Odon. I am not sure why this is happening since I have done this before and it worked no problem. I doubt that my bootloader is locked because its the same 5.0.1 update that I had previously. I will post the FAIL details of Odin later when I get computer access since I am typing this on my phone.
Please help.

My understanding is that if you are on 5.0.1 and take a newer update, you can no longer roll back to 4.4.4. This is why there is a debloat program to prevent the OTA updates. I was in the same boat - got a new GN4 which came preinstalled with 5.0.1. I decided not to install the SIMM card and set the phone up instead over wifi so Verizon wouldn't see it until I had protected myself against the forced updates. I hope I'm wrong in that there is still a way for you to roll back to 4.4.4. Good luck.
Happen to use on sprint they locked our bootloader kies don't even work no more
This is the detailed info I receive upon failure of flashing CF Auto Root.

What does this mean? Is there a way I can flash anything on my Note 4?
The latest OTA from Verizon prevents users from being able to downgrade the Note 4. That's why it fails in odin. No going back now.

I got this failed message when I attempted to update, now I'm stuck with the phone only booting into Odin Mode where it says "Software Update Failed" How can I recover from here? Any help is very much appreciated.
I'm assuming you had stock verizon retail lp build ending in OF1 or OG5? If it was then you can NOT downgrade or flash the note 4. The only way to fix it that I know of is to run the Verizon Upgrade/Repair Assist Program.
